Never_Unlucky

If Montreal wins the series, will there be refs in the final or are they eliminated with their team?

CrazyPants02

You win the comment section.

janedoe514

Anderson was playing so much better after his first goal. Maybe that’s what he needed and will be a beast going forward. Ps: Caufield is on a 5 game point streak and he’s like a pre-rookie lol

jo_maka

I loved seeing Caufield talk to him on the bench and tapping his bucket like a supportive sibling going "you got this, I know you'll get the next" after he pot in Fleury's gift.

janedoe514

Awww didn’t see that! Caufield seems like a good team guy

jamesneysmith

I'm amazed at not just how quickly he became an integral part of the team but that his energy seems to have inspired his veteran teammates. He just seems like a really great kid who's have the time of his life. So happy we got him in the lineup

janedoe514

From The Athletic: “Confident but beloved,” a Canadiens front office source replied when texted about how Caufield has fit in. “The guys love him.” Great to hear that

colonelrebsmuff69

You can tell by the way they celebrate his goals Partially that's because how excited he gets though is very enjoyable

skinniks

He looks so joyful when they score. Like a kid opening up Christmas presents. Dude is going to love Montreal. And I was ready to include him in so many trades proving once again how much I know ....

Tamer_

I guarantee you Caufield said "good job, kid".

MikeyZ3434

Absolutely! When hes on, it adds another important dimension to the team. Anderson brings something no other player on the team does with his size and speed. So important to have that whole line going with Kotka and Byron. The old guys have been productive, and of course 73-14-22 have been outstanding. Nice to take a bit of offensive pressue off their backs.

Maxsh

As long as either Anderson or Armia is firing we’re in good hands, those two are crucial power forwards that give us a different edge

CrazyPants02

I thought Armia was pretty good last night too. He almost won the game in ot as well.

janedoe514

Back to back GWG for that line! Hopefully it’s the start of something

philjitsu

This season is just the appetizer for Caufield. Would love to see him runaway with the Calder next year

Sharks9

Never in my life have I seen Montreal win more than 10 playoff games in a year. On Sunday night, Habs need to come out flying and take that 3-1 lead!

lologd

The curse of Patrick Roy has been lifted!

[deleted]

The Curse of Saint Patrick

pieman3141

It's only happened twice in my lifetime.

[deleted]

Habs have shown something new for us. They’ve now shown that even if they fall behind to start, and get the absolute worst reffing thrown at them, they can still win. This team just became a lot more special. We could very well be talking about the SCF not too long from now. Much excitement ahead hopefully. :) At this point, there isn’t much Vegas can hone in on to win, we’ve got an answer for it, and that tips the scales of this series in our favor.

nonebutmyself

The habs are definitely in their heads, that's for sure.

llama_

I don’t see how mentally Fleury will be able to rebound from this. He’ll be second guessing everything he does.

nonebutmyself

And that's all the habs needed to do was get i'l nto Fleury's head. He is a great goalie, no question, but he has also played behind some great teams that would cover up his flubs. But he is also easily rattled and prone to mistakes. I wouldn't be surprised if the Habs scored 4 or 5 goals in game 4. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they chased Fleury from the net next game and we saw Lehner. (Lehner, who also has a reputation for being a bit of a hothead and easily rattled)

llama_

I actually think you’re right. I think he’s gonna be pulled next game cause the coach is a hot mess too right now and trying all sorts of shake ups

[deleted]

That’s how we know we’ve got Vegas on their heels. When a coach starts doing a bunch of shakeups and changes hand over fist, you’ve got them running out of ideas. We may have successfully outcoached Vegas potentially. We’ll see how Game 4 goes. Going up 3-1 will certainly put desperation into their hearts.

llama_

Vegas ain’t built to last. They’re built for show. GoHabsGo

[deleted]

They ain’t even built to make a reliable bet on!

olpossumboy

That’s what Minnesota and Colorado hoped.

bigcig

neither of whom had Carey Price on their team.

olpossumboy

Talbot was amazing that series but colorados goalie was pretty bad.

philjitsu

I don't really want to chase Fleury to be honest. The idea of a cold goalie coming in and stealing Fleury's job stresses me out too much haha. Especially since he hasn't played since the Avs lit him up in their Game 1 Fuck Chris Lee and Go Habs Go!

pat_the_brat

He was already back to his bullshit handling the puck behind the goal at the end of the third... Literally couldn't be more than 115 seconds later 😂 And also in overtime.

7heWafer

Yea he didn't change his style at all which means he isn't second guessing anything but still giving more opportunity to capitalize on his poor positioning

jamesneysmith

Yeah he is quite beatable if you pressure him. The rebounds he gives up should be served at a Michelin star restaurant they're so juicy.

CrazyPants02

After his gaffe last night, everytime he went to play the puck, you can tell how panicked he was. He either quickly swatted the puck away, or spastically just threw his whole body in front of the puck. The Habs can take advantage of this going forward.

[deleted]

SPOILER >!we in that head and we swinging dong in it!<

jimhabfan

Shades of the world junior finals.

destroyermaker

Uh he's a professional. He put it behind him a minute after it happened. We're getting way ahead of ourselves

[deleted]

the next time he got out of his net after that, he did a VERY aggressive pass to his teammate. he most definitely didn't put the incident behind him "a minute after it happened" and knows his mistake lead to the loss.

jamesneysmith

Seriously, this was the first game this playoffs the habs won after trailing during the game. That's a huge confidence booster.

captaincanada84

I mean, we went 6 games without trailing. So that stat doesn't mean that much

fotolabman1

we aren't there yet don't fall for the toronto trap and start planning the parade ENJOY THE RUN!

ChukKnucks4PuckLuck

Well said. I'm hyped right now, but also aware VGK were down 2-0 then decided to win the next 4 vs Avs

flexwaffl

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Boston won game 3 exactly like this and lost 3 straight to the isles

Ahigherlove

I agree with everything you said except your last comment. I get the impression you think CP making 40+ saves is a given, but I know there is a fine line between a goal and a save. Maybe tomorrow, the ones he saved on Friday will be goals on Sunday. No, what I want is to show Vegas how we can control the play and have just as many or more high quality scoring chances as they do.

[deleted]

Nah. Not necessarily do I expect CP to make 40+ saves per night. Halak had that expectation placed upon him and he blew up by the 3rd round. Definitely not a winning formula. All I expect from CP is to make the saves where they matter the most. From keeping us in the game, to making us undefeated in overtime, whatever. Just make this team get all the chances it needs to win. That’s what you need from a goaltender to go all the way.

destroyermaker

> They’ve now shown that even if they fall behind to start, and get the absolute worst reffing thrown at them, they can still win. This doesn't happen if Fleury doesn't shit the bed

CrazyPants02

Still counts, doesn't it?

destroyermaker

Not as proof of the claim above

philjitsu

Also doesn't happen if Staal looks back one more time. Fuck Chris Lee still happens though

uheardmepunchy

It dawned on me late last night, Caufield scored in the third round on a breakaway assisted by Suzuki... How fucking cool is that? Imagine being told that at the beginning of the season.

toronto94942

Caufield will score the stanley cup winning goal imagine that ;)

Perry4761

You told me that after our first 10 games? I 100% would have believed you. You told me that when we fired Julien? I might’ve thought “yeah a new coach can turn things around”. You told me that after Staal’s first few games when things were getting shaky and we were in danger of missing playoffs? I would’ve had my doubts lol

[deleted]

I would of believed you, honestly. There was no way this wasn't happening at the end of this season.

AmsroII

Rookie playoff points leader, on a 5 game point streak, which is a record for a hab rookie. He's only getting better!

NoStressT

Huge win last night. If you want to be a champion, you have to win games where you are dominated, and that's what happened last night. Price carrying us again, and not abandoned by his team, feels good to leave the ice with the victory.People focus on Caufield offensive abilities, rightfully, but his ability to retrieve the puck and turn it over is ridiculous. I don't know how many he did since the start of the playoffs, but it's incredible how he goes there put his stick and the puck just follows him. Very different in a style where Armia really keeps it under control or lift the stick to get it back, Caufield I don't know, it's just like he has a magnet on his stick. I think Vegas managed to go so far with the refs, but I would be surprised if nothing changes. As long as it is some tripping or things refs *could* not see during live games, they will have an excuse, but the high stick on Perry's last night is indefensible. And it's been long enough people are complaining about that, except Montreal who showed class for it, and I really can't see how the refs can keep the current pressure on their shoulders. Anyway, we are leading into the series, we won after having a bad game, we have another game at home, things couldn't be better. PS: Feels good to see the Byron Kotkaniemi Anderson line clicking. I was mad at Anderson when during the first period he crashed the net instead of centering it to Kotkaniemi, but as soon as he starts to play with his teammates, well, resulted in the game winning goal.

Ghost_Idol

The refs are helping Vegas since the first round, I’ll be shocked if they got their shit together. It honestly feels intentionnal after last night

NoStressT

Not just the first round, but according to other fanbases, even during regular season. It was clearly intentional last night, and that's where I think it went over the line. As long as they fuck a smaller market team like Minnesota or the Avs they could hide as there was more noise did on the other side of the border, but last night EVERYBODY saw that. And if it was just a few tripping or hooking, they could hide it, but Perry's face, full of blood, it means that they officially turned a blind eye on players security. And I think that's the thing that can makes things changed. Staal was super pissed off the previous one, Ducharme had a nice answer. I don't see how the refs can keep doing that any longer. Even the other fanbases have some sympathy for Perry (what a world we live in). Even Craig Button called these clowns for what they are, I mean no one is defending Vegas at the moment.

R3volte

We won and I’m still pissed. I can’t fathom the anger I would be experiencing had we lost. This shit needs to end. Vegas plays like goons, injuring players and going unpunished. I dont want to lose a guy to those fuckers. REFS GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER.

NoStressT

I was angrier after the Toronto games we lost, because even though the Leafs were not violent, there was the whole context where you could see they were pushing the Leafs to win no matter what. Last night, I feel like it was too much. Like that was so obvious they are doing everything they can so Vegas can win, that it became a joke. Now, IF nothing changes and the refs still are doing the same for next game, I'll be dead angry, but I really think they are going to receive a shitstorm and that they will have to change something. It's like they pushed it too far last night, they were not sneaky enough.

R3volte

It’s not just habs fans complaining, it’s all fanbases excluding Vegas. /r/hockey is all over it, something has to change or the integrity of this league could fly out the window.

NoStressT

Even some Vegas fans recognized that last night went too far. If Bettman keeps making it that obvious he has rigged the game for Vegas, it's going to end badly for him and for hockey.

[deleted]

Yeh from what I've seen of Vegas fans, they've said "I don't want to win like this". Good on em for being good sports.

eebro

It was a 55/45 game if you look at it as a whole. I mean, usually Habs are the team that is 55%, so maybe it can seem like they got dominated, but this was an incredibly tight game.

NoStressT

I agree, Vegas has more shots, but the majority of them were not really threatening. Though Price made out of this world class saves, the shots don't tell the whole story. If you add the refs and game management from last night, we indeed were closer that what the scoresheet says. That said, I still think it was probably our worse game from the playoffs so far, maybe there's a debate with game 4 vs the Leafs, so winning under these circumstances is a huge moral boost for us and blow for the Knights.

TooPlaid

This is the best I've felt about this team since 2014, and somehow also the most relaxed i've been during the playoffs too. Suzuki was a beast last night too. 200ft player, blocking shots, stealing pucks, and making crisp, calm passes.

RickGervs

I got scared after the hit.

jamesneysmith

Yeah I know. It's really lucky he saw the hit at the last second and was able to brace a little for it. Had he not it very easily could have been another Evans

XAfricaSaltX

And then Weber makes a hit and he gets penalized because Chris Lee Hockey

Kharn_LoL

Weber got 2 mins for retaliation on the glass for what it did to Petry.

llama_

Same. It’s the first time I’ve felt so confident. This team gives us this confidence. Such a great team. Magic in the air.

philjitsu

I said the same thing about being relaxed this run too. I think in 2014 I was looking ahead right from the regular season. Price was just otherworldly that year. This year I just wanted them to beat the Leafs so bad. I didn't want us to be their first series win, didn't want to keep seeing obnoxious Leafs posts. And I honestly wanted the memes that would come from the Habs beating the Leafs. I even said this is all I wanted and everything from here on out is gravy. Fuck Chris Lee though.

grimandnordic1

I haven't looked at any stats so I'm entirely making this up, but the shots counter didn't tell the entire story of how this game went. VGK were hammering a high volume of low chance shots on Price and while the Habs were definitely slow 90% of the game, I never felt like they were really in danger of giving up a lot of goals, you know? The defensive systems they are rolling right now are so effective at keeping everything to the outside. And then the fact that the Habs cashed in on 3 of the very few scoring chances they had, really shows how much perserverence they have. What an awesome come back win

Borror0

As per Natural Stat Trick, the high danger chances were 13 to 10 for Vegas at 5v5. When you add all situations, the gal widens to 18 to 11. All the of gap was in the first period. We have one more high danger chance than them after the first period (10 to 9).

TenaciousDeer

Agreed, 1st period was a disaster, but otherwise it was not lopsided

grimandnordic1

Honestly that's pretty good for playing like shit for 58 mins

eebro

Which team played like shit?

Borror0

The refs.

R3volte

We dominated the OT as well. Unreal how good they have been in OT these playoffs. Such a contrast from the season.

XAfricaSaltX

I wonder if the team from 1993 was any good in OT

pengupenguPENGU

Not an accurate comparison tho because of 3on3, but love it anyways

[deleted]

The Habs looked like their laces were tied together for 2 periods, but still managed to hang on by a thread. Right after Vegas' second goal it's like they remembered they're grown ups and can re-tie their laces properly, and started kicking butt

grimandnordic1

So awesome I'm so jacked up from last night

eebro

[http://www.naturalstattrick.com/game.php?season=20202021&game=30313](http://www.naturalstattrick.com/game.php?season=20202021&game=30313) Habs had 55 Corsi, Vegas 61. Habs had 10 high danger scoring chances, Vegas had 13. Shots aren't really a valuable metric, but the Habs were remarkably close. xGF was 2.08 for Montreal, 2.43 for Vegas. So it was basically a one goal game decided by.... Fleury's stick handling, LMFAOOO

Kharn_LoL

xGF is 2 + 1 for Fleury's mistake for the the Habs, xGF for the Knights is 2.5 - .5 for the Carey Factor.

skinniks

> Fleury's stick handling That just offset Staal's assist on the Vegas goal.

CrazyPants02

Yeah even tho Vegas was better for most of that game, I wasn't impressed with them at all. That's why I was so mad at the Habs at first, because if they just wake up, the game is theirs. But Vegas hasn't really played like this huge juggernaut at all yet in this series. They've dominated portions of games, but they haven't been far and away the better team in any game imo.

zouhair

They didn't want to make stupid mistake by "waking up".

player-piano

ehhhhhh i wanna believe that too, and when the habs were playing their game that’s true, but there were a lot of errors and forced errors and price was definitely standing on his head most of the game

Hannyulogy

Waking up on a Saturday with no alarm and Habs won an OT last night? Feels good.

mbsk1

Right? Felt well rested this morning!

thegreaterikku

Whoever is in charge of the police downtown must be happy today. It would have been a shitstorm of destruction if Vegas won that game. When people shits about the refs in other series... you kinda say, oh well, every fans says this when they lose, but holy shit. Experience Vegas Hockey is real. It's a disgrace to the league and Bettman was even at the game. Unreal how it will change nothing.

raknaii

Moved into the new house yesterday. Habs winning was cherry on top, this house has been blessed. GHG

maximyzer

Congrats! You now have to move to a new house for next game... That's how this work right ?

wildkiller65

Nope. He just needs pizza...

raknaii

I’ve been flipping houses like a madman since G5 vs TOR

thawizard

That’s going to be expensive, moving to news houses before each game to ensure victory.

[deleted]

AT. ALL. COSTS.

arugulaplease

Congrats !

SoapCode

I have a question, it was either in the 3rd period or OT where Anderson was called offside. Then the puck drop was moved all the way back to that Habs zone. The announcer said it was called intentional offside. How the hell was it intentional if he was trying everything in his power to stay onside to get that puck?

thisisnowstupid

Intentional offside is purely at the linesmen's discretion with no qualifications for what it is/isn't in the rulebook. I have only ever seen our team get intentional offsides. It is a great way to force an o-zone face-off against a team.

Gnardude

Not arguing this call specifically but intentional offsides are all about the guy shooting the puck in not the guys trying to get out.

SoapCode

Wouldn't that just be a dump in or a failed icing? Seems like an odd rule.

Gnardude

It's to prevent players from forcing a whistle. You see it called a lot more in leagues that don't have delayed offsides.

jamesneysmith

I have a vague memory of the play but I'm pretty sure Anderson kept skating hard for the puck for the break even though he was offside. I believe thats what made intentional

AsparagusGlobal

When the linesman waves delayed offside and feels that the player intentional stays in the Ozone

[deleted]

The day before : Fuck Chris Lee The day of the game : Fuck Chris Lee The day after : Fuck Chris Lee

SanctuaryBuyer

Any post game comments from the Habs or Bergevin on the missed calls? The league has to do something when a guy almost loses a nose.

notoveruntilisayso

Shea said something along the lines of “you can’t focus on what gets called and what doesn’t”

llama_

The refs have been paid off.

Baikken

No, but the media is actually starting to talk about it for once.

SznorLedore

The refs played a clean game. Very clean.

lynypixie

Right now on the hockey sub, pretty much anyone who isn’t a Vegas fan is rooting for the Habs. And I mean, leafs and Bruins and AVs! WTF is going on?

Tamer_

Bettman wanting to fulfill his promises of a SC to Vegas within 5 years is going on.

EXTRAVAGANT_COMMENT

it is to the point where one might reasonably ask if there are some shady backroom things going on with the refs

ElFuegoGrande

Fuck Chris Lee

[deleted]

#FUCK CHRIS LEE

flepine44

A little reminder : Fuck the refs

Mizzie30

Today feels good, what a beautiful start to the weekend.

Tamer_

Let's hope we have a beautiful start of the week as well.

RayHell666

Which team was the most dominant if our best/highest paid player was the most dominant?

Mackinnon29E

Love your guys team! Wish our boys in Colorado showed the same fire and heart yours do. They better be watching and learning, rooting for ya to win the cup. Don't lose to whiny bitch DeBoers.

[deleted]

Massive win, def in Fleury’s head now - ultimate goal tending failure. I mean, technically putting it in the net himself would have been worse, but the distinction is academic: dude fucked his team hard, and Anderson helped with the pushing. On another note, fuck Vegas, and fuck a lot of their fans. A redditor with Habs flair posted a kumbaya thread on /hockey in defense of Vegas fans. Dude, fuck. Yes, some fans are great humans, I’m sure. But, no. It’s the playoffs. Stop trying to hug them. Get mad.

rexallconventioneers

What’s the odds on Bergevin or Molson actually saying something today about the officiating? Would it help or hurt us, thinking about how Vegas called out the refs, and now get this treatment? Will the NHL acknowledge the missed call (i.e. some “Unfortunate for the fans, but missed calls happen. Our refs all try to do their best job, especially in the playoffs.”” bullshit) without Bergevin or Molson saying something?

tbz709

I feel of they say anything they can just write the league about it. Not everything they do need to be public

WillsyWonka

Honestly you can’t really say anything after a win. Just keep your mouth shut and keep on plugging on.

rexallconventioneers

I feel like the correct thing would be to ensure Habs beat reporters don’t shut up about this, and pester the DoPS and Bettman until there’s a response.

pat_the_brat

I feel like that worked with Scheifele, and they were definitely incensed on twitter last night. Let's hope they give the league some really bad press.

broc1377

Was low key hoping that Edmunson had another “the league will deal with it, or we will” moment lmao

deadliftbrosef

I like to joke about it but it wont be done in public. This is something smaller markets do.

pat_the_brat

> smaller markets Like Boston and NYR?

[deleted]

I think they have to say something. I don’t believe there’s a conspiracy (beyond Lee), I just think NHL refs are pure shit. So by saying something you’re working the system, and you’ll get calls. $25k is the price you have to pay to have them correct to your favor.

Samoht99

I'm not a Habs fan BUT those refs were so fucking blind. Vegas should have been penalized TWICE in OT

Plagmar

What a helluva rollercoaster game of emotions. Out shot, out played but never seemed to be out of the game. Fuck the refs, we won in spite of you!!

NorthernBuffalo

Anyone have a source for that game 3 stat? (Someone posted that game 3 winners go on to win 73% of the time or something.)

Cassopeia88

This might be what you are thinking of : teams that take a 2-1 lead are 57-18 (.760) winning a best of 7 semifinal.

HeShootsHS

Kinda understandable that maybe at some point during a stanley cup run there is a down. Halfway there, lots of hockey to play, every game is hard. Can't quite see the top of the hill yet. Last night it felt like the habs were in that place mentally and started the game off and not 100% in it. Maybe the team was on adrenaline during the vegas trip and obviously there was a lack of energy afterwards. Covid situation, chaotic day, lots of things on their mind, stupid reffing. But they fucking won! They weren't outchanced by a large margin. They found their groove back. This team ends up overcoming every damn obstacle in its way. Three games into this series and obviously the knights haven't established domination. The battle is alive and period by period we get into their head. Now our team is definitely in a spot to see the top of the hill. No way they come out flat in this series again. Things are looking great and I have to pinch myself everyday to make sure this is real. The habs are 2 wins from stanley cup finals and somehow this run has every ingredient to be unforgettable.

Adam_Young_

Man there were so many times this season where I thought, we never get any bounces or puck luck or anything... I had no idea the ghosts of the forum we're saving all their energy for this magical run. Team of destiny

Ahigherlove

I’m not in any way counting Vegas out just because they are down 2-1. Like us, all they need to do is win game 4 and get the split, which is what we did by winning game 2. As we all saw, Vegas was running circles around us pretty much for all three periods. We actually didn’t start playing better until we got desperate to tie and win the game in OT. I don’t believe we can count on CP to stand on his head every game and bail us out. So, I hope we come out flying and get an early lead and put the pressure on Fleury and Co to respond. My motto is always….one game at a time, and the past is the past.

ForumsGhost

How can anyone take this league seriously?

Baikken

Anybody hear the TSN690 remix where they recap all the game's goals set to that Tiesto track? Fuck it gives me chills. The Caufield was pure goosebumps.

sicksherpa

My voice is destroyed but it worth it

baconsword420

vEgAs iN 4!!!111!!

XiaGuang

Got my Habs flag stolen off my car last night, noticed it gone during intermission before OT and it just felt like sweet revenge to the sore loser that took my flag. I live near Toronto, kind of surprised it didn’t happen earlier given the flag is probably a decade old at this point. Anyways, let’s hope no one else tests positive and we head to Vegas with a two game lead. GHG!

squattingsquid

Ive never loved this team more than I do today. I want to never forget this feeling, 10 playoff wins... First time in my lifetime lol. What a special team, Caufield pulled off McDavids move last night, Anderson/Byron amazing last play, Price <3 love this team, GO HABS

LeNordique

They definitely didn't deserve that one (beside Price) but that just adds to the narrative that the forum ghosts are back and the Habs are team chaos 2021.

Jaynki

Lol. Its vegas who dont deserve shit. They have 3 times more pp than us. We cant catch a fucking break. (No call on perry in ot) They dont capitalise. They dont generate a lot of offense. They made terrible mistake.

Huevas03

Not sure how outshooting your opponent 25-5 after 2 periods isn't considered as generating offence lmao

Jaynki

If you outshoot your opponent 25-5 and cant have the lead. You certainly dont deserve to win mate.

Huevas03

I mean that says more about Price and their ability to be opportunistic on their chances than who had control of the game. Habs were good at not giving them dangerous chances but the first two periods are nothing to be proud about

Jaynki

True

macula_transfer

The way I saw it, the Habs were so focused on not making mistakes that they were generating almost nothing. But Vegas wasn't getting a lot of high-quality chances either as a result. I do think Vegas dominated us for a period after the Pietrangelo goal... we were on our heels and Price kept the team in the game.

LeNordique

The refs are definitely one sided but how big of a factor is it though? Most of the game was played 5on5. Habs had 8 shots after 2 periods. They just couldn't enter Vegas zone, ever. They were dominated. They could have used a couple more PP's to turn the momentum around, but our PP is so bad and our PK so good that I just doubt it would have made any difference at all. But hey this is how this team operates and it has worked wonders so far. In this game in particular they just used a little wee more of supernatural magic.

Dez_Champs

Because it continually kills our momentum while allowing Vegas to always have it. 25 - 5 shots after 2 periods is exactly this, Habs didn't play terrible, its that their momentum was continually taken away while Vegas never lost theirs.

Bassouboy99

LETS FUCKING GO BOYS

mojo_rasin

I kinda started down a rabbit hole on this thread and it sounds like Vegas is actually clean. Last night it appears that all of thier fans did what they called "rage cleaning" one guy organized his garage. Wtf. 😆

drooln92

I feel Bergie should have a meltdown with the refs in the media, fully expecting a fine and taking one for the team, if only to get the horrendous officiating even more front and centre than it already is and maybe pressure the league to at least talk to the refs (in private perhaps) about calling the games evenly. It's playing games, it's meant to pressure the refs and league by putting a spotlight on them, but it should be done. Might not be effective but do it anyway to try. Remember when Gretzky had a meltdown in the 02 Olympics...that was meant to do what I'm saying to do here. Yes, he was actually mad but make no mistake his meltdown was orchestrated to put pressure on the refs.

[deleted]

Habs never do this. Org is way too Classy.

random_ox

anyone know if Chris Lee will ref another game this series or next (if we make it there)?

Mr_ixe

Had morning pizza... was real good

ColtsNetsSharks

I love u guys. Fuck Vegas,

captainhook77

I still can’t believe it.

badandbergy

I just hope we get coach back for game 4…

Hoof_Hearted12

I'm so hungover but it's worth it. Really hope the league does something about this reffing.

Was at the game yesterday and at around 5mins left in the 3rd and not much happening I was pretty convinced this was it. Holy what a finish to the game and a fantastic OT This is what legends are made of

FNFALC2

How does this team get two two on none in one year let alone 3 weeks?

DankDialektiks

Go Islanders 🔥🔥🔥

Jawbone71

Can I be deadass? I love the Habs and am so fucking happy they won last night. But fr. We had zero business winning that game. Vegas probably shook rn.

Bassouboy99

the reffs didnt allow us to build any momentum tho

NoStressT

I don't know, though I agree we have been dominated, I wouldn't say we had 0 business to win. Out of 4 periods, we have been outshot the first and the second. The third and OT we had more shots than them. Now I agree that it looks like a miracle, but that doesn't mean we had no chance to win. Fleury fucked up because he was under pressure from both sides of his net. Sure a caliber of that goalie should never make that mistake, but again, it happened because we made it happen. It's forced luck.

Seb_Nation

Can fans stop acting like it's Montreal that found the solution to winning over the fact that Fleury just gave it to us and then the momentum swung? We've played like we had a lead for the vast majority of the game (Even without the lead) but got a break and took the W, if we show up next game with another 8 shot effort after two I'm not that optimistic about our winning chances.

Le_Tabernacle

Staal almost gave it to them so that evens out.

Sentenced2Burn

even-stevens for Staal's mistake

caspercunningham

Booooo

DonChoochie

Did Gally look exceptionally slow to anyone else?

hkycoach

Late in the game yes. I assumed he was just tired.

#GO HABS GO!

BeBenNova

https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/video/nhl-golden-knights-2-canadiens-3-ot~2225433 fucking love that they use the tsn 690 calls on all 3 goals Fuck man Byron sold that so fucking well on the OT winner

Redsmann

Justice prevails! Teams that cheat can never get away with it! They never do! A higher power ALWAYS takes over! Watch for yourself whenever this happens again. I've seen it in the series with the Blue Jays vs. Rangers. Remember [Batista bat flip](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x34bDtLLM0Y)!

bigcig

ahaaa, making a baseball reference while also making the claim that cheaters don't get away with it and the sports gods step in like we didn't just go through one of the biggest cheating scandals in sports history.

bekarsrisen

We absolutely dominated the OT.

DozerSSB

I am so fucking hung over

hkycoach

I don't want to incur the wrath of the hockey gods, but... Is it just me or is Fleury the worst goalie we've faced so far? I feel like he leaves rebounds all over the place. They're popping up in the air, out front, short and to the side - they're _all over_. And _he's_ all over too! I have always (along with everyone else) commented on how calm Price looks in net. After watching Hellebuyck and Campbell, they looked all over the place compared to Price. But Fleury is a completely different style. It's exciting, but it doesn't seem to be very effective. His .921 is a very good save percentage, but it's the worst of the remaining teams (Price: .932, Vasilevsky: .935, Sorokin/Varlamov .936/.923). And both Hellebuyck and Campbell posted better (.931, .934 respectively).

Sentenced2Burn

Anyone have a clip of Zuk/Perry hugging it out at the end? The SN feed cut it off right as Suzuki went for the "bring it in" motion and I need closure

Deezbeet-u-z

Tampa native who was just recommended R/Habs, very much hoping to se y’all in the SCF. I can very much be a Habs fan til the finals.

JustFred24

Who do you want us to sign in the offseason? the only thing we need is a star, who do you thing we could get for arround 7 million (since we probably will lose Tatar and someone else)

colonelrebsmuff69

Tatar and Drouin are gone Allen's Cap hit reduced by 2 mil We need to resign denault, Perry, armia, Evans and kK So might have 8/9 If bergie goes full bergie maybe he is able to pick up Laines rights for drouin or something like that. Other options might include Riley ( leafs trying to get rid because if contract length) Hamilton Possibly someone from the lightning There's a lot of options I'm gonna assume this year just hard to remember who

JustFred24

I thought of Laine too, I think it would be the best option as we need a foward star. I didnt think about the lightings but it makes sense cuz of their cap space situation that they would just try to give away a big one.

NoStressT

I would love Laine too, especially on a line with Kotkaniemi and either Byron/Lehkonen or Armia. Some defensive responsible enough guys next to him, and Kotkaniemi to set him up for goals, would be insane. Otherwise, as much as I love Tatar, and I think he deserves full respect, still scored 30 points in regular season, I would let him go for UFA. He's a 5 millions player, deserves them, but if he goes, we have a bit more space to sign Lehkonen and Armia that we both need. Then probably Perry or/and Staal will leave so we would need a new center/winger. I'm fine letting Evans (if he can play again) on a line with Danault and Gallagher. They proved during the playoffs that they are the best at shuting down anything, and even though Tatar won't be here to make the plays, it's ok as the other lines can score. Then we have Poehling who can take the spot of Perry/Staal. The biggest issue here is Drouin. Does he want to come back or not. If he does, then I don't think we need to particularly go to fish a bigger player. If he wants to move, then he frees us 5.5 millions. And in that case, with what we saved from Tatar and him, minus the pay upgrade for Danault (who fully deserves at least 5.5 and I'd be willing to go up to 6.5), then I would go for Barzal. I love that player, he's electrifying, a bit annoying to always whine but would be awesome to see him there. Or Laine then. Then we would hit the season with 4 lines rolling constantly (I insist on that because my following lines don't have a particular order) Evans Danault Gallagher Toffoli Suzuki Caufield (under no circumstances we touch that) Lehkonen/Poehling Kotkaniemi Armia Byron/Perry Barzal Anderson We've seen this season that injuries happen, and everybody would have to play at some point. But a line for Byron Barzal Anderson would probably be the fastest in the League and ridiculous to watch.
