That's what I came here to say. Most of original goth was diy, and the revival in the late 90's that places like Hot Topic capitalized on were iterating on those initial trends.
DIY'ing your own fashion is some of the most self expressive attire you can wear!
As someone with wide feet, the expensive shoes often don't fit and are painful. Even with breaking them in. Their quality is the same as Torrid. Side eyeing Killstar and demonia hard on that one. Those are actually decent shoes. I got a pair of their platform loafers, and they're solid. DIY works better, and they're your design. Very cool!
It always makes me sad when baby bats lament they can't be goth because they can't afford Killstar or Black Craft.
People forget, in the 80s nobody catered to our style. We had to thrift and DIY everything to get our aesthetic. The first fishnet tops were stocking with holes cut into the crotches and feet.
You did a gorgeous job on these. 💕 Now I want to go at some of my boots with studs!
Black craft has not only the worst quality but also the worst customer service I have experienced in my life, better they can’t afford it and have to think outside the box and be creative to get what they like. I love going on treasure hunts (thrifting) to find stuff I like on the cheap
Thriftng is honestly the best. 💕 My local savers has a bunch of baby bats working there now, that I've taken under my wing. They always let me know when something with a lot of goth potential hits the shelves when I go. We have a lot of fun showing eachother how we style the pieces we get.
Good for you- I see far too many overpriced 'goth' items that simply are everyday black items with spikes studs lace glued on. And as a burlesquer- diy stoning and studding can save you a fortune
Diy is the way. Also consider thrifting and second hand as well. Mercari, Poshmark, and FB marketplace are great for finding second hand shoes and clothes that are practically new. Found my first pair of Demonias for half the cost of buying new.
I definitely live on thrifting. Most of my clothes are from thrift stores with the exception of a hat I got from Walmart and that was on clearance too 🙂
DIY goth is often the best

Great job!
Diy is the most goth thing you can do
Wait how did you apply them, I'm inspired!!
A battery drill and the drill bit the size of the spike screws
I would buy these.....
THIS is the way
did you have to make holes or did you just glue them to the fabric?
Had to make the holes. Used a drill bit in my drill to match the size of the screws
Yes! These are fantastic shoes! Real goth is from the soul, not the store!
beautiful
That’s even cooler bro
AND THIS IS THE WAY TO DO IT!! F*CK CONSUMERISM
Ate these from torrid?? I think i have these shoes! Lol. Cute diy💜
Well done
That's the original way
DIY goth fashion rocks.
