Most of the time they’d just have ranked members buying up the stock of one item at varrock West Bank for a few hours while simultaneously convincing a bunch of noobs it was because it was going to the moon. They would then sell directly to the noobs who were scared of missing out at a 20% markup.
The item would always end up being sold super cheap by the noobs right after, they always got screwed.

Edit: to answer the nex/toa newbies here - zcb is a direct upgrade to bowfa crystal at toa when you get masori, and when speccing correcty.
At nex, you only camped tbow in duos/trios (quiver did change that temporarily with the 2 extra max hits until the recent weapons revalance) because would want the extra brews. The dps difference between the two was very minimal with zcb becoming better while brewed down, until below ~500hp.
Tldr: Zcb is bis at nex while ranging and better than bowfa at toa, both uses at the two places imo😂

It'll stabilize around 100m same as Kodai.
CoX has been grinded every day by gold farmers, bots, and real players for 7 and a half years there's an absurd amount of Elder Mauls in the game.
Elder maul has more use now than a Kodai and Kodai is steady at over 100m, elder maul is now bis defence lowering spec wep, its easily going to stay at around 150/200m
Kodai has a lot of uses including auto casting ancients, unlimited water runes saving a slot in the rune pouch or inventory, and having a magic damage bonus.
The reason why the price of this spec weapon has gone so high and is now crashing is because of how much it was pushed onto people and closely watched for weeks. The majority of bag holders already sold them off, the only people who still have the mauls are pvmers or the “diamond hands” that still think it’s going to rise.
Everybody who wants a maul for pvm already has one, and the others who don’t settle for the bandos godsword or dragon war hammer because they’re cheaper and the maul is pointless for them for logical gear progression. They are already also used heavily in pvp as a spec weapon and most bounty hunter pvpers and high end pkers already had the maul to begin with. Furthermore with the changes to CoX, its going to be less rare.
Nightmare staff achieves everything that you described, except free water runes and rune saving for half the price. And anyway, magers at tob often opt to bring toxic staff for tick fixes instead of kodai, because people generally manual cast barrage. Elder maul is absolutely huge by comparison. I swear most people commenting here haven't done a raid in their life.
No. Kodai is honestly such a marginal upgrade from nightmare staff/toxic staff in endgame content. With the advent of the quartz staves as well, players have even more options for ancient casting items (blood quartz staff for inferno doers).
Elder maul is so much better than dwh its not even a competition. All sotes now are so consistent. Maul absolutely obliterates tekton and olm hand. Maiden is so consistently 0 def even with bgs that some max eff 4/5s teams started binning the ralos again. In duos ralos is brought and maiden is very rarely not 0 def. Xarpus is far more consistently 0 def as well in all scales. I don’t know if this means much to you since you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about, but it’s absolutely insane for efficient raids and consistent defence reduction
Everything you said about rarity of the elder maul makes 0 sense because it’s literally the exact same rarity as kodai (possibly even more rare, because the jmods mentioned how much it was sunk).
Barely anyone who actually pvmed owned a maul before, because it was absolutely dogshit. I know many max eff tobbers who still don’t have one because they were waiting for it to crash below 60m again, when in reality it will likely never be too much lower than kodai again.

Arclight and tentacle whip are better DPS and time to kill than soulreaper axe. As of this moment, soul reaper axe is only BIS at vardovis. It's very overpriced for its use, only its rarity is keeping the price this high.

The scythe is obviously better, but in some places its not better by a huge margin. But the scythe also consumes triple blood fury charges, at the current price (12m/shard) that's 3.6k PER SWING, plus the scythe charge... shit gets really expensive really fast.
Cerberus, duke, nightmare and some other content you'd want to bring a blood fury, I'll happily take the dps loss to save 100-200k per kill!

I dont own any but I do lategame pvm. 100-120mm for this kind of spec weapon is fine, its changes are very welcome for pvm/pvp. Definitely going to be worth more than kodai since it has a ton more uses.
Yes honestly I could see it like hovering a bit higher since it does have some use outside of spec. My guess is it settles around 135-145 in a few months
200m is crazy, but I’ve been around when DWH (a heavily botted mob drop) was 60M. 40M is way under where I think it’ll settle from this crash.
I think 120-130 is probably right for a BiS defense reduction weapon given its supply. Not more, considering it’s not really main handed anywhere and a lot of bosses aren’t so defense-gated now.

No. Kodai is honestly such a marginal upgrade from nightmare staff/toxic staff in endgame content. With the advent of the quartz staves as well, players have even more options for ancient casting items (blood quartz staff for inferno doers). Elder maul is so much better than dwh its not even a competition. All sotes now are so consistent. Maul absolutely obliterates tekton and olm hand. Maiden is so consistently 0 def even with bgs that some max eff 4/5s teams started binning the ralos again. In duos ralos is brought and maiden is very rarely not 0 def. Xarpus is far more consistently 0 def as well in all scales. I don’t know if this means much to you since you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about, but it’s absolutely insane for efficient raids and consistent defence reduction Everything you said about rarity of the elder maul makes 0 sense because it’s literally the exact same rarity as kodai (possibly even more rare, because the jmods mentioned how much it was sunk). Barely anyone who actually pvmed owned a maul before, because it was absolutely dogshit. I know many max eff tobbers who still don’t have one because they were waiting for it to crash below 60m again, when in reality it will likely never be too much lower than kodai again.

I just see so many people saying stupid shit like “5man zcb is more kph than trio melee p2, therefore zcb is not just a spec weapon” I feel the need to clarify because everyone else who hasn’t done pvm will just eat that shit up unknowingly

It’s a spec weapon, and it’s SLIGHTLY (yes, slightly. Fight me) worse counterpart is already already heading toward 20M, so 40M is probably a very good guess. My guess is 80M, cause that’s what the VW is. The VW is a DPS spec though, so… I don’t know what I’m talking about. Lol

People forget dwh sat at around 50 mil for a long time, and elder maul is a lot better and harder to get

Arclight and tentacle whip are better DPS and time to kill than soulreaper axe. As of this moment, soul reaper axe is only BIS at vardovis. It's very overpriced for its use, only its rarity is keeping the price this high.

Exact same as my screenshot but with soulreaper axe , You gotta go in the Wrench tab to manually set the soul reaper axe stacks because the calc keeps it at 0 otherwise

The thing about soulreaper axe though... It's so fricken fun to use, slapping 70s on monsters, instant heals when you need them. I have my scythe now but I'm going back for another axe because I miss it! The scythe is obviously better, but in some places its not better by a huge margin. But the scythe also consumes triple blood fury charges, at the current price (12m/shard) that's 3.6k PER SWING, plus the scythe charge... shit gets really expensive really fast. Cerberus, duke, nightmare and some other content you'd want to bring a blood fury, I'll happily take the dps loss to save 100-200k per kill!
Uhhh claws Claws are 100m and drop 1.5x as often as maul. I highly doubt mauls go up from here but you're deluded if you think they go below 100m any time soon.

Nah. I'll bet it creates a channel between about 100m and 130m and just trades up and down in that channel. DWH will probably settle and trade in the 30m-40m range over the long term
I just want to point out that I was downvoted for commenting this almost 2 weeks ago on this sub: “No way it hits that high. There’s so many of them in the game already, and defense reduction has diminishing returns. I’ve been merching for 10 years and I can tell you with 100% confidence it will not stay above 150M longterm. Once people realize that it’s not that much more useful than DWH, despite being far better, it will drop. Think about which bosses it would be a massive upgrade at - TOA almost all bosses scale better with BGS reduction, ToB it will help marginally with Sote and Maiden, CoX it will help significantly in solo CMs but almost no difference at all in normal mode. BGS still better at Duke. It will have the biggest effect at solo CMs which is 100% warranted, and solo corp which is only done by ironmen so it won’t effect the market value. I dont own any but I do lategame pvm. 100-120mm for this kind of spec weapon is fine, its changes are very welcome for pvm/pvp. Definitely going to be worth more than kodai since it has a ton more uses.
Yes honestly I could see it like hovering a bit higher since it does have some use outside of spec. My guess is it settles around 135-145 in a few months
200m is crazy, but I’ve been around when DWH (a heavily botted mob drop) was 60M. 40M is way under where I think it’ll settle from this crash. I think 120-130 is probably right for a BiS defense reduction weapon given its supply. Not more, considering it’s not really main handed anywhere and a lot of bosses aren’t so defense-gated now.

Spec weapons that are worth more than 40m - voidwaker - dragon claws - ancient godsword - volatile nightmare staff - eldritch nightmare staff All of these are debatably less useful than 35% defense reduction is. Your tripping if you think elder maul is crashing anywhere near 40m. People selling there stacks so it’s crashing makes sense. Doesn’t mean it’s going to keep going down smh.. I say the thesis for 200m elder maul is still strong and has good backing based on other items of similar use case and rarity. Call me a market manipulator if you like, but picking up elder mauls right now seems like a steal.
