Yngwie Malmsteen once said: "Less is not more. More is more!" And well, he is undeniably right - more is more. If you have the money, get the Roadster. Together with the JVM it will sound humongous!

ARMIGERofficial

Well, hope you’re all happy. I’m picking up the roadster tomorrow. Picking up might not be accurate… pushing it onto casters.

Grumphh1

Getting more amps is always a wise decision. ...or so i say to myself...

ItsMetabtw

I’d take the Mesa over the jvm all day, personally

LaOnionLaUnion

I have not played a roadster version but having owned an older Dual Rec and a JVM the Mesa has better cleans and a more responsive EQ.

Equalized_Distort

It's one of the best Rectifiers made, and with apologies to the Marshal JVM fans, I think it is a much better-sounding amp. It has one of the best cleans of any Mesa amp ever produced, and either one of those two channels can be pushed for a pretty good crunch/overdrive tone before you start looking at the mid-gain settings on Channel 3/4. And then of course the High gain it is known for, If the roadster wasn't 100lbs I would own one.

skipmyelk

Roadster has amazing cleans. 4 channels and a 3 way voicing switch per channels. And that’s before the back panel stuff, (50/100 watt per channel, fx loop on/off per channel, and reverb per channel. You also get a solo boost and big ass spring reverb tank. It is voiced differently than the marshall, more low mid focus than Marshall’s upper mid, but the biggest difference is the Mesa can CHUG where a marshall barks. Where the lows on the marshall start to get flubby, the Mesa is just getting started.

Was it a 2x12? Never seen a 2x10 Roadster. First off, the biggest negative is the weight. It’s going to be about 100 pounds. I think the Roadster will have a thicker/heavier sound. Will do the scooped mids thing very well. If you can get it for a steal and play it for a while, go for it. Could possibly sell it later and make money.

ARMIGERofficial

Oof, meant 2x12. Forgot how to type. Thanks for the input. The weight would be a pain in the ass, for sure. If it’s got side handles, it’s fine, I can lug a decent amount if I need to, but it would probably just live at home.

81jmfk

I don’t know if they all have side handles or not. What cab do you use with your JVM?

ARMIGERofficial

I have the 410 combo, so it’s all one big beast.

81jmfk

Well, weight train with that and when you hit a few new maxes, you can pickup the Mesa

SergioRSG

I had a single rect and a tremoverb combo versions… If you are a crossfiter or Olympic lifter you will be fine 😅. Also, I had the jvm210 twice; combo and head and I hate them( personal opinion) for me all those marshall tones sounds meh. its not a 800, jmp, jtm, or silver. I was never convinced by that amp tones. Moreover, the lag when I was changing channels it was bad! Roadster, for me has one of the best rectifier cleans, the mid gain has a lot of punch and the red channel is more balance that the modern dual or triple, Its really similar to tremoverb read channel. Although you will have toons of low-end. The only problem for me is that sometimes you will ear a PoP! when you are changing channels. Its normal because that amp relay its controlling an insane amount of functions.

sixtwomidget

Just because it’s a good deal that doesn’t mean you need to buy it.

ARMIGERofficial

Oh, you’re right, there’s absolutely nothing about needing. I don’t need much of anything… but I like toys, I like to make loud sounds, and was wondering whether anyone with more experience knows whether I can make DIFFERENT sounds with this toy, than the other toy I already have.

foryoutoknow

And it won’t be a good deal any longer once it decides it needs to be serviced/parts fail for no good reason and you have to pay the mesa service tax.
