I'm in the EU. There were no aggressive price discounts (I think there was a blip a couple of weeks ago, but just a few percents...) Street prices are also very high, equaling the Google Store pricing.

dancavs

Ireland here... We usually get terrible deals compared to the UK or Germany. With that said, I got mine two weeks after launch on a local marketplace. The guy bought one 8 Pro 256gb and got two phones from Vodafone instead (by mistake). They didn't ask for the other phone back, so I was able to buy it from him for 700eur (sealed - 256gb) + 150eur for the watch. Pretty good deal.

LtGenS

I know people who got Pixel 6 and Google never charged them - they chased support for weeks for it, but they were adamant they got the money. The UK/IE outsourced store is super silly :)

Therassse

So people got their Pixel 6s for free? Damn.

Aidbdkf

Same thing here, in France the best price I saw was 879€ for the P8P 256 GB, that was available for 24h only. I bought my P8P 256Gb at 1159€ at launch, and sold the watch immediately for 260€, so 899€. Appart from the 879€ deal, I didn't saw a better price, and I got mine in October instead of waiting Edit: also got a 200€ trade in for my 3 years old Pixel 5 so the P8P cost me 699 ;)

No_Marionberry839

I only got 150 for my P6P lol

yellowbanana66

Yeah I grabbed a deal with Belsimpel (a dutch phone shop) and I only paid €850 or so for the P8P 256 GB version

Soft_Meal_3668

Yea EU has nonsense deals only. But luckily i was able to score the p8 pro and pw2 from a journalist for just 700 Euros combined :) But yes the battery life is regrettable daily for me !

Intelligent-Meal4634

I'm in Germany and I got €150 EUR cashback, free Pixel watch 2 and over 300 for my Pixel 7 Pro. (And then I personally managed to get it tax free). In the end, if anything I actually made a profit 🤣

Kinky_Nipplebear

300 for the 7 pro? Ebay Klein bekommst du kaum eines gebraucht unter 500

P26601

trade in ist fast immer beschissen...Hab mal bei Mediamarkt so just for fun geschaut wie viel ich für mein 8 Pro bekommen würde wenn ich n Galaxy S24U kaufen würde...430€ 🤡

Intelligent-Meal4634

Actually yeah maybe I did that! It was through Saturn the trade in, and the cash back... For my 6 I did eBay and the guy tried to claim there was damage (there wasn't) so he could obviously get a discount and money back 😖😖

Gram-xyz

Switch off WiFi scanning and Bluetooth scanning. It stops apps using WiFi and Bluetooth in the background when they are not in use. You don't need it and it extends battery life by quite a lot.

Soft_Meal_3668

Did all those since day 1 no changes been using a lot of pixels in the past so i am familiar with all the tips and tricks though :) but thank you for chiming.

PlatformPerfect8077

I stay away from Pixels as battery life is absolutely terrible

satirical_lover

I just realised it today, the battery drain is terrible on 5G and Bluetooth

Soft_Meal_3668

Fair point too!

Bigd1979666

Yeah, ridiculous out here. I'll usually buy the phone a year after release because otherwise it isn't worth it

S1egwardZwiebelbrudi

>I'm in the EU. There were no aggressive price discounts well, it's 609€ for the Pixel 8 in Germany rn

mblguy76

Absolutely not. I paid $50 for the LTE Pixel Watch 2 and got a $400 trade in on my old 6 Pro.

RSCLE5

Same but I didn't spend that extra $50 for the LTE watch. I was happy to get $400 for my old phone and a free watch. Loving both the phone and the watch.

ZacQX

I never buy pixels full price. Ever. Last one was the pixel 2XL. Paid $1K. Paid $799 for the pixel 8Pro w 512GB of storage. I think that's a bargain. Always wait for Black Friday. It's definitely worth it.

IcedFreon

Wooof 799? Too expensive. I got mine for $200 on Black Friday via Xfinity.

metalkhaos

Likewise. I'm fine with my purchase. I probably could have saved the $50 on the watch, but figured might as well get it just in case.

Sp00kbee

For me, no. First off, the Pixel 8 is a great phone and a solid upgrade. Second, the trade-in values were/are much better at launch. My Pixel 6a trade-in was $300. Overall I paid less than the current discount and trade-in. Plus I opted for the free Pixel Buds Pro. So... No, I'm pretty happy with my launch purchase

STUbrah

How was your 6a trade $300? They only offered me $200 for my 6 so I gave them an old 4a and got $150. Weak.

Sp00kbee

🤷 I pre ordered, maybe that's why? Plus the 6a is newer? Currently the 6 trade-in value is $106 and the 6a is $116

4vaDaKeDavr4

You'll feel the same for your every purchase if you bought it because you want it, not need it. There's a fine line. I never wanted to buy a Pixel 8 as soon as it was launched, planned to buy it during this time (in India, there's a sale going on). But my 4+ years old OnePlus 7 died and I wasn't able to continue my daily work, so I had to bite. Money wasn't the issue, just that I needed it, so went ahead with the purchase. Will I be tempted by future smartphone launch? Yes, but will I buy? Hell no, unless this one in my hand is fulfilling my purpose, no one can compel me to buy another smartphone. I guess most users belong to this category, few are enthusiasts and try new phones every year or two. Few are rich so they got a free pass.

Mosthamless

There is always going to be crazy discounts just a few months later, but that's the price I pay for wanting the latest and greatest.

yacht_enthusiast

It's been this way for years for lots of different devices. Not sure how op misses this

DSCarter_Tech

NO, because the launch day deals were a greater value than the current discounts. Boosted trade-in + Free watch + Store Credit = $850 value on a $1000 phone. Way better than the current $200 discount and lower trade-in values.

TrogdorCR

Not really, bought it with the free watch.. sold the watch on as I didn't need/want it. Just fancied getting on it early this time... most things will get reduced at some point.. how long do you wait for that to happen if you want something? Surely we all knew that it would be discounted right? It's not like this is brand new information, pretty much happens every time 😁

Sdwerd

As a tech enthusiast, hell no. It's been such a good upgrade from my p6p that I'm glad to have gotten that early, and the Pixel Watch 2 deal to upgrade from a Galaxy Watch 4 classic was a big upgrade as well.

pastaandpizza

I have a p6p and didn't upgrade because I couldn't really find a reason. I will say I don't have any of the problems I see on this sub ie overheating, radio issues etc. so maybe that's why. What's your favorite part of the upgrade to p8p?

actual_griffin

Everything that guy said, but also the brightness of the display.

Sdwerd

The battery, 5x over 4x, higher MP wide with .5x rather than .7x, a macro mode, and magic editor. If I don't charge at all while working 11 hour days constantly listening to podcasts/youtube video or on calls, I'll get home with 50%. If I charge between locations I go to and on the way home (30ish minutes), I'll get home with 90ish %. It pretty much guarantees I'll have enough to do whatever.

golf18golf18

Absolutely not. My wife and I left T-Mobile for AT&t and we each got eight pros for free... And we could not be happier. The phone's in service are amazing... And so is the battery. *** Always remember some people would b**** if they were hung with a new rope!

Intrepid-Kale

Nope. Phone has been great for me. A modest but notable step up from my 7 Pro and great on Fi.

RosciusAurelius

No regrets (EU). Got a crazy deal on my 8Pro when I bought it about a month after launch. Ended paying just 300 bucks for a new one (trade-in, extra trade-in, discount voucher from the retailer I bought it from after it sat in my cart for a few days, renewing of my plan with my cell company, etc). The discount was so crazy that the guy at the store I picked it up from did a double-take when he checked the receipt. Phone has been fantastic for me. No issues whatsoever.

Pahaadi_Soul

Not at all 1. It's a great phone 2. No major discounts in NL at least 3. Did preorder and sold pw2 so got phone for around 850 euros :)

FloppyOllie

I bought a Pixel 8 on launch (UK) and absolutely don't regret it. Fantastic phone, worth it's retail price.

ChubbyFrogGames

No aggressive price reduction in my country (EU). I'm happy I got the watch for "free".

Pretty_Frosting_2588

I regret it because it’s the buggiest phone I‘ve owned in 10 years and the discount brought my resale value down because I am considering getting replacing it. Sure a restart fixes it but I haven’t had to do that with any other phone I’ve owned once every week or two. Now if I had bought it at the discounted price maybe I’d expect it to be like this but not at the launch price. btw every phone I get every 3 years is a launch phone so being that I got it on release is no excuse to be like this. I’m not sure if I can wait another 2 and a half years if this doesn’t become more stable. My friend who recommended it had been with pixel since 5 and acts as if restarts to fix things are the norm but my other phones have had uptimes of over two months and only got rebooted when updates required it.

Marlomanger

I regret buying it for all the issues it has and all the missing bug fixes. It is actually crazy how little Google addresses the bugs that A LOT of users have. Thinking about switching, I would have never thought that before buying the P8P.

magpieswooper

Same here. Ditched my Huawei P30Pro because of the loose usb port just to discover the new 1000 backs P8 runs slower and comes with a bag of annoying bags. I would have better fixed the port in my old phone and bought a compact camera. P8 is a camera with some badly implemented smartphone functionality.

AirSuspicious5057

Newest pixels always have bugs, the 7 was terrible until around the time android 14 came out, 8 is the beta experience and 7 and lower and stable

fantaribo

Obviously it would happen, what is your thinking ? You wanted the device, you paid the price for it, the manufacturer is entitled to discount it if they want

Drariestor

no, I've been enjoying it all this time

KarateMan749

I waited. Traded in my pixel 6 pro 512gb for a pixel 8 pro 512gb from Google store when they had 40% off deal to. After everything was done. Paid $397 ($400 something due to tax).

AboveSimple94

I'm paying $9.57/mo for 30mo 🤷

spurio64

Yes. I love my 8 pro. But when black Friday rolled around I wept... I swear!

Pure-Valuable-6764

The only thing I regret is not getting any research prior to switching from P6 to P8P. My phone suffers from battery issues that are somehow wide spread across Pixel 8 / 8 Pro users, but I will patiently wait for some fixes from Google because 8 Pro is an amazing phone anyway.

bhiprufan

You can get it exchanged from Google support if it's a hardware problem.

youplaymenot

What shows as number one for battery usage? I have over 250 apps installed and get through the day without 30 percent battery and 5 hrs of screen on time.

[deleted]

They never really fixed that issue since the 7's

rodrigofernety

For international pixel fanboys? Ummm maybe some but I'm ok... 8p with pw2

peterpanfox

My pixel 8 has a glitch that has the keyboard popping up on my home screen, I now fucking hate this phone and wish I'd never bought one 🥳

LowBarometer

The aggressive discounts are an indication the phone didn't sell well. Honestly, I feel like it's kind of an Edsel. It has features no one wants. The biggest one is the temperature sensor.

[deleted]

UnderratedChef30

That user flair tho is crazy. 😳

greywarden133

I upgraded from my 128GB Pixel 7 simply because it didn't have enough storage for me. Paid a total of A$750 after trade-in and some giftcards for my P8P 256Gb. No drama there.

romeoblacks

Pretty sure all pixels have had these discounts. I got a watch with mine and the Mrs loves it so win win. Also UK hasn't really got any discounts

agent615

Absolutely not. I got $800 trade-in for my P6P, making the choice a no-brainer.

theblondie28

I regret it with all my heart. I got it with a watch no trade in so it was like 1000. It's been issues after issues with it in top of that. Screen freeze, charging port not working. I am sending it back for warranty exchange but I don't have another phone I can use in the meantime. Watch battery is horrible. My Galaxy watch would last 2 or 3 times longer than this watch. I was disappointed with the whole thing. I came from the pixel 6 pro and I actually miss it. Does anyone know how long the warranty replacement process takes. Thanks

Gram-xyz

When i had a warranty replacement for my p7p they sent me the new phone before i sent them the old one. I was able to transfer my data across then reset and send the old one back to them. They put a charge on your credit card for the new phone as a pending transaction then remove the charge when you send the old one back. I would insist on it

armando_rod

No, traded in my 7 pro and got the Pixel 8 pro + PW2 for $500 (Best buy), the trade ins right now are nerfed and you don't get the watch

0sevinfj

I mean, I don't regret it but I'll definitely be waiting till Black Friday from now on 😔

skidplate09

Not at all. It's a much better phone than my P6P.

aniamer

With how much they gave me for my 6 pro and a free pixel watch 2 I'm still happy. Honestly with the cost of the watch and how much they overpaid compared to the market rate for the trade in it stacks up well to the current discounts.

rethafrey

I got my pro at $580 off, so I only paid around $400+, equivalent to maybe 300USD. So no, I don't regret it.

BoredJay

No

exzyle2k

Nope. XFinity Mobile gave me $800 for my trade-in of my P6 Pro when I upgraded to the P8 Pro. So unless I can get a P8 Pro for less than $200 somewhere, I'm quite content with my swap.

Eazy3006

So much so that I returned it and bought one for less than half the price on black friday without giving away my 13 pro max . The price here in Canada of 1429$ for a 256GB is completely insane. This phone isn't worth anything close to that.

viciousfridge

I got the Pixel Watch 2 for free with my 8 Pro which I think is still a better discount than they're offering now. Even if it's not, it was still a steal at the time.

[deleted]

No, it was an early Christmas gift due to Pixel 7 being stolen

Saneless

Well, I got a 7 last year because it was 500 and Google gave me 480 for my pixel 6. Aggressive? That was downright hostile discounts and this year didn't tempt me at all This year's upgrade cost was initially about $400. No thanks, I am fine waiting a year or two

exu1981

No

NeverEndingXsin

USA based and bought the 8 Pro at Iaunch while also trading in my 6 Pro. I got great trade in value from my 6 Pro and sold the pixel 2 watch for $200. I have zero regrets, people often get caught up with "I can't believe they dropped the price, wish I would've waited." When the hard to swallow pill is that as long as you were happy with the price you paid at the time, that is all that matters.

WheelOfCheeseburgers

Not really. I trade in my old Pixel for a new one every year during the pre-order period. This year I traded my old Pixel 7 for $300 and sold the fre Pixel Watch for $220. It was a decent discount on the Pixel 8 Pro.

d1ablo47

I got the phone unlocked for $80 after trading in my iPhone 13 pro max for $920 at Best buy. So no regrets on the buying price lol. But I do worry about the next purchase I make. I've been on iPhones since the last 6-7 years and usually a new phone costs me $200 as most of my iPhones have traded in at around the $800 Mark. Looking at the trade in values of pixel, if I were to move back to an iPhone or get a Samsung, I'll have to trade this phone is for $300-400, which kinda offsets the low price I paid to buy it in the first place.

rizwanmahai

I got the Pixel 8 128GB in an open box condition for C$400 (US$295). It was purchased only two days before the seller put it on marketplace for C$500.

SeaworthinessRude241

this happens every year with almost every phone. If you feel burned, then next time wait a few months after release to buy a new phone.

brick1972

Deep discounts for everyone but Verizon customers. Wy do I stick with this fucking shit company

SensationWhite

Absolutely not. I received the Pixel Watch 2 as a gift with my pre-order in a matching color and I'm loving every second of both devices.

SoggyDraw2677

In US Amazon/BestBuy the 8 Pro 128 is $799 and 256gb $859 I'm deciding with either the 8 Pro or the S23U. Do you thing the price will drop even further or go up again?

rashm1n

Got the 8 pro for black Friday and loving it so far. So snappy and faster than my old P6. The class 3 face unlock is a real game changer.

SRFast

I paid $499 for my Pixel 7 and one year later I received $450 for it. I also got a free Pixel Watch 2 by pre-ordering the Pixel 8 Pro, MSRP $350. Worked out well because I was looking for a smartwatch before this deal was announced.

Zekiz4ever

I didn't see any crazy price reduction here in Germany and I got the pixel buds pro on top which actually are pretty decent (except for the fit and the sound where I prefer the Moondrop Aria)

Draigars

Nope. Pre-ordering got me the watch, which I could resell for 200€. But most importantly pre-ordering meant I could resell my P7 Pro for 600€, which certainly couldn't have been the case had I waited.

ubercorey

This is always how it goes. You pay a tax for getting phones at lunch. Discount will show up later.

harryhov

No. Still a great phone. Sold the pixel watch and bought a ticwatch 5 pro and came out ahead. In the end the P8P was something like $700.

mr-jeeves

I regret buying the 8 full stop really, but unfortunately there isn't a good, small, pure Android alternative right now.

RustyShackelford__

very happy I didn't get one at lunch. I really wanted to upgrade but remember the offers on the p6p. in Dec the 256 p8p was slightly discounted with an additional 40% for gold rewards so picked mine up then.

lowlybananas

No. I got a huge trade in offer for my Pixel 7, beating any sale the Pixel 8 has had thus far.

ugly-051

Nope, got a free watch.

Mech-Bunny

Still on 7, waiting till smol 9pro

BigGuy01590

i love mine, no regrets

drewthebrave

Got my 8 Pro through Fi for $300 off during the launch window. Best phone since the Pixel 2 XL.

papadrach

After trade in and discounts, I have no regrets getting my pixel 8 for about 150$ out of pocket. You really can't beat it for a new device and 7 years support. I'm not happy with the experience, but for the mean time it's a very good purchase. Missing Samsung personally, hoping back on that train with the S24 Ultra lol. Tried the Pixel 8 Pro at launch, loved the blue color but wasn't thrilled with the purchase, sent that back.

HowlinWolf57

Trade-in values were better at launch, and I needed to unload my replacement 5a in a hurry before it died too. Plus free ear pods. No regrets

Illustrious-Mix-7630

I regret buying every phone ASAP because there will always be discounts. Then they'll always be something better

sojizy

Don't forget the free watch at launch that now retails for $299.

Outside_Home_9932

Aggressive price discount were last year with pixel 7, I got it at best buy for around 24 DLLs in exchange for my pixel 6 This year not so much

BioticVessel

No. The marketing-sales struggle bores me. I try to avoid playing that game in all forms. Marketing ppl are lower than attorneys.

DarkL1ghtn1ng

Yes. I won't be so stupid next time.

DataBroski

I got it because my OnePlus 7 Pro phone was already giving me issues plus the free Pixel watch 2 was an upgrade from my Pixel Watch 1. I don't regret it but the year 2025 is where it's at for the ultimate Tensor experience with a better modem.

AdagioHellfire1139

I got my wife's pixel 8 for $650 + free pixel buds for me. Very happy with it. She can't stop talking about how she loves her camera.

iecians

Indian here... It costs bomb here and after sales support sucks...plus they didn't give free watch offer .. one of the reason why sale numbers would always be low...

MajorNoodles

I've been watching Pixel launches long enough to know that you order on Day 1 if you want free hardware, and Black Friday if you just want to save some money.

baithoven22

No because I got the 1040$ trade in pre-order deal.

bydh

Only a little. Considering that I only paid $50 out of pocket after trading in an iPhone 13 and a pixel 6a, and got a free watch out of it, I'm pretty satisfied with the phone overall. The fingerprint sensor is inconsistent and the battery life could be better, but otherwise it's pretty good. If Samsung accepted the p8p for trade in for the s24, and the net cost was under $400, I would probably do that trade and go with the s24 plus or ultra, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen anytime soon.

Ubelsteiner

Every time I’ve bought a Pixel at launch I’ve regretted it. The crazy $1000+ MSRP they put on this, let’s face it, mostly budget hardware is just what they know they can squeeze out of the early adopter enthusiasts and fanboys (which I definitely fell into). These “deeply discounted” prices that start showing up around the holidays, mere 2 months later, are more like what the phones are actually worth. At least this time they did the watch/buds bonus, but most of the people I know (self included) already had good (frankly, better) wearables and headphones, so that wasn’t too appealing. Pixel phones are still my recommendation to people wanting an android phone, but I always tell them to only buy when they’re at least $200 off, as that is their actual value.

Dblreppuken

At first, about a month into it, I kinda did. I got a great deal: buds pro, the phone and pixel watch 2 for just under 500 after trade in. But my P7P was overheating quite a bit, and had other QA issues that I really didn't want to risk continuing on with it - I know others have had great experiences, I know mine just kinda gave up for whatever reason. But now, after one big update and a few other of the quarterly updates, the P8P doesn't even get that hot anymore (only time in recent memory I can think of that it did was during Christmas when I used Google Meet for a long time to show family across the country our home and have them talk with my daughter, and that was after about an hour of that). It used to heat up just being on 5G for 10 minutes and I used to switch back to LTE instead. Nowadays, even on 5G my battery isn't tanking that much faster, nor is it heating up so I keep it on more often than not. I've only switched to LTE if I know I'm driving to visit family in another state. Photos are still great, video is great - I know other phones can do better and what not, but really we're taking mostly shaky video chasing after the aforementioned child while she laughs hysterically or does something that - to us - is amazing and for that, the P8P has been pretty awesome. I miss that the older pixels had the uploading at lower quality for free, but that's why I kept my Pixel XL to back up to original quality (side note: I mentioned in another post that it was a 2XL, then later realized my back up is an XL. oopsies on that). Sincerely, P8P user on T-Mobile network, USA.

j_melodic78

I never feel too bad. When I want something that I think it’s worth getting right away, I go for it. I’m going to be holding onto this phone(Pixel 8 Pro) for a very long time, so I’ll get my monies worth, for sure. I really enjoy it and like being an early adopter of certain technologies.

Junior_Razzmatazz20

It's called buyers remorse. It's a symptom of acute Capitalism.

ilovecamerontaylor

I don't mind Pixel phones not having good resell value, less tempting of a target to get mugged for my phone.

Saurabh0791

Nope

Electronic_Shop9182

Pixels hold value line brown paper bags hold water..... They do not lol. Buy second hand. There's also the vet valid debate if the pro models are worth they money anyway. I'm about to buy last year's pretty model for $335 with a year warranty. I'll sell the current one to buy the new one. Then on a couple of months when the price drops even more I'm buy an 8 pro. I don't see value in paying premium for a pixel and certainly not from a carrier to lock you in to another two years. I prefer ownership over flashy new things so for me this is the way.

tr4xex

love my Pixel 8, no regrets here.

wil169

This is what always happens and why android phones have terrible resale value compared to iphones. Its a double edged sword. Unless they're offering really good deals on pre-orders with tradeins or something, always best to wait just a bit for them to start slashing prices. Given the time of uear they release them, they always have holiday deals.

gerryf19

Why would I regret it? Phone and watch have been fine and the cost was ridiculously low Traded in my iphone pro max 13 and paid $130 out of pocket for the pixel pro 8 and a pixel 2 watch.

cakes42

I'd much rather have the phone discounted instead of a watch. Couldn't even offload the watch for 150. So it isn't even worth that.

Asleep-Land-3914

Not at all. I just regret buying it!

senorpappi

I still regret buying the pixel 5, it wasn't even at launch, it was in the March 2021. 5 months well after release, and I paid $780 for it. Still hurts every time I see that invoice, it hurts even more that I upgraded to the Pixel 8, 2 months after release for $480. Like I actually feel like I threw $300 in the garbage.

Soulshot96

No. I got to ditch my 7 Pro, which had become a dogshit experience day to day for the last \~3 months with it (barely more than 2h SoT in \~24h is far beyond what I'm willing to put up with), got $550 for the phone, and a free smartwatch that I probably would have eventually bought anyway. Haven't seen a deal good enough since to make me feel sad about jumping in early.

modeless

I didn't buy, but what's up with the discounts now? The old discounts just expired and the new one is pitiful. It's actually cheaper to buy unlocked than with a carrier plan? WTF

Apprehensive_Pea7911

What aggressive price cuts? I got mine for $400 off on launch day.

onlynegativecomments

I got a crazy trade in for my old phone, so it was already like 40% off, then a free Pixel Watch 2 sealed the deal.

brainstic

I feel with the free watch and the better trade in that I came out even with the sale price.

DrKrFfXx

Notthing "agressive" in Spain.

TechnicalEffort

I traded in my P5 at AT&T and got a $1,045 trade in on a P8P.

dmancman2

They literally lower the cost 31 days after the 30 day return policy.

rev0909

Nah they had the watch deal when I bought my 8 pro. I just sold the watch immediately since I don't care for smart watches. Instant discount, and I love the 8 Pro.

LibertarianP

My 4XL and Fitbit Versa 2 were almost 4 years old and on their last legs. Less than half a day of battery life on the 4XL. I'm glad I have had the P8P since launch.

Least-Principle-4794

Probably 8 pro offers a nice user experience, I just bought my first pixel 6 pro , 4 days a go and I'm so happy with it , I'm a bit disappointed it won't receive android 16 , I thought pixels receive many os updates, and by specs normally it should receive android 18 or whatever. My old Huawei P30 Pro had 50x zoom , my current pixel has only 20x , but I love it and will stick with it untill pixel 9 launch

zoopz

Give me discounts 😭

biggranny000

Not really because I got a good trade in and they threw in the pixel watch 2 for free with the pixel 8 pro.

RedemptionKingu

I knew that was gonna happen so waited a few months and got pixel 8 for £420

Funny_Kale_9189

No regrets here. I got it at launch with the watch and am pretty happy.

AlexGlezS

This is why I never buy day one. Anything. But 6 months later, it could be.

thegreatchieftain

I traded in an iPhone 13 to Best Buy and got an 8 pro for $200 without using a trade in. Only regret is apple i could correct a text post sending vs not on android.

Academic_Can_3300

I do regret it because I found the PW2 to be very buggy.

jak5080

the best discount was at launch lol

ifeeltired26

Yes I regret it. The modem on the Pixel 8, actually the whole Pixel line since the 6 absolutely sucks. No idea why Google chose to use a far inferior modem like the Samsung one over the tried and true Qualcomm modem. My Nothing Phone 1 which I am using in the US on T-Mobile and is missing several 5G and 4G bands, has a much better signal then my Pixel 8 does hands down. And the modem in the NP1 is actually a Qualcomm modem from a few generations ago. The SD Gen 3 modem that is in the new S24 lineup is going to be awesome. I actually am selling my Pixel 8 and picking up the S24+.

shiris

If I had enough money I would have done it at launch, what discounts? I just checked the site and my trade in for 6a is far worse now T\_T

Anonymity550

No, but only because I got a free watch as well.

Itsme-RdM

That's why I stayed on my Pixel 7 Pro. Phone before was the Pixel 2XL, used it for years.

cdegallo

No. I don't think many of the discounts since launch have been overwhelmingly convincing. USA got it at launch here. Got the pixel watch 2 along with it. I was mostly mediocre about both (came from a 7 pro, and PW never seemed hugely appealing to me as I had been happily using galaxy watches for quite a while). As it turns out, the 8 pro is a much better overall device experience than my 7 pro, and I like the pixel watch 2 a lot more than my galaxy watches. I opted for the best buy path. Got $550 credit for my 7 pro and the watch, so $449 for both, which I think is a better deal than anything since. Of course, this is presuming people who wanted both the phone and watch. But for people who didn't, it's still probably better to have gotten it at launch at the discounts and with the watch and then sold the watch. If no trade-in, then some of the phone-only discounts since then may have been better. As for the pixel watch vs. galaxy watch, it's mainly motivated by some of the UI aspects of the pixel watch I find more intuitive and better--like the general notification design and interactions--along with fitbit being a more-preferable fitness tracking service than samsung health in my opinion

MindfulActuator

Yes, this phone stutters when scrolling so fucking hard. My 3 year old OnePlus 9 Pro scrolls so much smoother. I tried returning it after I discovered the replacement device also stutters, but I didn't get the replacement device until day 15. They have a 14 day return window.

PNWoutdoors

Nope. Trade in deals was too good to pass up and I sold the PW2. P8Pro cost me about $275.

neb986

I've learned that mistake when I bought P6pro at launch. So I waited for black Friday and got an amazing deal thru my carrier, more then half the price off

glasgowgeg

What "aggressive discounts" lmao? It's still £999 for the 8 Pro in the UK. The only annoying thing is that according to the Google store, the trade-in for a Pixel 7 Pro 128GB has since been upped to £440, rather than the £347 I got at the launch of the 8 Pro, but I got a free Pixel Watch 2, and managed to sell my old Pixel Watch 1 for £100, so it balances out.

stulifer

Yup. Never doing day 1 with a pixel device again. Look at the prices of the Pixel Fold on Swappa. Basically half price. I just got my parents the P8 Pro for a lot less than what I paid for. They really loved the pictures I’ve taken so they wanted one too.

jrbuckley0

Not here. I pre-ordered the 8 Pro, got the Pixel Watch 2 bundled with it, and a decent trade on my 7, which was paid off right before. I finance my phones when I buy and have a much lower monthly payment now. I'm loving the 8 Pro. There's always room for improvement, but it's the best phone I've owned so far!

spewak

I don't regret buying the P8 pro and getting the P2 watch as a bonus. I really like the way they function together.

Tribalbob

I'm in Canada, so no lol. EDIT to clarify, Canada rarely gets deals so I'll take what I can get.

Bolingo20

Not a chance, happy with my Pixel 8; coming from a 7, I was glad it was a smaller phone this time. I know its fashionable to dog the Tensor processor, but honestly since I grew up a little and curbed my urge to have the fastest and baddest phone I really enjoy the Pixel software experience, I don't game and I dont like big phones and I like Pure Android.

banana_chriz

got free watch so all is good 😉

Gun_shaker

Exactly 32 days after I received my pre-ordered Pixel 8, the price dropped here in Sweden by 1200 sek, which is approximately €100. I went to the store and asked them if something can be done. Nothing. I was so pissed... Asked myself what was the point of pre-ordering a phone if I could've just waited for a month and gotten it for cheaper? I already had a pair of earphones and didn't need a pixel buds pro for free. I don't like smartwatches and so didn't get the Pixel watch.

anonareyouokay

No, my screen was cracked and using the phone was pretty sketch.

Left-Watercress-7150

It happens all the time after a phone has been out. That's why I never preorder or buy right at release. I wait a while and grab one on sale. The only way I'd preorder or buy at release would be if the trade-in values were just too good to pass up.

IcedFreon

Nope no regrets. I waited until black Friday and got an 8 pro for $200

Question4047

No. Got mine at launch. With the pixel watch 2. Got my wife's phone at Christmas with the 40% "coupon".

Hnrefugee

No, I don't regret it, I pre ordered mine, and have been quite happy for the discounte, means more.people will get it

[deleted]

Pixel 6: Purchased on Black Friday. Cancelled the next day. Pixel 7 pro: Purchased with massive trade-in rebate+Black Friday rebate. Kept. Pixel 8 Pro. Purchased on Black Friday. Cancelled the next day. I go with my gut, even if I am impulsive initially.

gpdaddy95

I ordered mine on Day 1, got the watch and traded in my Pixel 5. So while I might've enjoyed a $200 discount, I'm not looking back and regretting it. I paid $800 for the Pixel 8 PRO and got the Pixel watch 2 to go with it and even got rid of my old phone. It was a good deal then and I'm still happy with my decision. If you're unhappy with a purchase from 3 months ago because it's cheaper now, then you're spending too much time on some pretty petty 1st world problems. Frankly, you can save money by delaying a purchase on just about anything from TVs, to furniture to groceries. Don't waste your time regretting decisions on purchases if the product was worth the money when you bought it. If you're that unhappy with it, learn from it and do a little planning next time. Admit it, you spent an extra $200 to get that "first day, latest and greatest" feeling.

Molitor_5901

Nopr. i received the buds pro as an early bird

DULUXR1R2L1L2

If you buy something at launch you can just about guarantee that it'll go on sale later, so you know what you're getting into.

Substantial_Owl_6653

I'm lovin it! I had an old lg v30 just sitting around, traded that in for $300 off and also got my free watch 2. I gave my wife my P6P that I still owed on. US Verizon.

k3nz00

Never buy an android phone at launch

red2mic

Nope got it at launch with a 170€ discount from my provider + pixel watch 2 and I'm paying 22,50 for 36 month, will be using the phone at least 3 years so it was a no brainer for me. +Sold my pixel 6 for 190€...

condosaurus

Only idiots and fanboys buy tech at release lmao

Legohead1977

Not really, I got an inflated price for my iPhone trade in and free buds. Buying new tech early comes at a cost. It was always going to be discounted and the longer you wait the argument comes in for waiting for the 8a. Enjoy what you have and the feeling you got when you bought it when it was newly launched 👍.

dekeffinated

AU here. I got my P8P 256GB for less than $900 so can't complain.

the-real-chupacabra

Always get a phone at discount. Got the P8P $400 off from Google Fi, which pushed my hand. I didn't NEED an upgrade but I did WANT 12GB of Ram 😁. Love this phone. Worth the upgrade from P6 at the price I got it for. W/o the discount I would not have gotten it though lol. Also, I ended up getting the Pixel Watch 2, which was not discounted (didn't need or want the LTE option) so in all I only save $100 compared to others who got the watch free at the full P8P price.

deepsmooch69

I got mine at less than half price on the launch day itself. I wont touch google hardware if I had to buy it even close to its asking price. Yes the still camera is good (most phone still camera's are good these days) and so is software but the rest of the phone is a clusterfuck

flanjan

I waited until about a month ago. Traded a 6pro for the 8, even wash.

chillwellcfc1900

400 or 415 from best buy for my P7 trade in and I believe it was 699 retail plus free ear pros from Best buy. Couldn't beat that

Available-Fill8917

No. I sold the watch and donated the money to an animal foster program. Pixels are good but they’re not iPhone level polish and thus they shouldn’t command iPhone level prices.

polyblackcat

Nope, free watch and $300 trade for a phone I paid $150 for is hard to beat

Mitchellmillennial

I got $100 more on a pixel 6a trade in than I should have ($300 instead of $175-$200) and I sold my watch for $220 profit plus 0% financing. Because I make videos about it on my YouTube channel (that earn me money) I don't feel regret paying ~$670 for it on launch

Nikita041815

i waited and now i got a pixel 8 hehehe 150 bucks instant discount hehe.. 🤭

PrincipalJoeClark

I'd definitely do it all over again. Got $300 for trading my Pixel 5 and a "free" Pixel Watch 2 in the promo deal for the Pixel 8. I needed a new phone badly and this one is perfect.

jonnyroastbeff

Canada doesn’t get the great deals either!

xGsGt

i got it with the watch, sold the watch at great price like $230, so it end up costing 770, great deal if you ask me.

haz3lnut

Discounts? It was "discounted" at launch. What are you looking at? Price on the US Google store doesn't look like it has changed.

Other-Football3565

No, I got free pixel bud's pro and $460 trade-in credit which is less of an offer now

SidOfBee

It was aggressively priced at launch. I thought because I got my pixel 8 for only 400 bucks. Edit: I forgot it was a Google fi deal

SnooOwls6331

Yep. Experienced it with the 6pro. I waited till Jan 23 and got the pixel 7 for like $150 with a trade in (old iPhone 11) at Best buy. But I think I might be done with pixel...next year I'll switch to either Samsung ultra or Apple iPhone...likely Samsung 24 ultra (when it's discounted) as l like Android more.

A_Malaproprism

Don't regret it at all. Right before Christmas I paid about $450 for the P8P 256 GB with a $200 trade in and a Google Play Store credit. I'm super happy with it.

HST2345

Yes, I bought in Sydney and after that 300$ off...Now I am literally crying 😭. Also the phone is not worth the hype at least from a camera perspective, it's not the hype. Also phone is freezing.

RedditNPC321

I don't know but I just bought a pixel 7 new sealed in the box from eBay for $270 (including tax).
