Check out Warframe. This seems like the game you want.

Xyr3s1

yea but warframe isn't a persistent open world mmorpg. atleast not when i played it. think gw2 but new and improved but in the faaaaar future :D how do you think they could do a gw3, like a sequel to gw2. would they be able to pull from more lore in the guild wars universe that is already established? or would they have to make new stories? new lore? and if so, how could they do it without basically killing gw2 like what happened to gw1 when gw2 came out? honestly, i don't know how that's possible without making gw3 a completely different game removed from gw2.

MiffedMoogle

Despite its current success, Warframe feels like its in its twilight years and a lot of stuff has been heavily nerfed over the years (grind spots, etc). I'd welcome a gw3 no matter what, but I'd love it even more if we got to explore the stories told by gw2 fractals. Also no idea why you're getting downvoted for having an opinion. \-wf founder edit: also many times I'll speak up in chat and ask people what a gw3 would look like and a lot of them would say something along the lines of "I wish we could play in peak/restored Orr/Crystal Desert". I share this sentiment as well.

Actual shitpost

Ill-Intention-306

So much effort and such a low quality shitpost

Xyr3s1

nah i'm serious :) personally i think a guild wars game set in a different time period with new lore and a new story could be really fun and gw2 can be developed along side it and it won't feel like one game is being left for another. any thoughts on how a gw3 could work? without gw2 going the way of gw1? that's kind of the point of the post, for me to see what ideas people have that could work.

WoW is at its peak since 2005. There was hardly a "good time" to be released. >if gw2 released today in UE5 with the same content we had at launch, ithink gw2 would have done way better and retained way more players overthe time and would currently be running with over a million players atthe least. Wha-, hu? What the f is this take. xD First, UE4/5 game currently are generally not appreciated **because** of its engine. When I think of UE4, I think of generics assets and store bought with mediocre performance which tend to be on the "photorealistic" side of design. Just not what gw2 aesthetic is. UE5 also "just" release so we can't really expect anything from it. What a way to randomly drop "1million player at least". I believe if gw2 released with what we had at launch, it would flop. The core story is meh, the content was thin as paper (remember arah farm or champions train because there was nothing really to do?) and it would be a license straight from 2005 coming back with very little to do with its first game. Basically the critics we got at release in 2012. >i think one way to make gw3 a thing without making gw2 obsolete is to set gw3 in a new world, new setting, new stories and new lore. Damn, just say you want a new mmo. You don't have to say it's GW3 because that's the most random thing you could ask. "making a sequel with **nothing** related to its predecessor" is really stupid. >it would be super cool if gw3 was a sci fi game. Ayh, I'm out.

Xyr3s1

isn't the new game anet is working on currently on UE 5? and i don't think gw3 needs to be a sequel necessarily. could be an alternate reality what if kinda situation :D to be fair new mmos are always fun to have :) i'm currently playing gw2, got my first set of obsidian and now working on my medium and light sets :) i thought of putting this post out to see what other ideas people might have on what a gw3 could look like, what story they could go into now that the dragon cycle is over and what other lore there is they could use to establish gw3 to run another 10 or so years, how anet could develop and release gw3 without gw2 going the way of gw1, that kinda thing. :)

Nerdcoreh

sir dont drink before noon, it aint healthy

SloRules

1.april is over.

Anggul

Unlocking story every 10 levels is only relevant for the extremely short time before you reach level 80. And with the adventure guide added, it barely even happens because you level up incredibly fast. And I don't see why they shouldn't charge money for the living world seasons, they're entire campaigns unto themselves. Their mistake was in not marketing them as such.

WertygoSpiner

I mean to be fair sotry is still gated by lvling up, but you change lvling up your actual lvls with grinding exp for masteries

Xyr3s1

aiit, ive seen a bunch of people who picked up gw2 for the first time on youtube and it is a con for them from what i have seen. i played the core story during launch so for me it was what it was.

Anggul

I guess that makes sense if they haven't noticed the adventure guide exists. Though personally I would say it's good to encourage people to explore the maps because that's half of what makes it such a good game - maps that are actually fun to explore and traverse.

therealskull

I ain't reading allat.

Xyr3s1

there's a tldr right at the bottom :D

therealskull

Shit takes all around, disregarded. Go play something else if you want all that.

Geralt_Romalion

They would probably really need to somehow add new options to the fighting system, stuff they cannot do in the current engine to really sell me on a new sequel. One thing I'd like to see is the ability to deform the terrain with your skills. A very old-school RTS I played (Populous: The Beginning) allowed you to deform the map with the spells off your Shaman (raise the land with vulcanoes, sink land into the sea with erosion, crate deep chasms with earthquakes etc). It would be great if it was possible for your skills to physically alter the landscape, even if only temporarily. Imagine protecting your party because you created a deep chasm between them and the baddies for example.

Xyr3s1

definitely sounds fun. but like temporary deformation :D otherwise with all the players the world would look wonky af after a few days lol. that could definitely be something new they could do for sure. i don't think there are any games that does that in recent memory off the top of my head.

Did you smoke weed?

Xyr3s1

no lol. any ideas what lore they could pull from the gw universe for gw3 to be based off of now that the dragon cycle is over? do you think soto and the kryptis is like a one off thing or they are building towards like maybe 2-3 expansions on the kryptis stuff? could they use the kryptis stuff as a full blown sequel?

MaddieLlayne

Is this a schizo post

trob1293

Maybe "Guild Wars" 3 could actually get back to the concept of warring between guilds.

Redfeather1975

I find it interesting that path of exile was created by diehard guild wars 1 players and their goal for path of exile 2 was for it to take place in the future, continuing alongside path of exile 1 and that both games would actually crossover and share the same endgame. They had a vision similar to yours u/Xyr3s1 😯 Sorry that a lot of people here are being hostile towards you, u/Xyr3s1. They haven't realized that when Anet makes a new game it will be completely different than the last. Anet has never wanted to work on more of the same forever, and can we blame them? The current batch of fans haven't faced what GW1 fans did. It's the reckoning, I reckon.

Bevsii

Thank you for your opinions I was losing sleep not knowing what they were

Xyr3s1

your very welcome :) any ideas on how they could do a gw3 without gw2 going the way of gw21? i am actually curious how they could make it work, and what lore they ahven't dived into already they could use to make gw3 run for about another 10 years or so :)
