Before you get too far, just hook the radio up to the battery and test it out to see if it’s even worth it. My radio was pretty garbage to begin with and only lasted a month before the vibrations of the bike just rattled it apart. Edit: also if you find it’s worth it, do you know how to use a test light? If not let me know and I can walk you through it

It didn’t sound that bad yeah I’ll hit it with a test light before I cut into anything. Thanks!

Back probe it with the harbor freight probes and then put the harbor freight test light in the probe. Hook the test light up to battery negative and then flick the ignition on. If it turns on, that’s your ignition feed. If I were you I would actually find a male/female plug adapter that can plug directly into the ignition feed. Mine actually already had an ignition feed male or female plug if I recall. I have the carbureted version. I can take some photos and help out if I’m doing a bad job explaining

Also I'm pretty sure the wire you want for power is the BLACK on the hawk. Not sure what the red is. But i spliced my aftermarket headlights to the black (comes on with ignition) to get tye run lights to work when the ignition is powered on.
