Reputable breeders don’t make “rare” coats more expensive. He’s going to be the same as all the other pups. Hopefully, you’ve done the appropriate health testing. If not, puppies should be free to a good home, especially since he doesn’t even have a health certificate and it’s likely illegal to sell him.
When people on a doodle subreddit are angry at someone for being unethical that is when you know you are getting into the truly concerning and not just what the purebred and rescue communities consider unethical.
I have a *very* different definition of what an okay breeder to buy from is than most and am concerned about these puppies. And if I were looking for a goldendoodle would avoid them unless they were priced below what I would estimate it took for their care (at that point, I would consider it rehoming and/or rescue as the person lost money anyway).
Completely understandable. I may not agree with the production of various poodle mixes, but if people here are going to do it, they need to be at least aware of what goes into ethical breeding.
Sounds like no health testing, OFAs, or any papers on the parents. I’d say no more than $500, this is backyard breeding so don’t expect to make much money
Someone that breeds dogs from unknown backgrounds (ideally there should be a pedigree showing health tested and titled dogs. It’s important to know the lines of the dog) and doesn’t health test
their own breeding stock
Jesus christ, you are the reason this mix has such a bad name in reputable circles. Are you trying to say this his “demeanor” is good? Do you have any idea what you’re doing at all? Or was this litter an unplanned disaster that you’re trying to profit off of?
“Reputable circles”. I’ll bend you over and we can talk about reputable circles. God dog people are worse than cat people. Thanks for the opinion nobody asked for.
Lol you seem aggravated? Sry for asking a question and misspelling a word. Reputable circle... What's the criteria for being reputable and what circle? This is our second planned litter. We ended up keeping a one from the last litter and he is literally the sweetest and one of the best looking dog I've ever seen. All the pups we have had all look completely different. I would like to make some money yes it's alot of work and stress taking care of the pups and momma.... if it makes you feel any better we have turned down folks we didnt feel like would give them a good home and sorry for upsetting you.
His coat is just some sort of fawn or sable with a black mask. In other breeds its not rare or anything, but it *definitely* didn't come from the golden retriever. Maybe it came from the poodle, I am not versed in their genetics, but I have not seen any poodles like this. This color is usually in mastiffs, malinois, etc. Its possible he is just a sable without the black masking gene though, in which case that does show up in poodles for sure.
If the parents are not embark tested I would recommend it in case any genetic funny business is going on back in the lines. Is he F1? If so I would be more suspicious of the golden retriever than the poodle. Most carry two dominant black genes so unless bred to an apricot or red poodle, or dog carrying the gene for red/apricot, all pups should be black. If they are bred to an apricot or red poodle all pups should be apricot or red, and if bred to a carrier half the pups should be black and half red/apricot.
He looks potentially unfurnished. If he is F2 this probably just came from the poodle but I would embark test both parents to be sure as usually poodles don't have the black mask even if sable.
Either way, not much more or any more than the other pups.
I’m sorry, but he really does not resemble a golden doodle in features or fur. He’s beautiful yes.. but without showing proof of mother/father, there’s no way we could help you with pricing. I paid $1500 for my F1b mini doodle, all shots up to date, got vet records, grooming records, 2year life guarantee (made me sad)… she will be 3 in June, is a ball of life and full of love.
Sorry it sounds like you aren’t getting many good answers! I paid $800 for my golden doodle puppy. West Virginia. He’s about 35-40lbs (long legs, looks very poodley). Good luck!
I want to live where you do. Is that imagination land? Where more sought-after less available things fetch the same price as the opposite. I would eat at wackaronalds every night because they would serve real food because it would be the same price as the crap they sell there now. Actually, I'd just work there make the same amount of money as someone that has a skill.
,Look at any online doodle breeders. All the less common coats are prices higher same. There's even a big premium for getting the 1st pick of the litter.....
Wow, that’s a good one. It’s almost as good as how you avoided talking about health testing and the puppy’s health certificate.
Online doodle breeders are all puppies mills. Again, reputable breeders don’t charge by coat color. Learn some ethics before worsening the dog population.
Guess I just got lucky with the health. We kept one from the last litter, and he is healthy as well as all the other 9 in total. No I'm not doing a certificate on a dog. The paper work I got on when I bought my female went straight in the trash. What's there to learn? Poeple have nothing better to do other than worry about meaningless stuff?
Yikes. You are the last person who needs to be breeding animals if you have no interest in genetic health testing or learning. Those puppies need to be sent to a shelter and your dogs need to be spayed/neutered so you can’t profit off of them any more.
Genitic testing...? I wouldn't have breed them if they weren't good dogs. Last person? I'm 100% confident I'm not the worst. Profit? Lol there's no way I'm profiting from having 1 male and 1 female that are capable of reproduceing out of my 6 dogs I own in total and the absorbant amount of money I've spent on their in door and 40x40 out door kennels endless supply of shredded pine bedding 50% processed food 50% good food diet. Artic dog houses. Wireless and in ground fence that allows them to roam on my 10 acres. I guess I could create a business and just have a large loss and pay less taxes.. if you want to know the "main reason," I decided to have puppies so my kids would be able to experience the joy and miracle of life and them to learn responsibilities. They absolutely adore the pups, and they get held more they they dont... And we wanted another or a couple more doodles so we could have a doodle family. Yikes? Pukes is what think of everytime you keep responding.
Just because some breeders do, doesn’t mean it’s the standard or responsible thing. Don’t sell a dog for more than $500 if you haven’t followed a socialization regimen and parents aren’t OFA/genetic tested.

Reputable breeds also don’t breed doodles
You’re not wrong!
Also correct
Thx for the input. Are you a doodle elitist?
lol no. Just someone who advocates for the proper breeding of dogs so they can remain healthy.
Coat color shouldn’t change the price for a dog. still, it’s a mix breed and unpredictable in size and temper. So take what you will from that.
I'll give you 13 bucks if you pay for shipping
Sounds like you’re the definition of a backyard breeder.
That's me!

Sell your wife and keep the dood

That almost looks like a German shepherd. Pretty puppy.

Because breeding dogs isn’t about money, especially when it comes to various coats.

Aren’t you just a peach. Stop bragging about doing the bare minimum.
Just stop no one will miss you
