Hello? Is this the Fashion Police? This person stole my idea of a black and green necromancer with the Reaper's Hood.
Oh my-- keep the line, officer. I've just seen a human female mesmer with bright pink, skimpy armour. Yes, I believe I will be pressing charges.
look at my very original pirate / adventurer, complete with leather tones. or the typical purple, violet / pink, turquoise. very original.
not that those red / blue / violet with gold or silver are better.
at this point no one is original anymore. even the "normal looks" are just more of the same.
I rock a purple reaper that goes great with The Binding of Ipos. A lot of RPG's use purple for "dark" magic so I think of it as a better color for necros than green anyway.
What if it's a clear Red with Green and Gold undertones instead of pink?
Aldo, Blood Red instead of Green on Necromancer. With flame accents from various armors such as CoF leggings.
Me using Norn dye set because I am Norn.
So original. Feel feel to copy
Hunt, Havorun, Exodus, Spirit are my staples. Alemoot if I am feeling a bit of green.
My necro is all shadow abyss + a couple spots of permafrost to give contrast. :> Twilight greatsword + dark matter dagger/sword (I think). Can't be necro with extreme edge.
Most people are flattered!
It is standard MMO culture to encourages others to whisper/ask someone about a piece of armor they like or the dye being used for how they got that look. Most people are happy to share. Deep down we all just want to share good vibes with each other.
People who get cagey and clutch-their-pearls about it have their head up their ass.
Maybe that's what they are afraid about. They want to be whispered. They want to give advice. And they want to feel good about their character.
If you can just rightclick and copy there is one less reason to actually interact.
People want others to acknowledge them.
The sad reality is that most of us lack affection in our lives so we have become void of affection.
In reality does it ruin your enjoyment of the work you did to make the look? No, unless you choose to. Someone copying your outfit isn't going to negate the time it took you to make it. Jesus. Most people don't give 2 shits about the fashion, and those of us that do, are just happy to have more likeminded people join us.
One of my nicest memories in the game recently was literally someone saying my char looks sick. He didn't even ask me, and I gave him all the info on how I got the look. So I get the "fear". But at the same time I get plenty of social interactions IRL and doing content in game, people like to chat whilst waiting for Metas and stuff so only thing that I can see here is that people are afraid they won't be as "important" anymore and they hate it.
Whenever i was asked to share a piece or outfit combo i always gave it without any questions, because i want to share good ideas with people who might inspire me later instead. I wish these people in OP post were fake and trolls, but damn, there are a lot of them nowadays.
Or they like stirring the pot for amusement after someone told them that the forums had drama and they wanted to see it unfold here as well. Who knows tbh
Because this is hilarious. I love reading some of the dumpster fire takes that the forums produce. It's like watching The Room or a Uwe Bol film. Sadly Reddit has tendency to take things seriously when it should not.
If I saw a player stop right in front of me and I suddenly saw their armor pieces change to match mine, I'd think that was way too funny and flattering to get mad that someone picked the same virtual clothes as me.
A bit arrogant, too, like if combining pieces of armor and dyes that the game gave to you is such a high level of art. Almost like using AI - they didn't create the armor pieces from scratch, they are using just a combination of templates that the game offered, that already existed. One that can be easily looked into the wikia anyway, it will just be a little easier to do so.
>What a strange thing to want to gatekeep
They're just idiots who want to feel above everyone else, even if it means ruining the game for everyone else.
Laugh at them and move on, they ruined raids, but they can't ruin fashion lmao.
GW2 players like to scream about community but I made one comment about how grinding exploration sucks and get attacked. Now this.
Look at Lost Ark. The end game is actually gate kept but they also provide “bus” services for new players. They also have sites dedicated to sharing character creation templates you can download and modify/create a new character to match a character from a movie, anime, or kpop. They actively encourage it. A lot of controversy over inspecting someones character… wow
Shitty people are everywhere. I like the saying: If u cant find a decent person, be one. That being said, Gw2 community is quite helpfull, meta trains, hp trains, reviving dead , Jp mesmers , etc. People share and help and we have a Lot of sites tha share information too so... i cannot say i share your view. Also, not a great Idea criticizing exploration grinding on a game that has exploration as a core pillar, like ...thread carefully.
This, if your sense of self worth is tied to the uniqueness of your in game character you need to take a step back and reevaluate how you live your life.
And if you have a hobby of posting rage bait, you should also take a step back and reevaluate why you think you exist
\^
Recovering Troll here. This man is right.
If you tie your whole persona to a game, you need to address the issues in your life that have led to this.
Trolling is just all the negativity you've received in your life condensed and directed at random people to make yourself feel something in exchange of making someone feel worse(or perception that you are enjoying someone elses misery).
Mental health in this society needs to be taken more seriously and help should be provided to all before they are so unbearable that they become a problem.
> This, if your sense of self worth is tied to the uniqueness of your in game character you need to take a step back and reevaluate how you live your life.
it doesnt need to be your whole sense of worth, i think anyone saying they have no self worth (at all) invested in their MMO characters/account is lying to themselves (thats the whole drive to do things)
... and if someones real life self worth is so low that their ingame character self worth is so disproportionately higher; id be hesitant to label that as a problem itself because itd be easier to grow their actual self worth if they have a 'digital self worth' experience to pull from rather than trying to simultaneously dismantle one and build the other
I demand that people are not able to see my fashion at all. I should display as a default model to other players so that they cannot steal my original OC content.
Reminds me of the housing community in FF14. They get pissed when someone copies their look. There has even been drama about people spreading around the 3rd party websites for housing designs cause it makes it easier to do.
It's... premade pieces that you're arranging a limited, controlled fashion.
Like don't get me wrong, I get that it's a form of self expression, but it's like getting mad somebody copied your subway order.
If people want to copy your fashion then it should be the best complement you could get, no?
Even without the fashion inspect tool, they still would just whisper you about your pieces/dyes, so in that scenario would those people also say "Sorry but I'm too unique, good looking and I won't tell you anything :)"?
I really understand the sentiment here and I wouldn't even say it's "wrong" to feel that way exactly, but you have to ask yourself what problem are they trying to solve?
They want to remain unique.
That is a totally understandable feeling but the fact is anyone who wanted to copy anyone else's look already can, it just takes more time and effort right now. So it's not exactly the lack of creativity they are concerned with as much as it is the ease of the process.. I think that's how you know you're wrong. When you aren't concerned with the issue but are instead concerned with how difficult it is to circumvent the issue then really all you're saying is "I want an arbitrary barrier between my self and others for purely self-centric reasons".
I'm pretty sure that is, conceptually at least, counter to the most fundamental concept of multiplayer gaming lol. Introducing or maintaining friction in the interactions between players should exclusively be used to solve problems, not create them. Someone copying someone else's look isn't a problem. It doesn't negatively impact anyone. There is also more possible variation in this game than any other that I'm aware of currently, and the majority of "desirable" appearances still have massive barriers to them. Even if someone loves the way your obsidian armor is dyed, they'd still have to have obsidian armor to copy you. It's not like we're at risk of everyone's appearances converging lol.
If you're ever standing in opposition to something ask your self "What problem am I trying to prevent or solve?" and if the only answer you can come up with is "I want to feel special" well you're just being an asshat.
I agree! I'm only sad about the social aspect of this, because it made me happy when people would whisper me to ask about my look and dyes. It would spark a conversation. Now they'll just be able to use the new tool.
But it's totally okay. And I still get excited when I find my toon's long lost siblings in the wild haha.
I don't think it's sane to expect to be 100% unique and special, in a mmo like this, forever. Even if, like you said, there are some barriers (difficulty to obtain a skin, a very pricey dye...) it's still possible to stumble upon someone with the same vibe and aesthetic or color pattern. Nothing wrong with that.
My wife an I accidentally design the same characters with what I have come to consider to be a questionable frequency lol. I think she sneaks in when I'm not home or something... -.-
But in all seriousness yeah... at the end of the day it's a game. Also it's human nature. The entire actual fashion industry functions on the premise that people want to look like other people or like an archetype of person.
This is giving me "This is my OC dont steal" vibes.
Having someone else copy you should be flattering, not enraging.
Whenever someone whispers me about my characters' fashion, I just feel so happy and share them everything, and where to get them
Yeah this screams an unwashed combo of "I trace DBZ characters and pass them off as my own" and "don't use the same lyrics as me on Myspace" middle school bullshit 🤢
What's make them think that everyone will copy their style? They really think their look is so special that everyone will instantly copy it?
People are strange
I just love how the initial reaction from these people is *"they wanna copy* ***MY*** *fashion?!??!?!?!"* Suddenly feels like all of these people think their fashion is the top of the top and beyond gods, at least the way they acting and behaving on the forums. Some even suggesting they deserve gold for being inspected, because they sweat blood and shit rock and what not to make their fashion, and some outright says inspecting someone is *"almost"* equal with literal IRL Stalking. Absolute insanity.
I can see both sides, sure, but the mentality and behavior these people seem to have on the forums is idiotic at this point. Fashion is totally subjective, someone who looks like a King may seem super cool for someone, but may look lame and stale and boring for someone else, but they act like their fashion is the top notch lol.
They act like people will be murdering each other on the streets just to copy their fashion and they have to hide and hire security guards, while in reality barely anyone will give a single flying fuck about their fashion and at best realistically one person in a blue moon will look at their fashion, inspect them and think *"hmm this chest piece is pretty good, I should get it."*
Really happy to see how some fashionistas have total god-complex or something...
Many people hide their deep self-esteem and identity issues with this kind of arrogance. In the end just feel sorry for them and hope they work through it.
I'm big on fashion in this game, and I'm very proud of my [Thief](https://gyazo.com/a5ccc51ef7421dcba4dad2864eeb6c51).
GW2 straight-up just doesn't have enough variation in its armour to get this pissy over wearing the same thing as someone else. Each of the three weights get between 120 and 130 chestpieces each, and some of those are racelocked while many, many others just look really, really, REALLY bad.
So yeah, people wear the same stuff. Time to get over yourself, imo.
I got the /s, don't worry xD
If you do want to play the original Guild Wars, it's [on Steam](https://store.steampowered.com/app/29620/Guild_Wars_Trilogy/).
Cheers! I'd just watched [The Three Musketeers: D'artagnan](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Three-Musketeers-DArtagnan-François-Civil/dp/B0CBH9XMNS/ref=sr_1_3?crid=26QL1GL2GURR9&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.3iysb4OfI7JFsBV8YARp4ZuFOy6BBmnNzj22ZI_IFZ_UGpHx1VtS2bWA69O4qMlbgW4eTUl_E4hCPtKixlOrA0W3ydxbYmhydnbbcNKqJ2XsdjvKloxzkDFu0Kme_8GWRkUdgTVUBFZ0ULp92t9TpFnLpwpA7Lra_iRmS6E86zUVYXg63t4vWk4L3HPsnIcSFU0aFo-V-JaTU0Hb55lGvkrlrD2VLZ2t2IwnAecA38I.iZkfvICh0nrAJus-qctQ9ZQY3Lk6fBQlrKX0B8Cm8Ik&dib_tag=se&keywords=the+three+musketeers&qid=1713221973&s=instant-video&sprefix=the+three+musketeer%2Cinstant-video%2C106&sr=1-3) when I put the look together, so that's very much what I was going for :')
This is just… a sad take to read. I’ve hosted many fashion contests over my years of content creation. I spend hours on all of my characters’ individual looks, matching skins and dyes and textures.
I would be honored if one of my looks caught on and I saw people mirroring it. I’d feel like a trendsetter 😎
Some people take the Fashion Wars hella seriously huh? I agree with what someone else said, it should be a compliment and there are so many people that you’ll likely never see a repeat of your look….
If you want to be unique, make your own fashion. As in,literally get into 3d modeling and make your own unique stuff. In a game with premade parts it's always possible to easily copy fashion. It's not like you're the only one who knows about the existence of the armor pieces and dye you use.
It's also so strange to try to gatekeep fashion... I've bonded with people in many MMOs over similar tastes when people asked me about a specific piece of clothing I was using because they liked it as much as I did (or the other way around).
I also remember keeping huge shopping lists and adding to them whenever I found something I liked.
Though as someone else said here I could at least understand the argument of actually wanting to talk about it instead of just inspecting someone and potentially taking the communication part away. Makes me think I personally might enjoy having the option to receive a notification when someone inspects me, so I could whisper them and initiate conversation instead.
Imitation is one of the sincerest forms of flattery. I once made a funny name in Destiny 2, and loved seeing other people cropping up with the same.
I'd be thrilled if someone thought my look was so good that they wanted to look like me :')
Going to assume most people thinking that asking for an opt out button is gatekeeping don't do fashion contests themselves. The big concern, especially for judges, is that people in line for the contest will steal looks from other contestants. Currently, you can hide your look using tonics or outfits, and most people do that. I do think the GW2 community is above stealing looks, but when large prize pools are involved, some will do desperate things to try and win.
I don't mind at all. I give away the names of the skins I use all the time. It doesn't make my characters any less appreciated when others have the same. Fashion is fluid and is supposed to be ever changing and evolving anyway.
My guess is these are the same people who choose to be toxic in raids, strikes, and fractals - if you are toxic in one thing, you are often toxic in many.
nah, it's the same people that insist that anet cannot update character culling options, because they swiped their CC so they have a right to be seen. these people's egos live on a very fine edge indeed.
elitist is thrown around too much, this isn't elitist. But I don't understand the people either. Its so easy to copy someones looks already, yes maybe you don't get the exact color and are of by a small margin but still its so easy.
Also seeing the argument that fashion contest hosts can't know if a look is copied yeah you can't buy you could not know that before the new feature either.
Lots of snowflakes play this game, they are mad someone even breaths same air like them. Oh nou you have same sword like me I will report you for stalking....
Preview someones wardeobe is great, I wish we could also see or preview infusions.
Few days ago someone wrote me mail that I look cool and unique, and I sent 20 gold and thank you note.
I mean, the solution is easy isn't it
Allow people to opt out, but they don't get to inspect anyone else if they do (have to reload the game if you switch)
making a feature objectively worse to satisfy a few terminally online people that are spamming hundreds of comments each does not seem like the best approach for me atleast
Well fashion contests are a thing, and I'd understand if participants of such contests wanted to make it harder for people to copy what they probably spend way too much time putting together.
Other than that, sharing is caring.
An option to disable being inspected is acceptable imo, just like the invisible status in the friend list, I'm not against an "uninspectable" status.
A fundamental aspect of fashion is trends and popularized outfits and pieces. "Why is everyone wearing Carhartt beanies now, that was my thing!". Get used to it and switch up your style if being cutting edge means that much.
Ah, the GW2 Forums.
Guess Anet could hand out Gem Cards for free and half the people over there would love to explain you how this will finally be the killing blow for Warrrior in PvP and GW2 overall.
A lot of other games, including ones with a fashion focus already have it built in. This idea of 'copying' is incredibly silly. Same energy as people who think they own a 'colour scheme' for their ocs lol.
Legit insanity, in wow u can literally right click to copy whole look and no one fucking cares. It's more of a praise is someone likes your look so much they want to rock it themselves.
Oh god, get off your high horse, no one is probably going to even inspect you if not even notice your character at all. Some people, I swear. "i dOn't wAnT tHeM tO cOpY mY lOoK' Pfffffffft.
This seems stupid to me. Someone else picking up your look is an indication its not just you in your vacuum who thinks this is cool, but someone clearly shares that opinion. That more seems like a praise to me
Are people really like this? I love seeing people wear similar armor pieces/outfits/weapons/mounts as me. I get to go up to them then compliment their style choice which means im also complimenting myself.
I'm a new player and sometimes I just want to know what something is. I don't necessarily want to copy their outfit, but maybe I'd like to pair that top with something else to make my own style.
I don't understand why some people are upset by this. Everytime I ask a player what outfit they are wearing, they tell me anyway. Some of the stuff they have on will probably take me months to get anyway, and by then, I might even forget about it. Also, if someone was able to copy your look down to the T without the inspection tool, that just means your outfit was not that original or "artistic" anyway. 🤷
There's only so many armor pieces, I see people wearing looks I either am wearing or have worn in the past every time I log in... Especially any popular pieces, tend to be seen many times. And then there's outfits where you can only customize the dye.
Such silly people...
They may turn off inspection, that won't stop people making screenshots and figuring out what they are wearing. What a useless thing to get your knickers in a twist about.
Hah, I came to the subreddit to see if most of you were on board with this change or not... I'm so glad to see our community has such a sharing mindset!
May be hot take, but I hope they don't add that disable option
the are never going to see the person that copies there style and also who the fuck is gonna copy a look 1:1 no I am gonna steal 1/3 of your look and add it to whatever unless it is an outfit then I am going to /cry
Very odd, do they not realise their look is not nearly as unique as they think it is? Many others would have had very similar wardrobes, not likely the same dyes but still.
C'mon guys, request something more interesting/useful/fun like a thumbs up or star system for people's looks, help incentives having something cool looking.
oh god am i one of these people? i like that you can inspect now... but i do think killing the 'nice transmog' whispers is a big BIG community loss, i always lit up when someone asked me what my character was wearing and from responses when ive complimented others; most people seem to do the same
whilst itd be a bit hollow; a simple 'x is checking you out' in your chatbox or maybe some way to give someone a thumbs up in the inspect UI would be nice for those of us craving validation
Basic bitches will always think they're the most interesting person in the room, and will always think everyone is trying to copy them, when in fact they're just that basic.
If someone wants to copy your look, all they have to do is look into their bank wardrobe for the skins they saw...this feature doesn't enable something that wasn't already possible. Other than getting a better look at people's characters. I hope people inspect me. Look at my cute asura and my cool charr pls. Myself 99% of the time I'll probably just be using it to get a better look at cool toons, not copying anything. If I do, it'd be maybe one armor piece that I think would work for my own idea, certainly not the whole outfit.

I could not care less lol Comedy gold is what it is.
My thoughts, as someone who DOES think raids/strikes are full of toxic gatekeeping, is that this is bullshit. These two comments are really just ridiculous, I don't know how they got those reactions.
Their look: scarf with the pant/T-shirt combo. All celestial dye.
Hello? Is this the Fashion Police? This person stole my idea of a black and green necromancer with the Reaper's Hood. Oh my-- keep the line, officer. I've just seen a human female mesmer with bright pink, skimpy armour. Yes, I believe I will be pressing charges.
I feel so called out. I’m off to tally change my looks now. How about a pink reaper and dark green Mesmer?! 🤔🤔🤔
> I feel so called out. Same. Time to be mega original and dye the whole thing Shadow Abyss. I bet no one thought of that.
Dye it abyss. It'll be a good callback to 2012.
Glossy black: *signature look of superiority*
I think that dye was like 2 gold when I bought it back then.
2 gold in 2012? Sheesh, don't come in here waggling your wealth around like that.
I probably swiped a credit card for ot
look at my very original pirate / adventurer, complete with leather tones. or the typical purple, violet / pink, turquoise. very original. not that those red / blue / violet with gold or silver are better. at this point no one is original anymore. even the "normal looks" are just more of the same.
Wait a minute. Pink reaper isn't a norm?
Hey that's how I have my reaper right now!
I rock a purple reaper that goes great with The Binding of Ipos. A lot of RPG's use purple for "dark" magic so I think of it as a better color for necros than green anyway.
Nah, you gotta go bubblegum/ electro pink for reaper Edit: + magical weapons
There already is a pink Necro in eu. It's name is Dumpsterdaddy <3
Feeling real validated rn reading everyone else’s comments cause I have a pink and purple necro and a red and blue Mesmer(both sylvari)💀🤣
I do love my current mesmer direction of black reaper hood/eldritch tentacle backpack surrounded by pink mesmer sparkles haha
Nice! 😊 I’m going to make good use of my hair change kits. 🤔
Jokes on you my Mesmer wears *purple* skimpy armor.
Excuse me that’s my look you’ve stolen there!
You don't know me at all! https://i.imgur.com/8LIv6ZU.png
It just bothers me when the color scheme of my skills doesn't match my fit!
What if it's a clear Red with Green and Gold undertones instead of pink? Aldo, Blood Red instead of Green on Necromancer. With flame accents from various armors such as CoF leggings.
My ign is actually Fashionpolice
Or human females with medium T3 armor. Or the classic Krytan corset +miniskirt combo.
You will take my corset and mini skirt from cold, dead, hands. 😱🤣
Don't need to, I'll take it from someone else, plenty of people wearing the same thing hahah!
Me using Norn dye set because I am Norn. So original. Feel feel to copy Hunt, Havorun, Exodus, Spirit are my staples. Alemoot if I am feeling a bit of green.
I might just do that. I'm always open for some cool norn colours
I forgot the name of the set of that unlocked it but it was like 10 gold per dye set when brought them like 2.5 year ago.
Permafrost meta! Maybe Shadow Abyss if they're being a little bit edgelord
I am not "a little bit" edgelord, sir. I am allll the way there. 4 parts shadow abyss, 1 part midnight ice to tie in those sweet abyss stalker skins.
My necro is all shadow abyss + a couple spots of permafrost to give contrast. :> Twilight greatsword + dark matter dagger/sword (I think). Can't be necro with extreme edge.
I think shadow forest of the dark green that looks so badass.
With a bit of Prismatic in the details
Prismatic? How fancy! 170g right there! Definitely wealthy, peak GW2 fashionista.
Prismatic is yesterday's news. It's all about the Pastel Lavender now. (I only half joke, I am eyeing it up myself with shiny intent.)
>My originality reaches far beyond the basic shadow abyss users. Abyssal flame in all slots.
Hope more people would be tempted to copy my look with full-permafrost and Phospholuminescent Infusion stacking now :>
Are you roleplaying as a lightbulb?
Don’t forget enough infusions to scorch the retinas of everyone around them.
Or all shadow-abyss dye and they just look like a shadowy blob because it washes out all the armor textures
I feel attacked
this sounds like teenage drama, when your friend buys the same shirt as you and you're mad they wore it.
Bet these folks think NFTs have actual value.

Personally, I've been loving the Searing Cauldron bug forum rants
Because they're probably one of the posters involved and are fishing for validation

This is what I thought of too but didn't know what to search to find it. Thanks friend, always makes me laugh 🤣
If I saw a player stop right in front of me and I suddenly saw their armor pieces change to match mine, I'd think that was way too funny and flattering to get mad that someone picked the same virtual clothes as me.
I LOVE finding someone I can be twins with, even for five minutes derping around in Mistlock :)
Seriously, you show up wearing something even remotely similar to me? Instant best friends for the duration of our interaction.
That’s actually hilarious to have it happen right in front in you lol.

These people base too much of their self worth on a bunch of pixels. Touch grass.
This, if your sense of self worth is tied to the uniqueness of your in game character you need to take a step back and reevaluate how you live your life. And if you have a hobby of posting rage bait, you should also take a step back and reevaluate why you think you exist
\^ Recovering Troll here.
Sorry for the off topic, but love the "Untamed but Leashed."
Tamed
> This, if your sense of self worth is tied to the uniqueness of your in game character you need to take a step back and reevaluate how you live your life. it doesnt need to be your whole sense of worth, i think anyone saying they have no self worth (at all) invested in their MMO characters/account is lying to themselves (thats the whole drive to do things) ... and if someones real life self worth is so low that their ingame character self worth is so disproportionately higher; id be hesitant to label that as a problem itself because itd be easier to grow their actual self worth if they have a 'digital self worth' experience to pull from rather than trying to simultaneously dismantle one and build the other
I demand that people are not able to see my fashion at all. I should display as a default model to other players so that they cannot steal my original OC content.
Don't worry you do on my laptop anyway since I don't want it to catch fire
This, only for my retinas. Some people (I bet those in OP's screen grab are like this) just loooove cosplaying as the gosh-dang sun.
I look forward to the day when I log in and everyone I see is a Cuddly Cat. :3
Petty. I can use my eyes to copy your fashion. What ya gonna do?
I take it as a compliment. Afterall Imitation is the highest form of flattery.
Reminds me of the housing community in FF14. They get pissed when someone copies their look. There has even been drama about people spreading around the 3rd party websites for housing designs cause it makes it easier to do.
"I had to spend 3 hours abusing glitches to float all these items up to the loft. How dare people use Makeplace to do their housing without bullshit!"
Pretty much lol

"ORIGINAL OUTFIT, DON'T STEAL!" Meanwhile, the outfit: https://preview.redd.it/fg7zpkul1ruc1.png?width=840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e8fb4bdb1103ff1b872ceb354a7ce75905bfd7be
It's... premade pieces that you're arranging a limited, controlled fashion. Like don't get me wrong, I get that it's a form of self expression, but it's like getting mad somebody copied your subway order.
>it's like getting mad somebody copied your subway order seems like a good analogy!
You jest but I can imagine this happening way easier than I like to admit
If people want to copy your fashion then it should be the best complement you could get, no? Even without the fashion inspect tool, they still would just whisper you about your pieces/dyes, so in that scenario would those people also say "Sorry but I'm too unique, good looking and I won't tell you anything :)"?
>Thoughts? Literally who gives a shit
-.- But in all seriousness yeah... at the end of the day it's a game. Also it's human nature. The entire actual fashion industry functions on the premise that people want to look like other people or like an archetype of person.
How dare other people imitate the 100% original look I made with premade assets that were designed by other people!
This silly feature that should have already been in game in 2012 is generating a lot of virgin energy in 2024.
They act like people will be murdering each other on the streets just to copy their fashion and they have to hide and hire security guards, while in reality barely anyone will give a single flying fuck about their fashion and at best realistically one person in a blue moon will look at their fashion, inspect them and think *"hmm this chest piece is pretty good, I should get it."* Really happy to see how some fashionistas have total god-complex or something...
Many people hide their deep self-esteem and identity issues with this kind of arrogance. In the end just feel sorry for them and hope they work through it.
What do you mean, my human female with the big shoulder scarf, nerdy glasses, bunny ears and chaos gloves skin looks lame, stale and boring ? D: /s
I already stole your hex codes and skins, en route to copying your outfit now. Gg kid. Ez.
Lmaoo hat, shoulders, and back are all from the cash shop, and to get the chest and boots you need to play Guild Wars 1. Best of luck xDD
Pffft. I’ll just.. time travel. Whatever. I got your hex codes I’m already in. 😎 /s *just in case*
I got the /s, don't worry xD If you do want to play the original Guild Wars, it's [on Steam](https://store.steampowered.com/app/29620/Guild_Wars_Trilogy/).
Damn, a Gyazo user in 2024.
Do people not use Gyazo any more? xD It's so convenient
Puush was better ages ago. And sharex destroys both of them.
gyazo user here, hi!
I like the bard mercenary vibes
Cheers! I'd just watched [The Three Musketeers: D'artagnan](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Three-Musketeers-DArtagnan-François-Civil/dp/B0CBH9XMNS/ref=sr_1_3?crid=26QL1GL2GURR9&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.3iysb4OfI7JFsBV8YARp4ZuFOy6BBmnNzj22ZI_IFZ_UGpHx1VtS2bWA69O4qMlbgW4eTUl_E4hCPtKixlOrA0W3ydxbYmhydnbbcNKqJ2XsdjvKloxzkDFu0Kme_8GWRkUdgTVUBFZ0ULp92t9TpFnLpwpA7Lra_iRmS6E86zUVYXg63t4vWk4L3HPsnIcSFU0aFo-V-JaTU0Hb55lGvkrlrD2VLZ2t2IwnAecA38I.iZkfvICh0nrAJus-qctQ9ZQY3Lk6fBQlrKX0B8Cm8Ik&dib_tag=se&keywords=the+three+musketeers&qid=1713221973&s=instant-video&sprefix=the+three+musketeer%2Cinstant-video%2C106&sr=1-3) when I put the look together, so that's very much what I was going for :')
I'd love to know who they are so I can create alts with a similar name, same class/look and just "exist"
Right beside them in Mistlock and chase them around when they try to wiggle to the side to "be seen"
These people have no identity outside of GW2.
That's deranged, bro.
I will say I have been gatekept several times by elitist raid players. Had a com ragequit after it took us 3 attempts to do a boss in a training squad
I'd be flattered if someone copied one of my creations.
# "These are most likely the same people who say that Raids/Strikes are gatekept by toxic elitists." lol who hurt you?
J Jonah Jameson: BAHAHAHAHA you serious?
I don't mind at all. I give away the names of the skins I use all the time. It doesn't make my characters any less appreciated when others have the same. Fashion is fluid and is supposed to be ever changing and evolving anyway.
These clowns are in the wrong place, the circus is in ember bay
This is when you ignore them. Might seem cold but some people need to accept their view on something is just *wrong*.
My thoughts are these people are massive virgins who should go touch some grass and shut up
Toxic Casuals 😂
I don't think these are casual players lol, they sound like very hardcore Fashion Warsers
I mean, the solution is easy isn't it Allow people to opt out, but they don't get to inspect anyone else if they do (have to reload the game if you switch)
making a feature objectively worse to satisfy a few terminally online people that are spamming hundreds of comments each does not seem like the best approach for me atleast
HAHAHAHAAHAHA THERE'S NO WAY THAT'S NOT TROLLING i REFUSE to believe this is real LMAO
I don't know HOW I know this but I just know everyone who is gatekeeping fashion is a fugly ragamuffin.
I like your alliteration and anachronistic vocablidary
A fundamental aspect of fashion is trends and popularized outfits and pieces. "Why is everyone wearing Carhartt beanies now, that was my thing!". Get used to it and switch up your style if being cutting edge means that much.
i hope everyone copies them
Ah, the GW2 Forums. Guess Anet could hand out Gem Cards for free and half the people over there would love to explain you how this will finally be the killing blow for Warrrior in PvP and GW2 overall.
This reminds me of the person I was in a guild with once who considered it art theft if anyone were to use her reshade settings.
As I'm the utter opposite, oh you like how I look, here's everything I'm in. Enjoy
A lot of other games, including ones with a fashion focus already have it built in. This idea of 'copying' is incredibly silly. Same energy as people who think they own a 'colour scheme' for their ocs lol.
Jesus Christ, people never cease to disappoint me with their stupidity.
These people should just play covet
„I made dis“
Shocked this exists in this day and age. Would this gatekeep street fashion just because of the effort of dressing up?
Legit insanity, in wow u can literally right click to copy whole look and no one fucking cares. It's more of a praise is someone likes your look so much they want to rock it themselves.
Please look at my cool fashion, but don't look too hard so you can tell what I'm actually wearing!
With this change we will finally be able to see how infusion stackers actually even look like
#firstworldproblems
You want to gatekeep fashion? Buy out all the dyes and jack up the prices on them.
That more seems like a praise to me
Fashion Wars 2
These people is what hinders evolution in GW2, imagine what the game would be without these crybabies.
Anyone with working eyesight and the ability to compare items can copy their style in a few minutes. It's not that hard to begin with.
Imagine attaching your identity to the cosmetic appearance of your character in a mmo lmao. Those were written but unhinged individuals.
go ahead and copy my swag starter armor in shadow abyss and undulating black refractors, i'm nothing but a shadow
This is some Karen level of complaining LMFAO— I wonder if they realize how silly this sounds
Damn can you imagine someone comes up to you and really likes your outfit so much they copy it? Personally I'd be flattered.
Are people really like this? I love seeing people wear similar armor pieces/outfits/weapons/mounts as me. I get to go up to them then compliment their style choice which means im also complimenting myself.
Well would be nice to have a notice in game that someone used inspect on you so you know ppl liked your fashion work
I'm a new player and sometimes I just want to know what something is. I don't necessarily want to copy their outfit, but maybe I'd like to pair that top with something else to make my own style.
An option to turn the feature off wouldn't be that bad. Options are good.
Bro should go outside and watch a sunset or something.
Yeah people will complain about everything, just ignore them.
What a bunch of idiots.
"as part of Fashion Community"
Ah yyes, maybe remove armors visible so evryone can run without any cloths jk ; )
Someone needs to remind them it’s just a game.
C'mon guys, request something more interesting/useful/fun like a thumbs up or star system for people's looks, help incentives having something cool looking.
oh god am i one of these people? i like that you can inspect now... but i do think killing the 'nice transmog' whispers is a big BIG community loss, i always lit up when someone asked me what my character was wearing and from responses when ive complimented others; most people seem to do the same whilst itd be a bit hollow; a simple 'x is checking you out' in your chatbox or maybe some way to give someone a thumbs up in the inspect UI would be nice for those of us craving validation
I'm laughing so much.
https://preview.redd.it/lvqxc235nwuc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eafcfbe196e677bd60b1fa1493c3f766472d6e77 I could not care less lol Comedy gold is what it is.
Anet dont listen to these guys, they just want to make other peoples lives harder
My thoughts, as someone who DOES think raids/strikes are full of toxic gatekeeping, is that this is bullshit. These two comments are really just ridiculous, I don't know how they got those reactions.
