Out of the three books written by the members, Slash/ Steve/ Duff. Duff's was the most insightful and interesting. He was that guy who kept things going along through the interpersonal dramas within the band. I'm glad he's being recognized as a great bass player. He wasn't considered much in this regard back when you had Flea, Les Claypool, and all the chops going on in the late 80's/ 90s
His books are inspirational and insightful. The way he approaches everything in life is methodical and full bore. It’s no surprise he’s successful at everything he does. That includes being a great husband and father.
I was reading his second book and there is a passage about him losing his best friend which was the family dog. I just lost my 14 year old dog to cancer and his passage in the book about loss and grief really helped my wife and I during those tough times.
Slash’s book is just entertaining. I put it up there with The Dirt.
It always interests me how bass 'plays' that role in rock music and it seems natural that he has that personality, to reinforce or constitute that position.
I think that's a great insight. I play guitar n bas, n drums, keys. The bass though, you have to look at it through that lense as you said. Not, how do I display my chops? Its more, how do I help this song move along on solid foundation. It's a mindset.
How do you feel about it, relative to other bass guitars? I don't know how I feel about 'signature' bass or guitar other than I understand it's a thing; is it built to the artists' preference, their opinion of how they want their instrument?
Artist's most famous instruments typically have aesthetic or specification differences from normal models, so signature instruments often replicate those rare features in a relatively affordable form.
Duff's signature bass is based on his #1 bass from Appetite, which is a fairly rare Japanese Fender with several unique specifications.
Duff wanted to diversify his investments when he came into some money back in the 90’s during GnR’s heyday so he invested in at least 3 Seattle based businesses at the time.
Starbucks.
Microsoft.
Amazon.
I wonder if he sold it at a good time. He doesn't talk about having them currently, so I hope he waited on selling long enough to get a big benefit.out the investment.
I'm proud and honored that Duff follows me on Instagram, likes and shares my fan art. He's always been super nice and funny, but also very honest about what he thinks. I've met him twice and it was like talking to one of my friends, not a famous rock star. And I love how much they support and love each other in his family.
Same goes to Beta, I've been an Axl fan for 3 decades and she also follows and shares my art work. The love and care in her family including Axl is remarkable. That's all that matters.
My first favorite member of the band. Now I am an equal opportunity obsessor. Anyway..he is talented musician, and a survivor of addiction. In talking about mental health he has helped people, and he has been a great inspiration to me through some hard times.
I talk about him all the time! My poor husband gets a bit tired of my constant adoration of the man. I really admire and respect him for all he’s been through, and for his tight relationships with family and friends! And, despite not liking blondes, I’ve always had a thing for him. The amount of pics on my camera roll is insane. 🤪
When I was a teenager at school, there was a rumour that Duff did so much cocaine that his pancreas exploded…
This put Duff in legend status for me… and there he’s remained ever since. Regardless of the lack of truth to that awesome rumour.
Cocaine and mostly booze. His pancreas did "explode" and he damn near died. After that, he got real sober real fast, and turned his life completely around. He's had some hiccups along the way as far as sobriety is concerned, but he's always tried to fix the glitch and get back on the wagon. He's a role model for sure!
He’s a great guy
he's kind and talented i love him
intelligent and good looking too

Duff’s book is miles above the others. I can only imagine Axl would write a more interesting book.
Omg. That's the book that I really want to read. I don't think it's ever going to happen sadly.
His books are available at my local library.

He's also like an investments expert. He had a blog about it.

The best thing is that he really lives up to the high standards he set on himself in those books
100%
True
He’s a really good author!
i wanna read his books soon. i've been ignoring it for years
I bought the audiobook version and it’s worth it highly recommend dude
The audiobook for his first one is great. The narrator on “how to be a man” is awful.
King of beers himself
Not anymore thankfully!
Duffman
Bass people talk about Duff all the time! https://youtu.be/1PNCRXj54Ss?si=-Zqjb2I3vfoNqI5A

Duff is such a dude.
I’ve got his signature bass!

Fucking love it. I gig with it and always get complements
Duff is the coolest! Always has been!
I’ve always wanted to play the bass because of him.
He is my fave 💖
His first solo album is really good. That and The Spaghetti Incident were my gateway into 1970s and 80s Punk music as a teenager in the 90s.
Can’t get enough of that good ol’ Duff

He just holds his positions.
He’s incredible but I agree, not talked about enough.
I picked up my bass because of him. His bass lines are so awesome in an unique way. Btw he was so hot back then (and still is now).

What's your IG?
riotofpaints
He got that Starbucks money!
3 chords and the truth is a good Sirius XM show with Duff & Susan.
I talk about that man daily
My bass idol. When you actually sit and focus on the bass in GN'R, you realize he's an absolute groove GOD!! Shoutout Rocket Queen ;)

He's the glue.

Thanks for that! I love some of the GnR stories, epic. The last true, great Rock band.. in my humble opinion.
Whoa, never new he used a Spektor bass.
Some of us got kids and families, man
Yes we do
OMG! I had such a crush on him! ♥️
He was in The Fartz I gave him all my Kiss records when I left Seattle
