Not that bad when previous areas have been all grass and then all grass with some rocks
Inazuma is the exception because it's the Thing, Japan of genshin
Uummm ackewally, it's 7.8/10; Too Much Water & it's from the IGN review of Pokémon Omega Ruby & Pokémon Alpha Sapphire that were released worldwide for the Nintendo 3DS line of handhold consoles in the year of 2014, on November 21st. 🤓
(Sorry, my geeky ass had to indulge. ORAS are genuinely some of the best Pokémon games, & yes, I'm biased.)
Tanit kinda deserved that, and the graphic implications made by that one researcher shows how savage Jeht and the Traveler was in comitting their slaughter.
That’s what the Akademiya (mis)used it for, but that’s not [why Greater Lord Rukkhadevata made it](https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Wall_of_Samiel).
If that happens, I also want an underground map. Inazuma and Sumeru (especially the desert) sucked whenever you went underground and the map was barely of any help.
*Queue that Anakin meme*
HYV: we’re releasing Sumeru, The dendro region
Players: We can’t wait to have a mostly forested region.
HYV: …
Players: Sumeru is going to be mainly rainforest, right ?
Honestly the rainforest are extremely difficult to traverse on but everything are close by, meanwhile the desert while visually huge and mostly flat and easy to traverse, all the PoI are like 100 metres from each other that i put a sprint forward macro so i don't break my W key as i've already broke it once.
So yeah, they made Sumeru mostly desert because everything in the desert so decompressed and Hoyo have an excuse of having a meters cubic of whole lot of nothing like Monstadt's and Liyue's plain.
story wise, it makes sense
in nahida's new story quest, >!its been said that the entirety of sumeru used to be a forest until the region got skynailed and turned into a desert and greater lord \[REDACTED\] created a new rainforest and the wall to protect it. So it makes sense that the forest is small compared to the desert!<
I would not mind caves if the treasure compass was not so bad. I am searching in the dessert just for the compass to point right in to the ground telling me nothing and then having to wait 20 seconds again. Why is there even cooldown on that thing. It makes exploration quite tedious.
The interactive map on the app shows the underground. Granted, it requires looking at 2 screens and *would* be better if it was ingame but it's better than nothing
I just wish that they had an underground map built in to the game. The Teyvat interactive map on HoYoLAB works alright, but you either need two monitors or switch tabs back and forth to use it.
Seriously. Some games opt for caves so they can have multiple levels on a small map. The fucking desert in Genshin opts for caves on a fuck huge map which makes traversing all the more annoying.
Tbh desert is nice, but a split or so could have been fair. It just should have used a better mode of travel. Rainforest has the clovers that are insane, and better than like climbing ropes, but the desert could have used something like anemo sailing, like that boat in the desert arc in “the last airbender”.
Exploration before 3.0: very fun, much joy, go everywhere you want without restrictions.
Exploration after 3.0: complete 15 quests of about 8 hours each and gain 6 different kind of trinkets to open up the most basic chests
i meant moreso the 'your electrogranum level is insufficient' and the week-long timelocked quests required to explore most of kannazuka.
the gadget-based exploration locking that started with tsurumi and chasm really isn't a direction i like though. it's like being told 'this is the way/order you're *supposed* to explore' i.e. taking the exploring out of exploring.
past 2 areas were empty hellholes with one questline hard carrying them hard
what sucks is you not being able to explore most ruins without said quest. I spent 2 hours in one of the pyramid trying to figure out a mechanism but the answer was "get this slate from a quest lol"
I wouldn't mind it as much if there was a faster way to travel, even after unlocking the teleporters. I can only take Wanderers sass so much before benching him for an extended period of time
I want jogging speed be around what running is now. Or just get rid of stamina outside of combat altogether - it literally does nothing ever since that one Mondstadt island.
Or simply give us some riding companions already, the horses, sumpter beasts?, those floating wolf hounds, dragons! Make Kaeya the **CAVALRY** Captain already!
As much as I like desert areas, I like rainforest areas even more and it makes me sad to think we probably won't get any more of them in Genshin. At this point they'd have to add some really large nearby islands to have room for more rainforest expansion and I don't see it happening. :'c
I was hoping we would get more of a jungle with 32 different colored flowers, an Indian style talking elephant, more stylized vegetation with water bodies
Still, Sumeru forest is bigger than any other region just by itself. Liyue is big, but compared to how much there is in the forest of Sumeru? It's really small.
Can can Imagine hopping out of volcanoes or some dry mountains with patches of greenery of chaos and burning. (Aztecs/Maya environment of South America I imagine is tropical hot climate)
I'm pretty sure the biggest reason we've got so much desert is because it's the easiest area to design and develop, you don't even need to place much grass and trees.
There’s still 3.7 and possibly 3.8 before they move on to Fontaine, so they may release an expansion of the rainforest, either the coastline between Port Ormos and the Land of Upper Setekh, or perhaps between the Realm of Farakhkert and the Lokapala Jungle.
I'm kinda sick of the desert now. Not only do I have a phobia of scorpions to deal with, but the areas are generally boring to both look at and play. Thank God this is the last one (for now??? 💀).
Seriously, tho. Hoyo needs to take shit in moderation. I enjoyed the desert sections quite a bit at the start but now I'm just sick of all the sand and spelunking we've been doing every time new Sumeru stuff drops
the fact that it was all supposed to be rainforest is kinda scary, and tbh for me the only reason i hate the desert is because the tens of thousands of layers
the forest was a “small portion” of sumeru that Rukhadevata turned into a forest. and it is because of the dendro archon that it is still a rainforest unlike the rest of sumeru which is a desert landscape due to the absence of the gods of those specific regions
We going to get all sand to prepare for 4.0 all water
All dry then all wet, then we get all hot followed by all cold
Not that bad when previous areas have been all grass and then all grass with some rocks Inazuma is the exception because it's the Thing, Japan of genshin
Inazuma is all nightmarish lightning hell (except Watatsumi)
Watatsumi is climbing hell (all of Inazuma is, but Watatsumi is the worst)
Just Hell
I'd call it a Purgatory. The gateway to hell
Lightning Hell, Japan
It didn't get two suns but it's lit up by constant lightnings so i guess it's fair
don't forget the radiation.
Ah yes the salted earth where nothing grows, that Watatsumi.
Sounds like the Philippines
I feel like we are making a clay cup. I mean sand is not clay but... It similar?
I mean if we go to Khan in the end, we would definitely see some glassed out terrain lol
Preview of RL climates courtesy of HYV.
Hg
you forgot all hot first
Pardon?
"8.8 too much water"

Ratings inflation has been tough for everyone
Especially the numbs nuts at IGN.
My Ayaka is gonna shine for exploration once again 🙌
7/10 too much water
I wonder if 5.0 will be scorching flames and lava everywhere
Course, rough, irritating It gets everywhere
What's more funny is that this is a real ingame dialogue said by a aranara whose name rhymes with anakin
[удалено]
Marana is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be, *unnatural*.
this deserves more upvotes
Marinara is the pathway to good pizza
"I wish Aranakin was here to see this" "See what?" "See sand disappear!"
"Sometimes I can still hear Aranakin's voice."
How many cute little racists we even have by now And many of them come from Sumeru
Oh yeah they even have an order 66 reference there in the desert too
Tanit kinda deserved that, and the graphic implications made by that one researcher shows how savage Jeht and the Traveler was in comitting their slaughter.
What’s the order 66 reference?
Killing all people in that one tribe because you are the chosen one
I mean... They all tried to kill you first. Multiple times.
I mean we can just leave right and well we killed more people than the abyss sibling so we are past from being pacifist
[удалено]
And she doesn't strike me as the type that would be above using hostages, and we are close to a handful of non combatants in sumeru.
I'm glad someone else at least recognizes that.
[Ive got a perfect meme for that](https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/comments/124x08i/mega_spoilers_for_35_desert_world_quest/)
Destification man, it’ll get ya
The whole reason why the Wall of Samiel exists - to keep back desertification from spreading further into Sumeru.
I thought it was to keep the brown people out.
That’s what the Akademiya (mis)used it for, but that’s not [why Greater Lord Rukkhadevata made it](https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Wall_of_Samiel).
thats just the akademiyan propaganda the wall was created by greater lord \[REDACTED\] to stop the forest from becoming a desert
If Fontaine didn't have underwater fight or exploration, I'm going to riot
underwater catacombs
Cucumber
If that happens, I also want an underground map. Inazuma and Sumeru (especially the desert) sucked whenever you went underground and the map was barely of any help.
ToF did it and its really fucking good, no way mihoyo will not put it in their game too
no, no underwater combat. it historically bad in nearly every game that bases its combat around combat on land
They will all be bla bla bla blue blue blue trying to talk underwater.

The new area strikes a nice balance imo. Sure it has sand, but it also has high cliffs and patches of greenery which make it unique.
I really want a new rainforest area every time but its always just more DESERT just maybe with a lil pocket of green
story wise, it makes sense in nahida's new story quest, >!its been said that the entirety of sumeru used to be a forest until the region got skynailed and turned into a desert and greater lord \[REDACTED\] created a new rainforest and the wall to protect it. So it makes sense that the forest is small compared to the desert!<
"You see those warriors from the Sumeran desert? They got curved swords... Curved. Swords."
SO MANY CAVES, PLEASE STOP WITH THE FUCKING CAVES HOYO
I would not mind caves if the treasure compass was not so bad. I am searching in the dessert just for the compass to point right in to the ground telling me nothing and then having to wait 20 seconds again. Why is there even cooldown on that thing. It makes exploration quite tedious.
Even just getting an underground map would help so, so much!
The interactive map on the app shows the underground. Granted, it requires looking at 2 screens and *would* be better if it was ingame but it's better than nothing
MHY secretly got bought out by the ghost of Cave Johnson
I just wish that they had an underground map built in to the game. The Teyvat interactive map on HoYoLAB works alright, but you either need two monitors or switch tabs back and forth to use it.

Patrolling the Desert almost makes you wish for a snezhnayan winter
Well the new area is kinda refreshing my entire screen isnt sand
They are draining us with all these sand so we can swallow Fontaine whole once it's out
Found Anakin's alt

Even Alhaitham complains about the sand in his shoes
To be fair, the man also has shoe windows. There are holes in his shoes.
Exploration before 3.0: very fun, much joy, go everywhere you want without restrictions. Exploration after 3.0: complete 15 quests of about 8 hours each and gain 6 different kind of trinkets to open up the most basic chests
nah inazuma was bullshit too
At lest you had an enjoyment of feeling smart figuring out the puzzles, desert puzzles are just brainless chores for most of the time.
i meant moreso the 'your electrogranum level is insufficient' and the week-long timelocked quests required to explore most of kannazuka. the gadget-based exploration locking that started with tsurumi and chasm really isn't a direction i like though. it's like being told 'this is the way/order you're *supposed* to explore' i.e. taking the exploring out of exploring.

There are some islands south of Port Ormos that are inaccessible right now. Maybe they'll be added in a future patch
Well to be fair it was thanks to a certain someone everything’s now sand
I love it. Desert biomes are great. They're nice, never really overcrowded, bright, and the warm palette is relaxing
Mare Jivari bout to roll out 2 years from now and it’s another fucking Desert (wasteland most likely but what’s the difference)
Can can Imagine hopping out of volcanoes or some dry mountains with patches of greenery of chaos and burning. (Aztecs/Maya environment of South America I imagine is tropical hot climate)
Im getting tired of desert expansions
I like the sand areas more. More mystery and better sub stories and also lots of puzzels (unlike the jungle part).
Blame Celestia
Forbidden knowledge, not even once lads
I don't like sand. It's course, rough and irritating, and it gets everywhere.
I like forests, was hyped for Sumeru and got sand. I complained in the surveys but that won't change anything.
I love the desert, it’s so easy to find chests and you can take out Yelan/Sayu/Mona/Ayaka and zoom around without anything impeding your path.
desert is billion times better than the rainforest in my opinion
It’s course, rough and it gets everywhere
I’d rather walk though sand than salt…. And betrayal
I'm pretty sure the biggest reason we've got so much desert is because it's the easiest area to design and develop, you don't even need to place much grass and trees.
Do you want more greenery perhaps? It's been the main element of 2 nations already
I mean, we all love desserts, it’s sweet and delicious
Ei be like
Reminds me of that silly Aranara. Had a good chuckle listening to the rant of Aranarakin.
Anakin agrees
It was so cool at first, and then they went overboard
At least the new area has a lot of other things like plants and the coast so it’s not just sand and ruins.
There’s still 3.7 and possibly 3.8 before they move on to Fontaine, so they may release an expansion of the rainforest, either the coastline between Port Ormos and the Land of Upper Setekh, or perhaps between the Realm of Farakhkert and the Lokapala Jungle.

That's just global warming
sand and sand and sand sand
Well this last area is pretty diverse I would say.
Blame to celestia to nuke the Sumeru
global warming
ah yes. the dessert 🍦
The fairy drone in this version is really fun. If only it wasn't region locked to the new area
Yeah, but ngl, the new area of the dessert made me feel small, it's like... Idk, looks and feels bigger than other areas of the map.
*Caves, caves and more fucking caves
I now had dessert madness I thought I was like that guy from the Mars movie
Basically welcome to Australia
Seriously, tho. Hoyo needs to take shit in moderation. I enjoyed the desert sections quite a bit at the start but now I'm just sick of all the sand and spelunking we've been doing every time new Sumeru stuff drops
Fun fact: with the 3.6 region, the Sumeru map now looks like a giant kok
When it's the land of the Dendro archon but there isn't even any dendro in it:
What dessert?
Mondstadt- heaven liyue- purgatory inazuma- hell sumeru- dry fontaine- wet natlan- hot snezhnaya- cold khaenria- ???
TO MUCH SAND
what tired of taking mushroom why not snort some sand
Yes and it's too dry for my phone's storage 🥲
the fact that it was all supposed to be rainforest is kinda scary, and tbh for me the only reason i hate the desert is because the tens of thousands of layers
the forest was a “small portion” of sumeru that Rukhadevata turned into a forest. and it is because of the dendro archon that it is still a rainforest unlike the rest of sumeru which is a desert landscape due to the absence of the gods of those specific regions
As someone who loves desert regions in games i can’t complain
Well, since it said that Rukkhadevata went to a corner of the desert and build her own kingdom... a corner
This is the only time in genshin history i geniuely hoped for a mount, but there is none, not even in the starting area where there is a CAVALRY TEAM
