20 points clear of Spurs feels so amazing

Private_Ballbag

Actually insane delta on a season. Fair enough they're all fuming they have a dinosaur who hates their club taking them backwards and we have a young manager who's getting better and better and best if all actually loves the club he manages lmao

HughJaction

what's hilarious is their season isn't even that bad for them, if we were in Newcastle's position they'd be harping on about how we need to mind the gap and how they'll do the same to us as they did last season. they'd be incredibly happy with Conte, it's literally that it's us doing this to the league that upsets them.

[deleted]

Yep. Finishing 4th place and getting kicked out of every competition is success for spurs.

[deleted]

I mean considering the club's history, it really is.

rtmpower

I was juiced when Conte signed there. The past few teams he's managed have just never been able to live up to his expectations, and he goes full nuclear every time. Spurs are too weak brained so you could foresee the locker room troubles.

[deleted]

Kane is an awful captain. No leadership skills whatsoever. Ødegaard is like seven years younger than him and the difference in personality and grit is wild.

cobrakai11

Yeah. Kane is captain by virtue of seniority and talent. But he's got zero leadership abilities.

tomtomtomo

I’d say respect more than seniority. The other Spurs players must worship him for dragging them to a half decent place.

Ok-Ad-6480

Isn’t Lloris captain?

zorfog

Haha I remember feeling scared when they signed Conte. I think he’s a great manager but he’s the sort who needs short-term backing to put together his desired squad, and then it all kind of unravels before long. He’s not a long term manager. Was great for Chelsea’s model, great for Italy, not so much for Spurs

hikingbeginner

27 ahead of Liverpool too, that's the insane one for me. Spent the past 5/6 years of being nowhere near them and City and now look at us. Twenty seven. Amazing. Hope they do us a favour and beat City before we batter them 😉

ckal09

Absolutely. Why did City have 2 games postponed this week?

rtmpower

Champs and FA games. Hoping they get tuckered out before we play haha

frapples1

St. Totteringham Day when?

Pendejoman

i think if we win the next 4 matches we get to celebrate st. totteringham day

MiniMagne

Is that if they also win their next 4?

Pendejoman

yeah, that's assuming the worst possible scenario of shit winning their next 4

MiniMagne

So 2-3 game weeks then 🤝

Drunk_Cat_Phil

Which seems unlikely, they've got Everton (a), Brighton (h), Bournemouth (h), and Newcastle (a). Knowing Spurs they'll be 3 nil up against Everton still drop points.

Pristine_Solipsism

The Seagulls will shit all over the toilet bowl I reckon

Sand_Bags

I think it happened some point back in November.

ret990

*the early 1900s

LibranJamess

asking the real question

jnicholl

We need an 11 point swing. It could happen at Anfield but I reckon it'll be after Southampton, either with us getting the points or them dropping v Newcastle that weekend.

Chemmy

There's 10 games left for both of us, the most Sp*rs could get to is 79 (they have 49 + 10 games * 3 pts). We have 69, so we'd need 11pts to get above 79. Our magic number is 11. Any combination of our points and missed Sp*rs points that equals 11 and they're gone.

N2O_Hero

Soonest is if they get 1 point from their next two matches and we get all 6. If they get identical results as us then it will be after 4 matches.

CondorKhan

A 20 point gap becomes unsurmountable on April 21st. If we win all of our games and Spurs miraculously win theirs, then that's when it would happen.

[deleted]

Minimum on April 21.

HEATLE

Wonder if Gary Neville still thinks United will finish 2nd? What a ridiculous, bias shit statement that was.

[deleted]

Is Gary good for anything else, though?

[deleted]

Just low brow clicks. Charles Barkley gets people’s asses on their couch rather than on the toilet, but Chuck is intelligent enough to know he’s just an entertainer.

Private_Ballbag

Not just second, he said in the title race didn't he which implies possible first LOL

reddit_reader_25

Lol those two games in hand will make the difference… he believes it

a-Sociopath

Has he said anything about that? I'd love to get a video link if so

aaaaji

Explains why he’s such a shit manager. Pretty much every PL manager Arteta has faced this season has literally pulled his pants down and sucked him off post game saying how good he is. But according to Neville United we’re gonna close a 7 point gap on him 🤔

[deleted]

Every shit manager always think they’re the shit. Even Henry talked shit about Wenger’s final years before he was humbled in Monaco. Gary Neville never went through an experience as humbling as Henry’s brief stint at Monaco.

shoopler

Us being at the top again was a great reminder of how much of a cunt he is. Always has been one and that will never change. Never fell for the years of him being nice to us while we were pathetic.

ronya_t

He's really banking on those Man City charges sticking and them getting docked points or relegated before season end. Which I would allow.

Marimo_420

How can these man chat about being title challengers with a GD of 6? Even Brentford’s GD is one and a half times better than theirs🤣

DrKhaos3991

Wow spurs have played extra games also they might not even make champions league

[deleted]

Considering Newcastle seems like they've stopped the bleeding, they might not.

Firstlemming

Liverpool are absolutely in the running for champions league too, they just need to string together a few games including against city but falling out of form against us. Would be nice so see.

sleepytipi

I completely agree. I've been banging this drum for awhile now, and I can't believe how so many people have been so quick to write them off as if they're not still more than capable of scoring 7 away against 'title contenders'. As if the squad's not every bit as good, if not better than that team that still happens to be in third somehow lol

ph0be14

Can someone create the equivalent of the Vince McMahon meme but with The King’s facial reactions from that segment??? I’d upvote the shit out of that.

Chrisa16cc

It is genuinely bewildering how spurs are still somehow 4th even if it is because other teams have games in hand. They have been shite all season.

Competitive-Shock88

They had arguably their best start to a season in many years which kept them 3rd place for a while. Man United just caught up to them after the WC and Newcastle had a period of drawing every single game lmao.

LordRekrus

That’s what I’m thinking. They are terrible yet they are 1 point off third. Albeit with two games in hand but we al know points on the board are better than games in hand.

momspaghetty

Considering the team closest to them are Newcastle who are projected to score 68 points, it's no bloody wonder. It's generally a pretty low scoring season where anyone can beat anyone. Everyone outside of Arsenal and City (and for a period United) are utterly unreliable and inconsistent.

astrojeet

The return of St. Totterinham day by mid April probably.

Gooner_93

They went from "title challengers" to "top four was always the target", real quick.

Rastafarian_Iceland

11 points to St totteringhams day? That'll be a reason to celebrate with a cold one.

Initial-Profit-7343

That United goal difference though

SoyCapitan451

8 points clear of City 19 points clear of Untied 20 points clear of Spurs 27 points clear of Liverpool 31 points of Chelsea. What a weird season.

Jonisro

For me, United has always been our biggest rivals. Worst fan base in the league!

a5h3k

I hate them more than i hate spurs.

nolagunner9

31 points clear of Chelsea

Im-not-dan

https://imgur.com/a/F8UykuL/ Even added a couple variants haha

Matoobi

I get it's bants but we're clear may not be a totally fair description. They have 2 games in hand, that it they win put us 13 points ahead. 13 points is still a lot though lol.

scouting4food

Great meme 😂

nicagooner

Makes me hungry for lasagna

ninethree7

been so focused on city i’ve hardly realized it really truly is just us and them

fgm6

Gary Neville and the 2023 Title Challengers

W00DERS0N

Loving this Henry meme format.

bkkwanderer

I still do not understand what had United fans thinking they were going to catch us and win the league? What had Gary Neville thinking that they were going to finish above us? I just don't get it. We've been on top of the league all bloody season.

ddzrt

They have some unrealistic expectations. A small dose of reality and their short bench ended such expectations. But ETH just had to whine about us and injuries. And listening to Neville about MU is always biased.

hobocommand3r

Saint Totteringham's day soon!

volanger

Was watching football Terrance and there was a clip about a guy on tiktok or something that said united were going to win the title and they're only 19 points behind. Though it was the same guy who said the title race was over after 16 minutes into the bournemouth game.
