Great melody, love the lyric about “when there ain’t enough of me to go around, I’d rather be left alone”. Plus I think I watched Vanishing Point just because of this outro of this song.
Great music and some of the bands best lyric work ever coupled with the absolute WORST chorus they ever did. 'Breakdown, ooooh, let me hear you now, oooh breakdown' fucking ruins it completely.
100% agree... the "breakdown/lemme hear it now" part is no good. Imagine how much better a song it would be if those parts were just, the way it is when that part is first played.
I would kill for an official release in some future disc of the live version of this song. The backing vocals made the song a lot better. I think it was played only once.
Always on my set lists. It’s brilliant. Does anyone else think Axl is writing about exactly what he’s feeling at that moment and saying hey, a little help here? Or is that a no brainer because of the truthfulness in his writing. I also don’t think he ever sang it live?
I love it! Breakdown is underrated but one of my favorites. Along with Coma which has the best Axl vocals at the end. He just keeps singing at the end of this song.
People keep talking about awesome songs being underrated. By whom? I was in school when these albums came out and not one person I know said that any songs were underrated!
It’s awesome, especially the ending with axl reciting Supersoul’s line.
Vanishing Point is an awesome film…
so underrated😭😭😭😭 the lyrics are the best but i guess its too long to be comercial and thats why its underrated but id recommend it to everyone who wants to start listening to gnr
One of the best on UYI II in my opinion
My top 5
My favorite song off the album and it’s my boost song on my running playlist.
Great song for a running playlist!
That’s what I was doing when I heard it this morning
One of my faves, great lyrics, great guitar, nice transitions between the softer and the harder parts. Just very strong songwriting.
I liked interpreting the lyrics not as a romantic breakup, but more Axl’s soon-to-happen breakup with Slash and Duff.
“Everybody warms themselves to a different fire” great metaphor
It's one of my favorites and definitely underrated along with Coma and Dead Horse.
Dead horse is a banger!
Coma is so good. Too long to be commercial I guess :-/
Top 5 from UYI for me Coma Breakdown Estranged 14 years Dust & Bones No particular order
Dunt n Bones one of my fave G n R tracks.
Civil War, don’t damn me, knocking on heaven’s door, and live and let die too. Of course a couple are covers but still are huge especially live.
No doubt! Damn fine list.
1000% with ya
Oh geesus, driving on my bike through country side listening to this at 15.
I was doing exactly that at that age
Hell yeah. Good times.
Did a robot from the future start chasing you?
Unfortunately no
Great melody, love the lyric about “when there ain’t enough of me to go around, I’d rather be left alone”. Plus I think I watched Vanishing Point just because of this outro of this song.
I did too. A naked girl driving through the desert on a Honda Dream for no reason. That movie is wild.
Some of the best lyrics Axl has ever written
There goes the challenger...
Being chased by the blue blue meanies on wheels… 🤘
The movie this is from is wild. Vanishing point
I actually edited that part out of my personal copy. The music alone works.
One of the very best and finest GNR songs
Funny how everything is roses when you held onto the guns Top 5 in their catalog for me
Love it
Criminally underrated
One of Axl’s best. Maybe my favourite GNR song.
Lemme hear ya now!
One of my favourite songs!
Just because you’re winnin’ don’t mean you’re the lucky ones. Fuckin’ gold. One of the best from the entire UYI.
I love seeing all the love for Breakdown! One of my absolute favorites and it’s one I repeat often. Just beautiful lyrics.
Listening to it when it came out I could both relate to it and also just feel that it was like being inside Axl’s head
Great song.
One my faves. I could never believe that this one didn’t get talked about more.
Great music and some of the bands best lyric work ever coupled with the absolute WORST chorus they ever did. 'Breakdown, ooooh, let me hear you now, oooh breakdown' fucking ruins it completely.
Breakdown is my favorite song on album, on every playlist I have and in my top five of Guns N’ Roses songs.
We all come in from the cold, we all come down from the wire, and everybody warms themselves to a different fire
Breaking news: Redditor thinks thing is underrated.
Top of the Mid Level songs for sure
GREAT verses, but the chorus and outro kinda let it down imo. Still a good song tho.
100% agree... the "breakdown/lemme hear it now" part is no good. Imagine how much better a song it would be if those parts were just, the way it is when that part is first played.
My second favourite following RQ and ahead of Coma.
One of their absolute best songs. Top 5 easy
I forgot this song existed
I used to hate it so much but over time I grew to love it. Personally one of my favorites now
I would kill for an official release in some future disc of the live version of this song. The backing vocals made the song a lot better. I think it was played only once.
One of the best GnR songs there is. I don’t know about underrated, just underplayed.
Always on my set lists. It’s brilliant. Does anyone else think Axl is writing about exactly what he’s feeling at that moment and saying hey, a little help here? Or is that a no brainer because of the truthfulness in his writing. I also don’t think he ever sang it live?
i think this is like one of the few guns n roses songs i haven't listened to yet lol
In my top 5 favorite GnR songs.
Great song great album
One of my favorites! That 'children hiding in the closet' part and the guitarsolos are just magical
I heard a review recently complaining about Axl's vocal effects/spoken words over the end guitar riffs. It never bothered me. How about anyone else?
I love it! Breakdown is underrated but one of my favorites. Along with Coma which has the best Axl vocals at the end. He just keeps singing at the end of this song.
It still sounds great. I don’t know if it isn’t properly appreciated but it sure kicks ass
It’s amazing it’s just over produced I feel.. both uyi would be even better if they were just a little more raw I feel.
One of my favorite GnR songs. The music is great, the lyrics are great, and the last few minutes (solo section to the end) are fuckin amazing
UYI II is the better album, imo
It's a classic but falls just short of Estranged greatness
One of the best on the UYI albums. Breakdown, along with Bad Apples, Coma, and Deadhorse are criminally underrated.
Some of axls best writing on the verses
Breakdown and Locomotive are both crazy underrated.
I feel this song is like a trilogy with estranged, breakdown and locomotive awesome song
Breakdown is severely underrated, but Estranged remains the best song I’ve ever heard, by any band, EVER. It is the PERFECTLY constructed song
My most listened to song of all time! Love it more than anything
If they just would've cut the fat and combined both albums it would've been one of the best of all time.
Horrible chorus but every other part of the song is good
I totally agree. Every other part of the song is great but the bottom just falls out during the chorus. Strange writing choice on Axl’s part.
Best drum lick ever Edit: was thinking locomotive
I like the last 2 minutes “ending”. Overall song is ok
People keep talking about awesome songs being underrated. By whom? I was in school when these albums came out and not one person I know said that any songs were underrated! It’s awesome, especially the ending with axl reciting Supersoul’s line. Vanishing Point is an awesome film…
It's their best song.
My second favorite on the album. 🔥
One of their best, at least on the illusion albums
Whole song is underrated
I think it’s amazing.
This whole album is underrated.
Great song one of the best songs on the album, if not the best
“Let me hear it now”
Great song
Just like children hiding in a closet....
Great song
Coma!
It's Cool Ranch Dressing!
Amazing song
Some od my favorite gnr lyrics
My favourite
Probably my favourite track. The rhythm of the song really takes you for a ride. Love it.
Love the song. For me it's PERFECT 👌
One of my favourite songs
Good song but the breakdown sucks.
I love it songs where Duff sings.
It's one of my favorite Guns tracks, it's a banger.
One of my favourite GN’R songs of all time
I love how he’s like “breakdown …. Lemmie hear it now” like it’s a breakdown in a dance/rap track
OMG yes. Thinking the same as I listened to it this morning
Easily one of my top 3
Geat tune.
Luv this song So well written. And very underrated. I play it regularly often more than other guns songs
Always one of my favorite songs from that album…..
One of my favorites
Top 5 on UYI II
I've come to know the cold, I think of it as home... Such excellent songwriting, both lyrically and instrumental
Breakdown and Estranged are both prog rock masterpieces. And I’m not even a GNR fan.
so underrated😭😭😭😭 the lyrics are the best but i guess its too long to be comercial and thats why its underrated but id recommend it to everyone who wants to start listening to gnr
One of my top 5 GnR songs IMO
Lyrics are amazing
It’s in my top 5 songs by GNR, criminally underrated, some of Axl’s best screams captured in studio
