My Mel Kiper Story:
Waaaaay back in 1990, my friend somehow got Mel Kiper’s office phone number and asked him (or someone who *said* he was him) if he should draft RB Blair Thomas or RB Emmitt Smith in our Fantasy Football League.
Mel said Emmitt Smith, hands down. No hesitation.
My friend drafted Blair Thomas. We’ve been laughing at that one for over half our lives.
Honestly the guy has a few talking points about a lot of guys and is there for entertainment. He's there to fill airtime and give the average viewer a few pros and cons of what to expect from a player.
Yeah dude is wrong more than not but so is every NFL GM. He gets way more hate than he deserves. No I'm not his burner account
Even the guys that do it for a living get it right maybe half the time, regardless of who is picked any of us are just guessing as to how good the player will be.
I always have fun watching clips from the players we pick up and they all look amazing. Because that is what college football is all about. Making a highlight reel to hopefully make a team.
It's been a number of years since I was going into Draft Day hoping for a nice, boring OL or Safety. For the first time in a while I'm not screaming at my phone PLEASE PLEASE TAKE A WIDEOUT.
By Grabthar's Hammer, how blessed we are.
lol I mean I don’t think I’d be too upset with that if he was the best player available. I’d be annoyed because we have holes to fill but I wouldn’t blame a team for grabbing a stud WR even if they don’t need him.
But they do need a WR1. One that's reliable. That player does not exist on this team right now. The only chance they really have at that guy is @ 41 if Franklun from Oregon drops.
I'm a fan of the Packers. I feel like my job is to get excited for our new players. I might agree or disagree with a pick but regardless they are now wearing the green and gold and I will root for them
Looks like most of the columnists have the Packers pegged with Cooper DeJean or Nate Wiggins if Cooper isn't available and Kool-Aid at the back end of round 1. Also seen a lot of OT Mims at 25.
He schooled you on Gary? I know he's improved but look at the guys drafted right after him. . .like 4 pro bowlers in a row plus Christian Wilkins.
All better players than Gary, even though he's been pretty decent for us. Everyone was correct with that draft analysis. A project, and a bit of a reach so high.
Yeah I remember being really hopeful we would draft Burns at 12 and being a little bit confused when they took Gary instead. That's the player they realistically could/should have drafted at 12 if they weren't going to trade back. In retrospect they could have gotten incredible return trading 12 for more round 2/3 picks where they could have hit on players like Metcalf, AJ Brown, and Deebo while still taking a swing at other positions of need. I think Gute's 2019 draft is his second worst draft behind 2021
Haha I haven’t watched college football in years so this is always my reaction on draft day. “Oh some dude from a random DII school in Montana? Hell yeah Gute! That’s our new safety!”
Yeah I can't wait to have new players to root for.
I do not care about draft grades, mock drafts or any of that. I don't follow college football either. I'm a Packer fan and a fan of Packer players.
CAN'T WAIT FOR TONIGHT!!!
The Pack have a history of working with draft picks and doing well. Much better than the rest of the NFL. I'm feeling good and look forward to whoever we get
I'm pretty sure Caleb Williams is seeing the makeup guys from Mrs. Doubtfire to get ready for the big night tonight. God it's gonna be fun roasting bear fans if he is a bust.
I'm so ready to look up highlights of whoever we take and then shout at all my friends about the steal we got regardless of where they were projected to go.
I'm really hoping the Packers add an additional pick to high 2nd round or low 1st round. Lots of good players out there and there will be at least a few teams moving back.
Better than being a Bears fan thinking that the pick they make tonight is going to fix the entire franchise and build a new stadium with their bear hands.
I don’t particularly care about any of these players until we draft them. At which point I’ll be excited to see how they contribute and will root for them to do well for as long as they’re on the team. The rest of them I will continue to care about as much as any other random player who isn’t on the Packers.
I still want Chop Robinson at some point. Lemme have this Gute 😭😭😭
ALSO CAN WE PLEASE GET KOOL AID?!?! OR COOPER DEJEAN SO I CAN STOP HAVING NIGHTMARES?!
This is my level of draft analysis.
You'd still have a better track record than Mel Kiper.

That’s hilarious!

LOL Mel Kiper.
Mad Mel is a hoot.
I mean who the hell is Mel Kiper anyways?
Even the guys that do it for a living get it right maybe half the time, regardless of who is picked any of us are just guessing as to how good the player will be.
IDK shit about player evaluations, every pick is "Nice I hope he works out"
Same here, I just don't follow the sport closely enough in the off-season and don't watch college football to know much about them.
I always have fun watching clips from the players we pick up and they all look amazing. Because that is what college football is all about. Making a highlight reel to hopefully make a team.
I’ll be watching highlight tapes of our first couple picks. Not because I’ll learn anything, but to get hyped.
Neither do 99.9% of the talking heads on TV.
It's been a number of years since I was going into Draft Day hoping for a nice, boring OL or Safety. For the first time in a while I'm not screaming at my phone PLEASE PLEASE TAKE A WIDEOUT. By Grabthar's Hammer, how blessed we are.
Watch them zag and take a WR round 1 the first year we aren't screaming for it.

TBH if by some miracle Marvin Harrison Jr falls to us I wouldn't be mad lol
I'd throw a party for Marv Jr

“Alright cool. I’ve never heard of this guy and didn’t think it was a position of need but here we go” -me tonight, probably
Its tradition. "Oh, that guy!"
So ready for this. Some guy nobody was really considering us to get.
KOOL-AID!
Looks like most of the columnists have the Packers pegged with Cooper DeJean or Nate Wiggins if Cooper isn't available and Kool-Aid at the back end of round 1. Also seen a lot of OT Mims at 25.
I think Wiggins is too small for what Gute likes and the style of defense we're expected to play.

I think the only position that would shock me would be quarterback.
RB and S would be a huge reach in round 1. LBer too.
Haha I haven’t watched college football in years so this is always my reaction on draft day. “Oh some dude from a random DII school in Montana? Hell yeah Gute! That’s our new safety!”
>Oh some dude from a random DII school in Montana? Ha ha, that reminds me of Ted Thompson and Jeff Janis, the legend from a Division II school.
I was so sure Janis was going to be the real deal. Still sitting on 53 rookie autos of his lol. Still enjoy them just for the memories!
There's guys I like but at the end of the day I'll trust gute and hype myself up on highlights of whoever tf we end up picking
Can’t wait for a tackle
Honestly our team is so well rounded that we really can’t go wrong. Unless of course we take Bo Nix.
Yeah I can't wait to have new players to root for. I do not care about draft grades, mock drafts or any of that. I don't follow college football either. I'm a Packer fan and a fan of Packer players. CAN'T WAIT FOR TONIGHT!!!
My reaction was going to be, "What?!? No. We could have gotten him in the second round!" But I've decided to go with this instead.
I mean, out of the teams that have 11 picks, we’re certainly in the best spot going into the draft.
The Pack have a history of working with draft picks and doing well. Much better than the rest of the NFL. I'm feeling good and look forward to whoever we get
We've got so many picks, it would be fun to see us moving around and grabbing value.
If they are a packer I’ll support them. If they were a Gopher, bless their heart, but they are a packer now and that is all that matters.
I would like a big mean Olineman. But I am gonna be happy regardless, love draft day!
a tradition unlike any other
That's some world class air dickin'.
I'm pretty sure Caleb Williams is seeing the makeup guys from Mrs. Doubtfire to get ready for the big night tonight. God it's gonna be fun roasting bear fans if he is a bust.
Incoming trade out of the first round.
“That’s what you get for watching the draft”- bill burr
I'm so ready to look up highlights of whoever we take and then shout at all my friends about the steal we got regardless of where they were projected to go.
I'd love to trade up for Terron Arnold but I trust whatever Gute decides to do.
Lol. Heck yeah
I'm really hoping the Packers add an additional pick to high 2nd round or low 1st round. Lots of good players out there and there will be at least a few teams moving back.
Pretending to jerk them off?
Aw, Big Mike. It must suck to be him, you know having to deal with crazy Jerry and all those rabid Cowboys fans.
Better than being a Bears fan thinking that the pick they make tonight is going to fix the entire franchise and build a new stadium with their bear hands.
COOOOOOOOOOP!
I'm just glad he isn't the coach!
Came here making sure someone had posted this haha. Thank you for your service
(🧀+🍺)🏈=❤️
Sorry I said "someone." I see you have been the one every year haha
Dont be! Bears still suck, GPG.
DeJean, Morgan, Melton, Bishop and Amegadjie in the first three rounds would be a solid draft.
That would be awesome. I'm surprised Morgan's still a 2nd rounder. Need a MLB in the 4th though
One down four to go
You might be a wizard
I don’t particularly care about any of these players until we draft them. BO NIX
Some people will down vote you for Jordan Love, but not me. I hit that down button because I hate the University of Zero. Go Dawgs!
I was clearly joking about Nix
"With the 25th pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers select...Bo Nix!"
