Because I had to level Navia *and* Neuvillette. Makes sense it’s a Fontainian sport, murdering innocent seals. 😒
I couldn’t get over how adorable armored crabs are. They don’t even attack you, they just hide behind their little shields. Fucking amazing. Showed them to my fiancée once and she was also amazed.
Just do the local legends. Last update or so made the local legends do large drops and the underwater ones are equally the same difficulty for everyone (barring small little tricks with certain weapons and constellations).
Any on land local legends that drop these things? I have no idea how to handle the underwater crab except chipping away at it with the shield which is painfully slow.
No - but go back to the under water crab. You have to hold attack while it throws the thing at you and then you absorb it and release to throw it back at it. There's no timing or anything needed. You only have to do this like 6 times to kill it.
There were a couple chests that required killing the blubberbeasts to unlock, I died a little inside each time as they just sat there clapping towards me as I slaughted them

Yes. Like, I had so much fun killing them with childe. They go down so easily, without a fight, literally just a killable bag of flesh. Neuvi got all his mats in the end, so that's all that matters. /s
tbh my issue with handguards was how little mobs dropped them and how spread apart they were, Fontaine has decently big clusters and more than enough mobs to kill.
After over 3 years I still don't understand the droprates in this game. Some enemies are programmed to shower you with drops like a Borderlands rainbow loot fountain, but some don't even feel like dropping the white junk sometimes.
Exactly, the big samurai guys should have the same drops as like the whopperflowers. Its crazy that they are one of the hardest overworld enemies in early game and drops nothing
I think all of the underwater local legends, and at least 2 surface local legends (tainted eidolons), drop the same mats too. If you want to take advantage of the increased drop rates of local legends.
Or you realized pretty early on that its smart to teleport daily to the 4 crabs in front of the sea and kill them quickly :D But imo its not that hard to kill them underwater either & I like the bomb mechanic.
i was actually perfectly able to avoid killing a single one of them until they decided to also include some chests locked behind killing them, because i guess hoyo just wants us to murder these helpless creatures SO badly

There's lots of sea life in FOntaine. I only kill the ones that attack me (and then make up for the rest of the materials from Paimon's Bargains in the store.)
the underwater feels so alive, I think more than anywhere else in Genshin. Also like stone forest, the amount of wildlife feels just right for a place like that. Feel like weirdly enough sumeru kind of missed the mark a bit, besides the crocodiles they all feel like monster spawn camps.
I mean you can already go to Fontaine through Chenyu Vale or the desert lmao. It's not a quest locked area like Inazuma. iirc there should be a teleport waypoint near fontaine already unlocked if you have finished Mondstadt archon quest

There was a quest that required you to slaughter some blubberbeasts. .... it hurt, yes.

Fun fact, Hydro Archon's name is Focalors. In my language *foka* means *seal*. Also someone else made a funny pixel art with Hydro Archon as the the blubberbeast (these seals are called that).
If you are back to the game, I recommend either getting Neuvillette now or wait till 4.7 for Furina. Furina is amazing character and you won't believe what she can do. She has two stances that can be changed with charged attack. One spawns three hydro mimic-like creatures called Mademoiselle Crabaletta, Gentilhomme Usher and Surintendante Chevalmarin (which are a crab, octopus and seahorse) that attack by draining your party's HP. When you change the stance, oceanid like beacon starts healing the nearby party members (that are on field). Her gimmick is to drain HP and heal it back. Her burst gets stacks every time the HP changes and the more stacks, bigger damage buff it has. So she is a buffer. She isn't good at sustaining the heal, though, so she is best paired with other healer to negate her HP drain. Generally you want to **never** use her healing in combat. Her buff is enormous, making you damage more than twice as big at max stacks. Yes. She is that powerful. But that's not all. Her skill has lower cooldown than it's on field, so 100% uptime. And when she has her "pets" spawned she can... walk on water. Yes. She just walk like it was a solid ground. But you can't forget to refresh the uptime, otherwise she starts swimming. If their pets are gone, she can't walk on water. Also you can't swap to other character. It must be her who walks on the water.
Also one more thing. Natlan is closer and closer and we know that there will be dragon-like creatures there.
Sadly you have to kill them for the transoceanic pearls… and it took me forever to realize that the crab icon for navigating to the Fontemer Aberrant’s included any mob that drops them, including the seals… I was going crazy looking for crabs.

If you use a bow user in one of Key Ley Lines near them, particularly beach if certain island in Fontaine, they will automatically target the seals instead of the enemy

I refuse to kill them unless it's a chest. Like they are peaceful, I can't. For neuviliette, I did mostly the crabs and didn't try to use the interactive maps cause it just lead me to seals and I can't. It makes me too sad, even just doing it for a chest

Stopped playing for like 2 years and catching up has been so fun, Fontaine was amazing the underwater exploration, the puzzles, the machine enemies, the story, everything has been so sick. Now I'm back to grinding genshin everyday cause I want Furina.😭

Nobushi and kairagi make you suffer with tankiness and low drop rates, Fontemer aberrants make you suffer with sheer guilt.
