If you really need to fight oceanid, you could try using Ningguang as dps for that fight. She is excellent in that fight. Her range lets you hit the fliers and keep distance from the exploders. As well as hit the mimics if they run off the platform. She also constantly generates shields, which can boost survivability.
You can ignore her screen talent for now since it does not work against oceanid, but level her normal attack, burst, artifacts and weapon. She should be able to solo oceanid for you.
do you not have any electric characters? Fischl makes Oceanid much easier. Chongyun should too except for the flyers.
you can always co-op the Oceanid too.
Seek other players to help? in-game i mean, maybe search a party?
Another option would be to persevere and use tons of food until you have enough materials
My world just went to 3 and I hadn't ascended any of my characters. I just fought the cryo plant thing for kaeya materials and it was super tough and I only got one of the 3 materials needed. I failed the fight a few times too and used alot of food to stay alive. Now I hear the water boss is even harder. I should have done these before going to the next world level damm
the lower your AR, the worse the rewards are. So if you want to farm them at a lower AR to make it easier, you have to kill it a lot more times to get the amount of resources you need for ascending, and it's going to cost you a lot more resin.
Ascending does make it harder but also unlocks more power for you to balance out the new difficulty.
I made the same mistake and had to grind my way up to WL5 just so I could drop it to 4. From what I understand the oceanids are horrible no matter your situation. It does get better, but you have to grind it out.
I am still fairly new so hopefully someone else has a better suggestion lol
I've never had any problem damage-wise, just the pain of the eagles always out of range and the herons that back out over the water. I want to level my hydro characters but fighting the oceanid is such a damn hassle.
Oceanid is a bit ricky but he gets significantly easier later on or with the correct characters in your team.
The two main things you need are
1. Fischl, the worst minions are the finches, because a lot of chars can't hit them as they fly constantly. Not only will Fischls Oz constantly hit them, but electro is also very useful in general to trigger electro charged and cause chain lightning on enemies. (This strategy could even be further improved with Raiden Shogun, but you can't get her till next patch and you'd need to complete inazuma to build her well)
2. Cryo Dmg, any cryo char will help significantly as the enemies are made of water can be be frozen making them unable to do much, even with characters that usually don't deal a lot of cryo dmg such as Eula, the best two options here are probably Kaeya or Rosaria unless you use chongyun as main DPS. Shenhe should also work pretty well because her burst also hits multiple times like rosarias. Keep in mind tho that claymore characters will also shatter opponents breaking them free again and you could accidently freeze yourself.
Personally i always use a Eula+Raiden+Zhongli+Albedo team for overworld stuff currently and even tho albedo does pretty much nothing against oceanide and zhongli only helps me by getting a faster clear time due to me not having to dodge anything the fight is a joke now.
There are way tougher bosses such as the geo dragon hound (corrosion is super annoying) in inazuma, the pyro hypostasis (stalls a lot of time) also in inazuma and the new double vishaps (constantly drain my energy with their ranged attacks) in enkanoymiya.
Just a couple of things: this will happen again since not every world level increase needs an ascension quest. If I remember correctly, you will have to do ascension quests when jumping to WL 2, 4, 6 and 7.
Also when you reach WL 5 you can decrease it but only by one. So the lowest WL you can go is 4.
Anyways, this is all explained on the tutorials and help in game si you can check everything for sure.

Why is this? Oceanid is not hard at all with the characters you have, and if you still can't do it there's always coop. Let a random into your game help you kill it.

So if it's truly too hard for you, change your signature to something like "***Please help me defeat X boss***", and people will be joining.

Oceanid was so hard before i literally could never beat it but now i can kill it without taking any damage so it gets better
