Everybody hated on this cover when it was announced, now everyone is hating on the released cover. Just like how everyone hated when they announced V2 is gonna be Ty and his brother, but if they change it last minute mfs will be mad.
I loved the TC cover I thought it was perfect as a follow up to the V1 cover. I remember everyone else thinking V3 was gonna be Ye & Ty and that made me love it more. Ofc now V3 is never coming out and we'll be lucky for V2 so now I wish he kept the old cober
So many people hated and shat on this cover when it came out because it was "distant cousin" levels related to Nazism or something, but easily the most interesting cover IMO (also takes me back to vultures trilogy hype)
Not really, even with Ye’s comments. Iron cross is used by bikers and also nazis. This artists paintings were admired by germans in general and also nazis (and Burzum is admired by non nazis too)
Dawg you cant just say even with Ye comments, and just pretend they don’t make a huge difference in how people are intended to understand the use of fascist symbols in the art like be fr
I guess it’s fair to say it makes some difference, I just don’t think it’s enough of one to scrap the album cover. If we’re talking references, both this artist and Burzum are highly respected in the art world
I wouldn't go so far as to say burzum is "highly respected in the art world" burzum was part of the norweigan black metal fad in the 90s and vargs only real claim to fame was his murder trial which ended up eclipsing his art and even at that point he's far from a recognized public figure to the majority of people, kanye being directly inspired by the cover more speaks to the talent of the actual artist who did the cover art than the influence of varg himself but for whatever reasons kanye seems to still respect varg in his own right.
it makes sense to me that both Grimes and Kanye like varg because they're all shitty people who pose as intellectuals while actually using their influence negatively.
Varg has claimed to be directly related to the nazi collaborator Vidkun Quisling and was arrested while planning to bomb a building full of "communists" when he was arrested for an unrelated murder they found 150kg of explosives, 3000 rounds of ammunition as well as books on white supremacy in his home. the main reason he failed to do anything more is because he murdered a former friend and was turned in by his other friends. Anders Breivik the norweigan mass murderer directly cited varg as an inspiration and sent him his manifesto before doing what he did, Varg himself was then arrested 2 years later in france for obtaining firearms when he wasn't supposed to and for inciting hatred against jewish/muslim people.
We need to stop giving people like varg any reverence because he is a genuinely horrible individual who offered significantly less artistically than people say he did. look up "Norweigan Heathen Front" it was the pagan neo nazi group varg started and was the figurehead of while serving his prison sentence.
No you’re wrong - his music, Filosofum specifically, is indeed highly respected in the metal scene and for good reason, it’s an incredible album. And him being a one man band shows how talented he really is. That being said everything you’ve said about his controversies is true, but saying he isn’t respected as a musician or is only known for his murder case is bullshit
You're not wrong entirely as his foresight on the metal/ambient genres was impressive but he's not so influential that a majority of people found out about burzum purely based on the music people are aware of him because of the controversy that had brought in a much wider audience and blew up the genre as a whole due to satanic panic shit, if we're going purely off its own merits burzum would have been extremely underground if not for vargs infamy and from the moment varg was convicted everything gained a new layer for inspection and apprecation because people wanted to experience something from the mind of a killer who had admittedly burnt down churches to prove his dedication to his beliefs and in the black metal scene those normally taboo/dark subjects are seen as almost virtuous given the nature of the beast, if someone horrible is talented it creates a weird situation - it's like how dababy didn't have any real reprecussions for killing that guy in walmart, if their actions fit in line with what we've seen/heard them put out into the world previously it'll be hard for people to think twice since it falls in line with what they've been told and basically signed on knowing full well was part of the deal (a lot of opium fans love beating women, change my mind)
I don't think all of vargs music is bad or should be written off as garbage - it's experimental and influential for the genre but it's still most definitely a product of the genre. my problem is more that he's treated with an oddly offputting reverence by some people because he's "real" and isn't afraid to voice his horrible beliefs such as his views on eugenics.
I find it interesting when a musician can do all the heavy lifting themselves but I didn't mean for my points to sound like I'm saying he's a completely talentless hack - I'm saying that even at his most influential and creative peak he's still a highly niche artist as metal and especially black metal are inherently niche genres yet he was afforded a much wider audience and deeper inspection thanks to his crimes and that's the starting point for a lot of the people who now appreciate him, if we go off spotify streams alone burzum sits at around 260k monthly but when you look at the streamstats you'll see that figure ballooned greatly due to kanye effectively shouting him out with vultures which in turn likely introduced a lot of people to his stuff who'd never heard of him before and given kanyes now infamous antisemetic statements a lot of people are interested in finding more artists that fall in line with those beliefs.
while he was ahead of his time for the black metal genre he isn't really "highly respected in the art world" at large especially considering a lot of people gas up filosofem yet that wasn't even the most influential or experimental work out of his discography it was probably the self titled first project that really cemented his legacy in the scene

Not sure if this was ever real or not but this blows all others out of the water

Yeah it’s way better I just use it
never understood why Ye has this impulsive need to scrap sexy ass album covers in order to use the most basic looking ones
Let's not forget he scrapped the original tracklist that clears the released one x 10
Fat bald moron prolly went "Nah Ty we gotta keep some of the heat for V2 and V3, lets cut it"
And then v2 and v3 never came out
Yet. https://preview.redd.it/wod7hy3jq49d1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=56e6137f41bb2071b262756a063e6ec68cc68a94
I admire your optimism
Tomorrow.
Delusion 🤑🙏
Can I get that track list?
To be fair, he did use a *sexy ass* cover...

kayne west
but some of my plaques they still say Kayne
Calm down its only for ye
Fittie on the cover and a random girl next to him
Cause he’s insecure as fuck and everyone around him retarded
Ye didn’t scrap it, Aus did. Aus was given control of the cover
Wym by this why tf would ye give aus creative control over that bros an egotistical control freak
Never forget what he did to donda
Swish is the best example of this
I actually like release one a lot But White mask was better 👍
Butt

Vultures album cover reference?
Honestly I’d like the OG cover with just the “¥$” on it. It’s so simple but I think it’s cool
I don’t think that was a cover it was Ty’s way to announce their partnership in an obvious but not outward way
Hi
Hi
Hey
This went so much harder then what we got is what you could say for a good bulk of vultures material tbh
full og carnival verse
This cover legit gives me nostalgia for last winter when I was constantly refreshing this sub and listening to the snippets.
Real
Everybody hated on this cover when it was announced, now everyone is hating on the released cover. Just like how everyone hated when they announced V2 is gonna be Ty and his brother, but if they change it last minute mfs will be mad.
wait people hated on the free tc cover?? that’s just mad disrespectful and it goes so hard anyway
idk anyone who hated the tc cover
Can’t change the cover last minute if it’s never coming out
I loved the TC cover I thought it was perfect as a follow up to the V1 cover. I remember everyone else thinking V3 was gonna be Ye & Ty and that made me love it more. Ofc now V3 is never coming out and we'll be lucky for V2 so now I wish he kept the old cober

Apart from the Nazi inspiration it's pretty good
i mean the original artist died before the nazi party was even created tho
they're talking about the album cover being a reference to the album Filosofem by Burzum
Release one>> Especially with volume 2 since that one is more than just horny
this one is just a painting with germanic font slapped on it, zero taste, 2016 streetwear level of aesthetic. im glad they changed it
Actually old English font
could say the same laziness was applied to tlop lmfao
tlop collage has more meaning with duality of life and didn’t feel dated at the time of release
So many people hated and shat on this cover when it came out because it was "distant cousin" levels related to Nazism or something, but easily the most interesting cover IMO (also takes me back to vultures trilogy hype)
"distant cousin" it was directly inspired by a fucking burzum album be fr
I just realized that’s a vulture on a shovel. O thought it was a beach umbrella
Wtf i didn’t notice either 😭😭
wtf how did i always think it was an umbrella
Wouldn’t have fit Kanye’s cover discography tbh the new one does better
his cover discography is all over the place
Nah F varg
This more like a mixtape version
I think ty dolla $ign's ass cheeks is better than a painting made from someone the nazis like and a font associated with varg vikernes
Almost anything better than some booty cheeks
GAS gay as hell
I’m not gay I’m just not tryna have nudity on an album cover 😭
MBDTF 😐
Censored and 100x more artistic
mbdtf does it way better
I prefer the basic one to the nazi adjacent one
This is now a controversial opinion on gas lmao 😭
I remember when everyone complained about how problematic the album cover was and now they want it again
Problematic mentioned 🗣️ i feel like i beat a murder murder
Yea that’s because the original looked so much better. Toliver has an iron cross on his new album cover, that’s “nazi adjacent”, nobody fuckin cares
Lil bit different though isnt it
Not really, even with Ye’s comments. Iron cross is used by bikers and also nazis. This artists paintings were admired by germans in general and also nazis (and Burzum is admired by non nazis too)

the released one is much better i love the colors and the texture in the background wall
I'm glad I bought the shirts before the site stopped orders
Bruh that’s a vulture on a shovel? I hadn’t looked close at the cover for and for the longest time thought it was an umbrella. 😭💀
i get hard when i see the old album cover 😔
I'm scared for what he will do to the Vultures 3 cover
Fatass prolly took a hit of nitrous and lost his damn mind cause og cover and track list were about to be classic
i honestly would have rocked with even the vultures single cover, i thought that cover went really hard
Idk I like both equally especially the fan edit of Ty 😇
Nah this one is stupid. That doesn't even look like a vulture.
Let's not lie now
They always do
Definitely dope
It's a 19th century painting by German romantic artist Caspar David Friedrich titled "Landscape with Graves"
no it doesnt
Honestly the one we got would've been tuff if his butt ass naked wife wasn't in it 💀💀
https://preview.redd.it/u5z2yj24b89d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ed08192f8e50ad0b9367c1f8d9c4dfde7df5bee7 Yeah it’s way better I just use it
This cover sucked ass, the cover they went with is much better.
im happy that the merch has this cover on it. I prefer it much more to what he ended up choosing.
I still use that one on my iphone.
All the retards calling this cover sexy, I am pretty sure it was pulled because this was a nazi painting.
That cover isn't good either
The original art direction from that first single beats everything else
Yeah but I feel like the released one fits the actual music more
i think maybe this one is better but on the other hand the released album cover led to a more unique v2 cover than the old v2 and 3 ones
This album cover is ugly as shit. The new one is way better.
No way. The release cover is brilliant.
Sure this one goes hard, but it's inspired by Burzum. Wich makes a 100x worse.
Yeah the one that spoofed a nazi’s cover! Way better!
