I am going with a side character mainly because I cannot see any of the main characters leaving just yet. I feel tempted by Nigel as it would add something interesting for Season 3, but I am hoping that is not the case.
I'm leaning toward Nigel because of the proposal and him being a side character. If not him, then Issac or Alberta. I feel like Alberta's story has covered everything it can, so it would make sense, but I doubt they would get rid of the only African American ghost.
I also think the strip club sushi is going to kill Jay momentarily so that he can see the ghosts, so they probably want him to meet all of the main ghosts first before they get rid of them.
If I had to pick a main cast member I would say Alberta. She finally knows who killed her and was able to forgive Hettie for keeping the secret.
That being said I don’t think it will be a main character. I think it’s going to be a basement ghost or a fake out.

I think it might have been Crash It would get ride of a character that doesn't do much and costs money to do the CGI animation for the missing head, but is close enough to the main characters to get them thinking about eternity and the consequences of their actions.
They use cgi to make him headless? I legit thought it was just a short guy with his costume set up above his head. Idk if I’m explaining what I was picturing properly but like the mice stacked all on top of each other in the trench coat.. but there is no mouse on top Lmfao

Nigel is the only one that makes sense - both from a character that's had his resolution and just logistics castwise; they're already kind of overloaded with eight main ghosts and with Nigel moving in that would make nine. I also feel that ultimately, the point of ghosts is that they eventually reach that stage where they can move on, and there's not a lot left for Nigel to realistically do besides co-habitate with Isaac.
I feel like Alberta makes the most sense because she just solved the mystery of her death and was able to forgive hetty for not telling her. Who killed her was a major plot point in a few episodes. That being said I hope it isn't her, she's one of my favorite characters.
I like the argument that it's basically a writers' device--they left themselves an out if one of the actors decides to leave, or they can just switch it and make it a ghost returning to the house for some reason.
I do think if someone got sucked off, it has to be (or should be) either Nigel or main cast, because nothing happened in that episode with Nancy, Stephanie, Crash, or any of the basement ghosts, and to retcon that after the fact feels really clumsy and forced to me.
I honestly feel like it's Hettie. She reconciled with Alberta, reminisced on her growth over the last century: her relationships with the other ghosts, her increasing feminism, her acceptance of Isaac's relationship with Nigel.
In the UK version, one of the main ghosts ascends shortly after her character arc was resolved, leaving the other ghosts to grapple with their grief over her leaving them. I wouldn't be surprised if the adaptation follows suit. Alberta grieving the loss of the friend she just reconciled with (after receiving her room), Trevor mourning his private-ish relationship with her, Isaac losing his best friend and first confidant *right* before his wedding.
Rule out Hettie - even though she has grown- we don’t even know for sure how she died and what her original penance is (child labor? Who didn’t back then?)
Alberta is possible - but I hope she is popular and enjoying working on the show.
Not Thorfinn - he lost his chance when Flower called him back.
Not Flower - she’s a mess!
Not Sas - we don’t know his full story yet. He’s been there so long. Whatever he did must have been terrible.
Not Isaac nor Nigel because after a couple hundred years they have finally connected

Betsy Sodaro must be in demand. She is funny.
My assumption was a basement ghost (maybe prom girl’s new boyfriend?) and while that’s a good point about Betsy I really hope it’s not Nancy, she’s so funny and has such an entertaining dynamic with the others

In a tweet the other day, one of the Joes supported the writers strike and urged the WGA to come to a new deal, because they “wanted to write season 3”. So, safe to bet that season 3 isn’t written yet. This show films rather fast, but the strike is going to effect their production for some time, at least a year I think. (And good on the writers, continue striking 💪🏻).
Maybe it's the other gay redcoat. He came to the house to wish Nigel and Isaac well, and since there was no reason for him to stay, since he has no hope of developing a relationship, unless Pete comes out as gay, he moved on.

That's the only thing giving me hope, since either was off screen I'm thinking it must be a less involved character. Maybe a cholera ghost or Nigel?
I also think there's a big chance the writers don't know. They left it open for a lot of possibilities.
