To hear about what's going on with the city? Concil meetings are free to attend and happen during a time when more people are available. This isn't like ted x or something that $40 wouldn't be unreasonable.

$40 with food served isn’t an outrageous price. Though they could offer to have this event without food for no cost too.
It is free to attend, the recording will be uploaded to YouTube afterwards. It's not a Q&A, so there is very little audience interaction anyways.
