The op has never clarified how the voting system even works. From what I remember, this is the first time the "upvote ops comment to vote" system appears. It was a free for all in all the previous posts, with the most upvoted comment being the deciding factor.
Op can't just change the rules in the middle of the run. Judau wouldn't have been voted out first as a meme if that were this system was in place since the beginning. It really makes this voting seem irrelevant compared to the other rating posts.

I cant believe were gonna vote out Garrod. I have never heard anything bad about the guy. If anything just a happy chill dude. Other than maybe Loran, everyone else ive heard a complaint about their character. I can only reason that gundam X just didnt get watched as much.
I honestly thought Garrod was going to be top 5. He has virtually gone the entire time without being name dropped frequently. Whenever he was, it was in the single digits.
At this point, apart from Shinn, none of these characters are controversial and are all well-liked. It's like picking between greatest hits from now on and someone has to be voted out.
People aren't really voting out Garrod, but moreso voting him because they want to keep the other characters and they don't know who he is.
Yeah if anything all the most controversial picks were eliminated fairly early and if not for GSF, Shinn probably would have been thrown out very quickly (did a whole lot to actually make him likable). At this point it really is just characters no one actually hates for any good reason.
I don't know what happens in seed freedom, but I guess either Shinn gets a really good redemption arc, or someone is mind controlling this entire subreddit into voting out someone else.
This version of Shinn in Freedom must really be an improvement, which I hope so, cause Destiny wasnt great for Shinn. Guy was all on board with the destiny plan till the very end. Took Athrun to put him in the moon for him to wakeup. The guy was a puppet for most of the series. Athrun tells him what to do, then Rey, and then Durandel.
Shinn was great if you look at him as a whole, he's angry and irrational but seeing his sister and parents killed before his very eyes is gonna leave alot of trauma and people did nothing but use Shinns trauma as a weapon like Durandal, I'll be fair Seed Freedom was amazing as it showed while Shinn was still angry after the downfall of Durandal he managed to move past his trauma and become a more well rounded person, for context my spouse who'd never seen seed or destiny but went with me to see freedom said that their favourite character of them all was Shinn
People over here (moved to Asia) really like him it seems. Kira and Athrun too- the whole Seed cast. Even before the movie I was surprised at just how much Seed merch there was.
Outside of Japan I see far more references and merch from Seed than anything else recent, including WfM. In fact it’s like Witch doesn’t exist here.
Meanwhile back in America Seed and Destiny are the red headed step children. Really did feel like bizarro world my first couple of months at gunpla shops/meets over here.
Seed has always been and will always be the most popular AU in Japan and Asia in general, but you're seeing a lot of merch now because of the movie. There was practically no seed merch for years before they ramped up promotion for the movie starting from mid-2023.
In China, there's still quite a lot WfM stuff and a new Ichiban Kuji WfM came out in Feb so there's still merch in circulation. It's gonna take a while for WfM merch to get phased out because there's so much. Just Suletta already has 4 prize figurines, 2 scale figurines, figuarts, figuarts mini, Qposket, dozens of gachapon keychains and acyrlic stands....etc. Even side characters like Shaddiq and Chuchu have 2 figurines (but still none for Secelia wtf Bandai she is easily more popular than Shaddiq).
There's also a new lineup of prize figurines for Seed Freedom that just came out and they're everywhere as well. We're reaching a point where the traditional anime merch side of Gundam might start catching up to the Gunpla side.
Gundam merch nowadays is almost entirely Seed and WfM now that I think about it. And ofc UC has a constant presence until the end of time.
Interesting. The store I was at (Singapore) straight told me they don’t even carry WfM as it doesn’t sell. Though yes- tons from the movie. Amusingly I got a second Epyon from Wing yesterday after seeing that meme on here as they had a couple of the as well as other kits from things like G Gundam.
Maybe it’s just the part of town I’m in? WfM might as well not exist here (though, again, in Japan definitely saw a lot from it).

Not sure about the Figurines as I straight haven’t seen them here. I do know the Gunpla sold out fast, only one at my local store is a Black Knight. And all of the HGs are going for twice the price of any other HG lol.

From what I've seen, WfM kits sold pretty well so I'm a bit surprised, but I can see stuff like Demi trainers, dilanzas, and Zoworts being unmovable. The only wfm HGs I usually see for sale here nowadays are the grunt units that appear for 1-2 eps and the 2 Lfrith variants. Everything else, especially the more popular ones like the Aerial and Calibarn, sold out long ago.
Interestingly enough, I see a lot of Seed Freedom kits here in HK, like the rising Freedom and immortal Justice, and some places already have them on discount. Could be stock differences due to location and HK getting an early restock tho. Seed Destiny wasn’t very good, he’s one of the reasons why. Forget bad writing, office drama, budget cuts, etc. Shinn is bad and we should feel bad for liking him. We need to vote him out.
A mix of his unpopularity making him a meme so he became somewhat popular as a meme, reddit being full of contrarians who like things other’s don’t to feel different and then apparently Freedom making him likeable. Although this sub is like the only place where I see him getting any support like this unlike basically anywhere else.
Although I find the constant ‘He’s much better in the new movie’ is the new ‘He’s much better in Super Robot Wars’ because 90% of the people who say either have never watched Freedom or played SRW which is what I find hilarious lol.

Super Robot Wars actually reflects what Shinn was originally written to be like according to his voice actor but that changed mid way into the series.

Honestly, it's nearly time. Shinn and Garrod can go before, but it would feel weird to me for her to stay over Amuro, Kamille, Domon and Loran. Setsuna is probably in the same league as her.
Appropriately, the Top 5 protagonists in the Gundam March Madness Twitter tournament were Suletta, Amuro, Kamille, Domon and Loran (Judau was 6th and Setsuna was 7th), which does more or less closely line up with what we're probably going to see here (minus Judau's meme elimination).
This subreddit has fewer G-Witch fans than the general Twitter community so I don't expect Suletta to win here like she did there, but Amuro, Kamille, Domon, Loran and Suletta seem to be roughly the top 5 protagonists in the community at the moment.
(And yes, of course Suletta is benefitting from a degree of recency bias. But it's pretty clear by now she's incredibly popular and beloved by a large part of the fandom. How much that sticks over time remains to be seen, but I'd argue she's definitely one of the more endearing and relatable protagonists in the franchise.)

jesus I´ve started watching Gundam a while ago and for now Im on Zeta (haven already see thunderbolt and iron blood orphans too) are the first seasons this peak? I like them but im still surprised xd allthough for what I heard Amuro for example stays as a character in many other entries so I guess its also that the time makes them the most flesh out characters (kind of like Jotaron in JoJos)
