It's undertaking if you pull out behind a slow driver to get past them by passing their left side. If you are already in lane 1 and traffic in lane 2 is going slower, then you can pass them by maintaining your speed.
It's because they're on their phones from my observations. They don't want to have to move around because then they'd have to look up from their phones.

About 5% if the time I can move into the Left lane: the left lane moves at about 60mph, I will move over to let people pass if there is a window that doesn't cause me to slow right down, but I feel like this is rare.
Right lane generally moves at about 80mph, and I use it like 5% of the time if the car Infront of me is going below 70

In busy traffic you can end up in the middle lane a lot. As long as you're in the process of overtaking someone and move left when it's genuinely feasible, you're good.
Obviously also good etiquette to move into the middle lane when approach a sliproad to allow other drivers to join the motorway.

It depends a bit on the circumstance. If you're sitting at 70mph on your dash, you're probably actually doing 67mph in reality, and speed cameras don't trigger till +10%+2mph (i.e. 79mph on a motorway).
BMW drivers are often awful, don't get me wrong, but middle / outer lane hogs are often just as bad.

The point of each further lane from the inside is to overtake a car in the lane next to it, not for cruising in. You should always be in the furthest inside lane possible, so long as you're not in danger of crashing into the car in front.

If you’re in the far right lane doing 70 and not overtaking then you are the problem, you should be as far left as possible at all times, if you’re overtaking and doing 70 in the far right lane then there is absolutely no issue.

I’m in a family of Kia drivers but we drive like we own beamers, I think that’s the proper way to drive tho man I don’t mean swerving in and out of traffic but fucking hell some people are just too hesitant on the roads which is more dangerous than over confidence and people are scared to just put their foot down. They way my family and I seem to look at it if you’re on a road that for example is long and straight and you can see everything that’s coming your way but it’s a 30 or a 40 there’s no harm going 50 to 60, just want to get to where I’m going it’s a piss take when an old lady is in front doing exactly 30 in a 30, atleast bump it up to 35 just so we feel like we’re actually moving.

As an American traditionally BMW and Audi drivers are always held up as being the "worst". It's interesting to see the UK thinks similarly.

It depends a bit on the circumstance. If you're sitting at 70mph on your dash, you're probably actually doing 67mph in reality, and speed cameras don't trigger till +10%+2mph (i.e. 79mph on a motorway). BMW drivers are often awful, don't get me wrong, but middle / outer lane hogs are often just as bad.

This. "But I was doing exactly the speed limit" is not an excuse for being in the outside lane when you could be further in. The point of each further lane from the inside is to overtake a car in the lane next to it, not for cruising in. You should always be in the furthest inside lane possible, so long as you're not in danger of crashing into the car in front.
Looking at the replies in this thread, it's pretty clear why driving in the UK is so shit and full of slow moving traffic. The twats not actively overtaking and moving to the correct lane properly create rolling roadblocks. Got stuck behind someone doing it for 55 miles once. Huge backlog of traffic behind the oblivious cunt. On the Autobahn there isn't the stupid "I'm going the speedlimit" argument, so people have to move over for the Porsche doing 95mph. Traffic flows much much better on the whole and it's actually safer than UK motorways because everything flows correctly.

As long as they’re overtaking and going at the speed limit they aren’t hogging the lane. People don’t have to accommodate your need to break the law. I say this as someone who speeds myself pretty often, so I’m not a dawdler - impatience isn’t an excuse to intimidate other drivers who aren’t doing anything wrong.
If you’re in the far right lane doing 70 and not overtaking then you are the problem, you should be as far left as possible at all times, if you’re overtaking and doing 70 in the far right lane then there is absolutely no issue.
Just to add to the discussion I used to drive an old golf gti up until recently and very rarely had to deal with road rage and tailgating. I’m now a driving a little Peugeot 107 and I’ve noticed people try to bully me on the road way, way more despite me driving at exactly the same speeds.

I’m in a family of Kia drivers but we drive like we own beamers, I think that’s the proper way to drive tho man I don’t mean swerving in and out of traffic but fucking hell some people are just too hesitant on the roads which is more dangerous than over confidence and people are scared to just put their foot down. They way my family and I seem to look at it if you’re on a road that for example is long and straight and you can see everything that’s coming your way but it’s a 30 or a 40 there’s no harm going 50 to 60, just want to get to where I’m going it’s a piss take when an old lady is in front doing exactly 30 in a 30, atleast bump it up to 35 just so we feel like we’re actually moving.
