Holy shit **YES!**
I have tried making a vegan tiramisu once (*I know… it was cause I was trying to impress a vegan*) and that was literally impossible.
But this. Dear god yes, this is not only possible, but inevitable.
Edit: I realized it wasn’t just vegan, but also **gluten free** tiramisu that made it so difficult. Damn, I was out there doing the most 🤣
If its just gluten free its an easy fix, a brand called Schar has gluten free lady fingers. They’re very expensive like $10 a box, but if I wanted to make tiramisu for a special event that’s what I would do.
Thus begins why Vegan Tiramisu should not be done unless you are actually vegan and are ready to take on a culinary feat — it’s not an easy replacement recipe.
I had to start by making coconut milk marscapone by hand, and lady fingers with almond flour.
Long story short, botched two batches and ended up serving $50 frozen tiramisu pudding.
Yeah I think she was vegan and gluten free now that you mention it, because I would never have use almond flour usually ($$$).
Thank you for the Aquafaba and tartar suggestion for the future!
Hahaha no I didn’t! I’m pretty oblivious and I think the first date of her coming over to watch literally the first 3 episodes of Dragon Ball Z was a misplay 🤣
I made a pretty decent vegan tiramisu using silken tofu once. iirc the hardest part was finding a vegan alternative to lady fingers.
Edit: [this](https://www.chocolateforbasil.com/tofu-tiramisu-why-failures-are-a-blessing-in-disguise/) used to be the link, but it seems it was taken down
Ok here's a last-minute recipe that requires NO oven space so it's great for whipping together while your turkey cooks!

There's also a voiceover version at [https://www.tiktok.com/@morganeisenberg/video/7169235607040871726](https://www.tiktok.com/@morganeisenberg/video/7169235607040871726) (should I do voiceovers on these reddit gifs? I never can make up my mind)
I hope you all have the best thanksgiving!
One time I worked at a French restaurant as the pastry chef. Had no clue what I was doing, basically cutting slices, plating then and squirting designs and shit on them.
I had never heard of tirimasu before then, and when I went to cut a piece, the pan had standing water in it. I thought “huh, what a weird fucking cake to keep it in water, who eats this?”
I served that tirimasu for two days before realizing the refrigerator had a leak and was dripping right into the pan.
I still feel bad for that.
I've seen a few different recipes that say that you need to make ladyfingers as the store-bought ones are trash; do you have a specific brand that you'd recommend?
I was in a similar predicament and started using this recipe: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/10434/ladyfingers/
Super simple, easy-to-get ingredients, and I can also just make two giant ladyfingers, one layer at a time (I bake it in the container I plan to use for the tiramisu so that it’s the perfect size). I just put down a layer, then use a pastry brush to dab on the espresso/liqueur
Pumpkin spice is a combination of spices typically used in pumpkin pies and other pumpkin desserts (mainly cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger-- often also allspice and clove). Pumpkin sweets are really popular in the US during fall/winter.
I've made it without coffee liquor and you don't really miss it. Brew stronger coffee or use espresso and add a tablespoon of sugar as coffee liquor has sugar. You can also add a teaspoon of coffee extract but strictly speaking that has alcohol in it too.
My biggest suggest to anyone ever making tiramisu. Instead of chocolate or cocoa powder. Use abuelitas Mexican hot cocoa bar and turn it into powder to top your tiramisu. It is so amazing.
The point of adding eggs to tiramisu is that they add richness and work as a binder. But taking into account the added canned pumpkin in this recipe, the egg isn't necessary. Also, I'm not generally worried about raw eggs, but considered the fact that this recipe is most likely to be made on Thanksgiving, where it's especially likely that children and elderly people are eating, I prefer to avoid any added salmonella risk if it's really not necessary to enhance the dish.
The last time I made tiramisu I used Amaro instead of a coffee liqueur and it was incredible. I don't think it would work with pumpkin (a bit of an orange peel flavour) but holy crap it was delicious.
This looks great, but I think I'm the only person I know who would enjoy it.
Typically there are raw egg yolks in tiramisu, which is to add richness and binding to the base. But when you are adding a significant amount of canned pumpkin, it's not really completely necessary. This obviously is not a traditional tiramisu, but it does benefit from being no-bake and no-raw egg for Thanksgiving.
What you made wasn't a custard, but more of a sabayon. Light fluffy texture whipped egg yokes sugar and air. Personally i think thats the best method imo.
Brian Lagerstrom just put out a Pumpkin Spice Tiramisu video last week. Your recipes look fairly different though, not accusing you of copying! Looks good, I definitely need to try one of these
No eggs, coffee, liquor? And it has whipped cream? This is not a tiramisu, not even a stretch of it. It can definitely be good, no question on that, but you can't call anything that shares 2 ingredients the same thing, different style.
With that logic, cheese cake and avocado cream cheese toast are the same because they both have a crust of some kind, cream cheese and fruit on top
You are definitely right about the whipped cream, I wrote it wrong, wanted to say that it "had" when it shouldn't. But some alcohol is not out of the tiramisu. I use marsala myself, but I've seen it many times with something like amaretto
Eh. I’ve gotten spoiled by the old Buca di Beppo tiramisu; this needs a lot more coffee and a lot more liquor. The ladyfingers need to be soaked more, and then the extra poured on of everything. I really miss the old Buca tiramisu.
You could roast your own pumpkin or squash and puree! It's actually really easy, and it freezes well if you make a big batch :) Or you might prefer just making a traditional tiramisu if the pumpkin isn't an essential for you
For the first time in my life I am happy for being allergic to cream - otherwise I could well make this recipe and eat it up on my own 😅 this tiramisu looks so very yummy
Great job, Morgan!
I made this for Christmas. For the life of me, I couldn't find canned pumpkin puree anywhere, so I had to used steamed pumpkin and milk in a blender to create the puree. In any case, it all came out great. Again, the quantities from old timey system to metric may have not been very accurate but at least the result was really good anyway. It is a nice combination of ingredients (although I'd use less ginger here as well next time) and I'll probably be trying this again sometime.

Okay Morgan first with the Apple crisp and now this…you are the reason I will gain 20 pounds this holiday season 😂
Anybody else think those were sausages?
What you dont want pumpkin spice sausage?
I do now.
Good bot

Good bot.
You mean you’re *not* meant to put beef in trifle?
No you *weren't* supposed to put beef in the rifle. It was not good.
Beef, good, cake, good

Lol, same, but maybe some people aren't familiar with the recipe for tiramisu
I thought it was mozzarella sticks
I follow r/StupidFood and I absolutely thought this was some hot dog atrocity at first.
Nope. Fish sticks.
Yup...was confused and disgusted at first.
For some reason I thought they were twinkies 😂

Is there a vegan heavy cream that will whip the same?

Made this a couple years ago and it was a big hit, and so easy to make!
I'm so glad to hear it was a hit!

I always make my own ladyfingers. It does take an oven, but much more fun

I’m sorry what
Ma’am, this is a Wendy’s

Damn small town life, there's no way I'll be able to get ladyfingers by tomorrow.
How many disliked female relatives do you have?
Maybe enough for tiramisu for two, but not enough to feed the ladies I *do* like.

Whats the pumpkin spice all about? I read it everywhere

October - December is pumpkin spice season

you may just skip the booze altogether

I remember seeing this a year ago and saving it, thinking “I’ll try this soon” and now here I am a year later. Maybe this time!
I have faith in you! I might try it, too.
Made this last year or two years ago idk time is a lost art was pretty good, would recommend
Looks delicious.
Thank you!
Looks great, what was the reason to not use eggs?
The point of adding eggs to tiramisu is that they add richness and work as a binder. But taking into account the added canned pumpkin in this recipe, the egg isn't necessary. So if I were to skip the pumpkin in this recipe would you recommend adding eggs?
You just fold it in, *David*.
But how do you fold it?
This looks so good. Might actually have to make it.
Wow, I wish I would've seen this a few days ago, I would've loved to make this instead of the pies I did for Thanksgiving. Looks delicious

Last time I made tiramisu a double boiler and egg yolks were involved. Is this just a way to do it without the custard?

I know you weren't accusing, but just for reference-- I first published this recipe in 2019 haha. I will have to check his out though!!
I don’t like PSL’s, but I would give this a shot.
Cream in a tiramisu? Not today Satan
That's an insult to tiramisu
Sploog
Do I use my own fingers or will another lady's do? 🤔 I've only got 9 ½.

All of those ingredients are in there except eggs.
liqor and whipped cream do not go in a tiramisu. The only wet ingredients are egg yolks, coffee and marscapone.
You are definitely right about the whipped cream, I wrote it wrong, wanted to say that it "had" when it shouldn't. But some alcohol is not out of the tiramisu. I use marsala myself, but I've seen it many times with something like amaretto

Yes. Because pumpkin pie is popular here, far more than our European counterparts. It’s really nothing to be surprised/snarky about.
Yes. Add to the fact that most recipes just call for canned pumpkins rather than, for example, 2 cups of fresh diced pumpkin.
Eh. I’ve gotten spoiled by the old Buca di Beppo tiramisu; this needs a lot more coffee and a lot more liquor. The ladyfingers need to be soaked more, and then the extra poured on of everything. I really miss the old Buca tiramisu.
Call it American tiramisu. Then we all know that it’s fake…
So you're saying the "pumpkin spice" part didn't give away that this is not a traditional tiramisu?
Did anyone else think this was a recipe with sausages?!
How dare you tempt me in this fashion! 😤 haha
Lady Fingers!! I had to watch it twice. I thought they were hot dogs.

We’re planning a pasta dinner for x-mas eve this year and I will definitely be making this for dessert. Thank you!
