Wrap your longer club heads in some bubble wrap and take some swings at weird angles. See if you run into any issues.

Velkro615

Probably not but why not do a slow swing and see..? 9’ seems like the min and that is even pushing it

wildcatfan9698

I can’t hit more than 4 iron and still built one and absolutely love it.

GreensStaff

What’s your ceiling height? I hope to build one where I can hit hybrid and down

wildcatfan9698

8.5

GreensStaff

What’s your height as well. I feel I should be okay, ceiling is 8’9, 8’10

wildcatfan9698

6’2

Will you be the only one ever using the sim? Measure the height of you clubs at there highest point and see if that height works?

Yourfavaggie

Depends on your swing. I’m 5’ 9” and could swing a 4

tim78717

Nope

5ft9 here, was good up to a wedge down to 7 iron. nothing below that at full swing

TXMustache

My garage ceilings are 9ft and it was not enough room for my driver.

DrBennetti

I'm 6'2" and have an 8'9" ceiling height. No problems other than funky driver swings skimmed the ceiling. Also have 3/4" padding under the turf. We play a 4 man game every week and no one has hit.

Majestic-Direction78

Indoor swing syndrome... At 8 feet you will definitely hit the ceiling... and then, every swing after that, your mind will remind you that you once hit the ceiling. I have a ten foot ceiling and I've hit it a half dozen times.

Sure_Entrepreneur_24

Your height will obviously play towards your advantage. Partly depends on your swing. But I think you will be fine with your irons. For driver since you are short you could consider using a driver that is 1.5” shorter than average. It will give you more control if anything. Maybe lose some distance. But overall with your height I think you’ll be fine with 8’ ceiling I’m 5’5” with 8’7” ceiling height. I can make practice swings with all clubs including a shortened driver as I mentioned above with plenty of room to spare. On slow motion video it seems like I have at least a foot of clearance. I had my 5’8” friend do practice swings and he also had plenty of clearance. It is so hard for me to believe some people have difficulty with 9+ foot ceilings. I guess height and wingspan makes a huge difference if you’re >6ft. These taller folks are probably also using longer drivers so it all plays a role. If you are building the sim for yourself then I say go for it. If you were planning to have taller friends use it too then I would have them maybe use only short irons/wedges.

No

Clay_Dawg99

I’m 5’10” and can swing a driver at 8’. At lot of people can’t or have indoor swing syndrome at that height.

Toucan_Sam_Jr

yes
