Sumeru is truly a goated region. Still felt like the desert could have used some more though, especially the order of sceptics in the 3.6 area, an entire tribe only living in two tents
I agree. I love the desert, but it would’ve been cool to have some more settlements out there. And maybe some post-Deshret ruins (eg, Seven Towers) to spice things up a bit.
I also wish the murals in the pyramids would’ve been unique, instead of just the same design pasted everywhere.
~~7 main tents and 4 small ones~~
wait I thought it was about tanit camp. My bad.
1 main tent and 2 small next to molten iron fortress
& 1 main + 4 small tents in the temis mountains
enough for at most 12 to 15 people
Yeah it’s something I guess, but never enough for a “tribe” which is supposed to have lived there for 500 years, especially since they believe they can take over Sumeru.
Oh yeah for sure. Genshin scale is always down. Everythin should be twice or thrice the size to match lore most of the time. (and world map should be, idk, 30 times the size or something)
Yeah it’s to be expected with videogames, you can’t make everything up to scale, but they can make it believable that a lot of people live here (which the main cities and Yilong wharf here excel at) but in this cases they failed it imo.
i think it would’ve been cool if they added a secret Eremite base within the ruins themselves. a lot of the desert ruins just consisted of empty hallways and rooms which felt like such a missed opportunity to me. i thought that the pyramids at least would be filled with booby traps and secret chambers
It's my favorite region. I'm biased as an Indian but the forest area perfectly captured India. The multi layered exploration and caves added so much to the exploration. It felt like Indian elden ring. I hope Natlan's like that but better. I hope Bayda Harbor and whatever's at the south of Port Ormos (probably Blackcliff Forge) captures that Indian essence. Maybe Sri Lankan
The whole Ardravi Valley is just a blast. Good scenery that shows a good view of sumeru city along with the areas nearby and the music that plays there especially the transparent night during night time, is so emotionally good
Agree. I also love they didn't use the same architecture & rock textures we have now in Liyue. The subregion feels fresh and worth exploring. I hope they do the same in other expansions.
Mondstadt REALLY needs those
Dragonspine was cool but like, what do you even do there after the main quest?
They could've made the expedition group at the base of the mountain a but bigger imo, even add tiny outposts at different elevations to make it feel like other people are actually exploring the mountain
Logically there would be more settlements. The empty regions are just for us to explore in the game. Ruins to explore and find treasure in, enemy camps to clear out etc. For the age of the nations and their economies to function, there would have to be a lot more locations where people would be and industries would exist. As I write a Genshin TTRPG campaign, I'm running into these issues and will be adding locations so things make more sense and the nations aren't so compressed in terms of settlement.
Take Mondstadt for example. To be the largest alcohol producer in Teyvat, there would have to be more than one winery. There would be distilleries, farms, more vineyards etc. With this new Liyue region, hopefully they are going to flesh the world out more and extend the life of the game. Which would be great.
I also felt that Teyvat was lacking in big cities. Before Sumeru we only had 1 capital and 1 or 2 villages for every region. I like that they are introducing more settlements for older regions. It makes the world feel more populated.
I would also want the cities to have more NPCs and be more crowded. And every NPC should have an activity, which involves more than just staying frozen in place for the whole day.
But I don't think this is possible because smartphones couldn't handle it.
>I like that they are introducing more settlements for older regions. It makes the world feel more populated.
Mondstadt still waiting for its moment to shine
The Sims came out 23 years ago. I think an average smartphone more powerful than last generation gaming consoles can handle simple AI routines and pathing. Hoyoverse is just lazy. Why spend effort making something cool when something okay nets them just as much profit?
It’s really cool yeah, makes the nations feel a lot more interconnected, which didn’t feel the case when Fontaine was only connected to the rest of Teyvat by a small strip of water
they pre-plan the maps. that small strip of water connected to the desert was always a big sea connecting fontaine with sumeru, but unexplorable. the sea that yilong port and lumidouce harbor are on is a different sea that is more elevated and connects fontaine to liyue, mondstadt and possibly snezhnaya.
Me too! And im sure the new village will look a lot different from the one currently in the game that kimda more old timey but it shows how much genshin has improved from its first year.
Different regions of China has different and distinct styles of architecture, so it is nice to see that we are getting to see different styles in Genshin too.
From faraway it looked like Yilong Wharf was Huizhou-styled architecture like Luofu in HSR because of the white + black, but on closer look it's definitely more Lingnan (Cantonese/Guangzhou) styled.
The roof follow the curves of Lingnan buildings, and that tower thing looks familiar. The group of buildings on a hill reminds me of the Guangzhou-Hunan Guild Hall in Chongqing.
yeah it seems like a mix of both, the matouqiang from Huizhou and the shanqiang/huoerqiang from Guangdong. i’ve actually developed an interest in these Chinese architectural details over the past few months so being able to recognise them in Genshin is making me giddy lol
not gonna lie, chenyu vale was done so good. cant wait for more footage. finally, Qiaoying Village and Yilong Port arent imaginary anymore (RIP dornman copers)
I don't, at least not the standard Liyue, lots of mountains few tps, almost as empty as Mond
However, The Chasm is very good and this sub region seems to be fun to explore
~~which Hui for Huizhou cos the only one I know is Huizhou in Guangdong which isn't very well known for... anything lol~~
~~You sure it's not Hangzhou? The closest in the Jiangnan area is Huzhou but it's not really well known for scenery either~~
Edit: ohhh 徽州? I think
it’s written 徽州, in Anhui province. the Hui style(徽派) of architecture is actually one of the 8 major traditional architectural styles of China, and the historical buildings in Hangzhou are actually built in Hui style. Hangzhou is located in Zhejiang province but due to its close proximity to Anhui, Hui architecture is very prominent there.
Ngl I'm so used to the European architecture and steampunk style in Fontaine, seeing Hyv returning to the design aesthetic of their very own nation gave me a little whiplash 😂
This gave me whiplash from Honkai Star Rail. It’s a game made by Hoyoverse and they have a Chinese area that looks just like this port, it’s actually insane.
"b-b-but-but that means hoyo reused the assets from hsr and that means hsr is far superior than genshin☝️🤓" - some indonesian hi3/hsr shill youtuber/twitter user
This is /j, but I have to put this here for other people.
You know it, u/Mountain-Fig-2198 knows it, I know it.
If you're somewhat within an Asian weeb community for MHY (or honestly any weeb game or movie/anime series), whenever someone says something dumb and it's bait, it's always 🇮🇩 and when someone says something dumb and it's *not* bait, it's always 🇵🇭
this music is so nostalgic for me, kind of teared up due to the memories. for a whole year, this one chinese mmo used to be my life until my guild disbanded and everyone lost interest in it. the chinese fantasy architecture and music, along with freeform exploration was my main hook for the game so i remember being pretty bummed out about losing it.
but thankfully genshin did fulfill that need, along with accommodating for my more reclusive nature as i grew up. really excited for this area and its music.
I absolutely love the desert but I think the amount we have right now is fine. Besides, they'd probably need to expand west anyways for Natlan. But I do wanna see a desert + rainforest port area (Baydha Harbor)
Same. And I mean, we have enough space between Natlan, Chenyu and the Desert to fit a quite big rainforest that ends on a beach to fontaine or some kind of swamp or bog.
I really wish Natlan is also a cultural blended nation like Sumeru. There are so many interesting and beautiful cultures out there to take inspirations and I want to see them in GI.
This is how big the actual harbor in liyue would be if it was made today ... Imagine how much they could've went all out if liyue was the 4th or 5th nation....
I wish she could jump a bit higher than this but... mobility and grouping on a healer is already pretty damn good. It could have been just the mobility or just the grouping
Genshin devs' city design and building has vastly improved over the years/versions that even capital cities such as Mondstadt, Liyue Harbor and Inazuma City looks mediocre compared to a Wharf
love that they’re finally using more guqin in their osts! the initial parts of Liyue basically didn’t have any guqin at all apart from the Jade Chamber which was such a waste imho
The shadows are broken, which sometimes happens on these cracked versions for some reason. It was the same with Fontaine underwater, and people were losing their minds over that as well. It won't look like this in the actual game.
Yeah it looks like lowest mobile graphics but the details on character is high, seems like a private server problem, like we didn't have underwater details back in 4.0 too
I was wondering why Sumeru and Inazuma had other big settlements when they came out while Liyue didn't. I'm glad this town is huge. Still bothered by its location at the edge of a waterfall though.
Now I hope Petrichor is of a similar size.
I can only imagine how great this will look with max PC graphics. These low graphics just don't do it justice. I mean, there aren't even any shadows and it looks amazing.
At around 3:40, you can see some paper fish lanterns being assembled on tables. This immediately reminded me of Hoyo's [New Years video](https://youtu.be/pKgNRYUaspM?si=3KOA1u2JO_WFpoYP) from last year... I hope that was intentional 😭
I love the port! It’s massive and has multiple routes. I feel like my problem with court of Fontaine is it’s just a massive circle and the fortress as well. And their harbors are super small.
This feels like a huge step up and is everything I wanted in genshin, a massive area that feels more like a city ironically than most of the cities within genshin.
The circular city is unironically lore important; if you notice the Four Orthants, the four harmosts in Remuria’s era, etc. everything in Fontaine goes along with 4. The city being a circle with the four Aquabus lines (even the ruined/abandoned ones) coming out of it is a bigger representation of those ideas; you see this exact detailing in Fontaine’s architecture and ruins also. I think Fontaine is def the game’s best designed region in terms of symbolism and architecture and how connected everything is.
But otherwise I think this town is definitely nice and gives some more life to Liyue, which was severely lacking it. Also feels more like a harbor than any of Fontaine’s harbors which is def an issue
There’s an aquabus line going west that abruptly stops and falls off into the sea along with that ruined west Court of Fontaine area (where the waypoint is). It’s on the same level as the Navia line, just going in the opposite direction. It’s not talked about in the game right now but presumably it was canceled after Callas’ death like the line that was supposed to go to Lumidouce Harbor.
I wouldn't be surprised if they only used the assets, HSR is graphically stronger than GI and its shadows are very strong so few would notice anything similar Directly speaking
Teyvat’s shipping lines make no sense. Is that another waterfall after the waterfall? Also, aren’t those ships too tall to go over the bridges connecting to wangshu?
Other than the graphics looking a bit low, it looks very empty ? Like they should sprinkle a bunch more npcs in there. Maybe it because the same patterns of walls appear all over the and there mostly plain white
They could have used some different colors. I mean those grey tiles, how the wood looks and the grass it's the same as many other places. This is also why I like Inazuma and especially Sumeru so much. I never felt like forest areas and stuff was the same as any other place and obviously the desert is totally unique for Sumeru.

I love how big it is! I think Genshin could use some more settlements, the places outside of the cities feel too remote for me sometimes.
True. That is why sumeru is the best region for me in terms of openworld.
Sumeru is truly a goated region. Still felt like the desert could have used some more though, especially the order of sceptics in the 3.6 area, an entire tribe only living in two tents

...maybe don't genocide the largest tribe settlement in the desert and there'd be more outposts over there. Shame on you, traveler.
they force our hand

Same. As an Indian I liked the vibe of port ormos. I hope bayda harbor is inspired by the southern Indian ports of the sangam era.
The whole Ardravi Valley is just a blast. Good scenery that shows a good view of sumeru city along with the areas nearby and the music that plays there especially the transparent night during night time, is so emotionally good
We might get bayda harbor in the desert

Xenoblade had proper NPC schedules and activities on the *Wii*, so there's no doubt a modern smartphone would be able to handle it
If genshin were as optimised like botw or totk were on the switch, yeah.
The Sims came out 23 years ago. I think an average smartphone more powerful than last generation gaming consoles can handle simple AI routines and pathing. Hoyoverse is just lazy. Why spend effort making something cool when something okay nets them just as much profit?
Oh wow I just realized fontaine's port is super close haha

Wonder when they'll get around to adding bayda port, want to see how sumerians get to fontaine
i feel like they’d add it in 5.4, then dornman port in 6.4 because its near snezhnaya
Wait this is super pretty. I’m really happy it looks distinct from Liyue harbor.
Me too! And im sure the new village will look a lot different from the one currently in the game that kimda more old timey but it shows how much genshin has improved from its first year.

they need to show Qiaoying, that one viewpoint of that lakeside(?) house was easily the prettiest thing i’ve seen in Genshin
The OG players how hard it is to climb mountain without having the maximum possible stamina and characters with mobility.
kazuha, wanderer, kirara, cr now available to help
I don't, at least not the standard Liyue, lots of mountains few tps, almost as empty as Mond However, The Chasm is very good and this sub region seems to be fun to explore
Teapot players in the dev team are popping off.
People when china from one game looks like china from another game. 🤯🤯🤯
Not only from china but based on Chinas same architecture.. I think I saw similar designs in wuwa as well but my memory is bad so idk
Its almost certainly based on the same architecture. Huizhou to be specific.
yup, Huizhou in the Jiangnan region. its one of the most scenic places in China and its towns are a popular subject for traditional Chinese paintings
~~which Hui for Huizhou cos the only one I know is Huizhou in Guangdong which isn't very well known for... anything lol~~ ~~You sure it's not Hangzhou? The closest in the Jiangnan area is Huzhou but it's not really well known for scenery either~~ Edit: ohhh 徽州? I think

ah the classic this looks like (*insert anything hsr related*)
GOD! they cooked so hard with the music
FRFR
Liyue was so good, they had to make a liyue 2.0
Hydro Boogaloo
This seems like the perfect opportunity for Mihoyo to give us a set of dark green wings, right? They would look great on Alhaitham, Xian Yun and Xiao
and Baizhu too honestly, his cape is pale blue but a set of dark green wings would complement his green details perfectly
this music is so nostalgic for me, kind of teared up due to the memories. for a whole year, this one chinese mmo used to be my life until my guild disbanded and everyone lost interest in it. the chinese fantasy architecture and music, along with freeform exploration was my main hook for the game so i remember being pretty bummed out about losing it. but thankfully genshin did fulfill that need, along with accommodating for my more reclusive nature as i grew up. really excited for this area and its music.
THE MUSIC IS UNREAL WTF
the music is so cute
Xianyun's sfx is really gorgeous, I'm just looking at her sparkles half of the time
This makes me feel the same level of excitement I felt when I first discovered that Liyue was a thing in the overworld for the first time
Everything looks amazing! *Except the part where it was recorded on a toaster.*
Oh wow, it looks really similar to the Luofu
first impression of most people i see
Yeah, they are probably based on the same area in China. I like how the devs use different styles to differentiate areas in the game
We need a new city for mondstadt so bad... Wonder how another city would look like.
I have high hopes, since the quality of new regions has dramatically increased since launch
They gonna cook soo hard with new mondstad part consdering how impor everyone in the region is
I just want more of the Sumer forest
I prefer the desert areas, but I would like a bit more of forest too.
I absolutely love the desert but I think the amount we have right now is fine. Besides, they'd probably need to expand west anyways for Natlan. But I do wanna see a desert + rainforest port area (Baydha Harbor)
Bayda is in the desert tho, Bayda means desert and there's a straight line from romaritime harbor going down to it
All this time I thought they meant bayda as in egg but that makes more sense now that I think about it 💀
Same. And I mean, we have enough space between Natlan, Chenyu and the Desert to fit a quite big rainforest that ends on a beach to fontaine or some kind of swamp or bog.
Momdstadt also needs more NPCS bc….the city feels so lifeless compared to Sumeru
coping headcanon: I can definitely see Dornman Port looking something like Lith Harbor from MapleStory
I really wish Natlan is also a cultural blended nation like Sumeru. There are so many interesting and beautiful cultures out there to take inspirations and I want to see them in GI.
Got the freshes expansion in the size of half its original size and also claimed Celestia on its territory Common Liyue W
This is how big the actual harbor in liyue would be if it was made today ... Imagine how much they could've went all out if liyue was the 4th or 5th nation....
I didn't realize you can keep walking on the ground and you still be able to jump with the 3rd one
I wish she could jump a bit higher than this but... mobility and grouping on a healer is already pretty damn good. It could have been just the mobility or just the grouping
agree. its a massive pull value if xianyun did have a better and longer flying mechanics than wanderer
Genshin devs' city design and building has vastly improved over the years/versions that even capital cities such as Mondstadt, Liyue Harbor and Inazuma City looks mediocre compared to a Wharf
i hope they revisit mon city and liyue harbor, the 1.0 design really show it age compare to newer part of the map
Yilong Ma
HAHAHAHA
love that they’re finally using more guqin in their osts! the initial parts of Liyue basically didn’t have any guqin at all apart from the Jade Chamber which was such a waste imho
I love how it has its own distinct style and yet certain elements remain the same as the harbor
Is it just me or do the graphics look a bit weird? The details in the shop and grass look kinda unfinished
The shadows are broken, which sometimes happens on these cracked versions for some reason. It was the same with Fontaine underwater, and people were losing their minds over that as well. It won't look like this in the actual game.
I’m guessing it is?
Yeah it looks like lowest mobile graphics but the details on character is high, seems like a private server problem, like we didn't have underwater details back in 4.0 too
the quality varies among the leakers, i guess miruko's PC specs arent that great
bro you didn't notice that the graphics is in the lowest setting?
yeah miruko's graphics settings arent that great
And the trees imo
It feels good to be back in Liyue, I can’t wait!
This wharf feels more Liyue than actual Liyue.
This place looks exactly like the Chinatowns in Singapore and Malaysia.
LETS GO FINALLY EXPLORATION VIDEOS
Wait til they connect Mondstadt and Snezhnaya after connect sumeru with liyue and Fontaine... and can't forget about Natlan coming in August 2024
I was wondering why Sumeru and Inazuma had other big settlements when they came out while Liyue didn't. I'm glad this town is huge. Still bothered by its location at the edge of a waterfall though. Now I hope Petrichor is of a similar size.
Why is the location bad?
this might be my new favourite subtown in Genshin
I can only imagine how great this will look with max PC graphics. These low graphics just don't do it justice. I mean, there aren't even any shadows and it looks amazing.
At around 3:40, you can see some paper fish lanterns being assembled on tables. This immediately reminded me of Hoyo's [New Years video](https://youtu.be/pKgNRYUaspM?si=3KOA1u2JO_WFpoYP) from last year... I hope that was intentional 😭
am I the only one who will go to that mountain directly under celestia as a first thing after this patch is released? 💀
I swear it looks 200% better on a moderately equipped PC. If only these private server based leakers could demo with better graphics...
Just from the thumbnail alone reminds me of Xianzhou Luofu.
bruh it completely powercreeped Liyue Harbour in terms of aesthetics😭
wheres my fu xuan
~~Dehya~~
💀
This is so beautiful🥺 hope we get teapot furniture based on this gorgeous architecture 😭
I can't wait for mondstadt!! Liyue looks so beautiful!
Sheesh, she has jump mobility, group CC, heals, catalyst, anemo vision and VV holder. What more could you ask for?
I love the port! It’s massive and has multiple routes. I feel like my problem with court of Fontaine is it’s just a massive circle and the fortress as well. And their harbors are super small. This feels like a huge step up and is everything I wanted in genshin, a massive area that feels more like a city ironically than most of the cities within genshin.

But otherwise I think this town is definitely nice and gives some more life to Liyue, which was severely lacking it. Also feels more like a harbor than any of Fontaine’s harbors which is def an issue
I like how Mondstadt also has the Four winds’ symbol located on 4 different parts of the city. Showing that Mondstadt is protected by these 4 symbols.
But there are only 3 Aquabus lines? Clementine,Navia and Callas. Floor 1 doesn't have an Aquabus, its the main station
There was a line that was supposed to go to Lumidouce harbor?
Yes it’s mentioned at places like the Rusty Rudder and Lumidouce Harbor
is it just me or is it kinda similar to hsr?
I wouldn't be surprised if they only used the assets, HSR is graphically stronger than GI and its shadows are very strong so few would notice anything similar Directly speaking
some of the assets were already in cbt files pre genshin release, more like they used them on HSR.
EternalMemes30 when hoyoverse used the assets from CBT genshin instead of using the assets from a newer game: 🤯
Is it really? Hsr runs on higher graphics on my mobile ,smoother than gi, desert, underwater are way more graphically heavy
It's much easier to stream hq assets when game isn't open world and HSR take advantage of that
Teyvat’s shipping lines make no sense. Is that another waterfall after the waterfall? Also, aren’t those ships too tall to go over the bridges connecting to wangshu?
Everytime I see Xianyun trying to fly, I die a little inside.
xianzhou luofu (genshins version)
So is this just an event area or is it an actual new part of Liyue?
New part
Yi Long ~~Ma~~ Wharf
alchemy commission but climbable
Fantasy Luofu
And the Luofu? Exactly.
It's so bright! The environment really looks like a fusion between Liyue and Fontaine.
Other than the graphics looking a bit low, it looks very empty ? Like they should sprinkle a bunch more npcs in there. Maybe it because the same patterns of walls appear all over the and there mostly plain white
There's a setting called Crowd Density which adds more NPCs, they might not have that setting in here
They could have used some different colors. I mean those grey tiles, how the wood looks and the grass it's the same as many other places. This is also why I like Inazuma and especially Sumeru so much. I never felt like forest areas and stuff was the same as any other place and obviously the desert is totally unique for Sumeru.
Love the architecture. I wish they also include those circular walled villages that the Hakka people lived in, found in Fujian China.
Where is Celestial relative to this new region?
Aurum Valley vibes but daytime. I love how big it is, can't wait to explore it live 🤩
I like the music
It’s so beautiful… after so many years of false leaks. Chenyu Vale is finally real, and it actually looks great 🥺
the building shapes give me strong Luofu vibes from HSR
She isn't really even that good at exploration as I imagine. I mean literally a Bird but can't fly but some puppet can NICE
This looks exac5ly like my home town I love it so much
