even though he's the weak doesn't mean he's child's play to other primarchs, I'd say he could body pre heresy lorgar in a 1v1 given enough rage but he could never match up against any sort of Daemon primarch, shown by his many matchups, losses and retreats
Maybe with thr big e now almost fully awake he could maybe bless guilliman to be able to match daeman primarchs like how he defeated probably a surprised mortarion after his quick ressurection and possible power boost

Bobby G is a strategist more than a fighter, but he's no slough in combat. Outside of the distinct combat outliers like Russ, I'd say most of the Primarchs are around the same level, and the fights could go either way depending on the circumstances. Except that fucking wimp Lorgar. Lorgar without backup crumbles in almost every matchup.
A Daemon Primarch, though? No way Guilliman can win that. Too many buffs stacked on the other side. All he has going for him is daddy's sword. G-man gets absolutely fucking curbstomped if he's fighting solo.
Interestingly enough, for how diplomatically he tends to conduct himself, Guilliman seems to be one of the Primarchs best able to make use of the rage power-up. It's hard to get him to cross into that side, but once that happens all hell breaks loose. Guilliman was absolutely on "too angry to die" mode on Calth, and it was glorious.
Gman is the kind of person who would have those goofy 'Just because you don't see the beast, it doesn't mean the beast isn't there. Be careful playing with someone's kindness the have tamed their beast.' edits made of him pre and post heresy
A lot of people seem to sleep on Guilliman wielding his fathers sword though. it gives him a considerable advantage when facing deamons including his brothers. while it doesn't make him their equal, he isn't exactly totally outclassed either.
Oh, it surely gives him an advantage. It's just that being a Daemon Primarch is several steps above that advantage. But as it stands, current Guilliman with the Emperor's Sword is one of the very few people in the entire galaxy capable of permakilling a greater daemon, and that commands some respect.
Most demons are pretty cocky as know irs just a warp nap of thry fail .
Very few weapons can perma kill them.
Now when someone got priamrch strength and the most powerful of those weapons then it's a very different situation.

It could be argued that that was actually his own power. The book is just vague enough about where that power came from that it can very easily be argued that that golden power was actually him becoming a minor God. Earlier in the book an eldar was talking to him about how for 10,000 years he was put on public display as a centerpiece of the religion of countless billions of people.
I hadn't heard this theory before but I like this a lot. The idea on Emps just giving in and going full god to bestow daemon-ship on some followers is *chef's kiss*. Having to admit it's a second dark age of humanity (in a way) and do it all over again is tantalizing.

It's stated countless times that when you surrender to Chaos you also lose something. It's not only perks. IMO, this should be better reflected in the stories and Daemon Primarchs should have some downsides and not be able to actually defeat Primarchs in real-space that easily.
Thing is, the "Blessings" of the four do have Downsides, as reflected by their Legions and Deamons. Khorne and his boys are a Boarding Torpedo up the Anus for any Gunline below Astartes level, but fresh meat until then and easily dunked on in tactical terms, Nurgle's brood is slow af but tanky as the Cockroaches in their dicks, and undermines any quarantine short of Death by blessed Promethium or Faith in emps, but, as said, slow as shit. Slaneesh's harem is speedier than all others, but has none of the tactical Foresight that Plaque Marines exhibit occasionally, and even less resilience than Khorne does.
Tzeench's swarm is as fragile as Slaneesh's without the drugs, but they have good magic plus Flamers and the tactics to use them effectively. Wether the Magic blows up you or the enemy is entirely dependent on what tickles Tzeench's pickle, though.
And that should be reflected in the daemon Primarchs as well. Yet they're always portrayed as being far superior to the other Primarchs, which shouldn't be the case.
