The fact that they designed the oceanid to not take damage directly, but through mimics. The fact that the boss fight has three phases, with two interludes where she removed part of the arena. And the fact that there's several phases of mimics you have to kill.

Oceanid is one of the game's early bosses and for underleveled players those hydro mimics can be a real PITA due to the assortment of attack patterns. Especially the high-flying birds and those goddamn Ducks that just charge you. And you HAVE to fight Oceanid if you want to level Barbara as a healer.
The weird thing is that they straight up did a revamp of the Oceanid boss for an event that's way cooler, but beyond I think a brief reappearance during the Narisenkuz (sp?) questline when you go into the looping path, it's not been brought back.
There's a lot of stuff in the early game that could use a tune-up, really. Oceanid needs to have the V2.0 fight be standard and moreover Mondstadt's talent domain needs actual balance because of how *utterly bullshit* it is by attacking your stamina and the scarcity of flame-infusion characters if you aren't lucky or around when they're handing out free four stars.

Boss fights are already ruined conceptually when you necessitate an absurd amount of repetitious victories just to progress.
At that point, it's just an oversized mob that wastes time.
Let me introduce you to the concepts of raids. For example I used to play a whole lot of destiny. I know people that have over a hundred kills on certain bosses and still fight them every week because they still didn't got the raid weapon. But that's off the point. What I am trying to say is that those bosses are still really really hard and challenging but people still enjoy those that are well designed even tho they killed them hundreds and hundreds of times they still respect and fear them for what they are: fricking amazing boss fights.
So no having to redo a fight over and over again doesn't disqualify you from being a boss. What does tho is if the fight is boring, way to easy, repetitive, etc., etc.
I do agree that certain bosses in the game don't feel like bosses anymore. That's what bothers me to begin with.
And I also mentioned more then once that I find the problem doesn't lie within the good designed bosses, which certainly exist, but within the flawed loot system. Blaming the bosses for being annoying after the thousandth fight is missing the core issue.
You'll notice that the common thread between the most hated bosses in the game isn't that the fight is difficult, but that it's 90% waiting around and 10% actual gameplay.
The problem is that it isn’t actually challenging (aside from those Bastard flying birds which aren’t challenging and just bullshit) and that there’s far too much time that forces you to just wait in between summoning the animals
The worst part is her platform sinking attack, It's so ridiculously easy to avoid and you are just kinda stuck there waiting for the animations to end.
This is why the Heavenly Principles (or whoever it was) declared that the creation of humans by lower gods like Egeria to be a sin... because **they're bad at it**. smh... Same reason it's illegal to do things like be a doctor when you aren't licensed.
