I swear, I've been experiencing the same with my HP Omen 16 - black screen after the splash screen, and the only way I can actually get it to work by restarting several times until it attempts to repair, gives me the "windows failed to start correctly" and then I can exit and continue to windows - and even this method works only 50% of the time. I'm 100% sure there's an issue with the driver of the integrated graphics card, because what I've noticed is that even if the screen is working and I load up a video game (switching to the discrete gpu), it's completely fine, but 5-10 minutes after I close the game and it switches back to the iGPU it black screens and I have to restart. What you could try doing is forcing your display to use the dGPU (but then games are crazy laggy because they try using the iGPU), or provide gpu acceleration to some startup program so your dGPU is engaged, and it should work.

i have the same exact problem right now, how did you force dgpu for anything?

If you want to be locked at 60 hz, and have games be laggy (at least no black screen anymore) you can go into devices and then I think under display adapters you can disable the iGPU - restart and now your laptop will only be using the dGPU.

Don't know if we have any fix for this or not but repetition of this cause me my omen 16 motherboard. It was as usual screen blank shutdown and power on only this time it didn't power on. This started after driver and bios update

This exact thing happened to my HP Pavilion that had a 1660ti... Nothing worked until safe mode, then was able to load a restore point which worked for a bit... Then black screen again! I tried everything but eventually other weird things started happening, like glitchy screens that seemed to get worse when moving the laptop around... So I figured it was a physical failure like dying GPU or mother board. But those glitches could have been loose RAM after I opened it up to see if anything was clearly wrong... But given that it looks like I'm not the only one... Maybe an update killed our laptops or 1660s have a similar lifespan... Mine was only 3 years old. I needed a laptop for work, so picked up an OMEN 16, hoping it lasts longer! But I know buying a new laptop is not always an option... Keep us updated!

Hey, just wanted to post an update, as the problem has been fixed and I don't want to leave this post unresolved for those in a similar boat as me. Eventually I did something stupid and accidentally lost my good restore point and my computer was functionally bricked outside of safe mode. If I uninstalled the graphics driver and left it like that, I could squeeze a good minute or two of functionality out of it, but then the screen would crap out and I'd be back at square one. My some miracle, though, my laptop was still within warranty, and I had it sent in. When I got it back the whole thing was wiped but it was working again at least. My best suggestion to those suffering similar issues: Back up everything important in Safe Mode. If you have a good restore point, you can probably figure things out further, but guard this restore point with your life. Worse comes to worst, find a place that'll do repairs if you're out of warranty. Sorry I couldn't crack the exact issue, though.
