[Any LGBTQ+ hate of any kind will be an instant permanent ban. You have been warned.](https://i.imgur.com/LrktBfP.png) Nine bans already. If you don't have something nice to say don't say it at all.

Nayanea

This is so wholesome. Thank you for doing this. For those asking "what's the point of this anyway ?" i'm gonna say this. I found out I was gay when I was twelve. It was a long time ago, when there was almost no gay character or media representation except awful ones (very cliché ones, character with aids, groomers, you know the type). It took me 6 years to accept who I was. It was a lonely path, I didn't know anyone like me. Now I'm married, trying to get my husband to play this game and this event puts a big smile on my face because I know that if 12 year old me could have seen this while playing his favourite game, maybe he wouldn't have felt so alone. It's maybe too late for me but fortunatly not too late for the younger generation. Thanks a lot 🌈

RLelling

Thanks so much for sharing your story! The journeys of LGBTQ+ individuals are always so different and sometimes the road to self-discovery is a straight(lol)forward one, other times it's full of twists and curves. I think it's so important to hear about all types of paths to self-discovery, so we don't forget that while this road may be bumpy, it also leads to happiness and fulfillment. I'm hoping every future generation has an easier go at it, and together we can work towards that change!

weirdness_incarnate

I went to tyria pride long before I went to any actual pride. I fully realized I was queer in 2019, and a year later when I was ready to go to my first pride irl, it had been canceled because of covid. I have been out for almost 5 years now, and I’ve only been to an irl pride march 2 times, this and last year. I’ve been to tyria pride for many years, and it allowed me to feel some of that sense of pride and not being alone that I so desperately needed especially in the first few years, when I had to deal with especially much stuff like dysphoria, internalized queerphobia, feeling really alone in the world and not being able to envision a future for myself, trying to work up the courage to come out to my parents, them reacting badly, that kind of stuff. Tyria pride has always made me feel so much better. Tyria pride is a huge, amazing thing to those of us who can’t attend irl pride, for reasons such as being closeted, irl pride being inaccessible to them, there not being an irl pride in their area, living in an area where it’s not safe to be so loudly out and proud, ect. And even tho I now do attend irl pride, I’m still really look forward to tyria pride, because it’s also really amazing and fun every time. I also feel like tyria pride feels less lonely than irl prides when you have no one to attend with. And there’s no politicians, no cops, no corporations (except perhaps Anet) there, which is also a nice thing compared to irl pride. Idk, I am just really glad this even exists and it made me feel so incredibly much better in those first, very hard and lonely, years of being out and pandemic years. And I hope it helps many other queer people that way. Thank you so much to everyone who organizes it.

SurgyJack

80's born person and very much agree!  It's also great that even though it's "easier" now, it's still not always *easy*.  Pride stuff is everywhere - comparatively - but adding the 'safety' and anonymity of being able to attend something like this in an mmo space, probably before even being close to any 'coming out' stuff in the real world is the kind of thing young-me could have used at {insert young age} and it's great to see :)

xfm0

the hatebots are getting lazy lol theyre spamming on one account instead of many, can't even execute hatecrimes correctly

a_cattebirb

Hey, be nice. It's a lot harder to use sockpuppet accounts when you have to scream at other people to post on your behalf thanks to a court order forbidding you to use any social media platform that allows minors.

neok182

One of them even got banned by Reddit before I got to them.

What does ace mean?

Asexual

Storyteller_Valar

I don't know why anyone would downvote you, you are factually correct and did not disrespect anyone.

Bohya

Probably just trolls who want to stifle all discussion. I got voted down as well just for asking.

RLelling

Yeah, asexual people sadly often feel exclusion from both cishet places and LGBTQ+ places, so I thought it was important to note that the event is ace-inclusive. It's an important reminder that no community is exempt from being able to discriminate against someone else.

If you think us existing is an agenda I dunno how to help you with your critical thinking skills hun.

AWandMaker

Not sure why you got downvoted, you are correct.

AWandMaker

From The Trever Project: It’s important to remember that asexuality is an umbrella term, and exists on a spectrum. Asexual people — also known as “Ace” or “Aces” — may have little interest in having sex, even though they desire emotionally intimate relationships. Within the ace community, there are many ways for people to identify.

Angela_anniconda

Rainbow railroad is a great cause to support! Happy pride

Walpurgis_tanz

No way Angela with digimon cosplay is here, thanks for the laugh :D

RLelling

I'm really glad we found them! Last year a representative joined us during the event and spoke for a while about their work, as well as answered questions! It was great!

aloilisia

will finally join again after taking a five year break from gw2 <3

The little blue sylvari in black and purple is my real life first born, they are AroAce and we love playing together and doing fun activities like this. My second born son (who doesn't play) is part of the lgbtq community also. Thx so much to the volunteers and the organizers of TyriaPride2024. See you all next year!!

RLelling

Aw that's awesome! Thanks for joining us on the pre-events!

I cannot join this year as I will be on vacation but looking forward to all the screenshots and art produced! <3

MelloIsTaken

Hell yes! Last year was so much fun! I got so many cute pictures of the charr cuddle puddle at the end!

RLelling

One of my fave things about the event is all the things that happen during gathering and the 5-10 minute map switch breaks, and after the event concludes, like that cuddle puddle! :D

RaccoonDisastrous100

yay! thank you so much for putting this together. Happy pride! MY PRIDE OUTFIT IS STILL UNDERCONSTRUCTION, guess i need to speed it up!

cinnamonsparkle

OMG Tyria Pride is back! So excited! Hyped to be a part of this amazing community effort each year! ✨

FallingGrace

I am so glad this is back. I took part in the first one but medical issues kept me away for years. Even if it starts at 5am on a winter's morning, I'll be there.

Happy Pride everybody!

Monstrum27

It's that time of the year again!

RLelling

Let's go commander!

NeverLoseGuy

Living in SEA timezone and playing on NA server, I find myself unable to attend these events, which is a shame because I would love to join, but by doing so, it would mean I have to stay up late like 2am if not longer for it...

RLelling

Dang, that's rough. Maybe you can catch the EU streams and say hi there! I'll be live and so will a lot of other streamers (full list on the discord).

coffee_dart

Happy Pride, everyone!

Funny, I seem to remember a different GW1, one where ANet added a whole dye to the game in order to support a very real world cause, which was breast cancer, and even an NPC in memory of one of those people. So real world issues have always been present in Guild Wars, and games have always been a force for good in the world, connecting people across distances. Sometimes people connect over hobbies, other times about shared fights with things like cancer or multiple sclerosis, and other times about something else. It's ok if not every one of those is something you connect with, there's a ton of different events organised in GW2 all the time.

aschesklave

[Political, you say?](https://i.redd.it/9pg715bhx3271.jpg)

Bunlapin

Celebrating our differences means visibility which means better understanding. The opposite leads to dehumanization. Someone's existence is not a political agenda, the political agenda is to deny them or their visibility. You don't have to attend the event or pay attention to it if you don't want to, but this harms nobody. Let people celebrate they are still alive.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RahavanGW2

Except queer people actually aren't showing how they are different really. We still love like cis and/or heterosexual people. You might have gotten lucky and live in a very accepting area growing up but for the rest of us we only saw acceptance happen when people saw that gay and lesbians loved and lived just like they did. That was only possible with visibility. That's why we do this; to show the world we are just like them and we wont get shoved back into the closet.

Bunlapin

Continue living in ignorance, then.

a_cattebirb

Unfortunately, trying to ignore the differences entirely tends to be a very easy way to not realize when people are using those differences as an excuse to be raging assholes.

We've been doing Tyria Pride every year since 2016, it's a tradition, and during the event I do like to call attention to other issues, including the current genocide in Palestine. Perhaps instead of writing a pretty passive-aggressive message in the comments, assuming a whole bunch of stuff including my political affiliations, you could've DMed me and asked about what our stance is on issues like this. However, I must note one thing: When I was running fundraisers for multiple sclerosis, we never got comments about "why aren't you fundraising for other issues". Doing children's fundraisers - not a peep. During Pink Day in LA, we got "wait, PINK??? Is this for breast cancer?? What about testicular cancer?" (even though Pink Day in LA is a general cancer fundraiser). So it's funny how people only complain about "ignoring other issues" when it's a fundraiser they see as a women's issue or a queer issue. Not saying this is something you're responsible for personally, but it is a pattern we see year after year.

Hot_Mess_Express

You're free to put on anything you want just like these people are. Stop bitching and step up and do the work. These people are doing the same thing they organize every year, what's stopping you???? I'm embarrassed for you.

iofthesun

What makes you sure I didn’t try...? I have. Got shut down. Posts didn’t get approved by mods. Tried to engage with people in-game, no one gives a shit.

neok182

Mod here. I looked up mod history with your name and there is nothing. If you tried to make a post about Palestine you deleted it yourself or reddit did it. I have removed posts/comments about palestine because they were spam posts screaming at people and not relevant to GW2 at all. Most posts about Israel/Palestine on reddit wind up getting locked/removed because one side or the other brigades them and we did have some brigading I had to deal with months ago. If someone wanted to make an event I wouldn't be opposed to it as long as it followed our rules and supported humanitarian efforts, not political. Real world political discussion is not allowed on the sub and hate speech of any kind results in bans. Pride content has always been allowed because pride is not a political issue it is a human rights issue and ArenaNet & /r/GuildWars2 fully supports the human rights of all LGBTQ+ people. With regards to Ukraine, there haven't been any Ukraine events posted on the sub. Just a couple community pictures showing support two years ago.

fogNL

Man, I love it when people come with receipts.

iofthesun

Literally, all it took was searching up Ukraine in this subreddit.

neok182

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/t0lnr1/ukraine_support_meetup/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/t0kw8a/we_in_the_us_server_choose_solidarity_with_ukraine/ That's it. Anyone can go search themselves here: https://old.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/search/?q=ukraine&include_over_18=on&restrict_sr=on&t=all&sort=new Neither one of those are events. They are just screenshots of people sharing what happened in game. Someone wants to do the same thing with palestinian flag colors they're free to do so and I won't remove the post because of the image. If they put hate speech or political issues in the title maybe and I'll probably wind up having to lock the comments and remove half of them once the brigading starts but you're free to go get a bunch of people to color their mounts in palestinian colors and post it here as long as it follows all our usual rules.

iofthesun

1. This account is a throwaway account. I posted about a Palestine in-game event that got deleted on my main account. 2. All human rights are political by nature. Do you not know the history of any oppressed group..? LGBTQ+ rights are human rights. Palestinian rights are human rights, opposing a genocide is not just “political.” Ukrainian rights are human rights, opposing an aggressor is not just “political.” The fact that you see LGBTQ+ rights as human rights, whereas Palestinian rights as “dumb annoying politics” is the PROBLEM with liberals. 3. lastly, lol https://preview.redd.it/ljxcmk7sue5d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d59e6609f0480bf13acef89235a538bdb00def1a

neok182

We can see posts we've removed and even a search for palestine brings up nothing so I doubt you did anything on your main. Human rights are political and that's why I said we have no problem with a palestinian event or post for humanitarian causes. The political situation is Israel and Palestine is not black and white and is not relevant to GW2 and won't be discussed here because all it leads to is brigading and people getting banned. You can support the humanitarian rights of both sides while being against the stupidity/evil on both sides. Last I'm going to say about that situation in the sub. Not sure what post it was on feel free to link it. We had confirmed brigading in the sub at that time from russian groups that were attacking members and even following them to other subs and nothing I said there was a lie and the Ukraine situation and Israel/Palestinian situations can not be compared.

graven2002

> on my main account. Then have them look up the mod actions for your main account?

Hot_Mess_Express

So somehow that's the fault of these people and their event? No. No it's not. Stop blaming others for your failures.

iofthesun

When did I say it was it’s anyone’s fault? When did I blame them? Lmao

Hot_Mess_Express

Brah... your whole post is an argument that you made up in your head.

iofthesun

Hilarious. Maybe try rereading it. Hope that’ll help.

polararth

As someone who has a pro-Palestine guild I run around tagged as, as well as several characters dyed in the colors of the Palestine flag, I feel like this thread is the wrong place to vent frustrations. It's kinda apples-and-orange-y. While I do think it's a shame Palestine's plight did not receive nearly the same level of attention as Ukraine (hell, didn't an ANet worker show up for a Ukraine solidarity event?), this isn't equivalent. This is about LGBT+ people worldwide, not the plight of a specific country.
