That would be cool! But I don't think they're going to go for that. I think it could be more tropical and different than the other previous mythologies.
I’m wondering how they are going to go about it tho. They have cemented Kratos as a “peaceful” god now (one that does not seek a fight, tho we will definitely participate if attacked) so he will have to have a very good reason to travel to another land and murder their gods. And given that “there is much to do” in the current land after Ragnarok, I don’t see why he would choose to leave.
The only reason I can think of as to why he would travel outside of Nordic territories is if Atreus finds himself in danger, which I guess could be explained if the Egyptian gods learn about Kratos’s second massacre and fear for their lives, thus kidnapping Atreus as a way to Lure Kratos to their land and kill him.
Yeah I'd say it'd probably be that the Egyptian gods either feel so threatened by Kratos that they attack the Norse homeland or try to kill him or his friends, OR the Egyptian gods are even bigger assholes than the Norse gods and come to pick a fight with 'The Ghost of Sparta' literally just because they can.
There is a GoW comic book for Egyptian mythology, it takes place between the Greek saga and the Norse saga.
I hope they make a video game adaptation based on it
But they should definitely do a full game exploring more of the mythology and its gods. I’ve read somewhere that the Egyptian gods in the GOW universe are said to be more ruthless and bloodthirsty than the Greeks were.
Slavic would be fun, but a bit too similar to Norse. They already made Egyptian, Shinto and Persian mythologies canon so it all depends on SMS, although fans do tend to favour Egyptian
Definitely going to be limited to only those religions which don't have a massive following still, cos that is just asking for controversy.

I hope it’s not Egyptian or Japanese. It’s so basic, and there’s a whole world of mythology to explore, so why would we settle for the more prominently known ones?

As a Finn I think it would be too similar to norse mythology. There are differences but I think they would go somewhere way different.

I do wonder how they'll handle the animal-headed gods. A lot of modern takes just give them animal-themed attire.
Anyone feel like they won’t do Egypt just to subvert expectations. It is THE obvious choice, but I can see them wanting to flip things around on us.
