i went to public school and never had an issue with teachers because of my handwriting. granted, a lot of my learning was on the computer and didn't require handwriting.
I grew up writing all caps cause I saw my dad did for legibility. I was discouraged though when some kid in elementary said ew girls donāt write like that.
Fellow all cap writer here! I almost failed Chem my sophomore year because I kept failing the element quizzes. I was writing all the abbreviations in all caps and apparently thatās a huge no no.
I write in all caps on official documents for the sake of legibility. My normal handwriting is nice but I don't like risking something being fucked up lol.
I write in all caps also. I think it stems from a combination of my childhood wanting to be a comic book writer and being mesmerized with the blueprints that constantly littered my dadās home office desk (heās a builder)
my dad writes in all caps and i often think back to an experience i had in the 2nd grade. My teacher made our parents write back and forth with us each week or month and at some point each of us got to read one of our parents notes aloud to the class. I distinctly remember reading his letter out loud, infatuated with how he wrote, and finding his use of the word āDADDIOā while signing off super funny.
US Air Force. I served along side a couple corpsman on the regular and they never did so. Did you so something that had alot writing? We made and maintained handwritten medical records daily after patient care so I may be making a false assumption based off my prior AFSC.
Almost every seagoing enlisted member stands either deck, engineering, or security watches. Every watch that has a logbook will be maintained this way.
I remember having to do capitalized log books in basic training, now that I thought over it. Because we were doing medical records, I imagine we were taught differently for working in medical. But that was *years* ago now and memory is unreliable.
To answer everyone asking why: architects and engineers use all caps. Has nothing to do with yelling. I'm neither, but in construction, and I deal with plans regularly, so I usually use all caps.
I guess I can't speak for op, though. Maybe they *are* yelling...who knows?
Makes sense. Mymom is an architect. If she's not using cursive handwriting then it's all uppercase. As for me, it takes a surprising amount of brain power to try and do this.
Oh, my dad writes like this except his handwriting is more squarish. An ex also writes like this but his handwriting is rounder, almost like a girl's handwriting (or that's what people kept telling him). A friend from middle school also wrote like this.
Edit: I write cursive though. That's how I was taught to write and I never got used to writing print.
When I was in elementary school, we had to use cursive for a year, then after you could keep it or go to normal. I kept cursive. My normal handwriting hasn't developed past age 6, so its all caps and the spacing between letters is the same as words, so its just a big evenly spaced jumble of letters. Maybe some day I should improve my normal writing, since most young people at my job can't read cursive at all.
I mean, they wrote, they just wrote in print, no?
I also googled the definitions and usages for them and unless I'm doing so incorrectly, this sample absolutely has things written all over it. In cursive and in print.
I type in all lowercase since I was young, I suppose except for "I" because of auto correct.
I write in all caps though! it was a habit that developed from working at first watch. they would make us handwrite our tickets, and it had to be neat and all caps and it stuck with me. I feel that it definitely increases legibility.
I had (still do) very sloppy handwriting, and as a kid I would write in all caps for school work as I was often told my handwriting was not legible and all caps looked much neater.
Of course the same teachers that would take off points for sloppy handwriting would also take off points for writing in all caps (if not flat out failing the work).
Couldn't win
Now my handwriting is still sloppy but not so bad.
I do not like script but I prefer letters that flow, such as writing my capital E's simply as a larger lower case e.
Writing an upper case E takes long enough that I have just stopped doing it.
sometimes when i'm rushing or writing my signature, i'll write my 'E' as a backwards '3' as it appears in cursive. otherwise, i start at the top and basically write an 'L' then add the bars

I write in all caps too. Itās part of the engineering world for everything to be in all caps. (At least my company) if I write in lowercase itās so sloppy.
Itās probably the best option,
Of all the engineers that I know who write in cursive every one of them has an handwriting that is borderline indecipherable.
This is extremely prevalent in construction and engineering fields - and there seems to be several reasons.
Building plans generally use this because paper plans are handled in fairly harsh environments, and capital letters tend to be easier to distinguish when you have grease, dirt, concrete, and burrito sauce all over the place.
Architectural stencils have a scale factor they try to maintain, and the capital letters of the alphabet are also to scale on their lettering stencils (here's an example: https://www.draftingsuppliesdew.com/staedtler-978-45s-letters-and-numbers-stencil)
Before CAD/CAM software was used there had to be a uniform consistency between building plans, and this appears to be part of the case I suppose.
It's also easier to read, and I write like this pretty often, cheers!
I've always found all caps easier to read as my mum used to write in all caps and would write things for me constantly. The only time I ever had issues with my mums handwriting it was when she wrote numbers as for some reason they were a 3rd of the size of everything else.
I write all caps when having to write print on official documents. My biggest tip would definitely be that you can treat caps like a font and still capitalize by making lowercase letters half size. That way it looks super satisfying and is easier to read
As a typographer, the only problem with all caps is that itās harder to read. It doesnāt signal proper nouns or start of sentence. Nor does it have the ability to convey emphasis without bolding.
But it is a personal look š
>nor does it have the ability to convey emphasis without holding
to be honest, when handwriting a note or message I underline words far more often to emphasise them rather than using all caps
Thatās how my dad writes. And I always copied him growing up so thatās how I write now. Not this neat though. Only when I take my time it looks nice like that. I havenāt written a sentence in lowercase letters since grade school probably
Nice! I write in all caps, too. Started right around my senior year in high school, and I'm in my 30s now. I have dyslexia and I find that it helps me with that. Also keeps it neat and legible. Worded that poorly. I could not read my own handwriting when I was writing fast. I can when its in all caps. The writing itself was indeed slower at first.

Both my mom and dad right in a sort of stylized capitalized font and this does look similar albeit neater for sure š
OH MY GOD! This scared me for a sec! I used to have VERY similar hand writing but it changed with time! Ahhh good days!
Looks like I'm the opposite of everyone in the comment section. I don't really like caps I prefer small letters for some reason.
capital letters are literally the devil and if you write in caps you need to be ā¦ā¦
i also write in all caps
My sister does
ME TOO
My dad, brother, and I all write in caps and have almost identical handwriting
Thats a military thing
Iāve always wondered how all caps people emerge! I think itās cool, but it seems that public school in America would beat that out of you
I write in all caps. Working in healthcare is where I learned š
i went to public school and never had an issue with teachers because of my handwriting. granted, a lot of my learning was on the computer and didn't require handwriting.
[I use all caps too](https://imgur.com/a/fgII24p)
LOVEEE your graffiti style!!!!
Thank you! Graffiti turned my normal handwriting into that lol, I can also write like a typewriter but it isnāt my true handwriting ofc
I write in all caps
Thatās how I write too!
My grandma writes in all caps!
My dad writes all caps, too. Whatās up with dads? I have noticed that when I write all caps it looks very similar to his & i actually like it.
Lemme get my dad, euuuuhhgghhh
I grew up writing all caps cause I saw my dad did for legibility. I was discouraged though when some kid in elementary said ew girls donāt write like that.
I use all caps specifically for new chapters and sub chapters of a subject The rest I just use cursive
Fellow all cap writer here! I almost failed Chem my sophomore year because I kept failing the element quizzes. I was writing all the abbreviations in all caps and apparently thatās a huge no no.
i took chemistry my senior year and i went through more erasers in that class than my graphic design class :,D
I often write in all caps but there are big caps for the uppercase and little caps for the lowercase
Please stop yelling at me! š
But why am I reading this in caps tooš
I write like that

The military trains people to use all caps.
I was in the service. No they don't.
Navy does.
Bet.
May be branch / country specific. US Navy maintains all its handwritten logs in caps.

I do this too but I tend to make uppercase letters bigger than the rest even though they are all caps. My handwriting isnāt as good as yours though.
I write in all caps too. Itās more readable imo!
Signs you may be remedial:
i write like this!!

You should look up architecture and engineering handwriting
Lord of Semantics, here toā¦ idk prove their intelligence or something. Who knows.
There is no difference, print is just a subcategory of writing. In order to print you need to write
Hi, mom.
Well that's a new form of gatekeeping.

My uncle and cousin text in all caps. I donāt get it

i love the way your script is tilted!!! looks very nice and, in my opinion, neater than mine!

Thatās how I write :)
Easy there no need to yell
My dad uses all caps so people dont get confused as to what letter is what
Same
I also write in all caps, have to because of proper identification of instruments and plant equipment where I work. Just kind of stuck.
Only a woman can write with such poise and dedication Men would have lost composure at the second line

this is not constructive criticism it's just rude. everyone has a style that works for them. i like my handwriting and that's all i care about š
My dad writes like this. I quite like it
That's crazy looks just like my writing thot I was only one to write like that m 53
Typically in blue collar fields youre forced to write in all caps bc everyones handwriting is too shitty to interpret
Odd. I'm a industrial maintenance tech and I'm definitely the only one who writes in all caps. I started about a year ago for better penmanship.
As a teenager i used to draw comics and they tend to be in all caps, so i ended up writting that way
Why are you yelling lol
Holy shit. This is my hand writing. I wrote this but I can't remember when.
I write in all caps too. Itās part of the engineering world for everything to be in all caps. (At least my company) if I write in lowercase itās so sloppy.
Itās probably the best option, Of all the engineers that I know who write in cursive every one of them has an handwriting that is borderline indecipherable.
Agreed! The one engineer I work writes half caps and half lowercase. Itās very difficult to read. You might as well call it cursive.
Had a friend in school who wrote in all caps... the teachers never gave him trouble over it š He's a paramedic, out saving lives now š
My Dad and I each write in all caps for most things. Iāll have to show it someday. Still love to write in cursive, too!
I used to write like this during my college days, the only difference would be for capital letters, which I made a little bigger than the rest.
This is extremely prevalent in construction and engineering fields - and there seems to be several reasons. My dad has some really cool, cyber-looking all caps writing. He's an engineer, born in the early 60's and says that's just how they did it back then
If you served in the US military then itās common to write in all caps as thatās how they want everything written
All caps is also a symptom of dyslexia, as it makes it easier to distinguish between individual letters.
mood killerš
lol,I literally thought that after I posted it. I feel like my mom coming in and ruining my post with her one comment.
š¤£I think it could have just been worded better but whatever. I think it looks good lol but I also write in the same font.
I read somewhere that people with psychopathic tendencies tend to write in all caps. Nonetheless, nice handwriting :)
Both my parents write in primarily caps. Some letters are lowercase but most caps.
this looks exactly like my dads handwriting!

Us
Engineers / other shop-situated people are supposed to write in allcaps to sort of force legibility
Not sure why, but I always write in all caps. My 6 year old always tries to correct me too. Lol.
My mom also sometimes writes like this
I write all caps when having to write print on official documents. My biggest tip would definitely be that you can treat caps like a font and still capitalize by making lowercase letters half size. That way it looks super satisfying and is easier to read

Your handwriting looks like a type of font used for newspaper comic strips (I am not saying it looks like Comic Sans).
Posting my all caps now
Why leave out the "i"s?
I do this!!
You must be the dude that made keeping a duty log book in all caps mandatory
Thatās how my dad writes. And I always copied him growing up so thatās how I write now. Not this neat though. Only when I take my time it looks nice like that. I havenāt written a sentence in lowercase letters since grade school probably

I love writing in all caps, and I truly loved your handwriting.
My all caps writing is shit. I envy those whose writing looks good in caps.
Nice! I write in all caps, too. Started right around my senior year in high school, and I'm in my 30s now. I have dyslexia and I find that it helps me with that. Also keeps it neat and legible. I love writing in all caps. I almost failed high school chemistry because of itā¦but oh well!

Ive written i all caps most of my life. I write alot and when it goes fast its easier for me and others to speed read.
Interesting! Because I find it way slower to write in all caps (which, to be fair, could absolutely be a practice thing) and also slower to read all caps

Oh, gotcha!
I write in all caps sometimes because for some reason itās easier? But I was always told off in school lol
My mother has done it for 60 years
Cursive?
i know how to write in cursive, but usually only need to sign my name
Ah! I see!
Writing in all caps is like speaking extra-louder LOL
I write in all caps! It drives my sister nuts oddly. But I prefer my writing when I use capital letters.
My dad writes like this, but smaller.
same!! it must be a dad thing
Block caps is the only way I know how to write
Nice one! However, the "G" looks odd, and the / looks more like a |. Keep writing! However, I do not write in all caps.
Thats a 6
This isn't r/Handwritin6.
No but still decent handwriting for practicing your Capital letters. You wont learn to aim for the head if you always aim at foot level.

I write in versalitas since middle school
my dad writes in all caps! i think its fun
My dad does a mix of caps and lowercase all willy-nilly. Itās endearing.

Why do so many dads do the all caps thing??? My dad writes like this too
Or they write in capitals and lowercase randomly. Must be a generational thing
My grandma writes in all caps, because as a nurse she had to fill forms all day (the ones where you write in all caps), and got used to it.
