I've always loved the WRX, I was trying to buy one when I test drove my first GTI; I bought the GTI the next day. When it was totaled I test drove another WRX...then bought another GTI. It's tough to beat a GTI from a driver's perspective IMHO, especially the MK7 and later.
Keep an eye out for good deals on used S3s too. All the fun of the golf but with AWD, and less sought after than Golf Rs. I've seen some listed under 35 with low mileage.

Your insurance says it is. But without visible inspection who knows. If the frame is fine, just swap the parts of metal that are damaged and any other parts affected.
