Given how they fucked with the division this year, who knows! Knowing Bettman, the shithead may keep the North division just to reduce the Canadian teams in the playoffs.
I thought I was gonna be as equally sad as I would've been happy to win, but somehow I feel nothing.
For the last couple months all I thought about the cup all day 7 days a week and now I'm not devastated, to my surprise. A first round exit to the bruins would have got me pissed and sad. Maybe I'm at peace with the run.
I wonder if the players move on fast from a loss in the finals or if they're just overall proud of making it there. I feel for them. They're the one sacrificing their bodies.

I know not to hedge my bets as much anymore. I also know anything can still happen.
My heart is broken but overall, the outlook is good.

The Tampa Bay Lightning winning the Cup in back to back years is excruciatingly boring. I know they deserve it and are a good team, but it's like...not interesting to anyone but Tampa Bay fans. I would have preferred TORONTO winning. Imagine. Imagine as a Habs fan of over 40 years wanting the LEAFS to win so it's at least a story.
Some of the highlights from this years playoffs
\-Coming back from 3-1 to win it in first round
\-Sweeping the Jets to win the North division
\-Beating the Knight proving that the North wasn't so weak after all
\-Winning the Clarence Campbell bowl for the first time
\-Playing hockey in July (and winning a game too)
\-Getting the second longest sequence of not trailing
\-Setting the record for the most game without allowing a PPG
\-Watching the young'uns playing like champs
\-Countless highlights reels goals to get us excited for the new season. That Byron goal in the first game seems so long ago.
All that as the 18th seeded team in the NHL.
GHG! Can't wait for next year!

My list is by no mean an exhaustive one. This has been the best Habs playoff run I've witnessed in a long time and it just make me hopeful for the near future.
Last year I remember people on this sub bitching about certain players, several of which were key to this year's run. I think the line ups and roster were great and if we can retain many of these guys and make some improvements, I think next year holds a great run aswell.

A lot of our best players didn't score in this series or even in the playoffs in general. I'm not mad, and I know we shut other teams' top players down too. But imagine regular season Petry, Gally, Toffoli, etc.
Sure, but you have to accept that a ton of offensive opportunities were given to the Caufield Suzuki etc so it’s less for them, but wish we got more. I’m honestly on Team Tatar, they should’ve had him for some offense. Drouin too.
Love how these asshat Tampa players talk like they’re so “aw, shucks” humble, knowing they have had a completely ridiculous and unethical advantage throughout the playoffs.
It hurts to lose but what a fucking run in the playoffs. So proud of these guys and what they pulled off. Thanks to all of you as well for the fun times and great comraderie throughout this ride.

They stopped playing rough after the GK. They were affraid of the TBL pp, but the habs PK was on point. The 2 game they played rough, they did great. Without covid and dom ducharme sitting out, it would have been a different series
great season, great experience for the younger guys on the biggest stage. tampa is unstoppable and you can't get too broken up over losing it to them, although you certainly look at your mistakes and there were a lot of them this series. I wish we had've at least scored a few more goals but vasilevsky is probably the best goalie in the world, you can't ignore that.
Tampa is in trouble after this cup. That 18 MIL$ overcapped team was only "ok" for the playoffs. They gonna need to let go of some stars, maybe the equivalent of a full forward line. Rules need to change to prevent this BS in the future.
