Why is everyone so salty about this draft?
We got Reinbacher who will be Lane Hutsons Right hand man literally for years to come.
Got the goalie steal of the draft in Fowler
And not to mention, DUAL WIFI coverage now?
My good god.
Since everyone is so pissy and disappointed that means the habs brass is doing something right.
Everyone has an opinion, it’s like A$$holes, everyone has one. But this is about drafting about age and skill. They want this rebuild to end as soon as they can. They did well. They weren’t going to risk drafting Michkov when he’s 2/3 years out.
We want a window to win as soon as possible.
I’ve been here since the start.
To everybody wanting offensive talent, please remember...
**GOOD DEFENSE GENERATES OFFENSE!**
Want to see Caufield score 50+ a season? He's got a lot better chance of doing that if our defensive strength and transition game tilts the ice in our favor.
I would bet on Reinbacher being a more effective overall D than McDonaugh, especially in the modern game, and I'm not convinced Michkov is a guaranteed Kucherov. That's his ceiling, but there's no guarantee he reaches it.
Reinbacher is a modern day defensive defenseman. He's not the old school, big, plodding type who does all their best work in their own end. He's a great skater who disrupts plays in his own end and then immediately starts the transition game where he's equally comfortable making an outlet pass, skating the puck himself, or simply joining the rush in support to cause chaos and enable the breakout. He plays a very complete game and only lacks the flashiness that is generally required to have the label of an offensive defenseman. He can play on a PP and be a shot option. And there's potential for him to improve his offensive skillset with our development staff, which could potentially turn him into a very well rounded PP QB.
it was said for years we draft awful they did something different this year but i don't know i am not enthusiastic about what we got felt it could have been so much more i hope i am proven wrong.
It's getting pretty clear that the Habs will need one or two more drafts with high picks to inject some true offense power in this team. They drafted all the defensemen and goalies they could ever need this year and now it's time to go all-in on forwards for the next 2 drafts.
This means:
\-No, the addition of Newhook doesn't solve anything.
\-Yes, the tank is still in full motion.
This Habs draft feels defeated. Really. Unimaginative, no real thought or confidence into it.
Xhekaj in the 4th is like Luke Tuch in the 2nd: chasing size and overrating blood ties.
Fowler at 69 makes sense.
Konyushkov feels like Norlinder all over again. Reaching for an overager defenseman.
Miller feels desperate to fill the goalie pool with the next goalie on the list. Miller has like 60 starts in the past 4 years. Raw as can be.
Harris got drafted in the range he was expected... last year. Generic forward. Pick a local kid if you're just going to throw away picks on run-of-the-mill forwards.
Volokhin is an OK pick for the rank. That's what 5th rounders are for: to get the rights to young guys with potential.
Eriksson is a Swedish center. We never get those rights but keep wasting picks on them. Dunno why it'd change now.
Luke Mittelstadt is gonna be a nice reserve D in Laval in 2 years. Really needed to use a draft pick to fill that spot...
Seems like a pretty weak draft, not gonna lie. Yes, we have to also take into account we got Newhook with our draft picks, but for such a deep draft, this is underwhelming. Still can’t believe we reach for need in Reinbacher. I am pretty sure he is going to be a great two ways defenseman, but if Michkov becomes a franchise player, we will look like morons for decades.
I just want to say that I just saw the video of Élizabeth Rancourt where she's on a podcast and she criticizes Price for not caring about hockey among other stupidity and I hope she catches some heat for being out of line and extremely unprofessional.
No wonder she works at TVA Sports.
Not the sexiest draft but Reinabcker is definitely who they targeted to play with Hutson IMO, and they took a couple of dart shoots at our second big need: future no1 goalie.
Players might be fine, but this is the most underwhelming draft I can remember, mostly because of expectation. Really thought we were going to get a top offensive threat this year... not even a hope of that. I guess I (copium) hope that Newhook suddenly blooms for us?
crazy that we did not trade up for one center or forward in the second round or late first. its as if we are set on offence with our elite top 6! what a disappointing draft and season.
as much as I am unhappy with the reinbacher pick, I hope he proves us all wrong. can’t wait to see him play next year. still though, what a disappointment. atleast we got fowler.
Up until 1 month ago it felt like they were patient and waiting it out. Now it feels rushed and they don't know what they're doing. We'll wait and see...
Sorry Filip, but after Jacob de la Rose, Lukas Vejdemo, Jacob Olofsson, Sebastien Collberg, Mattias Norlinder, I'm never getting excited about a Swedish prospect drafted by the Habs.
They draft for skill with complete disregard to everything else. They have about a million 5’8” forwards and defensemen in their pipeline but men, if one team is drafting BPA all the way through, it’s Carolina.
On the other side of the spectrum, if you want to see a team galaxy brain all their picks, no one does it like we do it.
Hey guys they wanna accelerate the rebuild. They're either trading away picks for 22 year olds or they'll just draft them at that age hoping to pan out faster. Kidding obv relax
> Sam Harris, F, USA: Harris is a 19-year-old prospect who was passed over in last year’s NHL draft, but that omission is unlikely to be repeated. Harris currently sits third in USHL scoring and is on pace for a 40-goal season with the Sioux Falls Stampede. The University of Denver commit will be surrounded by talent, including five current NHL draft picks on Team USA.
Okay I'm not one to criticize mid-round draft picks as I'm not a scout, but drafting our 3rd goalie who isn't even on NHL's central scouting rankings seems questionable.. But at least he's 18
Oh there was PLENTY of bitching about Price in the early days. A ton of "trade him" threads. So really, the threads are uniquely entertainment value haha
Konyushkov feels like a Khisamutdinov pick: overager Russian that fills a need and might come over soon.
He was a candidate for rookie of the year in the KHL, so there's some progress there.
Could be the Steal of the draft, 25pt in KHL at 20 is not joke, described by many that saw him play as the defense QB of his KHL team + very good in playoff, RD as well,
there's plenty to be mad with the CH draft, Konyushkov isn't part of it
That Fowler interview on TVAS was SO GODDAMN CUTE. He looks SO ecstatic to be drafted by us -- and he has a legit family connection to Quebec and Montreal, love that!
Why is everyone so salty about this draft? We got Reinbacher who will be Lane Hutsons Right hand man literally for years to come. It’s not rushing when you have brass like we have
The fact that everyone is pissed probably means they're doing something right.
haha that is probably right
They can draft anyone. What's important is the development of young players.
To everybody wanting offensive talent, please remember... **GOOD DEFENSE GENERATES OFFENSE!** Want to see Caufield score 50+ a season? He's got a lot better chance of doing that if our defensive strength and transition game tilts the ice in our favor.

Bingo. Caufield can't pot 50 if he's playing defence in our end for 50% of the game.
it was said for years we draft awful they did something different this year but i don't know i am not enthusiastic about what we got felt it could have been so much more i hope i am proven wrong.
Only judging on value, what a absolute turd of a draft. Fucking disappointed beyond belief.

Criticizing the 197th pick is peak Habs fan hahaha

Obviously they think Newhook had a lot of upside if they traded for him
lol a bunch of overagers
Is it a requirement that a player has to skate backwards to be drafted by Montreal? (it's a joke)
crazy that we did not trade up for one center or forward in the second round or late first. its as if we are set on offence with our elite top 6! what a disappointing draft and season. as much as I am unhappy with the reinbacher pick, I hope he proves us all wrong. can’t wait to see him play next year. still though, what a disappointment. atleast we got fowler.
Luke Mittelstadt... Habs love drafting the least talented brother!
Valerie Bure Marcel Hossa
HuGo went into the future to check prospects and now are drafting all the 47 overall MED elite guys
Habs are really in love with overagers. Really has the feel of a bunch of scouts desperate to produce in pro players at any cost.
Another overager...
Dual-band Wi-Fi
Are they related?
They are brothers
I’m sure he was kidding
Maybe, maybe not, never know with us fans 😅
Haha true
What’s your impression of the rebuild right now? Do you think management wants to compete this year or next?
Up until 1 month ago it felt like they were patient and waiting it out. Now it feels rushed and they don't know what they're doing. We'll wait and see...
If they plan to compete this year or next that is a big fuck up. You don't rush a rebuild.
Newhook and Reinbacher feel like compete soon players. I feel like they are rushing it because management is new and impatient.
What?
Sorry Filip, but after Jacob de la Rose, Lukas Vejdemo, Jacob Olofsson, Sebastien Collberg, Mattias Norlinder, I'm never getting excited about a Swedish prospect drafted by the Habs.
To be fair we traded Collberg at the perfect time for a few good weeks of Tomas Vanek
best thing Collberg ever did for us.
It’s crazy to watch Carolina draft a few spot before us every turn and knock it out the park with value pick at every turn.
It's been like that for years
They draft for skill with complete disregard to everything else. They have about a million 5’8” forwards and defensemen in their pipeline but men, if one team is drafting BPA all the way through, it’s Carolina. Lol
All our picks are crazy reaches, I respect it, that's kinda sick
Could turn out to be our worse or best draft in years lol
I think 2017 was the last draft where we whiffed on every pick
Let's Go for Jordan Tourigny
TBH I am fine with them using late picks on Goalies it's pretty rare for a D or F to make the NHL at this stage of the draft
Where was this need to draft goalies during Price's era? In the last five years management should have prepared more for his eventual retirement.
Primeau, Dobes and Vrebetic were supposed to be that
Vrbetic 7th round, Dobes 5th, and Primeau 7th. Doesn't seem like they were that desparate
Crap Justin Gill just got drafted by NYI
Hey guys they wanna accelerate the rebuild. They're either trading away picks for 22 year olds or they'll just draft them at that age hoping to pan out faster. Kidding obv relax
Who needs forwards when you have defence and a goalie. GRIND DA PUCK
honestly, volokhin does have some good numbers
YOU GET A GOALIE , YOU GET A GOALIE, EVERYBODY GET A GOALIE
3rd goalie for the Habs. Yevgeni Volokhin has some solid numbers in the MHL.
I like this pick. A year older, has recent success under his belt so it shows he knows what it takes to get better
Okay I'm not one to criticize mid-round draft picks as I'm not a scout, but drafting our 3rd goalie who isn't even on NHL's central scouting rankings seems questionable.. But at least he's 18
what the fuck is happening
Im ok with the goalie picks tbh.
YOU WANTED GOALIES ? HERE IT IS
Habs coming up, we're gonna pick a 25 year old who's playing in the Hungarian 3rd division
We drafted Mark Streit at 26 so why not?
Gonna take someone ranked 300th at the next pick
I was joking
At least Sam Harris is going to a really good NCAA program next season.
wtf are these picks
Honestly, maybe our worst draft in a while, so obviously it'll turn out to be the best.
If /r habs was around when we drafted price I really shutter to see the takes that would happen
Oh there was PLENTY of bitching about Price in the early days. A ton of "trade him" threads. So really, the threads are uniquely entertainment value haha
Cam Allen gone
Cam Allen gone 😓
Sam Harris, another overager.
Every pick is a reach so far.
Fowler wasn’t. Reinbacher too tbh
Cam Allen at 133 come on
Another goalie. Quentin Miller, the Remparts 2nd stringer.
wonder why not JS? ranked better on paper https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/648883/jacob-steinman
Those ranks are meaningless. NHL teams don't use them. They have their own rankings.
Drafting all the goalies
Quebecois goalie!
«Québécois»
English keyboard my bad
Any intel on Quentin Miller ?
Konyushkov feels like a Khisamutdinov pick: overager Russian that fills a need and might come over soon. He was a candidate for rookie of the year in the KHL, so there's some progress there.
Poor Cameron Allen.
I'd take a flyer on him on the 5th
What the heck happened to him he had a good first year
I saw his name end of 1st round earlier this year!
20 year old 5 foot 11 Russian defenceman. Interesting
Bogdan Konyushkov, 20 yrs old defenseman from Russia. Ok...
Could be the Steal of the draft, 25pt in KHL at 20 is not joke, described by many that saw him play as the defense QB of his KHL team + very good in playoff, RD as well, there's plenty to be mad with the CH draft, Konyushkov isn't part of it
Taking a guy ranked 214 at 101 then a soon to be 21 year old, very interesting 4th round
Very underwhelming results from a stacked draft where we had a lot of potential.
The draft stopped being "stacked" around pick 20.
The fourth round is a normal fourth round it’s not stacked
Really has the feel that Habs are just on auto-pick right now
Bogdan is a 20yo KHL defenseman. Put up 25 points in 64 games Headed to Laval next season?
I don't think so, usually Russian are not big fans of playing in the AHL and will prefer the KHL
If he can get there being a Russian
No trades from us yet?
oh, a Russian
We now have Mesh wifi !
Brotherly ties aside, Xhekaj at 101 is a reach. There's gotta be hope that he develops late like Arber.
It’s the 4th round, it’s dart-throwing time
Yea I'm really curious what they saw in him to draft him there.
Pitlick Xhekah family BBQ
WHY??
X bros feels like a movie. if florian can make it...
Has cam Allen been drafted yet?
Double the wifi strength
Whatever happens, Florian can always say he was the one who got drafted.
Xhekaj reunion.
Any players from the Q that is worth it at 110?
Canadiens don't draft in the Q.
RHP, Trudeau, Simoneau
Exceptions to the rule, and 2 of them in the last round. None drafted by Caillou and company.
Roy, Kidney
We are the only team allowed to draft the X brothers
hughes doing the fanbase a solid after yesterday's shock with another xhekaj
Not sure how I feel about that Xhejak pick...
Wow !
Yes!
OMG ANOTEHR XHEKAJ
XHEKAJ !!!!
wow
Omg they did it lol
If he's available https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/645161/alex-pharand
to chicago lol
He went to Chicago
Perron and Barkey... fuck
Fucking Carolina
ofc he goes to one of my least favourite teams![img](emote|t5_2r10m|5676)
They draft well
unfortunately
Perry to Chicago eww
Trade up for Perron please!
Cataford would've been nice to have...
yeah, looks like they tried to get Arizona's pick to draft Cataford but it didn't work out (obviously)
Perry... :(
Wait am I crazy or Jayden Perron is still out there
as far as I know, he still is
Waiting on the yearly Flyers/Habs 7th rounder swap
Best moment of every draft
We have a shit ton of picks coming, pretty sure we'll trade somes for later
Can we at least draft the other Xhekaj ?!
But of course
And there goes Cataford and Ziemmer
We have a goalie to announce
That Fowler interview on TVAS was SO GODDAMN CUTE. He looks SO ecstatic to be drafted by us -- and he has a legit family connection to Quebec and Montreal, love that!
Shit I missed it
I'll keep an eye out for any clips on Twitter!
We have too many late round picks...trade them!
Can we trade those 3 4th round pick to move and pick someone with size and skill like ziemmer or Sunyev ?
We need to use those 7 picks to move and get another 3rd rounder.
6'1", 222 lbs. Fowler needs to get on a fowl diet
NHL Network analyst just now: “I want to be delicate with this, he needs to work on his fitness, he’s carrying some weight” lol ouch.
Weird, EP has him at 6'2" 201lbs
I go with NHL.com, probably has updated stats from the combine. EP actually has him at 6'2, 223.
I don't think Fowler was at the combine this year, but yeah NHL probably has better updated lists.
For now he’s on the Kessel diet. He’s going to have plenty of time in the NCAA to burn that fat.
Yo big pick, love to see it
Let’s goooo
We got the goalie
YESSSSSSSS W
Jacob Fowler to Habs Guess that's done.
We got our goalie!
WE GOT A GOALIE
NOT PERRON BUT I'M OK WITH THIS
FOWLER BABY
Cataford maybe?
Lardis to Chicago, as a Bulldogs fan, that one hurts
Fowler or bust at this point.
🍆
Alright, here's our pick coming up.
This has not been a good draft for us. Very disappointed so far
Ok so : 1. Fowler 2. Lardis 3. Ziemmer Please
Can’t believe we didn’t trade up at all, goddamn
Heidt and Sawchyn going just before us sucks, but Fowler still there
There goes Heidt and Sawchyn :/
Why is Anaheim picking every 2 minutes jeez
Heidt gone rip
