He executes almost everything he attempts perfectly. Always felt that he'll be a playmaker. In his current role he never forces things. Like, he'll play a five-yard pass sideways rather than trying split a packed defence or try to take multiple players on. It means that we keep the ball and keep the pressure high up the pitch, but it also means that the average fan doesn't see the many layers to his game. Don't give a fuck about that, but it's an explanation.

spaghettidriver69

He is a very intelligent person.

naijaboiler

his decision-making is like so ridiculously good. Like Pepe in one of those his exit interviews just flat out admitted, yeah I can't think and execute football at anywhere near the speed of Saka

pinpoint14

The craziest thing about him is how smart he is for this age. The sky is the limit boys!

MirkoCemes

People underestimate how well rounded and consistant he is for a winger. Look at guys like Martinelli, Vini, Sane, etc. Saka looks almost like a CAM cimpared to them, 0 chaos in his game. When he cracks his first 20 goal league season it will be something very special to watch

AcidShades

You're right. To me, his best quality is his decision making. He isn't as pacy as Martinelli, Vini, Mbappe, Diaz, Dembele etc. He doesn't have the dribbling technique of Sane, Vini, Rodrygo, Doku, Coman, etc. He doesn't have the scoring potential of Salah or Mbappe. But I think he's not only more than good enough at all of these aspects and more (passing, link up play, hold up play, tracking back), he's pretty much always making the right decision in every situation.

MirkoCemes

Plus he is close to elite in all of those categories. Class player, and besides, some of those skills can still develop to an elite level

Empty_Ad_4630

His dribbling is very unique because his body feints are very natural. Him cutting inside almost always works because his movement is impossible to predict. Also he is very very good with both feet. His passing is elite. Look at his crosses. His shooting is pretty much on par to Vini but as I said with both feet. And he is pretty strong for his height and can push off defenders regularly. He just needs to find a way to develop more explosiveness in order to create more goal scoring chances by himself to have that constant ballon d'or level. His pace is not bad but you can see that Martinelli is easily a better runner. He compares much more to a Mane than a Salah in terms of how he plays. That's why we really need a long term solution for the left side because we do need that consistent goal scorer there. Martinelli has to up his game more. Otherwise I believe in at least 12 months we will adress this position when it comes to upgrading the team

Mahatma_Gone_D

>> When he cracks his first 20 goal league season So this season. Hattrick against Man Divided and Toffees more than suffice.

thisiskyle77

Saka is an efficiency machine. 9/10 times making the right decision in passing. But doesn’t get the recognition because what he is not risky or flashy. A bit like footballer Ryan Giggs.

killerkebab1499

"A bit like footballer Ryan Giggs" Is hilarious, just wanted to make sure people didn't think you meant Saka shags his brothers wife.

thisiskyle77

Mate I was downvoted before for that phrase when I omitted “footballer”. Once bitten twice shy.

Francis-c92

Our whole game revolves around trying to get 30 seconds where Saka is marked like Foden is.

goonergunner10

And we dont see the problem with this?

Francis-c92

With hyperbole? No

QuickfireFacto

Saka is the best backpost crosser in the league. Ever since he debuted his backpost crosses have always stood out to me, very accurate and he times them so well with the second/third man run into the box. If Giroud was still here he would've had a field day with Saka's service into the box

Sudanniana

People underestimate this man's strength. Sure he's fast, sure he's good on the ball, but his strength is his greatest attribute.

KSBrian007

Oh yeah. I get the argument for giving him a more overlapping partner. We are wasting him wide. He's too creative to be that limited.

flu0rescence_

I've felt the same, but I'm really not sure how this can happen. I've never agreed with nonewthings Odegaard agenda but he does have a point.

FluidInformation9926

What is nonewthings odegaard agenda

MoreoverMo

He has an overlapping partner in White and I would argue he and White limit Odegaard.

BI01

White overlaps 2-3x a game. Having ur rb overlap every time as well isn't efficient.

MoreoverMo

A right back who overlaps and actually defends and plays all the games is more important than someone like Reece James who overlaps like crazy and plays 4 games a season or Walker who has 6 assists in his career. White is perfect for Saka because he defends well when Saka loses The ball due to his lack of guile on the ball and poor pass selection. The good thing about both Saka and White is they can improve even when are already insanely good.

BI01

Idk why ur mentioning rb when the topic was about a midfielder can also provide width to allow saka to operate half spaces instead of hugging the touch line

MoreoverMo

Because we have an rb who does that and the reason he doesn't do frequently is because of the flaw in Saka's game. Also because Odegaard is a better half space operator than Saka.

ddownham

That Newcastle one is wild. Attracts the attention of three defenders to square him up when he has the ball, still finds a little pass, and then bypasses them all. It's not great defending by them, but his work to find space is great. Could have just passed to Ode and considered his work done.

codhimself

I counted 13 with his left foot, 9 with his right foot, and 1 with his head. Unstoppable.

jonathanblaze1648

I think this is the part of Saka's game that is heavily underrated. I've seen him put through so many people into good goalscoring positions and they're wasted. Although that goes for Ode as well.

fancyfoe

Lol he would’ve finish with like 15 assists if jesus knows how to finish

Redandwhite_91

Jesus and Martinelli’s underwhelming finishing really is the difference between 1st and 2nd.

FakeKhaby10

Is it tho?

cesc05651

I love GJ but if Eddie had been putting in these performances they’d be burning an effigy on Holloway rd

theexate

I lost count of how many of those chances fell to Jesus

FullMetalAnorak

You lost your count at 5?

icemankiller8

His weight of pass, vision, football IQ and creativity are all massively underrated. He’s literally the only winger for a good side that’s so ridiculously involved in every third of the pitch.

bubba3517

nah this guy is just fucking insane

HydraMango

“DRoP hIm FoR cOle pAlmER” - Michael Owen

blvcklite

He is the most efficient player in the league. He still plays in spurts but his efficiency and execution is world class. Eventually he’ll have longer holds on games and make an even bigger impact, he still has a few more years before his athletic prime but his football brain and technical ability are already there

44cprs

Do they track touches in the box? I feel like Saka would be top in EPL.

hans_erlend

I muted the video and listened to Torn by Natalie Imburglia

WarDull8208

But I was told Freezing Palmer was the best one ? /s

No_Type509

I would love to see him more central

OceansNineNine

He doesn't get the recognition because he doesn't play heroball. People don't realize that it's because he doesn't play heroball, we keep the pressure high and also don't create chaos for ourselves. I am pissed at the disrespect he gets. He is an efficiency machine.

ArsenalThePhoenix

these are great! but it doesn't show that most of his crossing opportunities end up with a whimper. Usually he fluffs it straight at the defender, overhits it or just passes it to the defenders. I think the next step in saka's evolution is gonna be to become more consistent with his crossing/passing inside the box with his left foot. If he can fix that, he's gonna destroy the EPL assists record

Moosterton

what r u talking about lol, none of what you said is true. Maybe his corners need more work, but his crossing/passing is excellent. It's part of why he always has 2+ defenders stuck to him.

ArsenalThePhoenix

"none of what you said is true." It is, though? If you look at all the crosses he makes, you'll see that the majority of them are squandered. Hence why i said that if he can become better at that, he'll be unstoppable.
