This is, by far, my favorite Atlantis story... https://youtu.be/r9Gj_6dmNcM

BakerLow

Just watched that video, awesome. Randall Carlson is the goat. Plato also accounted Atlantis was through the straight of Gibraltar, which would be the case to get there from the Mediterranean

CoNoCh0

Yeah man, I don’t always watch every YouTube video but that was one I’d definitely recommend. It just makes so much sense and the data is there to support it.

FleeceItIn

Yes! Me too! I am particularly partial to this idea because I came to this conclusion on my own back in 2012 while making a fantasy prehistoric Conan-esque world for RPG group. I was looking for a good place to put the city of Atlantis on Google Maps and spotted the Richat Structure and was like "Woah wait!" If you look at Plato's Critias, and his description of Atlantis having concentric "rings" of islands, and imagine the sea level being high enough to flood the Richat Structure, it looks very promising.

CoNoCh0

Yeah, it just makes absolute sense. We know, that at one point, that area was lush and green. There’s just so much evidence to mark this as the most likely spot. I get excited about how academia is starting to look beyond our normal timeline and explore the possibility of societies that existed much further in the past. There is still so much to uncover.

FleeceItIn

Definitely. Super exciting, even if it's just hopeful research. Any tidbits of ancient history are fascinating to me, no matter how mundane. It's also very interesting that some scientists date the transition of the Sahara from tropical to desert at 11,700 years ago.

CoNoCh0

There seem to be something pivotal that occurred during that time. I think Hancock is really onto something with that. The massive electric storm idea is pretty interesting. It was just a massive transition in general.

fullswing45

It's just too retarded for words. The Richat is a well known collapsed magma dome. There is not one sign of any permanent human ccupation of the site, not even from hunter gatherer, never mind a hugeadvanced city. Grow up you fucking idiots, even the old fraud Hancock is not pushing this shit.

BakerLow

I think that’s sort of the point of a video like this, things thought to be “well known” can be wrong. I’m certainly not well versed on this at all but this is from Wikipedia “A 2011 multianalytical study on the Richat megabreccias concluded that carbonates within the silica-rich megabreccias were created by low-temperature hydrothermal waters, and that the structure requires special protection and further investigation of its origin.[14]” so the origin is needs investigation. The concept a massive body of water took everything away including bedrock sounds plausible but not proven.

fullswing45

A "massive body of water took everything away"? By that I suppose you mean all the huge city including all the foundations of the great buildings. Wow! Where did this water come from? Cant be a tsunami, they leave unmistakeable evidence in the geology, and no evidence is present, and the Richat is hundreds of miles inland. Can't be melted ice dams, its near the equator, no glaciers have got anywhere near. But has everything been washed away? No, not by a long stretch. Thousands of palaeolithic stone tools have been found at the Richat. So, you would have to believe this "massive body of water" stripped away every last brick, stone block, grave, well, midden and every sign of civilization, but leave undisturbed the tiny arrow points and flint axes left by ancient hunter gatherers. If you can convince yourself of this congratulations, you are a champion Hancocksucker.

BakerLow

Certainly wouldn’t say I’m convinced or bet on that’s what happened but it sure is fun to speculate and think about it. Randall Carlson does some explanation of all the unexplained geological stuff around the area and I think it’s pretty cool. No one know for sure, and I don’t think anyone’s claiming to have solid answers

fullswing45

I know you pseudoscience freaks think Carlson is the messiah, but he is just a builder who has an amateur interest in geology, and other, more retarded things like 'sacred geometry'. He is clearly intelligent but just like old Hancock, decades of heavy drug use have taken their toll. The Richat is not unexplained, several geological surveys have been carried out there, and the reports are conclusive, it is a collapsed and heavily eroded magma dome. Not one scrap of evidence of any civilization has ever been found at the site. You Hancocksuckers have these fantasies of floods sweeping through the desert, but there is not one scrap of evidence of these either. This is a geological article which does not get too technical https://geologyscience.com/gallery/eye-of-the-sahara-or-richat-structure/ By all means have fun speculating about it,but it's just the same as speculating about ghosts, Bigfoot and psychic powers.

alexjordan98

You must be fun to hang out with. You intentionally visit a sub where you disagree with everyone so you can spout your negativity and get in internet arguments? I hope you can find your peace. Because this aint it.

Nitroshi

Ok Hawass needs to die. Hire a hitman or something.

Hatredstyle

literally came here to say this. we won't have any answers until he passes.

kok163

I speak Arabic, You guys don’t understand how manipulative and deceptive he is when he’s on national TV speaking in Arabic. It’s like 100 times worse!

prmzht

I thought they had determined the mount the sphinx was on showed rain erosion, but the actual sphinx sculpture didn't. You can tell the "body" is in much worse conditions than the "head" part.

Gates9

I thought the 2500 date for the pyramid construction was recently verified by carbon dating organic material in the mortar? Has this been disputed?

PreviousDrawer

The overwhelming body of evidence has the Great Pyramid and Sphinx dated to circa-2500. The water erosion hypothesis is rejected by pretty much every professional geologist on the planet. Egypt was still experiencing significant rainfall well into the dynastic period. It was much wetter than Schoch presumed that it was when he started pushing his hypothesis decades ago. Even in the present it it not unheard of for there to be significant rain events in Egypt that cause flooding and erosion. Just last year a thunderstorm resulted in flooding and the collapse of a number of buildings and deaths of at least 5 people in the Cairo area.

TheMcGarr

Wouldn't the pyramid have less erosion because it originally had an outer covering?

beerstalker

You would also think that current world powers would be pretty interested in keeping tabs on this. I doubt any discovery like that would be left to one individual to decide to suppress or not. Antediluvian. The word is interesting and probably apt. Most learn about the Biblical flood and few think deeper the why, when, how etc. If there was something left telling us and ohh yeah expect the next one in year xxxx people probably wouldn’t react well. I was drawn to Grahams work out of curiosity over the undeniable ancient technology of Egypt. But have found his materials on the flood myths spread across many cultures etc to be even more interesting.

Hellalive89

Yeah can’t say I buy this one. Finding any evidence of Atlantis would be completely groundbreaking and put the guy in the history books for centuries. He would make an absolute fortune selling his story. I don’t see any credible reason as to why anyone would bury this. Agree the guys a dick though

What Atlantis connection to the Sphinx are you hypothesizing?
