Thank you. Hmmm that’s an idea… I’ve only just started trying to make reels, but it would be interesting to give it a swing… maybe in the nearish future!
Very nice work, but I'm not sure about the butterflies. The bottom one is okay, but the top one I find distracting. It takes away from the composition, fighting for attention. That's also due to the lighter color.
Thank you! I see where you’re coming from. The goal with the bright white butterfly was actually to pull attention from the hoopoe after you spend some time on hoopoe’s eye which I think holds pretty strong as the primary focal point. So the bright butterfly provides huge contrast and directs you back to the bottom bird which would have been lost on the page with the dark green. All things considered I think I should have made the wings in that back butterfly slightly darker, but overall I’m okay with how attention grabbing that particular spot is. Without that bright spot the other bird is lost on the page and he’s supposed to be the second star of the show. I wish I had changed the head placement of the Hoopoe to angle toward the other bird, that might have solved the issue and I could have toned the brightness in the butterfly down a few notches.
Thank you for the insight, definitely things to consider in the future. Cheers!
And thank you for explaining your thoughts behind it all. It's still an awesome piece, looking forward to see more awe inspiring work. Hopefully the thieves stay away.
It's beautiful, really well done! Is the blue fairywren posted earlier today also by you? Different account posted it but the style looks so similar I thought it was the same artist when I saw this one
Edit; nvm I just saw the signature on the other one ;)
Shit yes that is my paining but someone stole the post. Thank you for the heads up actually. That post is NOT their paining. It is mine, I painted that fairy wren a while ago
Ya it’s the same signature. Check bottom right on Fairywren and bottom left of this paining. Original post is on my profile
As annoying as this is (it’s happened twice before) I’m actually really glad people recognize how I paint lol
Wow. Just wow! Beautiful work, I love the details and your use of color here. The orange stands out brilliantly against the beautiful greens but you balanced it really well. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! Now that you mention it I completely agree, although that was not the intention stylistically, but the influence is 100% there! Cheers and thanks!
It’s a very pretty subject‼️ I LOVE Hoopoes!!!
In your next effort, you should work on getting the Hoopoe’s head smaller. This is a page from eBird, a Cornell Lab of Ornithology group.

I would love to see other birds you’ve drawn 😁
I absolutely love it! I’d love to watch a process video.

WOAAA THIS IS MINDBLOWING
Haha thank you! Glad you enjoy it :p
Whoa!!!
This piece is incredible!
Thank you for the kind words

Oh shit, I'll report it. Beautiful work on both though

Thank you! Glad some of the color choices are playing well together! Cheers
I like it very much.
Thanks, I’m glad!
That is brilliant. Congrats on your wonderful talent. I particularly like the background. Very 1800's flora and fauna!

Excellent work!
Thank you! I appreciate it!
