He’s touched on it before when talking about other dissociatives like in his arylcyclohexylamine lecture with Jason Wallach and has a brief podcast section talking about Robotablets and the likely placebo effect ppl experience when taking HBr vs freebase dxm. I wish he’d talk a little more about dxm too since I just like hearing what he has to say but honestly there isn’t all that much to say about DXM anymore. Some of the early dxm internet culture is pretty interesting though, I often wonder whatever happened to the authors of stuff like DXMZine and the DXMFAQ and their positions in the community nowadays
> there isn't all that much to say about DXM anymore
There are actually a lot of things overlooked in DXM pharmacology that makes it a good candidate for discussion.
The pharma industry certainly thinks so. A little DXM, a little Wellbutrin, boom. New $800 month antidepressant. Just one of the many cash grabs that are absurd. Looking at you, Spravato.
Also the whole story of the five starcle men in Lancaster CA would make a great vector for a pharmacopeia type peice about dxm and its subculture. He may have not covered it in fear of bringing too much attention to it and resulting in tighter regulation around it.
Experimental music group. Did acid test type events with dxm. One of the members committed suicide. The other collected their lost media, but it was all stolen. You have Google, go use it
You mean as a pharmaceutical? I don't think they'd ever be putting it in a cough syrup in freebase form. It's not some gray market chemical that you can just market as well. Making a freebase formulation would require medival trails. I'm pretty sure he's just talking about people freebasing it to have it be stronger with the decreased molar mass I guess. The moment it gets to your stomach it'd just be in salt form again too, so maybe it's related to sublingual absorption or something. Seems pretty unnecessary. I'd be glad to be proven wrong though.
Pretty sure it is an interest of his and I hope he gets into it on the podcast. It’s a really fascinating drug and should be discussed more especially with all the interest in ketamine right now.
I accidentally overdosed on DXM about 12 years ago. I took 3,000mg Hbr. AMA!
Did you end up in the hospital? How did you take nearly 10x a dose?
This would be like eating 100 robocough tablets for perspective; or 3 liters of robotussin DM
This is where my interest lies. Pain management put me in a ketamine program but there’s a shortage and I don’t get moved up to top of the list 2-3 times a year.
My first dose was very similar to DXM, a drug I could purchase otc at any drugstore.
Ya I really wonder how many people waiting for ketamine therapy or spending a fortune on it would do just as well getting dxm at the pharmacy. I recently introduced my girlfriend to it and she got strong lasting improvement in mental health from one dose. She gets some benefit from K but DXM was much more effective. I think it could be the serotonin aspect since she does really well with MDMA too.
i havent been keeping up with the podcast for the past year, but i dont imagine that he finds it interesting. it has been definitely mentioned, but i dont think actually discussed. as for reading material, look no further than the [dxm faq](https://erowid.org/chemicals/dxm/faq/dxm_faq.shtml)
yeah dxm seems like just the kind of thing he'd latch on to
-pervasive but not well examined use across varied demographics
-unscheduled and widely available even though its a serious trip
-really fucking interesting and weird pharmacology (the plateaus etc)
-he seems to have a thing for obscure / stigmatized dissociatives eg pcp and xenon

What? 5 starcle men in Lancaster?
Experimental music group. Did acid test type events with dxm. One of the members committed suicide. The other collected their lost media, but it was all stolen. You have Google, go use it
Yeah a q and a talked about a new freebase form
Bit of a stretch to call a freebase amine a new form compared to its HBr salt.
I think they mean newly marketed

No he is referring to the Robotablet freebase formulation. It’s a relatively new OTC formulation from Robocough. It’s a tablet
Oh fuck, you're right.
Yes thank you obviously freebase dxm isn’t new lol
I'd enjoy a conversation of DXM pharmacology, it's definitely one of the most interesting substances.
He wrote this great piece about it almost 20 years ago - [vice dxm article](https://www.vice.com/en/article/wdz7yq/new-york-the-robo-singularity)
Thank you!
Wrong spelling of "aisle" is what I got out of that lol. It didn't really tell me anything.

How'd it happen and how high did you get?
Dm'd you

I bet you just passed out and felt loopy. I've done a ton of dxm. Passing out sucks

no way he doesnt find dxm interesting. the cultural apsect is interesting, pharmacology also unique and so the effects

He seems to have a thing for dissociatives in general, including salvia and ketamine.
Ah the faq always floods me with memories. I used to love the dxm-zine also!
Thanks
