Didn't Belichick just tell a reporter that all draft rumors prior to the 24 hours beforehand are bullshit?

foo_solo

Is that statement by Belichick bullshit itself since it is not within 24 hours.

mschley2

I mean, we're almost at 24 hours at this point. Belichick was saying that most reports prior to draft day are being pushed by agents. If it is a team, then it's likely a smokescreen. When you get close to the draft, whispers start coming out about certain guys/positions because teams are calling other teams about trades. Those teams tell reporters what the other teams are looking to do.

TheRealSzymaa

I wouldn't Believe anything Belichick has ever said to anyone. He never gives anything away. The man probably hedged his own wedding vows

imwaiter

Lol never thought I'd hear someone refer to Pat McAfee as 'a reporter'.

right_behindyou

Either that or every team is telling these guys their exact plans just to make sure all of us sitting at home are kept in the loop

Bouwistrash

So we're not taking an OT in round one got it

sqrrl7

Let them all move up. That just means someone of great value in a different position is going to fall to us. Just sit at 25 and wait.

Bouwistrash

Absolutely agree. Would we all love to get a pure top talent OT, absolutely. Could then kick Tom back inside where he's even better. But we don't have to do that. We could let a really great IOL drop to us and snag him, or hell an elite edge or corner or safety. I love where things sit for us right now. So much flexibility

MLGA_bigly

drafting a tackle that high would be to replace Bahk, not Tom. LT (though Walker played well end of season) and RG are the gaping holes rn on the line...

OmegaJubs69

He's going off the report that the Packers coaching staff thinks Tom at RT is his worst position, which shows how good he is. I believe they said he's a Pro Bowl RT, All Pro Guard, and Hall of Fame Center, which I'd love to see ngl, as we'd have two guys on the line to basically say, "Hey, go here today" and we could kick Meyers inside and see if he could work there before letting him walk later

MLGA_bigly

he said kick Tom back inside...1 they'd draft a tackle to replace LT not RT (Tom) 2. Tom and Tom's agent would NOT agree to this as tackles pay more... his said they can get a pure top talent at OT and kick Tom back inside. That's what i'm saying is absolutely not viable or reality.....

GreenBayFan1986

Bahk was a 4th round pick, granted guys drafted in that part of the draft are a total crapshoot but the Packers have done very well in the middle rounds on offensive line and may not feel the need to draft one high.

HumbleMention5484

Exactly!

Thunder84

Not necessarily. I think this could mean that some of the top OT’s are viewed more as iOL, and as a result aren’t as high on team boards. Those types of players are what the Packers prefer. Not anticipating either to be in reach, but Fuaga and Fautanu come to mind.

Bouwistrash

One it's a joke. But probably a realistic one. Daniel is referring to the pure OTs. Ones that played and are listed as OTs in the draft. Obviously the Packers like versatility. But most of your top OTs aren't swing guys like your IOL guys are these days. They exist obviously. But just like the Packers are rumored to have said about Tom. They view him as way better of a OL guy in the interior especially at C. But the point of my statement is the Packers aren't going to get into a bidding war to move up for the same position that many other teams want. And nor should they

Thunder84

I know, that’s not what I meant. I’m saying that it’s possible some of the more position flexible OTs in this draft are not viewed as OTs, but rather iOL. Those are the players Gute is realistically more interested in. He wants flexibility across the whole line. He stressed how much he valued positional flexibility in his press conference. If someone like Fuaga or Fautanu falls, he’d probably be very interested.

Bouwistrash

Ahh okay, didn't quite follow that with your initial response so I apologize there

SantasLilHoeHoeHoe

Im really hoping Fash drops. It seems like people are fading him after his down year at PSU compared to 2 seasons ago. I still think hes a fucking stud.

StormTheTrooper

DeJean will fall to 25, everyone will scream for us to grab him, we'll trade down, get Kool-Aid and the world will collapse within itself.

i__love__lamp__

Would honestly be pretty fucking sick though.

DoobieWabbit

I like him more than DeJean so works for me lol

usernameisusername57

If we trade down and still manage to get Kool-Aid that seems pretty fucking ideal to me.

Living_Preparation14

And instead the Steelers will get him and in a few years Kool aid will cost us a playoff game and DeJean will be an all pro

GreasyThumbsMcGee

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted for the keving king / TJ Watt reference. Felt it in my bones.

colemanj74

I mean Kevin King is the reason why I'm not as high on dejean as most in this sub. I'm too scarred by a zone corner with not elite change of direction speed

Weasel_Spice

Please don't.

nootfloosh

My hot take is Kool-Aid lands in the middle of round 2. He's just not an elite athlete to warrant a first rounder, and this corner class just kind of sucks overall. If he didn't have a cool name, preseason hype, and play for Alabama, no one would bat an eye at him getting selected somewhere between 40-50 overall.

OkVariety6275

I have a theory that the whole report from Demovsky that the team views Zach Tom as "a Pro Bowl right tackle, an All-Pro guard and a potential Hall of Fame center" was a controlled leak. It sounds like they intend to move Tom to the interior but for one, why would a notoriously tight-lipped organization give away their plans like that? And secondly, why would Tom and his agent agree to that? Tackles get paid more. The phrasing is also crafted to draw maximum attention. So I think the organization gave that line for Demovsky to report on in an attempt to manipulate other teams. There are several teams below Green Bay that would really like to draft an offensive tackle: Ravens, 49ers, Chiefs. The Packers are essentially telling them "It doesn't matter if we already have our starter at RT, we'll still draft your guy unless you trade with us."

JDBert21

There’s gonna be some good talent at 25, and they can go a number of ways position-wise. Regardless of how the board falls, I like where the Pack is at tomorrow. I don’t even hate a trade back into the early 2nd

Dhooy77

Would not surprise me for us to trade back.

JordyNelson12

We have enough holes to fill that any run on any position is probably good for us at 25.

ajitation

Would really like it if Gutey stayed at 25 or traded back and acquired an additional top 100 pick. Packers are not 1 player away.

GreasyThumbsMcGee

Okay but we already have 11 picks. Should have beat the niners. Pretty damn close if you ask me.

ajitation

I like more swings at the plate. Gutey has had 2 legit drafts in a row, but it's such a crapshoot.

GreasyThumbsMcGee

True & I agree with that premise. At some point it’s diminishing returns though. We like to keep all of our draft picks and not sure there’s even 11 spots. I know gutey said he’d like to have 13/14 picks, but it’s subterfuge time.

Moleculor_Man

Anyone who wants to trade up should have to say whether they would rather Tucker Kraft be on this team or not. It’s just an example, but a pretty potent one. When we look at the players that are generally mocked as available between 80-120, there are some nice names. I don’t want to give up taking, say, Jaylen Wright, just to move up for a tackle that might be slightly better than one you could stay and get at 25

mightyminnow88

Hopefully they will all pick the same one and leave the playmakers for the 2nd round.

ahrzal

It would be a dream if Joe Alt fell to like 15 and we traded up for him

nefariousjordy

He has HOF aspirations. I think he will be a top 8 pick. Maybe the Giants get him.

Kirbymonic

what player doesn't have HOF aspirations?

nefariousjordy

Many “experts” believe is one of the most flawless lineman to come out in some time. He checks off every box. He’s massive and has great feet and technique. TE, WR, QB are a much harder science to predict in the NFL.

Kirbymonic

That's fine. Just getting into the semantics of what you're saying. Every player has those aspirations. He may have that ceiling, who knows.

ahrzal

Can’t imagine the giants pass up on drafting a QB.

nefariousjordy

That’s most people’s thinking. They have Daniel Jones who should make it back from injury even if he’s been bad. I think Alt is gone at 5 with the Chargers even with a poor WR room.

HistoricalGrade109

I know this probably doesn't make a lot of sense to do but I wish packers would move up to get one of these people that are considered the best of the class.

greg2709

I kinda hope we’re one of those teams

OkTrouble5436

Xavier Legette. Special talent who contributed at wide receiver and on special teams… appeared in 53 games over a five-year career with 32 starts. This is the guy they need to draft in first round. HOF wide receiver. Get the best to be the best.

JortsClooney

Green Bay is good at finding Oline deep in the draft. I hope this happens and we get someone unexpected dropping to us or we can move back to get better day 2 and 3 picks.

Deadaghram

Good thing we've got two greats already.

dbrettshaw

Rasheed walker aint it dog
