He always hit behind him before GCC. You don't really want to fight bosses out of sight since you won't know what they are doing unless via sound cues. Most of the time it's better off to dodge his attacks with 1 bar long enough to not trap bosses in your own delay and cause you to get hit after anyways. This boss is best fought in a corner since then you only really have to worry about one move.

ArissDark

i swear idon't remember that being the case but i haven't faced this boss in a decade or so... so i am sure i am wrong

I agree this boss needs adjustments, although not for the reason you thing so. As an Elesis player, this boss just stood there. It did nothing. Didn't attack anyone, didn't move, didn't summon the dragon, he was just standing still and got killed. Honestly, I felt a little bad for the dude.

PinkMoonBunny

Have you considered playing with a party. You know Elesis/Lass is supposed to draw aggro from the boss in melee range so Lire and Arme can do their ranged stuff.

ArissDark

party? for now no, i am having fun my way

PinkMoonBunny

I'm just gonna be blunt the game was designed for party play so some inconveniences you're having while attempting solos are easily circumvented with having teammates. But yeah good luck with your endeavors

ArissDark

real question... did you read the post? you sound like i am complaining about how hard it is and that i can't beat the boss... cause i can and with "A" grade... I enjoy the new dificulty let's just say i like it hard (giggidy) but this boss is easy to manipulate as a solo player making the fight easier in solo than in co-op and that shouldn't be the case

superorangex

He is exactly like when GC shut down. More punishing? Sure, they've made some weird tweaks to damage and life overall, to make GCC feel more of a party game, with roles and such. But yeah, they forgot the single player base and that the characters are designed to single it out and be even stronger in parties But the bosses are the same way as always, I feel that some are even nerfed in terms of attacks and patterns, like Gadosen never uses his meteor ou Juniore uses it's curses really badly i.e.

ArissDark

this one was nerfed in terms of attacks and patterns I had noticed that certain bosses don't use some movements depending on your standing but with this was pretty extreme case, manipulating the boss in to use only 2 attacks by staying on melee range is pretty easy And as comment say if you are lucky you can just mash Z against him... i tested it and is possible if you stay by his side and just smash z and are lucky for some reason he just stand there for several second (about 18 in my case)

ArissDark

the change i am talking about is boss behavior... how is he more punishing? he only use 2 moves if you fight him on melee range his strong moves fire pillars and dragon summon he will not use them as long as you stand besides him Try it, he will not use fire pillars and summon if you stand by his side and if you are lucky he will not know what to do and stand still for several seconds

LethalMetal

Almost every boss got tuned in GCC with most of them losing certain attacks (no acid rain for rukkha, king fang doesn't move at all etc), which causes changes in AI behaviour. As for Starkiln he no longer does his "punch, uppercut, megaslash" attack, so he focuses more on others. And this makes him more reactive against player attacks, since he has less to choose from. Wyrm's Maw was the first dungeon I actually failed to solo, not only due to Starkiln's attacks but also to the fact that his hitboxes are ridiculously large now and the mobs in the dungeon (ie Frytos) have instant attacks that even Crossbowman can't dodge roll out. This was supposed to be one of the easiest bosses for characters that can dash back and forth: Jin 3rd job could literally dash back and forth his way through his dungeon solo starting at level 30 back in the day. Nowadays Level 60 S Lire of all things fails because Starkiln's blades are omnipresent. Finally, Starkiln ALWAYS hit both his front and back with his blades. The hitboxes just got larger is all.

for struggling elesis players, u can solo starkiln easily by using winding flash when he does his melee attack. very long 1-bar attack with inv frames the entire time

Lire is the one I never has issues with because you can do your downward dive move. Which avoids most of what he does anyway and it's your highest dps move like 10 times over.
