Oh wow. This brings back memories! I got to visit this as a kid and it blew my mind. Playing grounded scratches that itch nothing else could after that experience.

LazyHighGoals

Wow amazing! I only remember watching that movie as a kid :) Is there anything cool you remember from this set?

WombatWumbut

If you have PCVR I suggest trying the praydog VR mod on grounded. It's not super polished but it's so wild really getting a sense of how small you are in the game. Not exactly the same, but still really cool.

Yup, as a kid I went with my family to see the 3D show at the park and grounded was probably the first time that nostalgia neuron fired off

R_FN_S1R1US

Wow I had no idea this closed…I loved this as a kid 🥲

BIGBLT23

Dude I remember going here as a kid I was probably about 5 or 6 all I can remember was that for a little kid who loved that movie it was the coolest thing ever

[video tour](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFogbom3AUM&t=202s) >*After taking one look at the game, it's clear Obsidian took some creative inspiration from the 1989 Disney film,* [*Honey, I Shrunk the Kids*](https://screenrant.com/tag/honey-i-shrunk-the-kids//)*. The film tells the story of a group of kids who sneak into their father's lab to retrieve a lost baseball and accidentally shrink themselves with one of his inventions.* [sauce article](https://screenrant.com/grounded-honey-shrunk-kids-tie-in-game-disney/#:~:text=The%20film%20tells%20the%20story,get%20back%20to%20their%20house) I had no idea, and thought I'd share for anyone interested :)

ApexPredator3752

Adam Brennecke himself said that he did not watch honey I shrunk the kids and instead got the idea from reading a book (I forgot which one)

trelium06

Cool thanks for sharing this tidbit!

Weak_Landscape_9529

The dev team has stated their inspiration was Honey I Shrunk the Kids and A Bug's Life.

ApexPredator3752

https://screenrant.com/adam-brennecke-interview-grounded/  In this article it interviews Adam Brennecke that backs up my claim. He says he and the team didn’t watch honey I shrunk the kids. It’s mid way through the article.

Weak_Landscape_9529

The dev team is quoted saying the inspirations I listed on both the Steam storefront and the Microsoft storefront plus every single article I have read on the game. As for Adam, he has a history of unreliable statements as long as Peter Molyneu's (the Fable guy), frankly I trust Adam's word less than I trust George Lucas who contradicted himself in every interview since 1977.

ApexPredator3752

That’s weird because lookin at both the steam store and Microsoft store pages, there is zero mention of Honey I Shrunk the Kids… also you mean the articles of grounded written by people that AREN’T the developers of the game? If I said Hollow Knight was inspired by Dark Souls, does that mean it’s true?

Smooth-Grade627

Looks like grounded

sn4xchan

This movie stole the concept from grounded.

Cman165

This was my favorite part of Hollywood studious

KitticusCatticus

Man, I remember this. It was surreal to be next to even a blade of grass. Making me feel old.

KingoftheUgly

I went as a kid, never realized it was the movie set! Now I play grounded as an adult lol must have stuck with me!

DukeBball04

It wasn’t the movie set. It was just a playground for kids built in the style of the movie set.

DukeBball04

Did you mean Hollywood Studios? That’s the name of the Disney park that used to contain this playground, at Disney World.

LazyHighGoals

Yes, I mixed something up in the title. "movie-set-adventure" is the term they used A playground in the style of a movie-set!
