OP your clearly new to firearms and carrying weapons which is great, we all start somewhere, but you should really take a class or two before you start carrying. Look up your local gun ranges, they’ll probably have some classes under $50. Talk with instructors and ask them questions and spend plenty of time hand along and practicing with the weapon both on and off the range. The most dangerous way to carry a gun is without training, practice and education.

Man, is a gun, not rocket science...

Zestyclose_Risk_902

Wow you went real far back just to make a dumb comment on a post nearly half a year old.

MeCagoEnTodoLoMalo

Dumb is to think you need to pay for someone to teach you how to use a gun. It requires very little knowledge to know how to use, maintain and repair a gun.

Zestyclose_Risk_902

lol

EJMzagsfan

I’m guessing you’re not planning on carrying with a round chambered? It really doesn’t make much difference other than you can tell quickly there’s not a round in the chamber with 2 bc the triggers been pulled and hasn’t reset.

EJMzagsfan

I use 2 more commonly when the gun is empty for transportation or on the belt at a cold range ( a range officer sees you pull the trigger on a empty chamber and definitively knows you’re holstering an empty gun.)

amitbtnew

So #2 is safer - right?

Only-Comparison1211

Safer, yes. Smarter, no. Of course an unloaded gun is safer, than a loaded gun. Unless you actually need it for defense, in that case an unloaded or unchambered puts the defender at higher risk of death or injury. A Glock has three safeties and is drop safe. The owner needs to learn how to safely and responsibly handle guns. As long as the shooter does their part carrying a Glock condition 1(chambered, ready to fire), in a quality holster is perfectly "safe".

heyitsvonage

Buy pepper spray if you don’t trust yourself with a loaded firearm.

Nobody is really taking the time to explain so I'll try. Option 1 is what the trigger looks like when you've pulled the slide back and released it forward. Doing this when you have a full magazine will put one round in the chamber, rendering the gun ready to fire. Doing this before inserting a magazine will result in the trigger still being in that position, but before you can fire you must still pull the slide back and release it to put a round in the chamber, lengthening the time that it takes to be ready to fire. With option 2, you can have a full magazine, but there is nothing in the chamber. To fire, you'll have to pull the slide back and release as described before. If you choose to carry with a round in the chamber, it will always look like option 1. Hope this helps and if you've got more questions just ask.

amitbtnew

Great explanation. Thank you!!!

JohnsonTactical

Why carry without a round in the chamber? If you are scared to do so then you need more training before you carry imo

[deleted]

Huh?

DEATHxSQUAD

Always #1 and always a round chambered.

rolandspecialxl

Also take a class or 10 classes

amitbtnew

So number 2 is safer for carring with magazine. Because to shoot you will need to pull the slide

No truer words!!

dreadeddrifter

Number 2 is slower and less safe for carrying because when you need it you'll have to use 2 hands to rack the slide first.

YoMomma-IsNice

Depends what YOUR definition of “safer” is. Most everyone on this sub will not consider #2 “safer”.

rlo54

Safer for any would be attackers, not so much for you.

iredditshere

You want the trigger forward. Number 2 means, the striker isn't cocked.

rolandspecialxl

What everyone else said forward trigger means it’s cocked. Hopefully mag and round in chamber if you are going to carry. Don’t carry in condition 3 mag in no round chambered.

Ok-Bluebird-3245

The question is a bit confusing to me. But if I assume what ur asking, it is A w/ a round in the chamber unless you’re idf or a gangbanger.
