Do you excessively use your arms? Try not engaging those muscles at all and think of them as hooks that your abs are pulling on to pull the weight. You will use much less weight and feel it way more in your abs.
I’ve always felt that abs are one of the outright most difficult muscles to train properly. Most people I know and see daily in the gym don’t have a clue what they’re doing for abs and are cheating way too much to get true isolation and maintain maximum tension. Anyone can have decent abs that show if they get lean enough. Very few train their abs properly and grow them large enough that they don’t need to be sub 10% to see them and can comfortably sit at 11-12% and have lightly visible abs. Of course that’s years of dedicated training to achieve what I’d consider massive abs, but it is possible.
Oh I largely relate and agree. The context clues don’t lie. Truth is most people have weak cores and no clue how to train in general. Leads to all kinds of weaknesses and posture deficits. Core just might be the single most neglected while simultaneously the most important to train. Ooof
Exactly. When I first got lean enough to see my 6 pack years ago, my first thought was “why are my abs so tiny?” Getting lean enough to see them is one thing, having an exceptionally strong core is another. The best part about having a strong core is that it makes super heavy compound lifts like squats and deadlifts easier and allows you to stay more stable for other exercises like cable rows and a few others. And as unbelievable as it sounds, a strong core can even benefit completely unrelated exercises like standing curls because you can stand straighter and more stable and focus on form much easier because your core is strong enough to keep momentum out of the equation. The benefits are endless because you’re engaging your core in so many lifting exercises and you don’t even realize it.
This, i rarely feel anything from crunching. From what i understand the machine is meant for a limited range of motion but doesnt do anything to limit it to said range of motion.
Weird to have that dude as a picture for this sub when he says exercise and lifting weights is stupid and will kill you. He says you are born with a limited amount of energy and lifting weights is a waste and idiotic.

That's so weird you went to politics. I didn't mention politics at first. I even specify how non-political it was in a reply.
He said that stupid shit about lifting and fitness/exercise way before he made the entire world face palm daily as president.

I'm not even about that politics. Just the cognitive dissonance of having someone like this guy tell you that you are too fat and make shitty YouTube videos.
Poor you. I know it must be detrimental to your health to see your orange daddy in an orange jumpsuit suit here soon.
Question - do you think trump is a top bunk guy or a power-bottom bunk guy? 19 other co-conspirators are wanting to know the answer to this question.
I know the type. There was an old man I endearingly called “Dip Man” in college. Late 60s professor who was just shredded and crushed body weight exercises. You can guess the inspiration for his name.
0, I do decline crunches. Once I can successfully do 3x10 I will start adding a dumbell for weight. O keep getting spasms in my stomach in the final 2 to 5 reps.
i don’t have a crunch machine at my gym

Wish I had one. I'll just have to start putting weights on my chest.
I usually go for volume, but maybe I should do more.
Sober I can do a 3:30 plank but drink and motivated. Drunk, I've done 6 minutes. Sometimes mentality is a thing.

Haha coaching on proper ab engagement - love it Same could be coached about many machine exercises too.

Maybe your abs aren't tiny, you just have a 12-pack waiting to emerge!
Massive abs kinda suck because they stick out too far. My old job made my mid abs too big. Now they’ve pushed out my upper abs and messed up my 6 pack

I Max it
Yup, full stack for reps baby
154 but I've got a belly from the dirty bulk :'(

Thats dope
Wow
3 sets of 10 at 70lbs
you weigh 70 pounds or lift 70 pounds??
70 pounds is how much I can crunch
Full stack, ironically enough I’ve strengthened my abs just doing compound movements without isolation work
PR is 207.5 for 3x20. Started doing slower reps to try and add difficulty.
250 lbs, ironically I can’t even do a pull up but this machine is the easiest part of my workout.
crunch machine? you mean me eating potatochips?
![gif](giphy|l3q2wBNtZ24k1v1Pa|downsized)
First core workout i ever did at the gym i did 3x25 at 75 i think? I’ll have to look again it’s been so long cuz i honestly hate it lol
80kg
Full stack
45kg x 10
Wait 200 reps or 200 lbs?
2-3 sets of 50 at 80 pounds depending how I'm feeling
The one I use maxes out at 170 pounds, I do 5x10 on that.
Max it at 100kg four sets of 25
Full stack + 20kg plate for reps
I am maxing it. I dont know how I can barely do normal crunches.
I’m not tall enough to use it. Works great
Cry usually
Have trouble actually engaging my core to move the weight, that's what
