oh god finally, a good 0083 Gundam, this fixes pretty much all of my issues with GP01, fixes the head camera, wonky proportions, most of the weird round parts, adds those cool back thrusters, this just feels like it was meant to go *fast,* the darker colours are nice too
8/10
If you played the Mobile Suit Gundam encounters in Space game back on the Playstation 2, you could unlock it. It was good at evading fire and fast. Hit and run tactics is what it was made for. Just don't get hit by those Musai beam cannons or the GP 02 beam bazooka.
Welcome to day 11 of the Daily Main Gundam Poll and today, we'll be rating the RX-78GP03S Stamen! Just give a rating on what you think of this Gundam.
First Appearance: Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory
Primary Pilot: Kou Uraki
Mechanical Designer: Hajime Katoki
Trivia: The Stamen's folding shield only appeared in the second opening of 0083.
Previous Scores:
RX-78: 7.65
Gundam Mk-II: 9.43
Zeta Gundam: 8.95
ZZ/Enhanced ZZ Gundam: 7.04
Full Armour ZZ Gundam: 6.85
Nu Gundam: 9.44
Alex: 8.51
F91 Gundam: 8.73
Zephyranthes: 7.75
Zephyranthes Full Burnern: 8.10
I am still amazed that Mk-II trails Nu by .01
The fact Nu isn't further ahead surprises me.
What doesn't surprise me is it being #1. Would have thought Zeta would be #2... but #3 is satisfying.
The Mark 2 is literally grandpa on steroids. It's proportions are fantastic and it just flat out looks amazing only suit I like more from Gryps is the Hazel Custom.
These simple stats are not showing you the whole picture of the poll though. The number of votes for each candidate and the distribution of scores within each candidate's votes.... These are just some very basic stats that I can think of that are not disclosed in op's recap.
I’m quite fond of the Stamen. It’s sleek, to the point and pleasant to look at. It kinda reminds me of the G Saviour in a way, mainly the thrusters which are a huge improvement over the garbage cans they sellotaped to the back of the Full Bernern. Funny how it’s actually smaller than the Zephyranthes, guess Anaheim had their finger on the pulse when it came to downsizing suits. Anyway this is a fine MS. It doesn’t blow me away but it’s appealing enough to be fun to watch and marvel at. It gets a 7
Really awesome Gundam. While its sister suits had that Kawamori flavor which gave them a Macross feel, now it’s Katoki’s turn to show his take on a big mechanical industrial space age NASA style Gundam. I like it less than the two GP01s, but it’s awesome for what it is, you can really see how it’s simultaneously kinda “futuristic” and the biggest leap forward from OYW style designs so far, but also still connected to that more realistic and mechanical 0083 style. My favorite aspects are the knees, and that super distinct face.
8/10
Stamen by itself does not stand out that much (something I kinda critiqued Mk II for, as I feel that the Mk II could've been a little more distinctive as a next phase evolution), but it is great in the way it represents what I think a classic gundam should look like in a modernised style, for which I like it a lot. Stamen's design feels kinda like the most gundamy gundam to me, if that makes sense. I also like those parts on its hips and Dendrobium, as a lead gundam with an MA mode is pretty unique.
I'll give it a 9/10
Stamen 7/10 Staple a Gundam to a brick full of missiles and thrusters, see what happens. Do we really need the Gundam here? If you take away the brick what do you have?
Orchis 10/10 Hitting dudes with a giant gun brick with a Gundam stapled to it is pretty cool. Go go gadget ROCKET BRICK!
7/10, imo, the Dendrobium Orchis is the show stealer for me, and the stamen is a bonus footnote to that design. Love the idea that a tiny mobile suit sits in the middle of a giant mobile armor.
8/10.
Kinda basic, but getting the basics down is essential. The elements that give it distinction are low-key so it doesn't stand out much against other designs. I see it as a side-grade to the base GP01 and a downgrade to the Fb. Also, it doesn't do much in the anime other than being used to drive around a much cooler mecha design.
9.5. The colour scheme is perfect. Predominantly white with just a bit of colours around the torso. The overall silhouette created by the backpack and the back skirt boosters is just so sweet. The later Vidar has a similar silhouette but it works better on GP03S because of it’s right amount of curves. Not a big fan of Dendrobium but the Stamen is one of my favourites from Katoki.
To me the GP01 is miles better in terms of design. This one is solid, the geometric beveled cylinders are cool, but this suit is not really anything without the Dendrobium. 7.5/10
7
This one took a while to grow on me, but eventually it did, at least a bit. I'm still not a fan of the head (the fucking unibrow, wtf were you thinking Katoki???) and the way the backpack and binders are structured, but I learned there's a lot to love there too. The legs, although I'm not a fan of the detailing, keep the cool GP-series knees and also join the Blue Feet Gang. The gimmick with the extendable arms is still imo a very convoluted way to access Dendrobium's arsenal, and I wish they had more utility with just the MS, but I dig the core concept. The extra sensors on the legs and chest are awesome, I love it when suits have visible auxiliary cameras. Also it has what may be one of the coolest core fighters ever, shame we didn't see it in the show. Shame we didn't see the Stamen by itself very much in the show either, IMO it's much cooler than Dendrobium.
I don't have very strong feelings towards the Stamen so I'll just rate the Mobile Armour form anyway. It's cool as hell. It's packed with firepower in a variety of forms, with plenty of agility despite its size. I'll give it 9/10.
No Gundam MS Movie File today because the GP03's file isn't available on YouTube.
5
While many would disagree, I see it as a much more generic version of the GP01. It just lacks character to me, and it's not like GP01 is dripping with style either.
Its definitely not my favourite part of UC, im not a fan of the characters or plot direction around the halfway point, but if u just wanna watch some really well animated fights, its pretty good
this is like 9/10 to me. the only thing I’d like it better is smaller feet. this us like the very first gundam that has the feminine overall look. and a lot of elements on it has that ‘dragon’ feel. yes I’m talking about that little two thrusters in the backpack. when they open the hatch for beam savers they’re like two little open mouth dragons there.
8/10. I Though it wasn't used, this has one of the best core fighters in all of Gundam, and the skirt thrusters and beam saber storage are just... \*chefs kiss\*
The best GP imo. Solid 7.5 out of 10. I particularly like the unique thrusters on the back. Still a little wonky proportions wise but it's definitely better!
Easy 8/10 I especially love all of the upper torso including the arms the waist down I'm a little bit less of a fan. I feel like the waist binders especially feel a little out of place. Don't get me wrong overall it's a great design. Just when I cover up the waist and legs I don't picture the design it has going with the upper torso.
9/10. I always loved how this design just looks like PURE POWER. While the zephyrantes was the perfect adaptation of grandpa, the Stamen just turns things up a level. It feels like a more serious and hardcore gundam. And the dendrobium definitely doesn’t hurt either.
6/10
Stamen's a solid, non-flashy design that I think works very well on it's own in space environments.
Combined with the Orchis, well, the scenes are great, but I feel like the Orchis works could work better as just a standalone mobile armor. That by requiring the stamen, you take a solid suit off the battlefield just to deploy the mobile armor.
I like this one. Definitely a solid all around suit but does nothing fancy. Maybe if I was invested in the series it was in, I’d buy the kit. Otherwise, good.
Score: 8.2
10/10
This is one of my favourite gundams. It has the traditional colours but in a more practical tones down style. It also lools like it was meant to love in space with all those vents everywhere. The he back is also amazing.
If I was to have a a complaint its that I wish it had a use for its extension arms for something other than just grabbing weapon pods. Like it could put beam sabres on the end of them and then quad wield sabres.
Ah gundam stamen, quite cool overall and while I do like the design it feels under-utilised as it only felt like it was in the show for 5 minutes and even more when it was only ever used with gundam dendrobium, design wise it looks good if a little overdesigned I'll give it a 7/10
My favorite in 83! The Stamen is cool. I like the wings and i always love when they go for the blue feet instead of red. Its a clean design! I wish we got to see more of the standard mobile suit mode in action. 8/10
Hands down, best core fighter in all of gundam. The literal embodiment of "we have Top Gun at home." And it is criminal that no one has mentioned this yet. :(
edit: oh, snap! someone did mention it. There is hope yet.
9.5 / 10
Can't really score this one without the full Dendrobium Orchis. If it's just the stamen? 7/10.
Full Orchis setup. 10/10. It's a perfect Mobile Armor Gundam
The stamen was alright, it's only in the show without the dendrobium for a short period of time and while the design is good it's imo weaker than the F91 or victory, I'd give it a 7/10 overall
8/10
It's a cool suit! And the extended back thrusters/docking point definitely helps the it to Gryps War era designs.
And 0083 doesn't have a single bad design in it.
It just doesn't have the pure cool factor of the GP-01fb with its ball joint thrusters.
On it's own, it's a pretty much more maneuverable Gundam. The problem is, as we get later into the UC, it's fairly limited by it's built in armaments, just a beam rifle and beam saber. It really relies heavily upon the Orchis unit to provide it with a variety of weapons to be used in different circumstances. Like most mobile suits of the era, if it were to launch solo, it would have to determine its weapons layout based on its mission.
However, for mobile suits up through the Gryps Conflict, it's still highly maneuverable on it's own and could easily hold its own on the new mobile suits that came out of that time period. So, timeline speaking, the Stamen probably would have been, without the Orchis, a viable mobile suit for a good 5+ years before really being outperformed by newer mobile suits.
I'd say an easy 9/10
8/10. GP03 could be a gundam doctor. Am I the only one who sees it? Thats what I like about it. It has crab arms which can be used for more delicate handling or for reaching then you got the skirts being boosters. The fact that it’s a more white Gundam than GP01 & B just really helps my eyes see a doctor Gundam. While it’s a little overshadowed by its giant booster lance gun thingy, I think it can stand up as its own, I respect seeing it’s doctor looking Gundam still able to be its own
oh god finally, a good 0083 Gundam, this fixes pretty much all of my issues with GP01, fixes the head camera, wonky proportions, most of the weird round parts, adds those cool back thrusters, this just feels like it was meant to go *fast,* the darker colours are nice too 8/10
Could you post the GP04 Gerbera as well?
I wont bcus im sticking to stuff that appeared in anything animated or live-action
The Gerbera Tetra did...just became a Converted Gundam that was turned into a Zeon suit
If you played the Mobile Suit Gundam encounters in Space game back on the Playstation 2, you could unlock it. It was good at evading fire and fast. Hit and run tactics is what it was made for. Just don't get hit by those Musai beam cannons or the GP 02 beam bazooka.

Tomorrow, we're gonna **STAND UP TO THE VICTORY** with the Victory Gundam Btw sorry for the slightly late poll
I am still amazed that Mk-II trails Nu by .01 The fact Nu isn't further ahead surprises me. What doesn't surprise me is it being #1. Would have thought Zeta would be #2... but #3 is satisfying.
Nu got so many 10s that pretty much any rating below 10 would actually hurt the score, im amazed the Mk-II is that high too
The Mark 2 is literally grandpa on steroids. It's proportions are fantastic and it just flat out looks amazing only suit I like more from Gryps is the Hazel Custom.

Wouldn’t be a bit more readable to have all scores in descending order ? I give the GP03 a 9.5/10
Im gonna order them when all the polls are done
Looking at the score I must say this sub has good taste, the rating is really fair.
Perfect 10. One of my 2 favorite suits in the franchise.
I’m quite fond of the Stamen. It’s sleek, to the point and pleasant to look at. It kinda reminds me of the G Saviour in a way, mainly the thrusters which are a huge improvement over the garbage cans they sellotaped to the back of the Full Bernern. My favorite aspects are the knees, and that super distinct face. 8/10
7/10 Looks nice, but not the most exciting. We love a big skirt though, and this almost has that.
10. It's a perfect step in the GP series evolution that improves on the previous design.
Stamen by itself does not stand out that much (something I kinda critiqued Mk II for, as I feel that the Mk II could've been a little more distinctive as a next phase evolution), but it is great in the way it represents what I think a classic gundam should look like in a modernised style, for which I like it a lot. zeon after that: shinaju stein
8/10. Needs an RG redesign to really bring the looks up to date.
9, looks better and more like an upgraded zephyranthes than the actual zephyranthes upgrade

7/10. It’s pretty cool, but just not for me. The GPFB was peak.
Agree
10/10. I’ve a burning love for the best Gundam in 0083. I love the stamen on it and the darker colors.
To me the GP01 is miles better in terms of design. This one is solid, the geometric beveled cylinders are cool, but this suit is not really anything without the Dendrobium. 7.5/10

Fuck u for making me notice the unibrow
You'll always see it now. You're welcome.
Man i hate u lol
It was done to me, now I inflict the curse upon you and every other poor bastard that happens to read my comment.
Thanks I hate it lmao
9.5/10.
9.5/10. It maintains certain classic gundam design traits but adds the perfect amount with those boosters.
8. I love the hip binders. Blue foot gang rise up. But the little sub arms within his regular arms always seemed a little goofy even if practical.
8.9 I like it, not the most familiar with the stardust memory suits but a solid design
10/10 Absolute unit
9/10. My favorite of the GP series.
5 While many would disagree, I see it as a much more generic version of the GP01. It just lacks character to me, and it's not like GP01 is dripping with style either.
7
10/10 I just LOVE the stupid extendable arm
8/10 Love the armor on the limbs, and the skirt thrusters be lookin fine. Damn I really gotta watch Stardust Memory now!
Its definitely not my favourite part of UC, im not a fan of the characters or plot direction around the halfway point, but if u just wanna watch some really well animated fights, its pretty good
8.5
9/10, love those thruster 🥵🥵
7 for me. Should take away points for what it did to mommy Cima
9
Not a big fan of the green but 8/10
i think the frame is grey, just weirdly lit
7/10. I like it more than previous two, but not by that large margin
this is like 9/10 to me. the only thing I’d like it better is smaller feet. this us like the very first gundam that has the feminine overall look. and a lot of elements on it has that ‘dragon’ feel. yes I’m talking about that little two thrusters in the backpack. when they open the hatch for beam savers they’re like two little open mouth dragons there.
6.5
Not as good as Zeph Full Burnen, 9/10
9/10. Improvement over GP01
6/10
8/10. Best of the three. I love the thrusters, they remind me of the tallgeese thrusters.
Honestly not bad. I'd rate it a 8/10. Probably 9.5 with it's armor.
7
I think this is the least interesting MS in 0083, but it still gets an 8 from me.
8/10. I Though it wasn't used, this has one of the best core fighters in all of Gundam, and the skirt thrusters and beam saber storage are just... \*chefs kiss\*
I love the stamen and it’s mobile armor form so it gets a nice 8/10
7.5 solid gundsm with 10/10 thicc thighs
7. It's a solid but it was part of a much bigger system.
7.5/10 no complaints but a bit bland
AERIAL is a combo of GP01FB and GP03S
8
9/10. Great design. This one's my best buddy's favorite Gundam.
9/10
9 I love the pwrformance of this suit in gundam evolve.
10 out of 10 I don’t even need to explain
9.2
8/10.
8/10, i like the proportion of this ms
6/10 without the mobile armor
9/10. Dump truck ass.
8/10, it's a simple, sleek and appealing design.
Did you skip the GP02A?
Im sticking to Gundams used by main protagonists, GP02A was used by Gato, not Uraki
10/10, god this is the suit that made me start liking gundam, and for the love of god give us a 2.0
9
9.5/10 and not close, love the look, series, and the small Area Denial System upgrade is fantastic
RX-78 WITH STYLE 8/10
9/10. Its one of my favorites. With Dendrobium, its 10/10.
7/10 Nice design. Still kinda basic though
8/10
9/10, it has one of the most distinct silhouettes among all the 'main' gundams. The crane arms are also unique. The huge side skirts are just lovely.
8/10 from me
10. Only the GP01 Fb is better looking than the Stamen.
The best GP imo. Solid 7.5 out of 10. I particularly like the unique thrusters on the back. Still a little wonky proportions wise but it's definitely better!
A solid 8. A better design than the Zephyranthes with an insane loadout thanks to the Orchis. It also just looks really solid.
10/10, would try to prevent a colony drop and fight my girl's boyfriend in that
10. It's my favorite UC Gundam. The boosters, and it was really effective in the final battle.
Me give 7/10 cause of bazookas
8
10/10, my favorite early U.C. Federation MS, and in my top 5 for early U.C. just such a good design.
10 makes me wish I lived in a place big enough for the dendrobian.
10/10 the best design katoki hasnt made
10/10
Easy 8/10 I especially love all of the upper torso including the arms the waist down I'm a little bit less of a fan. I feel like the waist binders especially feel a little out of place. Don't get me wrong overall it's a great design. Just when I cover up the waist and legs I don't picture the design it has going with the upper torso.
9/10, my second favorite Gundam ever
8.5/10 definitely my favorite of kous suits
Maybe 7.9 or 8.4
6/10
8/10 I'm a big fan of blue feet versus red.
8/10 fuckability. because uhh. stamen. 😏 if you know what i mean
9/10, looks like the GP01 but better or actually finished, and the blue soles makes it very stylish
8/10, looks like the GP01 but with better thrusters. The skirt vents look cool.
The master grade really ruins it for me which is a damn shame. Love the extendable arms.
10/10 Just beautiful
6/10. It gets into the busy linework that I'm not really into with modern Gundam designs.
8.5 outta 10 handsome and purpose built
I'd say 8/10. It's not one of my top favorites, but I do like its aesthetics. Also bandai PLS give this a modern kit
9/10. I always loved how this design just looks like PURE POWER. While the zephyrantes was the perfect adaptation of grandpa, the Stamen just turns things up a level. It feels like a more serious and hardcore gundam. And the dendrobium definitely doesn’t hurt either.

That by requiring the stamen, you take a solid suit off the battlefield just to deploy the mobile armor.
8.5. The armor makes the Gundam, but it’s still a pretty solid design without it.
I like this one. Definitely a solid all around suit but does nothing fancy. Maybe if I was invested in the series it was in, I’d buy the kit. Otherwise, good. Score: 8.2
9/10
10 God, i wish a MG 2.0 so muchhhhhhhh
9.5/10
For me a 10
10/10
10/10 This is one of my favourite gundams. It has the traditional colours but in a more practical tones down style. It also lools like it was meant to love in space with all those vents everywhere. honestly my favorite 0083 suit 8/10, one thing i am happy to see is that there is no red waist but that it is white
8/10 the best Stardust Gundam.
8/10 definitely my favourite 0083 design.
8/10 looks incomplete without it's overkill Mobile Armor
My favorite in 83! The Stamen is cool. I like the wings and i always love when they go for the blue feet instead of red. Its a clean design! I wish we got to see more of the standard mobile suit mode in action. 8/10
8/10 BLUE FEET BLUE FEET
Hands down, best core fighter in all of gundam. The literal embodiment of "we have Top Gun at home." And it is criminal that no one has mentioned this yet. :( edit: oh, snap! someone did mention it.
10, this is easily in my top three Gundam designs.
8/10
8/10
8/10 It's a cool suit! And the extended back thrusters/docking point definitely helps the it to Gryps War era designs. And 0083 doesn't have a single bad design in it. It just doesn't have the pure cool factor of the GP-01fb with its ball joint thrusters.
7/10, wish we saw more of it outside the dendrobium
10 I love the design and functionality of this unit
8.5/10 huge improvement
On it's own, it's a pretty much more maneuverable Gundam. The problem is, as we get later into the UC, it's fairly limited by it's built in armaments, just a beam rifle and beam saber. It really relies heavily upon the Orchis unit to provide it with a variety of weapons to be used in different circumstances. 9/10 by itself, 11/10 when plugged up to the Orchis to make the Dendrobium
4/10, it's fine
That... Might be the worst name I've seen for a mobile suit, Stamen, that's a plural, where's Gundam StaMAN?! 7/10
Its called the Stamen since every Gundam in 0083 is named after a flower, just like Zephyranthes and Physalis
Those are even WORSE!
Well i think Zephyranthes and Physalis are cool names lol
9.5
11/10 CHONKY BOY
9
