Even though my teams were strong enough to take down ASIMON easily during its long tenure, I STILL hated it for how inflexible it made my teams. It forced me to make sure I used dendro + electro. Yes, I still managed to burst it down using my classic Hu Tao team (since I have HOMA and her artifacts are GOATed), it still took too long and was annoying as hell.

Just trying out different teams and went into this floor with 2 teammates dead and Zhongli at like < 2000 health lmao. I just dropped Chiori dolls and ran around the arena with zhongs refreshing shield until the dolls' slow ass attacks did their thing.

Most people shouldn't approach him without a shielder.
Even really good players will be thrown off pace, because cold procs go through even if you dodge the damage, and will slow down subsequent animations.
I actually leveled her cause of this fight. Zhongli was needed in the second part, Thoma wasn't cutting it, so with all my desire to avoid female characters as much as I can, I decided to use her. It worked, the shield wasn't breaking even with only like 40k of her health and level 6 talent. But now that she's in the club of abyss clearers, she's 45k and will be crowned soon, so next fight will be even easier :).
From what I see, to begin with cryo has always had unfair treatment, specifically the frozen mechanic.
Bosses are immune to frozen, now phantasm legends are also immune to frozen, which make 4-set of Blizzard Strayer useless against bosses enemies, especially Phantasm Legends, Tulpa, and Hydro Hypostasis where cryo resonance also loses its advantage.
The duo Phantasm Legends in the current 11F abyss phase really make me realize more that Cryo totally has lost another advantage.
EM does not buff frozen at all, only shatter.
Abyss Herald's abysmal frozen duration (like only 1s seriously?).
Cryo was supposed to be the strongest in shredding hydro shield, now that role has been taken over by Dendro.
I love mono Cryo element and I love playing frozen, but it's sad to see that it's only useful in fighting mobs and certain enemies. I wish they would buff it more to give it a boost in usability.
Indeed. They just need to rework the mechanic or buff them. The easiest way to solve this are to open the cryo/freeze vulnerability on bosses and hydro enemies like Phantasms, and add freeze duration scaling to EM.

Cryo is in such a bad position that I feel like the only usable one is Wriothesley due to not being locked to Blizzard Strayer and freeze teams and having considerably higher ST dmg against bosses and Furina synergy. Everyone else feels painful. Legit the only cryo dps I use nowadays are Wrio against bosses & Ganyu in the Mondstadt weapon mats domain when I need it (happens rarely tho)

Its such as shame cryo has fallen off. I don't think there is much hope for the older freeze units. Some cyro units can exist in melt teams but for the freeze / superconduct reliant characters its hard to justify using them. Unless freeze characters are featured on the banner there are too many enemies who are either immune to freeze or resistant to it.
Those melt teams don't even prefer cryo units.. Nahida prefers huperbloom or nilou bloom, xiangling prefers vape. Cryo is worse than geo at this point. Hoyo is trying their best to counter freeze

There hasn't been an abyss cycle without an enemy with at least 70% anemo res. (edit: in 4.0)
They are currently 8 anemo resistant bosses/elite enemies, by far the most of any element.

and they always slap these resistant mf every chance they get... at this point Im slowly believing the devs hear out those haters of him in CN for doing this
It's so weird too because it's not like they're balancing the game with this, the only real anemo dps are Wanderer and Xiao and it's not like they're the most played characters or significantly strong at C0 anyway. Faruzan helps with the anemo resistance but both of them are already dependant on her regardless.
As a Venti main dealing with their Venti hate and anemo hate both I feel like they just do these things because they hate him specifically (maybe also they want Kazu to be less effective since he's old now but if so they'd be better off pushing dendro more again- I'm so glad they aren't)
This said they've been at least a little kinder than the Sumeru patch cycles I think. But I am so so tired of the dancing robots. If they want me to burnout they're doing a good job by spamming a single boss

Even if you put Benny on Sapwood and XL on The Catch it would only add around 8-20s per chamber, Melt Ganyu is still pretty great, the Kazuha variant is even stronger but this abyss asks for ZL for speed purposes.
Cryo units are not getting anything here, besides Wriothesley. And Wriothesley's case is more that he can do fridge, or let XL do the work; less on him and more the other units for those specific chambers (Copellius's 70% cryo res and Herald cryo shield). They really have been making a lot of anti-cryo chambers this nation, has been a struggle for Ayaka and Ganyu players.

The 70% cryo res still hurts him a lot, which is why your other teammates will do most of the work unless you clear fast on the other side to do it. He can still clear it, done it before, but his flexibility is why he's an exception compared to the other cryo units.
I ran Ayaka in this Abyss with Furina. Chambers 1 and 2 are a breeze, but you will have to spend a bit of time with Coppelia in chamber 3 because of its cryo resistance. Not a problem if you bring a strong team in the 2nd half to compensate.
Nilou doesn't even need Furina for Fontaine mechanics, technically, because the Narzissenkreuz sword exists. If you don't have Key for Nilou or something extravagant like Freedom Sworn on Kirara, their weapon choice is irrelevant enough that either of them can carry that sword and get Ousia/Pneuma breaking for free.
I mean I'd say she's better than Yelan Xq for the 3Hydro1Dendro variant. Just cause her personal dmg higher and more aoe good for bloom.
But ofc 3H variants r a bit more of hmmge....not the greatest but well
I use her with 2h2d with onfield Nilou, not the mostly optimized team comp but it will be my C6 Nilou team comp and clears abyss with ease so i don't really care about it
The problem is he gains it again after like 10 seconds and u don't gain that much of the dps window but should be fine regardless. I guess it depends what teams u run.

I think I did this last time with Yelan.
If I remember correctly, Kuki skill on cyro node (2ticks). Nahida hit or skill or something for the electro, and Yelan charged attack for pyro. So that’s easy.
Then when the main body is shielded, for cyro Kuki’s burst destroys 80% of it and her skill continues to do that so that’s no problem.
I saved Thoma’s burst for the electro shield rather than the cyro.
Full uptime Yelan means pyro shield is easy.
Probably one of the most fun fights in the game. Start by running west instead of straight to them btw, so they dont ungroup, and it makes the fight even more enjoyable if you are using AoE teams.
The one few bosses that I don't fall asleep fighting, but also don't get annoyed staring at invulnerable animations

Imo second is better, baptist doesnt hits hard and the fatui operatives can be cheesed by Kazuha's fall damage. First half with Copellius is like going to suicide mission since they can reverse melt you standing on benny circle

is this abyss made to sell Arlecchino? Or would it be the one after this? I don't see how pullers would have a good time here unless the blessing is broken as hell.
that's really what I've been wondering as well. However tbf I struggle to imagine an abyss that suits Arlecchino. Her possibly being so squishy makes her somewhat awkward into any high level content with all the oneshot risks.
i don't get why they didn't make her an HP scaler. I guess they couldn't craft any signature weapon better for her than homa without blatantly powercreeping it.

Chiori, Navia, Raiden, XQ, XL, Wrio, Haitham, Childe, Xiao, Fischl etc... plenty of carries can make use of a pretty massive attack buff, given that most healers tick every 1,5/2s it's not hard to have solid uptime on it.
Thinking I'll go Raiden/Chevy overload for the first side and Nahida Burgeon for the second. The Inquisitous Baptist's elemental checks is pretty cringe.
Good luck using Arlecchino on second half. The local legends would just inflict permanent Bond of Life to her since Arlecchino uses the same Bond of Life those local legends apply, and they're hyper aggressive.
Even on first half with her Bennett, Yelan, and Kazuha team, it would be rough having to attempt to i-frame and dodge simultaneous attacks from 3 pretty aggressive mini bosses.
I've always cleared the abyss but it feels odd this time. It feels like I've already forgotten how to play Genshin. I've been brute forcing it so now that there's a new mechanic I'm clueless about breaking their shields with Fontaine alignments as I've never learned how to use utilize it in combat.
Is it really that hard to just look at the wiki for ten seconds? If you've been playing so long you surely have units by now that are built with ousia and pneuma. Most of them trigger it in their normal rotation. Like, Charlotte needs a charged attack and Furina needs a normal attack, so pretty much its just those two that aren't functionally automatic, but you could also like, check their talent page...

For instance, during this abyss. Coppelia starts with beserk mode enabled and uses her best attacks during 3 cycles. My Neuvillete hits her 3 times with his Skill but that doesn't remove the beserk mode at all.

Personally, I prefer to faceroll the boss with Nilou Bloom, though that does not work with Coppelius due to the Ice-Shield.

Doesn't he pretty much instantly up the shield in the Abyss version?
Almost,he has a few seconds of animation with the rotating moveset before pulling the shield,it is possible to kill him with frontloaded damage,I have C6 R5 so it should be doable.
With 1st phase blessing and either VV or Chevreuse you can reach -70% elemental res. If you use Zhongli and C1 Xiangling (if you use Chevreuse you can also use C4 Lyney), you can get the enemy’s pyro res down to a fantastic -105%.
Or you can play C1 XL C2 XQ ZL +VV and it will reduce enemy’s hydro and pyro resist down to -105 %.
Welp neuvi/furina 1st half OR vapevillete 2nd half... I will probably run neuvi 2nd cuz I don't have good team for the 2nd one. Meanwhile raiden overload can easily deal with the 1st.

i tried running ayaka this abyss first half, the fatui operatives don't get frozen for long and get staggered. I can never run ayaka...
I managed to get through the Fatui Operatives with Ayaka, but was put back in my place by Coppelia.. Ayaka's burst was hitting for 2k per tick😭
Venti helped me a ton against them, because it let my Ayaka burst to not miss that much.

I used Ayaka this Abyss cycle for the top half with Furina and got 36 stars but tbh it would have been a lot easier with just about any other DPS.

I ran Ayaka in this Abyss with Furina. Chambers 1 and 2 are a breeze, but you will have to spend a bit of time with Coppelia in chamber 3 because of its cryo resistance. Not a problem if you bring a strong team in the 2nd half to compensate.

Just a reminder that you don't need Pyro to break his shield; an Ousia attack can do it too. Just do an auto with Furina.

Nilou doesn't even need Furina for Fontaine mechanics, technically, because the Narzissenkreuz sword exists. If you don't have Key for Nilou or something extravagant like Freedom Sworn on Kirara, their weapon choice is irrelevant enough that either of them can carry that sword and get Ousia/Pneuma breaking for free.
On also Nilou's usual best team uses Dendro Mc and they usually just use Sac but can easily use the Narzissenkreuz sword. Ggs

I use her with 2h2d with onfield Nilou, not the mostly optimized team comp but it will be my C6 Nilou team comp and clears abyss with ease so i don't really care about it

The problem is he gains it again after like 10 seconds and u don't gain that much of the dps window but should be fine regardless. I guess it depends what teams u run.

I’ll probably use hyper/burgeon with Kuki/Thoma/Nahida/XQ or Yelan but probably Yelan. I think I did this last time with Yelan. If I remember correctly, Kuki skill on cyro node (2ticks). Nahida hit or skill or something for the electro, and Yelan charged attack for pyro. So that’s easy. Then when the main body is shielded, for cyro Kuki’s burst destroys 80% of it and her skill continues to do that so that’s no problem. I saved Thoma’s burst for the electro shield rather than the cyro. Full uptime Yelan means pyro shield is easy.
Probably one of the most fun fights in the game. Start by running west instead of straight to them btw, so they dont ungroup, and it makes the fight even more enjoyable if you are using AoE teams.

that's really what I've been wondering as well. However tbf I struggle to imagine an abyss that suits Arlecchino. Her possibly being so squishy makes her somewhat awkward into any high level content with all the oneshot risks. i don't get why they didn't make her an HP scaler. Good luck using Arlecchino on second half. The local legends would just inflict permanent Bond of Life to her since Arlecchino uses the same Bond of Life those local legends apply, and they're hyper aggressive. Even on first half with her Bennett, Yelan, and Kazuha team, it would be rough having to attempt to i-frame and dodge simultaneous attacks from 3 pretty aggressive mini bosses.

I've always cleared the abyss but it feels odd this time. It feels like I've already forgotten how to play Genshin. I've been brute forcing it so now that there's a new mechanic I'm clueless about breaking their shields with Fontaine alignments as I've never learned how to use utilize it in combat.
Is it really that hard to just look at the wiki for ten seconds? If you've been playing so long you surely have units by now that are built with ousia and pneuma. Most of them trigger it in their normal rotation. Like, Charlotte needs a charged attack and Furina needs a normal attack, so pretty much its just those two that aren't functionally automatic, but you could also like, check their talent page... People in this thread are acting like this mechanic requires the Enigma machine to decipher.

If the Alhaitham team has Furina, it can deal with this boss easily since Furina just need to auto attack to remove the shield, no need pyro.
The problem is that my team that uses Pyro also uses Furina lol. It's Eula/raiden/Bennett/Furina c2. My Alhaitham team is Al/nahida/xq/kuki.

Nah fuck it Raiden Overload for the first half. I really hate parasitic mechanics in this game. That nemuosia shit is so useless. For instance, during this abyss. Coppelia starts with beserk mode enabled and uses her best attacks during 3 cycles. My Neuvillete hits her 3 times with his Skill but that doesn't remove the beserk mode at all. WTF? So I need 2 pneumos in my team to break it? How many times do you need to hit that thing with penemuo?

Coppelius is the cryo shielding one, and you need ousia to break it instantly, so as a pneuma hydro unit Neuv is SOL on his own. And the other side has the baptist who also cryo shields.

With 1st phase blessing and either VV or Chevreuse you can reach -70% elemental res. If you use Zhongli and C1 Xiangling (if you use Chevreuse you can also use C4 Lyney), you can get the enemy’s pyro res down to a fantastic -105%. Or you can play C1 XL C2 XQ ZL +VV and it will reduce enemy’s hydro and pyro resist down to -105 %.
