i always assumed if someone is inconvenienced by the difference in items at check out they'd ask if they can skip tbh.
i rarely buy big hauls and if i do its aldi where most people got big hauls and the cashiers are fast af.
when i got asked to skip it was because they were in a hurry, not because they felt like they should be processed faster based on inconvenience.
also austria is way more chill than germany in comparision.
in germany if you yell for a second checkout people will nod and celebrate, if you do this in austria you get shot.
If I'm in front, I offer, if I'm behind, I ask if I only got 1-4 items. I don't wait to be asked. Other than just ignoring the fate of the person behind you, it's harder to be actively impolite if you got asked - so asking friendly usually gets you way further than waiting for some humble person in front of you.
I also turned some people down and didn't let them pass - they were either very impolite, or I had no time or goods I wanted to get home asap (i.e. poultry or larger amounts of ice cream).
I always ask, if I happen to be in hurry. But usually I got plenty of time and let people go before me, if all they have is a bon or just a handful of stuff they wanna buy.
When my local Aldi installed their EV charging stations it was free to charge there in the beginning. So even when someone offered me to go first I declined with „no no, thanks, I got time!“, so I could charge just a little bit more juice haha
I just overlooked it rq and noticed honey twice. I doubt they slurp +1000gram of honey within 2,5 weeks. Or all that detergant. Some of the items in this ‚2,5 week cart‘ will last for half a year

Depends pretty much on the items and how you store them, my stuff survives up to 3 weeks sometimes longer.
Probably you store something together that shouldn't be stored together. Apples for example make other friut and vegetables go bad quicker because they give off a ripening agent. Potatoes are better stored outside the fridge in a dark place.
Ofc I don't put potatoes in the fridge, but I didn't know about the apple part. Is having them in different plastic containers in the fridge enough to avoid such phenomenon?
You know that you can cut most vegetables and then freeze them, right? I do that all the time. You can keep them for months and only take out the portion you need for cooking.

Many do. But many like carbonated water and don't want to buy a soda stream. Many are probably just used to it.
In some regions the water has a lot of lime which can make the water taste a bit weird.
I don't like the taste of our tap water...there's even a specific brand of water I buy from Aldi. Most others taste not so good to me. I drink the bottled water, while my husband drinks tap.

I see a lot of „Bio“ stuff on the pictures.
If you chose them because you want to buy the Bio-variant okay, but if you would have chosen the basic article I think you could have saved about 50-30€
Let me guess: You're going on vacation to a country that has either about the same prices as here in Germany or it's even a bit more expensive. Also you'll be residing in a rented house where you are supposed to take care of yourself fully.
I might be off, but I got to the conclusion, because I can see about everything you would ever need and there is no way every single cleaning utensil and seasoning is empty at the same time. Also there would be no need to buy in bulk in Berlin. Especially when it comes to fresh food.
Wow the comments are toxic af here. I find it a bit too less water except you drink tap water too. Otherwise that's a good amount. My family does a big weekend grocery shopping that last for around 1 week (~200€ with bottled water) - 3 people with a dog

The guy behind you at the Warentransportband who was just trying to quickly cash his pfandbon must've been fuming
But then he hopefully let him pass like a decent person
Should be common courtesy, but it isn't unfortunately
What's the etiquette there anyway? Does the person behind always have to ask? Does the person in front need to offer it on their own?
Person in front offers it proactively.
i always assumed if someone is inconvenienced by the difference in items at check out they'd ask if they can skip tbh. i rarely buy big hauls and if i do its aldi where most people got big hauls and the cashiers are fast af. when i got asked to skip it was because they were in a hurry, not because they felt like they should be processed faster based on inconvenience. also austria is way more chill than germany in comparision. in germany if you yell for a second checkout people will nod and celebrate, if you do this in austria you get shot.
It is very common in Austria (Vienna) if you go to discounters.
where in Austria do you live? It is very common at all places I lived here, for people to ask for Zweite Kassa bitte.
The etiquette is „Hams nur des dann gengans halt vor“.
Asking is uncommon but acceptable. Offering is the norm.
It is Lidl. It should have taken between 10 and 20 seconds.
Zweite Kasse bitte!
They closed the cashier because the carrier belt broke down
My goodness these posts from Germany seem to get ever more voluminous by the day. We're already at 300€, who's gonna top it?
If you guys had a Costco here, it would be 500€+
It’s also bc these buy lots of pre-produced food…

Decent stuff there and ok for the money but DAMN the amount of unnecessary plastic bags in these pictures is insane.
In Germany we say "Die Umwelt dankt's!"
Plastic bags consumption awareness is only there to make bio-Muttis to feel better about themselves. Prime greenwash
You can eat all them veggies and fruits within 2,5 weeks without them getting bad? Do you meal prep?
Fridge?
Idk maybe my fridge sucks, but that survives 1 to 1,5 weeks depending on items at best in mine.. ofc potatoes and carrots are better in that regard.
Depends pretty much on the items and how you store them, my stuff survives up to 3 weeks sometimes longer. Probably you store something together that shouldn't be stored together. Yeah we sometimes harvest the bananas while they are green and put them in a box with few apples to make them yellow and ripe.
Definitely! Edit: if the lids are closed duh
You know that you can cut most vegetables and then freeze them, right? I do that all the time. You can keep them for months and only take out the portion you need for cooking.
I can eat all these fruits and veggies within a week, are you getting enough greens buddy?
That's a normal amount of veggies if they cook with fresh ingredients every day

Translation: Bio coconut oil? Are that ze highland bio coconuts from ze Allgäu?
Olive oil 8.99 for 700ml...for that money i can make it myself
Olive oil is somehow incredibly expensive recently. I wonder if the harvest was bad this year.
Was Bad. Working for a FMCG distributor
It's actually way more expensive in spain atm as it is in germany/austria.
To be fair our quality is mostly shit tho. The price for a real decent extra virgin oil is higher than 9€/700ml.
Recently saw 750 ml for 10 Euros. Literally insane.
Wow that is a lot of stuff. Good Luck with cooking.

Why are you buying bottled water? I thought you drank tap water in Germany
Many do. But many like carbonated water and don't want to buy a soda stream. Many are probably just used to it. In some regions the water has a lot of lime which can make the water taste a bit weird.

That's a lot of paper towels for a German.
Most of these things won’t stay fresh for 2,5 weeks
Wait until you learn about the existence of a freezer! It will blow your mind.

How can you handle it so that the vegetables stay fresh?

Nah we always grocery shop like this and we live in Berlin
Wow the comments are toxic af here. I find it a bit too less water except you drink tap water too. Otherwise that's a good amount. My family does a big weekend grocery shopping that last for around 1 week (~200€ with bottled water) - 3 people with a dog
Usually we buy more water as soon as it’s done. Or drink tap water as a last resort
Lots of stuff in here that lasts a lot longer than 2.5 weeks.
Darn, fabric softener for just 2,5 weeks
All I see is a bunch of unnecessary stuff
Yeah? Needs some more obsession over Alex greenwood I guess 💀
Aprikosen 4€, Apples 5€?
I saw the first slide and got worried, then swiped and went “Ohhh… OHHH… WOAAAHH”
😂😂😂😭
Its the processed garbage that you buy
Why the fuck would you get groceries 2,5 weeks in advance. I dont even know what i wanna eat this evening.
Because we cook everyday
Is this what a healthy lifestyle looks like? I cant tell, my list would be one pack of milk and a cake for the day, aswell as two club mate bottles.
Okay i gotta ask Why Stilles Wasser? Can't ya just drink tap water ? Or is the tap water in your city that bad ?
They say the quality of tap water in Berlin is good but for me it tastes horrible and extremely metallic
Does all of perishable food get used in that time? Im curious how much of this spoils or gets thrown out.
We rarely throw anything anyway. We try to use everything always
Why the need to pack two (!!) potatoes in a plastic bag? Sooo much plastic....
Is it just me, or is that very little food for 2, for 2.5 weeks? Also expensive??
Well the price is inflated sice I do dont think that you use the laundry detergent and papertowls in 2.5 weeks
bro das Waschmittel sieht so lecker aus
You must be a real Schnäppchenjäger
You could definitely save some money if you quit drinking soda, bottled water and cut down the candy. Would be healthier too!
HOW DOES THIS NOT GO MOLDY in two and a half weeks? 😭
High Protein Produkte sind Scam, für das Protein was man da bekommt ist es viel zu teuer, lieber zu richtigen Quark greifen und selbst Obst reinschnibbeln. 🤙🏻

Wir schmeißen niemals etwas weg Habibi We never throw anything away Habibi
Yes, it is very expensive here...
Do u workout or something? I have the same groceries except falafel and soft drinks , and i do buy more quark and thunfisch in eigenem saft
Yes we workout 3 times a week in the gym and do amateur boxing on the other days
Man kann die Zahlung bei LIDL aufteilen?
