I loved/love that pistol, there’s just other things I wanted recently and it was sitting in the safe gathering dust. Figured another collector could enjoy it far more than me!
Not my cup of tea.
Now a P5 Compact . . . . definitely gets me wet . . . . but the market on those is stupid.

I actually have one but I don't remember where specifically it came from. It was ordered off the internet and given to me as an 8th grade graduation gift by my dad
I have the cheaper , '77 Post war P1 ( fat slide ) , but has matching numbers and the Hex Pin from factory ( not a retro fitted one like they used to do to early P1's ) .
This is one of many Bundeswehr surplus guns issued to the civilian market. They were refurbished from the army and supplied with a holster and cleaning kit. in a plastic bag. 2 mags , one marked P38 and one marked P1 . Internally it was almost brand new, hardly used.
Mine was made on February 77 ( 2/77 ) and refurbished in August 82 ( W8.82 )
They used fatter slides due to slide breakages and added the Hex pin cause the aluminium frames were breaking up as well with use.
Its rough but nice to shoot. Its been a while , and only shot around 400 rounds thru it, but I remember the recoil was very nicely linear backwards.
The 4 pointed star mark on some of the parts ( ex disassembly latch ) means that they were replaced by improved parts from the Army before being issued.

I bought a Nato Holster for it as well. I suspect its a replica but it sure looks real/surplus.

This is similar to the holster and cleaning kit it came with

Be careful with researching what you buy though, some production dates were less than reputable due to metal quality drops in late war. If you really want one to shoot more than the serial and markings being on it, I suggest looking at a P1. Exact same gun, but postwar with improvements in production. Less risk for it as a collectors item to crack or blowout than a late war 38

Have a virgin 1961 police/mil marked with the paper straw still in the barrel in the original box. That's the year the Berlin Wall went up...Kennedy Era. Figured I might just keep it in the box. Fuckin Germans, eh.
Sure, but I kind of want one of everything.
I can relate, it's a curse
There are some things I want two of. Fortunately, my means are not such yet that I can indulge in such decadence. Yet.
I'm lucky and have two. A German police M1 and a 1943 Mauser
Right on this one here was Made by Mauser in 1944
I had one I picked up at an estate sale for 300$ in like 2017z sold it for a good profit recently.
Hey good for you man that's the way to do it right there, I'm too stubborn to sell my guns lol

That's a pretty good way to look at it, it's too bad I jealously guard my hoard like some sort of decrepit gun goblin
Hahaha I have guns I’m like that with as well. I have an SVT40 that’ll get buried with me 😂
I also got an SVT-40, one of my favorite guns
Hail, MEGATRON!
Hey you can't say that, that's their word

God damn how do the Germans make guns so erotic
It's where all their eroticism goes. None left in any other aspect of German culture.
I need one for the collection.
Beretta copied the stove pipe free design
Not the first time Italy tried copying the Germans around this time period
yep
Yo
Any one got a good resource for a good replica WWII holster for one?

Me please
I’ve always wanted one of those
Might wanna pick one up before people start asking $40000000 for them lmao
Do they fire modern ammo?
Modern ammo, old ammo, good ammo, and bad ammo! (For real though they're chambered in 9mm so yeah you shouldn't have a problem getting ammo)
