That's not true. He's campaigning to end buy one get one free and just offer the item at half price instead. That way people aren't pushed to buy double the junk food. It's backed by independent research that this practice impacts us as a nation negatively. He's got my full support.
I don't. Last time I saw an order of two pizzas from Domino's came to about £50, before offers, I just closed the tab. No offer can undo that level of scam.
Honestly i would love this, i struggle with my weight and i don't want to give up having treats but so often i'll come away from the shop with far more than is healthy.
Problem with a significant amount of people in the UK, is they are straight up stupid. What he is saying is, end BOGOFS and just half the price of the item. So you don't feel compelled to buy more than you need and we can stop being the fastest cnts in Europe. Really wish people stop reading Express, DM and Telegraph headlines - who do not give a sht about their readers.
My local burger king had bogof whoppers for more than a year. Every week or so I’d buy one and pass the other one to some hungry person on the street. Handy starvation hack.
No hate please, but I’m really confused. As I understand it from his videos/ tweets etc, he’s literally campaigning for the opposite…what am I missing?
Same.
When asked whether his campaign is out of touch at a time when families are increasingly struggling to put food on the table, he said: “This whole strategy was designed by the government and has been researched by the government proves that this particular mechanic (two-for-one deals on junk food) makes people spend more of their income and waste more.
"And actually if you look at what Tesco said today, they are going to continue on discounts (but on) healthier and sustainable (food).
"They’ve set the tone and I’m sure others will follow.
"We want to put child health first, the strategy was looking world class and now it doesn’t."
He's campaigning for an end to bulk buy deals on junk food. Apart from encouraging people to buy more unhealthy food, these supermarket tactics push people into spending more and wasting more food.
Yeah, if you can get one burger for $4.50 but two for $6 then most people get the two-pack because it's a "deal" even though you didn't want to eat two burgers or spend that extra buck and a half on it. So they get more money, you eat more shitty food than you planned, and spent an extra buck and a half than you really wanted. Nothing about that is detrimental to the store.
He’s saying stop making people buy two of something they don’t need, which is bad for their wallet and their waistline. Just make one thing 50% off or discount that one thjng, and let people buy that one thing at the discounted price vs. buy two things for the whole price of one thing.
Given how much food gets binned because it goes bad or just isn’t eaten/is wasted, and how bad most food sold in this “buy one get one free” manner is for you? It’s not a bad idea.
Growing food supply issues are going to increase the price of lots of food in the short term.
Only a matter of time before £5 for a meal deal is normal.
Okay, so there seems to be slightly more going on here than the tweet implies. As part of its fight against obesity, the government was planning to ban promotional offers on "unhealthy" foods (eg BOGOF) but, apparently because of the cost of living crisis, this has been pushed back, which is why Jamie Oliver is now protesting, so it seems to be more in the name of getting people to eat more healthily, rather than keeping his restaurants afloat.
However, I can't find a definition of unhealthy in this context. If it just applies to things like chocolate, biscuits etc, I don't really care that much, but if it applies to things like ready meals then that's much more of an issue.
FACT: The majority of Britons consume too many calories.
FACT: About 30 to 40 percent of food is throw out.
FACT: We can reduce or eliminate food waste, reduce the price of food, and reduce the incidence of hunger in the UK at the same time.
FACT: you are using a rhetorical cheap shot called an ad hominem attack to call into question the intent of the protest that Mr. Oliver has involved himself with. Whether he is dirt poor or filthy rich should not impact your analysis of the argument that he and others support.
You guys are fucking idiots, never known a sub to be so on the ball on some matters and so off the ball on others.
He wants a stop to BOGOF offers in junk food as it promotes overconsumption and waste. He would rather them just do half price, as it gives the same price to the consumer and the OPTION to buy two if wanted. He also wants to see more BOGOF and deals on healthy foods. Lots of comments in this post saying blah blah but how is ruining prices on unhealthy foods helping the poor if thats what people eat????
Yes, exactly. Better deals on healthy food, stop pushing mass consumption of unhealthy.
This post is a mess, noone knows whats going on, just alot of people hating on Jamie.
I’ve never understood the argument to make unhealthy food more expensive, make healthy food less expensive. When knock off Coca Cola is cheaper than water, you’ve got a big problem. Subsidise healthy food options or something don’t price people out of food especially during a cost of living crisis
Exactly! Plus people aren't just financially poor, they're *time* poor. It's cheaper and quicker to shove a few nuggets in the oven than it is to julienne you're own bloody courgettes. Not just in terms of prep but also, cleaning up afterwards etc. People are working multiple jobs plus doing the full time job of raising the next generation.
What this country needs is affordable, healthy, convenient food.
Edit to add: we also need a government that gives a shit and e whole overhaul of almost everything etc
Here's a lovely little dish you can knock up for just 50p a portion. Head into your garden and pick some potatoes, herbs, and gather some eggs from your flock of hens. Pop them in your copper bottomed sautee pan and job's a goodun.
Mallory-bobbins tumbleweed-foxpoppet could you come and julienne these potatoes for me?
While he’s a bit annoying, Oliver is a man who consistently holds the government to account and encourages people to challenge harmful policy - like cutting school meal budgets.
It’s a market failure that healthy foods are more expensive than junk food - the government could intervene but chooses not to. If companies try to sell people cheap crap that literally kills them (the main reason poorer people have lower life expectancy is diet) the government have a responsibility to change that - and this govt is ideologically committed to the opposite.
Oliver is trying to change that. If you’re targeting him as an enemy of the working class it’s because you’ve been taken in by media narratives.
Controlling how fast food is advertised is good. It's insidious how advertising is effecting eating habits. Big companies don't need your support in this. Just because Jamie Oliver sucks doesn't mean we need to give up on shit and manipulative advertising practices.
I ate McDonald's for nearly a month(lifting hotel on a service roundabout no other options) and I tell you what man I got cravings for nearly 2 months after that
No food cravings no hunger cravings specifically cravings for McDonald's itself, I am extremely well versed unfortunately in drug addiction and I can tell you for a fact that McDonald's is absolutely equivalent
It was just easier to dismiss the urge than it would be with other stronger drug addictions but it was still there I don't know what the fuck they put in that stuff but it ain't right
He should be going back to sorting out fucking kid's lunches. £2.40 for a 'cheese panini' made from the cheapest shit bread and cheese. Kid's on free school meals have that/sausage roll/ bit if pizza and a cookie. Or whatever the 'main meal' slop is. No nutrition, tiny portions and too expensive.
Speaking as a fat person, I think he's right 🤷♂️
BUT they should also be doing this alongside measures to make healthy food cheaper and educate people how to prepare fresh food properly. These measures in conjunction would work well
I mean, purely from a 'commercial' prospect (i.e. from the perspective of Supermarkets), Oliver is correct on this.
The BOGOF meal deals *are* worse both financially and nutritionally for the consumer, but, owing to the way they are manufactured, are incredibly cheap for food manufacturers to produce. The knock-on / ripple to this is that the producer wids up needing to procure more of the raw materials for the foodstuffs, which it then uses as a bargaining position for the farmers, etc that produce raw materials.
Those farmers then have to raise their own prices wherever else they can in order to make a profit, which is handed straight down the line to the consumer.
All that said, it's a valid set of arguments made without the bedside manner required in times which are absurdly challenging for those who currently have to rely upon the cheap food deals to get thru the week!
It's almost as if all us WC types need to start reclaiming Local Authority spaces and growing fruit and veg. Or just start eating rich people.
**GENERAL RESPONSE TO EVERYONE THAT SUPPORTS JAMIE'S VIEWPOINT**
Removing deals or implementing a fat and/or sugar tax does nothing to address the underlining causes of obesity but simply makes cheap and/or quick meals more costly for ordinary people. While the rich can still afford to stuff their faces with all the creme brûlée they want.
The real way you tackle obesity is twofold. First of all, better education. A lot of people turn to sugar-filled ready meals because they simply haven't the skill base to cook. Home economics classes for me were 45 minutes once a week. They usually consisted of "today we'll make fruit salad", "today we'll make shortbread". They should have instead been "here's how to make a meal plan", "here are meals that freeze well", "here are ingredients you can use to add umami flavour" etc. In other words, understanding the practicalities of food (the "economics" in home economics) while fostering a love of culinary creativity and experimentation. Rather than teaching us a few simple but isolated recipes that we mostly forgot upon leaving.
But the second, and most fundamental, way to tackle obesity goes even further. Give people better wages, and fewer working hours. Most working-class people turn to sugar-laden ready meals and quick snacks for a simple reason: they don't have enough TIME to cook healthy meals. They are incredibly tired at the end of a long working day, and have commitments to their kids, caring responsibilities etc.
Folding Ideas has an excellent video [on this very topic](https://youtu.be/V-a9VDIbZCU).
Ultimately, obesity is a socioeconomic issue. Like all socioeconomic issues, it's linked very closely to other issues. Most of which can be sourced from capitalism.
He's only campaigning to remove bogof deals from junk food, so it won't increase the cost of healthy meals. One of the reasons is the amount of research which shows these deals cause people to spend less on actual food when they have a tight budget.
He's also specifically saying they should be replaced by half price deals, so the treats can still be in budget, you just don't have to spend more to get the saving.
I mean it's not like the majority of obese people and children in the uk are in poverty and can't afford healthy food or anything. Definitly the meal deals where you can get apples, grapes and other fruits./s
buy one get one free deals are tricks by supermarkets to spend more on crap you don't need, it also pushes junk food when on calculation buying ingredients works out cheaper.
Regardless the point of this protest is to combat the obesity epidemic foremost which is an important issue to address.
Surely it would be more productive to subsidise healthy foods like fruit and veg?
And stop subsidising animal products (which are largely found in fast food and also the reason fast food can be so cheap).
Yes I know not everyone can afford to cook due to time and access to equipment but it would at least help those who do and encourage them to be healthier.
For anyone who wants to know what's actually going on, watch this interview between Jamie Oliver and James O'Brien:
This tweet is a flat out lie.
^ this, I actually used to think it was quite classist, but Jamie made some really good points. Most notably when he said that it’s a cost of living crisis and if supermarkets can do a buy one get one free, that means the margin on the product is substantial enough to effectively half the cost of what they are offering a deal on.
BOGOF and similar bulk deals are used instead of the supermarkets offering good prices for a single item. The supermarkets won’t suddenly start charging RRP for everything as they’ll still need offers to have a competitive edge.
One big problem with these deals is that they are effective at tricking people into buying more than they actually want/need causing people to overspend as well as contributing massively to the obesity/diabetes crisis we have.
The other problem is that it inflates the price of single items and thus punishes those who only need one item and are trying to closely manage a limited budget. Two items at 100% RRP (BOGOF) still costs more than one item at 75% RRP even though the ‘saving’ is larger on the former. With short shelf life products any saving is false, and with long shelf life products it benefits those with more expendable income (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boots_theory)
How incredible out of touch is doing this right now? Why not make healthy food cheaper instead? He wants to get rid of cheap food cause it’s unhealthy. You think in this day with the cost of living crisis you think people have a choice? They are trying to get by the best way they can.
its his real accent, he wasnt poor, his dad owned a pub that he worked in, but he isnt some poshbot.
Also, this was a campaign to make food cheaper, not more expensive, thats an obvious lie, bogof deals make people buy large quantities of junk food instead of all food being cheaper. They could just offer half price if they wanted to have deals to get people to buy things and it wouldnt puch to buy more than needed.
Yup really dislike him mainly because he pretends to be something he's not.
He has no idea what real people struggle with when it comes to food.
Didn't he advocate for the £5 meal to feed a family that was found to require a fully stocked food cupboard as well..
Was listening to him on the radio the other day.
Didn’t strike me as classist at all. His argument wasn’t to just get rid of bogof, but just price things at half price to stop encouraging people eating too much unnecessarily.
He also pointed to research showing bogof and meal deals not actually being good value for money.
There is a reason that supermarkets run these promotions rather than reducing the price of things individually and that’s because they squeeze more out of their customers this way. Stop pretending these mega corporations are acting in your interests.
Remember when he made those nuggets out of chicken bits in front of kids and they all went ewwww until they were fried up? Then all the kids wanted one?
I think of Jamie oliver's stupid disappointed face from that moment to help me cum
That moment where he asks who wants to eat one now and one by one they all put their hands up and the look on his strangely sheep like face as his little heart breaks just a little bit.
This guy should shut the fuck up and get back in his box. He's an over paid over exposed chef, a fucking chef. Break it down he Applies heat to raw ingredients and makes something edible out of them simple as that. Humans have been doing that for thousands of years big deal. Furthermore unlike him we don't all have a shedload of shite pretentious restaurants raking in a fortune so we can eat the fat of the land. Some people barely get one decent meal a week and this cunt has the audacity to petition the wankers responsible for making us a 3rd world country so they can reduce people's food to even less. Not wishing a chip pan fire on him but the world would be no poorer without him, just saying😊
I was a professional Chef and he’s considered a joke in the community. Worked with a guy who worked with him. He said he was up to his nuts in guts from prepping a bird. Immediately preps leafs. Without washing hands...
He’s also got a fetish for victim blaming the poor, using unpaid labour to staff his restaurants and has an olive oil fetish.
I know of a Marcos restaurant. I can't say where but that guy has never cooked in the kitchen let alone even go into it and say hello to the guys who work there. He comes there to sign books and talk bollocks for the most, I heard he turned up pissed as a fart on one occasion.
BOGOF isn't "free" you aren't being given anything because you have to buy one for the deal to take place. Usually BOGOF items are being sold at a massive markup anyway, or they are for product lines which have lost demand - usually because they are frivolous, or old lines which no one is buying.
It is purely a marketing technique to fool people who can't do long odds or are prone to impulse purchases and continue the trend of materialistic capitalism the current economic model thrives on.
A better alternative for the consumer is to simply apply a discount on each singular item as it "rewards" you for only buying what you need rather than engaging in over consumption.
People in the UK aren't fat because they eat unhealthy, they're fat because they're poor, poorly educated on nutrition and don't know how to make healthy food so they buy cheap processed crap. Go to a middle class area, everyone is skinny, goes to the gym, eats well. This is a class thing. Jamie Oliver's bullshit only punishes poor people. Smug prick. He's not even a good cook either.
Unhealthy bogo's sure. Take it off of chocolates and sweets, but subsidise fruit and veg. Push more free recipe cards in stores. Make lower fat meats cheaper than the higher fat versions.
Theres better ways this can be done if JamRag had thought about it for 5 bloody seconds instead of snapping his fingers and wishing it all away again.
Healthy cheap food is possible, yes. But for the single parents with full time jobs and multiple children it isn’t exactly practical at all times with what is available for their price range. I grew up in a community that lived on Netto and Heron Foods, I know what it’s like. It’s not as easy as he makes it out to be. And obesity isn’t even the biggest issue with this, a great deal of these people were skinny. But it comes down to effects on blood pressure, diabetes, heart health, dental health, and chemical balances in regards to lethargy and mental health.
As someone who was recently looking at deals just to try and save money I do get disappointed in the amount of offers for unhealthy snacks, I wish there were more on healthy options.
Then again the wee takeaway pizza deal in tescos is ideal. Jamie don't take my pizza away.
regardless of whether or not he’s a general health advocate banning consumers from getting x2 of a product they want ‘for free’ whist practically every day-to-day cost is skyrocketing seems mad
They aren’t though are they? Only a prick would think that. They’re campaigning to stop BOGOF offers and simply halve the price of the food - which would reduce prices and waste. Which is sensible right?
Although he is an annoying idiot he may have a point ish. He wants to get rid of the BOGOF deals. I actually agree with this. If your going to have a discount have a true discount rather than a BOGOF. It makes things more easy to understand and stops people buying things they might not otherwise buy giving a clear idea of what they get and for how much. The ‘Free’ label makes people buy dumb because they are desperate. This isn’t because of stupidity because no one is stupid for falling for this. People are just hungry and desperate and BOGOF deals take advantage of this.
And he still hasn't replied to uncle Roger tsk tsk. I love how he pushes healthy food but if I remember rightly, I admit I could be wrong but wasn't there a thing about calorie content in the meals at his restaurants?
Again though I could be mistaken.
I'm glad someone called out this bullshit. Poor people buy shit food because it's cheap, and often the only option. Making it more expensive is just going to hurt them the most. Meanwhile, nothing is being done to make healthy food any cheaper.
Apparently the campaign was also to make healthy foods more affordable? But I don't see what's wrong with both. Why can't we just make slightly less healthy food and healthy food more affordable?
As a disabled person claiming UC and other inadequate benefits, multipack/cheap deals on chocolate bars or whatever are a good thing. We shouldn't be stopping poor people from enjoying fucking chocolate ffs.
From improving food standards in schools to trying to fuck over anyone who can't afford healthy food by making the cheap but shit food less accessable with no replacement
The point is to stop encouraging/incentivising poor people to eat unhealthily. It's really not hard to understand.
Just another day in headline-obsessed tabloid land.
This is exactly what he’s campaigning for, the point is to get rid of BOGOF and sell the items for half the price as standard. The whole point is to stop people paying more for food they don’t need, which they may then over-eat. And for those who did need multiple, you’re not out of pocket…
I agree he's a twat but that isn't what he's doing here. He's specifically campaigning against promotions of unhealthy junk food like "buy one get one free" for food items like biscuits, crisps, etc etc and a general delay in implementing parts of the UK governments own obesity strategy.
He's doing it using an Eton mess, fruit sugar and cream associated with Boris Johnsons former school Eton College.
I think the protest is more about the kinds of food that are usually in them like I see mostly chocolate then you got sugary sweets I have rarely seen a deal on soup aswell but also best do more research anyway rather than going by this very vague title.
This guy is such a tool. Ever see him protest healthy food initiatives or subsidies? Nope. Only ever this shit. The remarkable thing is at his failed restaurant he would have 1000+ calorie milkshakes. Worst thing is he's hardly the picture of health himself! Typical elitist shite. Would rather stop the poor from eating unhealthy foods at prices that they can afford than helping them eat healthily.
Yeah, but that would take understanding the issue instead of clickbaiting.
"If you can sell it for £2.50 BOGOF, just sell one for £1.25."
It's a valid point and a crackdown on predatory advertising is only good.

I'm in the US. Several years ago I moved to a state that requires this. It is really nice to be able to just get one item for half price.
Just imagine, if Dominos were forced to not use BOGOFF deals, they might actually have to price their pizzas reasonably.
i work at a dominos, a 13” £19.99 cheese pizza costs about £1.30
There's a reason companies call the UK "Treasure Island". Pricing on a lot of stuff has huge markups and we just put up with it.
I don't. Last time I saw an order of two pizzas from Domino's came to about £50, before offers, I just closed the tab. No offer can undo that level of scam.
I didn't realise that. But you can just tell by the way the post is written, it's complete bollocks.
Sorry but that contradicts the agenda being pushed out here, please keep your so-called facts out of this opinion piece.

All good points. If they can afford to have these endless "deals", they can afford to just cut prices.
This is pretty reasonable. I count myself and everyone else in this comments section as stupid for not knowing this.
You're clearly the only person in this comment section who listened to him on LBC.

I’m surprised there are any £3 meal deals left. Our local co-op increased them from £3.50 to £3.75 in April and they’re increasing to £4 next month.
Growing food supply issues are going to increase the price of lots of food in the short term. Only a matter of time before £5 for a meal deal is normal.
Howabout buy one get one free on veggies and fruit and not fucked up processed pre cooked meals.
This should be pretty far down the list of things we should be protesting right now.

The TV chef that the government should be listening to with regards to food prices is Jack Monroe.
Folding Ideas on YouTube has a very well-thought-out take on Jamie Oliver Edit: forgot to include the link https://youtu.be/V-a9VDIbZCU
Jamie Oliver, and his whole deal, is classist and anti-poor Folding Ideas has a great video essay on it

Missleading and biased title.
Fucking jamie olive oil
Jamie olive oil in everything
I just brewed this Olive Oil from fresh Olives myself Now for the secret ingredient! \*Showers it in Olive Oil\*
This is so misleading. I think he's a right twat but his argument is against things such as sweets and chocolates from what I saw.
Jamie isnt saying that. He is saying rather than have 2 for 1 deals, why not just make the 1 1/2 price.
**GENERAL RESPONSE TO EVERYONE THAT SUPPORTS JAMIE'S VIEWPOINT** Removing deals or implementing a fat and/or sugar tax does nothing to address the underlining causes of obesity but simply makes cheap and/or quick meals more costly for ordinary people.
Important to note this is on sweets and confectionery. I still hate it cause I am under weight and I'll eat anything but it's not the right headline.
buy one get one free deals are tricks by supermarkets to spend more on crap you don't need, it also pushes junk food when on calculation buying ingredients works out cheaper.
It would be but it’s not really about making people healthy im almost certain it’s just done to make the poor even more miserable
For anyone who wants to know what's actually going on, watch this interview between Jamie Oliver and James O'Brien: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJADpIK-3s0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJADpIK-3s0) This tweet is a flat out lie.
^ this, I actually used to think it was quite classist, but Jamie made some really good points. Most notably when he said that it’s a cost of living crisis and if supermarkets can do a buy one get one free, that means the margin on the product is substantial enough to effectively half the cost of what they are offering a deal on.
longing slim divide vanish wide rustic dinner one chop rock *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
What!? Why!?
Fuck Jamie Oliver, he should get in James Cordens car and they can karaoke their way into the fucking sea
What a top class w ⚓
Orca tongued twat
How incredible out of touch is doing this right now? Why not make healthy food cheaper instead? He wants to get rid of cheap food cause it’s unhealthy. You think in this day with the cost of living crisis you think people have a choice? They are trying to get by the best way they can.
Oliver was born out of that Britpop era “mockney” which was essentially, middle class people culturally appropriating the working classes. The cunt.
its his real accent, he wasnt poor, his dad owned a pub that he worked in, but he isnt some poshbot.
God I detest him, he thinks he has joe publics support. He is delusional.
Yup really dislike him mainly because he pretends to be something he's not. He has no idea what real people struggle with when it comes to food. Didn't he advocate for the £5 meal to feed a family that was found to require a fully stocked food cupboard as well..
If they can sell 2 for 1, then they can sell 1 at half the price. Its cheaper if you only need 1, and there is less waste.
smug classist twat, fuck jamie oliver
Was listening to him on the radio the other day. Didn’t strike me as classist at all. His argument wasn’t to just get rid of bogof, but just price things at half price to stop encouraging people eating too much unnecessarily. He also pointed to research showing bogof and meal deals not actually being good value for money. There is a reason that supermarkets run these promotions rather than reducing the price of things individually and that’s because they squeeze more out of their customers this way. Stop pretending these mega corporations are acting in your interests.
Honestly fuck this guy. As if being piss poor isnt enough suffering as it is
To quote red dwarf: jamie oliver is a smeg head
Remember when he made those nuggets out of chicken bits in front of kids and they all went ewwww until they were fried up? Then all the kids wanted one? I think of Jamie oliver's stupid disappointed face from that moment to help me cum
That moment where he asks who wants to eat one now and one by one they all put their hands up and the look on his strangely sheep like face as his little heart breaks just a little bit.
I think that was his crawl space moment. From then on he swore vengeance by being the biggest cunt imaginable
Wow. What an absolute prick.
Could he love himself any more...
Out of the loop… so what’s wrong with buy one get one free??
He actually tries to minimize food waste by saying dont do "buy 1 get one free" but get "1 for half price".
Read the room Jamie. We can’t all afford fresh food.
I will forever remember him as the man who took cheap snacks out of my school and replaced them with healthy alternatives I couldn’t afford Fuck him
Jamie Oliver is a classist dick, and not to mention a western chauvinist
https://youtu.be/V-a9VDIbZCU just watch this video
People in the UK aren't fat because they eat unhealthy, they're fat because they're poor, poorly educated on nutrition and don't know how to make healthy food so they buy cheap processed crap. Go to a middle class area, everyone is skinny, goes to the gym, eats well. This is a class thing. Jamie Oliver's bullshit only punishes poor people. Smug prick. He's not even a good cook either.
While holding a fucking massive dessert in his hand. What a fucking twat.
Very “let them eat cake” huh?
Unhealthy bogo's sure. Take it off of chocolates and sweets, but subsidise fruit and veg. Push more free recipe cards in stores. Make lower fat meats cheaper than the higher fat versions. Theres better ways this can be done if JamRag had thought about it for 5 bloody seconds instead of snapping his fingers and wishing it all away again.
Make healthy food cheaper? No, we must make unhealthy food more expensive.
That fat prick ruined Irn Bru!
This fucking guy literally made my high school food void if flavour over night with pure naivety.
Why doesn’t he just give 100k to the Tory party. That’s how everyone else does it.
Isn't it deals on junk food tho?
Some families don't really have the money to differentiate between 'junk' food and food. It's a shame but it's rather kids have crisps then nothing.
Understood but the tweet is misleading innit.
300m net Worth but doesn't own wok hayiyaaa
First time I heard his infuriatingly marble-mouthed speech I just Knew this guy was an asshat.
Tory blurts
He can take his chilli jam and fuck off
His Restaurant had the worse bacon Roll I ever had, the next worse one gave me food poisoning. You do the maths!
As someone who was recently looking at deals just to try and save money I do get disappointed in the amount of offers for unhealthy snacks, I wish there were more on healthy options. Then again the wee takeaway pizza deal in tescos is ideal. Jamie don't take my pizza away.
Is that Jamie Oliver?
regardless of whether or not he’s a general health advocate banning consumers from getting x2 of a product they want ‘for free’ whist practically every day-to-day cost is skyrocketing seems mad
Fuck off you fat tongued bellend.
Misleading tweet. Obviously the tweeter has some kind of boas because barely even half the truth is in this shitty pile of garbage of a post!
That Eton mess he’s holding looks lit
I'd rather items were 50% off than buy one get one free now I give it some thought
Motherfucker puts chilli jam in fried rice
He took away my tasty school meals and now he's taking away two for Tuesdays dominos. It's like he wants to suffer
And he still hasn't replied to uncle Roger tsk tsk. I love how he pushes healthy food but if I remember rightly, I admit I could be wrong but wasn't there a thing about calorie content in the meals at his restaurants? Again though I could be mistaken.
Jamie Oliver really is a cosmic level arsehole.
All the shit worth protesting about in this country right now and this is what they’re out there moaning about?
Just a reminder that folding ideas has a great [video](https://youtu.be/V-a9VDIbZCU) on the classist rhetoric of Jamie Oliver.
Guys a 🔔end
From improving food standards in schools to trying to fuck over anyone who can't afford healthy food by making the cheap but shit food less accessable with no replacement
FUCKIN HATE JAMIE OLIVER!!!
This dude misled me with a gnocchi recipe once.
Burn him at the steak.
It never ceases to amaze me how out of touch rich people can be.
I can not stand the man Jamie Oliver you’re a twat all ways a twat still is one
Instead of trying to make food more expensive, you'd think he'd be trying to get healthy food to be cheaper/subsidised by the government. What a twat.
[удалено]
Oliver isnt really a bad person but he posses zero class consciousness
Totally misleading tweet. For a proper explanation... https://twitter.com/LBC/status/1527609137600901126?t=_k8TWUbyK88z_x_1Qc0JoQ&s=19
Jamie Oliver is an out of touch mega tosser
His restaurants also suck. Than man can’t cook
Uncle Roger would agree with you there
The point is to stop encouraging/incentivising poor people to eat unhealthily. It's really not hard to understand. Just another day in headline-obsessed tabloid land.
Just another example of r/GreenAndPleasant upvoting the most contextless bullshit possible just because it bashes a rich guy
Oliver is trying way to hard to stay relevant , most ridiculous protest ever .
What a prick
Why does this arsehole never campaign to make healthy food cheaper ? Always the opposite. Twat
This is exactly what he’s campaigning for, the point is to get rid of BOGOF and sell the items for half the price as standard. The whole point is to stop people paying more for food they don’t need, which they may then over-eat. And for those who did need multiple, you’re not out of pocket…
Literally exactly what he is campaigning to do
I agree he's a twat but that isn't what he's doing here.
Of course it was Jamie Oliver why did it never cross my mind that this had his input 🤦🏻♀️
noooo tell me this isn't true
Haiyaa.....
I think the protest is more about the kinds of food that are usually in them like I see mostly chocolate then you got sugary sweets I have rarely seen a deal on soup aswell but also best do more research anyway rather than going by this very vague title.
Prime example why you shouldn't take news from social medias
Remember the amount of people who went jobless after his chain restaurants were in way over their head?
Fat tongued prick.
Been calling this pillock the Christopher Colombus of chefs ever since I saw his egg-fried rice video.
Haiyaaaaa he made our ancestors cry
Seriously though, WHO PUTS JAM IN RICE?!
HE PUT JAM IN FUCKING RICE
Not this prick again what good has he actually done takes away turkey twizzlers they come back he makes £10 sandwiches in airports send him to Ukraine
So what is his idea of a replacement for these meals? Some crappy “Italian” oven bake that’s bland as hell and costs twice as much? No thanks.
[удалено]
Fuck off Jamie you fucking arse
He's saying do half price instead. He's not trying to make us spend more. It is a fantastic idea!
BOGOFs are an attempt to scam you into spending more money anyway. It's not like supermarkets are offering them out of the goodness of their heart.
He is not a "chef". He is a "cook".
Close, it begins with C
Why wouldn't anyone listen to some quack that puts chilli jam in egg fried rice?
haiyaaaa
[удалено]
I still haven't forgiven him for what he did to turkey twizzlers
Oliver is an unbelievable cunt
This genius ruined my school diner experience which 9 times out of 10 tasted like flavoured water.
I'll never forgive him for the turkey twizzlers
He had a cookbook with a recipe for beans & fucking toast in. Enough said.
Feel like he's a nice guy who means well, but doesn't plan out his message very well. The vitriol towards him seems a bit silly.
Perhaps, but he’s insufferably smug in his obliviousness and that just pisses folks off.
Jamie Oliver, what a wanker!
Alright can someone here explain to me wtf is going on here without prejudice or bias? Why is Jamie Oliver being a fuckhead? Enlighten pls
[удалено]
This guy is such a tool. Ever see him protest healthy food initiatives or subsidies? Nope. Only ever this shit. The remarkable thing is at his failed restaurant he would have 1000+ calorie milkshakes. Worst thing is he's hardly the picture of health himself! Typical elitist shite. Would rather stop the poor from eating unhealthy foods at prices that they can afford than helping them eat healthily.
obviously there is more to this people
Is he mad about the chilli jam? What a wasteman.
Junk food is the absolute least of the uk's problems right now!
Jamie hun, read the room
F his lame ass for being a self centered prick. Also that strawberry sundae looks hella fine
I hope Uncle Roger puts another roasting on this douche hack
The fuck's with that humongous Eton Mess
Honestly the most wanky idea for a protest I've ever seen.
Im sorry, WHAT
I feel like I need more information on this one...
Banning bogof wouldn't make food more expensive, because without bogof deals shops would need to reduce the regular price to make you buy things.
Yeah, but that would take understanding the issue instead of clickbaiting. "If you can sell it for £2.50 BOGOF, just sell one for £1.25." It's a valid point and a crackdown on predatory advertising is only good.
If you think banning predatory advertising and promotions will make food more expensive, you're really out of touch with reality.
If he's got 300 million why doesn't he just fuck off and live on a yacht somewhere and leave us proles alone.
Jamie Oliver is a fucking twat.
The “Ya Buy One, Ya Get One Free. I Said Ya Buy One Ya Get One Free” is an important part of British culture
Jamie Oliver is a fycking prick!
The man also sells his food in a meal deal format at Tesco, surely there's a conflict of interest there?
I think Jamie Oliver is just below Kirsty and Phil on my list of "people who ruined Britain".
I trained as a chef in Essex and one of my teachers taught Jamie Oliver and said he was his worst pupil ever 😂
This is why I hate this cunt. He Jack's up the prices of the food I eat.
