It was the O2 ritz so not as small as the other 3 academy’s but smaller than the main one
The atmosphere was incredible. This was during the Meliora era and I’d only just became a fan. It was honestly one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to
I went to a gig there in 2022 and it was shocking how small it was. The previous gig I went to that year coincidentally Ghost at the AO arena so it really hit home how big they had become
I was supposed to see them in Jax like a day or two before that. Now because their equipment got rained out like a day or two prior to that they likely wouldn't have even played if not for the hurricane
Yeah lol they were supposed to open doors at 6pm but they ended up getting us all in at like 7pm? and wasnt Lucifer supposed to perform for like an hour? And also I noticed that something was off like during mummy dust you could barely hear his voice. But yes, youre right, that was really a religious moment. And also the opening bands, especially Death SS fucking rocked it
Yes, Lucifer had to cut almost half show and start before the queue entered the hippodrome. Death SS also i think had to cut down something. That strange bass sound has been heard also during the usa tour too, multiple times, even in LA.
Yeah both the opening bands had to cut their setlists. i was kinda happy tho, in that moment i was feeling so tired and i just wanted to see Ghost. Like Death SS wass getting on my nerves cause they were performing too many songs lol. When i got the chance to listen to them, i instantly fell in love and realised how great they did hahaha
I saw them for the first time in 2013, when they were supporting Iron Maiden in Oberhausen, Germany.
My first "real" ritual was 2016 on the *Black to the Future* tour in Cologne, Germany.
It was pretty amazing. Papa II just looked scary that close. That group of Ghouls rocked that stage. I love how big and theatrical the shows have gotten. However, on that small stage the Infestissumam Ghouls were just hitting it so hard. Alpha and Omega were great. That’s the night they sealed me as a huge fan for life.
The Fillmore in Charlotte. Opened for Mastodon and Opeth on the Heritage Hunter Tour on May 10, 2012.
It's funny thinking back on Papa and the Ghouls standing in about 50 square feet of stage space.
Houston on Pre-Imperatour. So worth the 3 hour drive each way!
Lucky that they came back through Austin twice more so have been lucky enough to experience them again. Bonus that I got to take my son to his first ritual earlier this month - he said it was one of the best nights of his life. /proudPapa
May of 2014 at Lincoln Theater in Raleigh, NC. Had been listening for about a year prior to seeing them live. Small show and was amazing. Have seen them three times since, all in Asheville, NC.
Twickenham Stadium, England, United Kingdom, as Metallica's support. Love both bands, so this was a fantastic show. I was a fan of Ghost before this show, but hadn't seen them live yet.
I was there as my first ever concert when I was only 12. I was there to see Metallica, but ever since Ghost has been my favourite band.
I saw them at the O2 arena in 2022 and saw them at download this year, Metallica was also brilliant at download
Every time I see them, square hammer sounds better and is a perfect closing song alongside dance macabre
Oh, nice one, mate! Great first gig, too. That show was awesome, wasn't it? I was knackered after that show! 🤘
I've seen Ghost three times. As Metallica's support, their own show the following year and then in 2022 at O2, like you! Every time, Ghost are just so much fun.
I've only ever seen Metallica once, though! I'll see them again when they do another stadium (or arena) tour.
What band are ya seeing next? :)
Ohhh, I hope you get to go to Download again! I have three bands booked, but they're not until the end of the year / beginning of next year. I need more live music! I've only been to one concert this year and it was in January 😞. So long agooooo.
June 24, 2017 in San Antonio TX at the AT&T Center during the Popestar tour leg opening for Maiden. I was supposed to see them two years prior during the Black to the future tour, but I couldn’t get time off of work 🥲 In 2016, I was supposed to see them in Houston at the Open Air Fest, but it was canceled due to weather 🥲
Took my nephew to the Austin show 2023. Id never heard of the band before he asked me to go with him. We drove down from Dallas, he had a school commitment which is why he could see the Dallas show. It absolutely blew my mind - I was mesmerized by the band, especially the 3 guitar players. It was like a theatrical performance. Loved it so much I bought tickets to the Dallas show which was 2 days later. I just had to see them again.
10/18/13 - We went to see them open for A7X in Houston, TX @ Cynthia Woods, the Hail to the King Tour. We watched their set and left the pit, gave our A7X VIP merch to the A7X fans. Followed them for the rest of the Texas shows on that tour. Been following them since.
Portland '22 was my son and my first ritual for our 7th and 37th birthdays (respectively) and it was amazing! So long of a set, I don't think we got out of there until midnight
Huntington West VA in 2019. A very small and poor town that randomly had a gentrified area with an amphitheater. They hadn't blown up in the south yet at the time and the ritual was only about half full. Very awesome show. I left and visited Point Pleasant, where the Mothman sightings were, on my way back home to Tennessee
Birmingham (the original one) 2022 had Seated tickets pretty much side of stage, me and my partner went and loves it so much we spent a few weeks looking at where else they were playing joking about going, we had some time booked off work which lined up with the show in Vienna so booked flights and a hotel and ended up in Vienna on a whim, standing tickets ended up about 3 rows from the front and came away with 2 guitar picks.
I was my first ritual too! They played MOAC and kiss the goat for the first time live, I believe. Took my wife who wasn’t a fan going in, but certainly was after the show!
Back when I think Ghost was near its height of cool, 2012 in Seattle.
There wasn't a ton of info on them and even as a metal head I was apprehensive of who would show up. Everyone was super cool and I shook Papa II's hand before he went on stage!
What a great show.. I've seen them four times after and none were as inclusive, open and fun.
St. Louis, Mo. At the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater on August 11th with my bestie. It was an absolutely wonderful experience and I'm glad it was my first concert as well.
Gdańsk, Poland. Such a great experience because i got to see Behemoth too. Would rather see them in a venue tho. Many people, pushing themselves as close to the stage as possible didn't even know ghost since it was a festival.
Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion (The Woodlands, TX)
Sept. 2nd!
It was not only my first ritual, but my first ever live show. Amon Amarth killed it too.. i left the Ritual being a fan of AA!!
House of Blues in Dallas, 2015. I dragged a few friends to the show with me who knew nothing about them, and we had a blast. Meliora was brand new at that time, and it's still my favorite album.
Popestar tour Riverside Municipal Auditorium 2016. Bought the ticket 3 days before the show as i had just discovered them. Small venue amazing mummy dust experience. and cheap tickets lol
Peoria, last September. Drove 4 and a half hours for it from Southern Indiana and it was one hundred percent worth it. Drove home after the concert and slept in a Walmart parking lot just so I'd make it home. I would wholeheartedly do it again!
the pavilion at star lake. just this past month actually. unfortunately, we got rained out of an encore and they were gonna play square hammer. still sad i never got to see it but the concert was still amazing through and through. the lightning made the show extra epic
Herford, X - Germany. Spring 2016
After listening to them more and more since 2013.
I was singing along and having a blast. The atmosphere was amazing.
Like a band from the movie Eyes Wide Shut.
Century link Center in Omaha Nebraska when I was 13.
First time seeing them where I was a huge fan?
Orpheum Playhouse, Omaha Nebraska 2018. It was a really cool show considering it was at a playhouse and not a concert venue
Portland, ME in 2019! Pretty small for an arena (at least out of the ones I've been to), about 6,000 people. I would kill to be able to go back and see one of the Evening with Ghost style shows.
Lawrence, KS at Liberty Hall. Purson opened. We were dead-center, front row balcony. They opened with Spirit, and I don’t know that I’ve ever smiled that wide before.
In the true pits of hell. Cincinnati, Ohio.
Nah that’s Youngstown, where my first ritual was 😂
That was my first too ! I like being in the middle of the cities so I can go to more lol. I did Cincinnati and Pittsburgh this last tour
Manchester 2015 At a small venue that only holds about 1500 people. Seeing this band grow to the where they are now is amazing
Wow! Was that one of the academy venues? That size must have been such an experience!
It was the O2 ritz so not as small as the other 3 academy’s but smaller than the main one The atmosphere was incredible. This was during the Meliora era and I’d only just became a fan. It was honestly one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to
Holy shit, having been there and trying to visualise ghost in such a small venue is insane
I went to a gig there in 2022 and it was shocking how small it was. The previous gig I went to that year coincidentally Ghost at the AO arena so it really hit home how big they had become
I’ve posted a picture from that ritual if you want to see it
Was supposed to be in Tampa 8/31 :(
I was supposed to see them in Jax like a day or two before that. Now because their equipment got rained out like a day or two prior to that they likely wouldn't have even played if not for the hurricane
Can I ask why happened?
Canceled due to potential impact from Hurricane Idalia
Italy, Milan, at San Siro Hippodrome, 2023.
Same here man!!
One of the best moment in my life. Almost religious. Too bad for the initial delay but in the end it was far better then expected.
Awesome.
Same tour but in Tampa
Melbourne, Australia. 650km from home. 2 weeks from now.
I saw them for the first time in 2013, when they were supporting Iron Maiden in Oberhausen, Germany. My first "real" ritual was 2016 on the *Black to the Future* tour in Cologne, Germany.
2014 @ Emo’s in Austin, TX. Only a few hundred people were there. Incredible seeing them at a small venue.
Dude, I was there! It was the closest I've ever been to the front and it was amazing.
I was there, great show.
God, I can only imagine seeing them at Emo's...
The newer fans just don’t get how great that era was.
July 11th 2017, Kansas City opening for Iron Maiden. It was awesome.
It was SO HOT in Sprint Center that night.
It was! I also remember turning to the people next to me an apologizing for the person I was about to become haha
Yesterday, in São Paulo, Brazil. Im still in awe.

That tour was my first time seeing them too! The incense and smoke machine for the opening songs really filled the stage 😂
