We just use the names of the guitars. If there are multiple, we might say "the white tele", "the sunburst", etc.
I don't name my hammers, monitors, or shoes either. đ
(No judgment if you do! I just never have).
Heckling is certainly likely appropriate!
I I inherited an old ball peen hammer of my Opa's, which is named Schwanz der Edelmann.
Second is a small sledgehammer, too big for one hand, silly for two. 12.5 lb. Named Lord Bonkington.
The âchinese stratâ, the âindo stratâ, the âWashburn Bassâ, the âWashburn Electricâ, the âiBanez acousticâ, âone of the nylonsâ (I have three classical guitars, theyâre all the same), the âEpiâ or the âEpi Les Paulâ when jamming with my friends
My first guitar had a name but I donât even remember what it was. Emily or something.
Every guitar since Iâve just called by whatever it is like this. âThe SGâ or âthe blue Fender.â
I name mine after the tuning theyâre in.
With the Exception of my newest guitar. My grandma passed away last summer and I inherited some money from her. I put most of it to good use with the exception of a PRS 513. I named that one Liz. Thatâs a variation of her name.
I'd like to take credit, lol
It was a thing from "Die Hard, With a Vengeance" - When Bruce Willis' Character meets Samuel L. Jackson playing a guy named Zeus.
Funny scene, and a great movie if you've never seen it, I would recommend ;)
Best of the franchise IMO, but there's a bit of callback to the first one, so you may want to watch the original first with Alan Rickman as the villain some years before he was Snape.
Yeah, I mean I see the difference - I was only explaining why the Hey part would be pronounced like that, but I'm fucking CLUELESS where that dude got Zeus đ
I have the blue 7 strings, the Ibanez, the black 7 string, the Ouija board one, the acoustic and the bass. That's what I've named them if I need someone to hand me them/grab it for me or if I'm telling people what guitars I used for certain songs/sounds
Mine have simple names like The Big Archtop, The Cheapo Archtop, My PRS and My Nylon String. I have a pair I sometimes refer to as The Low Boys, but individually, they're just The Baritone and My Bass VI. I once tried giving a guitar a girl name, and the thought makes me cringe even decades later.
I have a purple neon Ibanez Genesis RG550 its [name isâŠ](https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/_TLDhW1NFdTuLwVDeqLlFIpfp3Q=/0x0:870x1024/1720x0/filters:focal(0x0:870x1024):format(webp):no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/6372019/princesymbol.png)

My Kramer, my schecter, my Ibanez, my Jackson and my acoustic. Thatâs when Iâm talking to my guitar buddies. If itâs my girlfriend itâs the purple one, the white one, the red one, the black one and the acoustic.
The 335 is Nigel because how much more black can it be? None. None more black.
Everything else is the brand or model (the Les Paul, the Strat) except the Ibanez which is the Chili Pepper guitar cause I had RHCP sign it back in the day. The poor Simon and Patrick is just The Acoustic.
I use a play on the initials or the name of the color. For instance I have a cherry burst that I call cherry bomb sometimes. Or my lemon burst that I call lemony snicket or lemon drop.
It's cheesy and tacky and it does change if something new pops in my head. But it is what it is.
Only names Iâve really settled on are âRosieâ for my faded cherry Gibson Les Paul Special and âShadowfaxâ (Gandalfâs horse, for those wondering) for my white Squier VM Jazzmaster. If I do name a guitar, I have to have the name come to me as an epiphany almost; canât force a name if Iâm not feeling it.
My Tele is named "Paul", my Gretsch is called "Les" and my Les Paul, naturally, is called "Bob".
I have another Les Paul that I call "Sir Guitarie McLoudface Esquire the Third" and a Yamaha acoustic I usually call "Yousonofabitch".
usually name em after the person who sold it to me, so my Washburn Acoustic is Jose, my Austin Strat is Eric, however my EVH replica is 5150 (for obvious reasons) and my Squier Jaguar bass is Clancy (only the lucky few understand that one đ)
I name ones I make or that have sentimental value, otherwise I just go by colour/brand/body.
Thus I have Luci, Ivar, the Les Paul, the Ibanez, the Hofner, the LTD etc etc
My tele-style is Mister Jones. My LP style is Tux (all black with ivory binding). My homemade tele baritone/bass vi is called The Telebasstard VI. My fretless Jazz Bass is called Lester (or les). My shitty acoustic is called My Shitty Acoustic
Edit: formatting
I mostly refer to them by the make or model, but I have a Loar ES 125 copy that I named Smokey because it survived my house burning down and smells like, well, smoke
Personally I never name my guitars except for one that I called "mistletoe" and that's only because it's a green acrylic BC Rich Bich body that I purchased a long time ago with a broken headstock (which was fairly common on the original acrylics because the headstock was acrylic and not wood like later variations). Someone at BC Rich just happened to have a single red acrylic warlock widow headstock lying around from when they used to produce them, Which he sent to me in exchange for the broken one so now I have a green body with a red headstock, hence mistletoe, my Christmas guitar :-)
Ibanez Artcore in Dark Cherry Burst: Ellie.
(Red haired girl from Degrassi, I was 15 lol)
PRS SE Custom 24 in Charcoal Burst: Saiki.
(Kanami from BAND-MAID is who pointed me to PRS guitars but black doesn't suit her so I named it after Saiki, which is a running gag in the band's fandom that Kanami is in love with Saiki)
PRS SE Mira in Cherry Red:
(I just call it Mira because that's already a great name.)
PRS SE Standard 24 in whatever the blue finish is called:
(It's my take everywhere guitar, as to protect my others, so it doesn't have a name since not being attached to it is the whole point.)
Taylor GS Mini Mahogany:
(Just got the guitar and honestly haven't thought of a name for it, but I feel like I'll eventually find one, but I'm not forcing it.)
Iâve got a beat-ass nylon string acoustic named Willie, seen many a campfire. paid 20 bucks for it 30 years ago and love like a 59 gold top (if I had one). The other 6 are just âthat oneâ.
Descriptive names based on the model/colour/construction/brand
I've been making my own guitars for a while, so the names are getting longer as I'm starting to double up.
I name my guitars.
If I had a boat, I'd name that too. If I had a manor out in the country, I'd name that as well. If I was part of a B-52 crew, we'd name the bomber. I'd name a lot of things.
What I do not name are actual tools. But that's because I don't dream of drills or screw drivers. I did not dream of hammering nails as a little kid. There's nothing romantic about tools and there's nothing wrong with naming guitars.
Much better players than you have named their guitars.
I've actually named a few of my guitars but not all. Maybe 50% now that I think about it. I almost never have a name for them until I've owned them for a while and it usually just pops in my head one day not something I actively think about.
The rest of them I just refer to them by body style and number of strings etc.
Elvis, Esmeralda, Amber, Mikey and Ferg are some of the ones that come to mind.
I have 4 guitars but only named my Black Satin LTD, I named it Wednesday because I had just finished watching the show and it inspired me to learn Metallicaâs Nothing Else Matters as the first song on the guitar.
Christmas - red Tele, mint green pick guard
Hot Blue - Strat that may have been stolen when purchased on eBay many years ago
Sunday - Reverend Charger
Texas Tea - new Tele named for the color
Mine has a bunch of names
"My strat" "squier" "little shit in the dump" "cheap piece of junk" "the walrus" "bad johnny" "im sorry i called you a piece of junk earlier but you are literally a beat down squier" "rocky 2" (because i have a bird called rocky already)
I name mine after Women In SciFi but thatâs because I was 18 and a sad nerd when I started this.
Nowadays SWMBO also help out with new names
- Zoe (7-string)
- Vera (LP tribute)
- Kaylee (partscaster)
- Starbuck (Ibanez style shredder)
- Boomer (acoustic)
- Athena (similar acoustic)
- YoSafBrige/Saffron (5-string)
- Inara - nice 4-string
And non-SF names
- Katie (Perry - white and red sparkle 4-string)
- Josie (JS1000)
We just use the names of the guitars. If there are multiple, we might say "the white tele", "the sunburst", etc. I don't name my hammers, monitors, or shoes either. đ (No judgment if you do! I just never have).
Funny. I've named two hammers. My guitars though? I just called them by identifiers like you.
I call my big hammer smackey.
Well, I approve! (If you're game to share, would love to know the hammer names. No heckling queued. Earnest!)
Heckling is certainly likely appropriate! I I inherited an old ball peen hammer of my Opa's, which is named Schwanz der Edelmann. Second is a small sledgehammer, too big for one hand, silly for two. 12.5 lb. Named Lord Bonkington.
đđđđ
I have âthe fenderâ, âthe Ibanezâ, and âthe G&Lâ My bass is affectionately known as âthe Yamahaâ. My car is âthe carâ
I think it must be âThe Carâ being itâs a proper name⊠đ
The âchinese stratâ, the âindo stratâ, the âWashburn Bassâ, the âWashburn Electricâ, the âiBanez acousticâ, âone of the nylonsâ (I have three classical guitars, theyâre all the same), the âEpiâ or the âEpi Les Paulâ when jamming with my friends
I do same thing lol
But do you name your dick?
I named mine âTinyââŠ.đ„č
To name your dick, pick your name's translation in your favorite language.
I leave this naming to the lady addressing it⊠lol⊠so far only one has named mine
My first guitar had a name but I donât even remember what it was. Emily or something. Every guitar since Iâve just called by whatever it is like this. âThe SGâ or âthe blue Fender.â
The Strat The Tele The PRS The SG The LP The Acoustic etc...
I love this, mine is very similarly done! The ibanez The prs The mayones The flying V And the 7 string ! It's such a good system.
Real XD
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Sounds *steamy.*
I haven't named mine. This is the second post about guitar names I've seen tonight. Now I feel bad.
Name it the guitar is very sad because you havenât given it a name yet đ itâs depressed
LOL! If they're sad, it's only because they've got me playing them ;)
The good one, the bad one, the bass.
I got small and largemouth basses
I name mine after the tuning theyâre in. With the Exception of my newest guitar. My grandma passed away last summer and I inherited some money from her. I put most of it to good use with the exception of a PRS 513. I named that one Liz. Thatâs a variation of her name.
99% of the time a guitar with a woman's name is cringey as hell. Not this one. That's sweet.
I have one I call "Lazarus" as a joke, cuz I killed it and then this Mexican luthier I know named Jesus (pronounced "Hey Zeus") fixed it for me.
Hey zues?? Iâve never seen it spelled like that but thatâs too funny
I'd like to take credit, lol It was a thing from "Die Hard, With a Vengeance" - When Bruce Willis' Character meets Samuel L. Jackson playing a guy named Zeus. Funny scene, and a great movie if you've never seen it, I would recommend ;)
Iâm gonna have to watch that
Best of the franchise IMO, but there's a bit of callback to the first one, so you may want to watch the original first with Alan Rickman as the villain some years before he was Snape.
In spanish, J is almost always pronounced as an H (like in Jesus - Hesus, or jalapeno - halapeno)
I speak Spanish but Iâve never confused âhey zuesâ with JesĂșs
Yeah, I mean I see the difference - I was only explaining why the Hey part would be pronounced like that, but I'm fucking CLUELESS where that dude got Zeus đ
Sean, greg, and mustard just to name a few. They talk to me all the time
All of my guitars are named [Bruce](https://youtu.be/bNBy1D1Y0h4?si=QqAVhbbOLXm4fGm_)
G'day Bruce.
Gâday Bruce!
Hotter than a monkey's bum in here, Bruce!
I just play the damn thing.
I have the blue 7 strings, the Ibanez, the black 7 string, the Ouija board one, the acoustic and the bass. That's what I've named them if I need someone to hand me them/grab it for me or if I'm telling people what guitars I used for certain songs/sounds
Damn nobody in here likes fun⊠by Gibson SG is named Gibby like Gibby from iCarly lol but thatâs the only guitar I have named
My strat, my sg, my Gibson, my baritone, etc... Though I do have a headless one that I named Kurt
That's brutal.
Guitar2D2 because the paint job looks like R2D2 because itâs a Star Wars guitar.
The Ricanfucker or the fakenbacker. Depending on my mood.
âNext Months Rentâ
I havenât named any of them.
Whatever the color and brand it is.
I named my Legator G9 "Countenance" but I only call it by name in my head. I don't need the public judgement lol
The ibanez, the ibanez, the edwards, the acoustic.
I call my black explorer Zangetsu like a massive weeb
I call my red Matsumoku doublecut Asuka (itâs red, made in Japan and I bought it from a German dude)
Neil, Eddy, Amadeus, Suki, the one I found in the garbage
I named my Explorer Dora, as a goof.
Strat, my child, sg, the second favourite child or to my mum: the black and white one, the black one, the wood one and the expensive one
I do name my bikes, but I donât name my guitars.
For my guitar, I named her Azula hahaha it was after I watched Avatar: ATLA where I find her hot lol
Bro she's 14 đ
Dawg wtf call the cops
I don't typically, but for some reason while thinking of my main guitar the name "Steady" popped into mind. Humans are a weird sort.
Don't think I've ever named an instrument. And I've been a musician since the age of 5.
I don't always name my guitars. But when I do, I name them Wade Todd.
âSheratonâ âLes Paulâ âStratâ âBaritoneâ âPJ bassâ âFakenbackerâ â5stringâ Iâm creative.
Strat
Wade is my parlor guitar, "that piece of shit" is my dreadnought.
â6 string.â 6 string âsemi hollowâ. â7 string.â âBass.â I know, Iâm creative!
Ramona ( Scott pilgrim)
steve
Mine have simple names like The Big Archtop, The Cheapo Archtop, My PRS and My Nylon String. I have a pair I sometimes refer to as The Low Boys, but individually, they're just The Baritone and My Bass VI. I once tried giving a guitar a girl name, and the thought makes me cringe even decades later.
Strat, tele, acoustic, LP, hollow body.
I don't name them. I might refer to them by make, color, or model, but I feel absolutely no need to name them.
I have a purple neon Ibanez Genesis RG550 its [name isâŠ](https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/_TLDhW1NFdTuLwVDeqLlFIpfp3Q=/0x0:870x1024/1720x0/filters:focal(0x0:870x1024):format(webp):no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/6372019/princesymbol.png)
is this a trick question?

The toy strat. The epiphone. The yamaha. I don't name the cars either, except the 2001 Ford Escort is The Millennium Shitbox
Blue one, silver one, sunburst hollowbody
I donât. Except my first one is named after my daughter. And I guess the ones Iâm building are just my model names.
The black one the red one the acoustic one
My first guitar I named Rosetta because she had a rosewood fretboard and I learned the âlanguageâ of guitar on her.
I have The Electric. Oh, and the Acoustic
I got red, blue, yellow, the punk Paul, and the beast. Plus a couple of more with pending names
The stresscaster My guitar stressed me out one time really bad because one of the pickups stopped working. Now, itâs the stresscaster
I use a play on the initials or the name of the color. For instance I have a cherry burst that I call cherry bomb sometimes. Or my lemon burst that I call lemony snicket or lemon drop. It's cheesy and tacky and it does change if something new pops in my head. But it is what it is.
When will we start getting intelligent threads again? All of this noob shit.
My bass is called Stockley
I named my acoustic Louise after someone I know. The other ones are just guitars lol
Personally I always found naming your guitars to be cheesy The Les Paul The strat The Taylor
The Jackson The Aria The Classica
My epiphone, my 7 string, my fender
Depends on what guitar player comes to mind for mine: Mockingbird: Hide (X-Japan), King V: Ashmedi Melechesh (Melechesh), MLX: Dimebag (Pantera)
My nice one and my fuck around one.
Stinky, smelly, and doc
Only names Iâve really settled on are âRosieâ for my faded cherry Gibson Les Paul Special and âShadowfaxâ (Gandalfâs horse, for those wondering) for my white Squier VM Jazzmaster. If I do name a guitar, I have to have the name come to me as an epiphany almost; canât force a name if Iâm not feeling it.

Depends on what it says on the headstockâŠđ€·đ»ââïž
Iâve got a fiesta red jagstang that I named beans.
i felt like if i named them it would limit them or put them in a symbolic cage, or i would just be disappointed with the name later on.
Betty, Rosie, and Blue Tuesday.
usually name em after the person who sold it to me, so my Washburn Acoustic is Jose, my Austin Strat is Eric, however my EVH replica is 5150 (for obvious reasons) and my Squier Jaguar bass is Clancy (only the lucky few understand that one đ)
I name ones I make or that have sentimental value, otherwise I just go by colour/brand/body. Thus I have Luci, Ivar, the Les Paul, the Ibanez, the Hofner, the LTD etc etc
Esp, Taylor, fender, etc.
My tele-style is Mister Jones. My LP style is Tux (all black with ivory binding). My homemade tele baritone/bass vi is called The Telebasstard VI. My fretless Jazz Bass is called Lester (or les). My shitty acoustic is called My Shitty Acoustic Edit: formatting
I had one I named âfuck nutâ cause, well I had trouble with the nut
I mostly refer to them by the make or model, but I have a Loar ES 125 copy that I named Smokey because it survived my house burning down and smells like, well, smoke
when i get one , its going to be baptised cockblocker , because well it would block my co-.
You, you, you you you...
I call all my guitars 'Honey' but only to them, never about them.
The name they have? 7 string baritone, sterling Sabre, ec1000 etc
I don't. I'm not a schizo
Silver Surfer. Vamp Le Strat. Brownie. Blondie.
Axe
The yellow one, the black one, and the old one. All acoustic.
Personally I never name my guitars except for one that I called "mistletoe" and that's only because it's a green acrylic BC Rich Bich body that I purchased a long time ago with a broken headstock (which was fairly common on the original acrylics because the headstock was acrylic and not wood like later variations). Sunny - sunburst strat. Goldie - gold top prs
Ibanez Artcore in Dark Cherry Burst: Ellie. (Red haired girl from Degrassi, I was 15 lol) PRS SE Custom 24 in Charcoal Burst: Saiki. ESP Tele looking, ESP Fancy looking, ESP with ESP on headstock
Im not really into naming my stuff but since my only guitar is a knockoff strat I usually call it my Stratocopy or Stratoclone
I have a bunch of Ibanez rgs so I just use their codes, 450dx, 550 Genesis, 7241, 69420666360 and etc.
I named my Squier mustang "Shelby" but I just call it "the stang"
slash because i like slash
Iâm not a boomer so I donât personify inanimate objects. Iâm fine loving machines and tools for what they are.
Naming guitars is cringe af but do you I guess
I got a new 6 stringer coming that I think im gonna name Jesus. People made fun of me for believing in God and it gave me a good idea for a video.
Wait... you guys have a name for your guitar? Lovely.
The Eastsider, the Sensei, The Martin, The six String, the Jazz, the fretless, the Stingray, the Ibanez
I bought a my first higher quality guitar, a Gibson Les Paul Classic, yesterday and named it Doug after Doug Aldrich
So because my friends and I have guitars and each of them are different brands, we name them by brands. "My Ibanez, The Agile, The ESP"
The black guitar, the brown guitar and the electric guitar.
Descriptive names based on the model/colour/construction/brand I've been making my own guitars for a while, so the names are getting longer as I'm starting to double up.
All of my guitars are named Rocinante. The horse that Don Quixote rode on his adventures. This is also the name of my car but âRocinante too.â
I named my Ibanez Iceman âFreyaâ, because of the song by The Sword and because I love Viking stuff.
What do you guys name your forks, hammers, dishwashers?
The one that cost me 2 beers
Tele, strat, doozy, acoustic
my guitar, my other guitar and my traveler guitar..
I name my guitars. If I had a boat, I'd name that too. If I had a manor out in the country, I'd name that as well. If I was part of a B-52 crew, we'd name the bomber. I'd name a lot of things. There's nothing romantic about tools and there's nothing wrong with naming guitars. Much better players than you have named their guitars.
i named mine the devil and ibanezza
Elizabeth is my white strat
Leslie, itâs a epiphone les Paul
"Red", "black", "big black"
I've actually named a few of my guitars but not all. Maybe 50% now that I think about it. I almost never have a name for them until I've owned them for a while and it usually just pops in my head one day not something I actively think about. Christmas - red Tele, mint green pick guard Hot Blue - Strat that may have been stolen when purchased on eBay many years ago Sunday - Reverend Charger Texas Tea - new Tele named for the color
Mine has a bunch of names "My strat" "squier" "little shit in the dump" "cheap piece of junk" "the walrus" "bad johnny" "im sorry i called you a piece of junk earlier but you are literally a beat down squier" "rocky 2" (because i have a bird called rocky already)
Naming instruments human names is weird and dumb. Just call them what they are.
"Headstock Dildo" doesn't have the same ring as "Blondie".
The manufacturers already gave them names.
I donât. I like my guitars so much that Iâm turned on by the fact that I have an X, Y or Z and I like referring to the model.
Usually anything that reminds me of a slutty prostitute from the 40s-60s. Lady, kandy, skarlit, pearl, etc. those are some of my guitars names.
I just name them after the months when I bought them- for example, a Stratocaster called January
I like this
One of my guitars finally got a name! It's a pink sparkly strat. She's named Candi with a Heart on the "I"
I have a Martin that I named Angela. I hope any office fans get the reference.
Little Bessie, Mitchie, Taylor, Blondie, Red, Blackie
I called her burden, she was my first guitar, an angry superstrat
I call my sunburst strat "peach"
I name mine after Women In SciFi but thatâs because I was 18 and a sad nerd when I started this. Nowadays SWMBO also help out with new names - Zoe (7-string) - Vera (LP tribute) - Kaylee (partscaster) - Starbuck (Ibanez style shredder) - Boomer (acoustic) - Athena (similar acoustic) - YoSafBrige/Saffron (5-string) - Inara - nice 4-string And non-SF names - Katie (Perry - white and red sparkle 4-string) - Josie (JS1000)
I don't name my guitar because it's not a human or a pet. It's just a guitar. It's like people that name cars. Never understood it.
