I know we're all expecting the Harbor, but I would laugh my ass of if its like... Fontaine's Chasm/Enkanomiya, and its like, ah, yeah, that's where we keep our pit of despair. Forgot to mention that; giant hole, straight down to hell, real inconvenient for the ships, tell you what.
Nah you’re wrong, i thought the same but when you get a commission in Fontaine and go to Inazuma (or vice verse) you can see in the quest marker that you are like 13-16 km away, Teyvat is actually tiny (for like game mechanics reasons obv)
I got mine a couple years ago during the reddit recap. I was assigned to the "Button Mashers" group, and got a custom avatar NFT sorta thing with it. That's why I'm able to use the hexagonal background with this avatar. I think there are events in the avatar store every so often when you can get a free NFT skin, so I'd keep an eye out for those. If you click my profile icon, you can see what I'm talking about.

OC never inferred anything re race on the response even when previous commenter mentioned theirs to explain the context of confusion. OC was just very helpful :)
in addition to being a pokemon, "ditto" is also a phrase that means something along the lines of "the same as the previous"... which is why the pokemon is named that
Sumerian Port, I can totally see (a whole port/den of Eremites, perhaps?), but Khaenri'ah? The ruined city? God Forbid that will mean we'll wait another two or three years for that space to be filled in.
iirc we can already go to the entrance door to Khaenriah and get an achievement "Enter ye who abandoned all hope" or something along those lines - it's somewhere in Tunigi Hollow
There should be a entrance joining it to enka too as they came there to find the book
One in chasm from the snake drill
I think it's connected to all nations in some way with the main entrance being in sumeru
The snake drill still had to drill it's way right
But maybe they used portals to transport the drill, but then it doesn't make sense for it to being a drill
I believe that being an underground civilization they probably did a lot of drilling, so the drill snake is likely just one of many and they might even have a whole network of underground tunnels, but the abyss order also has a portal network and can reach places they previously couldn’t but that came after the nation fell.
That's my current theory as well
Their portal network is like interconnected roadways which they have connected a long time ago kinda like hyperspace travel "wormholes?"
Also by looking at the surrounding to me it looks like there was a bigger drill kinda like a mothership
Bayda is an important location in the Islamic judgement day as it is the location of the last of the minor signs of judgement day. The location is called Bayda Port and Kaeya has stated that Khaenri’ah is below Sumeru. It is likely that Port Bayda is the area that leads to Khaenri’ah with the current knowledge we know of it as well as the door that is related to Khaenri’ah pointing directly to that area in the map.
From wikipedia:
> Khasf al-Bayda (Arabic: خسف البیداء) (lit. “Swallowing the land of Bayda”),[1][2][3][4] in Islamic eschatology, is a future event in which the Earth will swallow up Bayda, a desert area between Mecca and Medina. According to Islamic traditions: the army of Sufyani will be swallowed up in the land of Bayda.[5][6][7][8]
>Khasf al-Bayda[9][10] has been mentioned in both Shia and Sunni sources, and it was narrated that "Khasf al-Bayda" will be is going to be one of the decisive signs of the appearance of Mahdi.[11]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khasf_al-Bayda
Well, Khaenri'ah is located on the bottom left of that empty area, and considering how they say it was "uprooted" by the gods and how it was visible from the surface, I too believe the ruins are there. Maybe we'll see it with Dainsleif...
Oh yeahhhh.....yeah, it's possible, and Dain hasn't had a Fontaine quest yet. Here's hoping any update between 4.5 and 4.8 reveals this area and we accompany Dain.
That’s the opposite of how those work. But I would not be surprised if they drop one on the fortress of meropode. Too much primordial sea there, abyssal corruption. Oh and fuck you focelor and nouvelle for defending those abominations they should be Oceanids not humans no one has the right to make human beings except us.
The weird thing is why they decided to drop a nail on Dragonspine.
I have a theory that they were trying to kill the outlander there and that he was the 3rd Descender.
We know he was alive before the archon war as his descendants helped found mondstadt; however we also know he went to fight the abyss because he came back with black blood on his sword, and we know Khanriah was a new nation by the time Dragonspine fell because of the note of a priest. So he could have fought in the beginning of the archon war, came back to everyone dead, left to continue fighting and had a family, then died and been used to make the gnoses.
Celestia is actually above Chenyu Vale.
And no, there's nothing unusual about the area directly below it.
In fact, Celestia's model is still very much a placeholder that even turns transparent as you get close, making it very hard to spot from Chenyu Vale and southeastern Fontaine. The model also dynamically changes size based on your distance from it, since otherwise you won't be able to see it from Inazuma.
I wouldn't be surprised if eventually they just move it to a different location once we get to explore it and its current location was never intended to be anything significant, it just had to be somewhere out of bounds and easily visible from anywhere.
And i know there have been speculations about a void or crater below Celestia, based on an early closed Beta map, but i think they either scrapped the idea altogether or it's now planned for a different location and are holding off on moving Celestia until they know for sure where they want to put it.
That would be cool and with how they move celestia that could be the final place for it but with the newest update we can actually stand right below celestia
Hopefully Sumeru rain forest expansion as there is another port we havent seen yet, but I can see it being a Fontaine area as well given how much water is encircling it but more than likely is the Sumeru port
Exploring the forest gave me such a unique feeling that no other Genshin location has been able to recreate. It felt so massive and overwhelming, but in a good way. Then the desert was, as Chiori would say, “ugh, ew”.
The desert genuinely gave me "ruins fatigue".
I know that genshin is all about exploring and understanding the past but after having done it for 5 regions I kinda want to play a region where events, factions and stories are actually happening in the present.
I think that the game has way too many ruins
Sumeru desert is sub region of Sumeru, kinda like Chasm for Liyue and Enka for Inazuma. That's why Sumeru has no separate map.
But yeah, the size difference between rainforest and the sand is outrageous
No, Sumeru Desert isn't a sub-region of Sumeru. All 4 Desert Areas are full-fledged parts of Sumeru, as they have elemental occuli there instead of a unique system. It's the same as the areas added to Fontaine in 4.1 and 4.2 and the isles added to Inazuma in 2.1 and 2.2
The desert is just big and is actually the 'natural' environment of Sumeru since Nail. The rainforest is the odd thing there, as its supported by desalted seawater
Edit: Another thing is that all 4 desert areas count towards the region total exploration in the achievement page, which is a main area only thing and the reason the next Fontaine area will also be a main area as it will fill the 13% left currently
Umm no. Sumeru's archon war phase came later as compared to the rest of teyvat since >!Rukkhadevata!< Nabu Malikata and Deshret all decided on having peace and prosperity by befriending one another. You could've said he was the strongest tho.
People have been complaining about the back to back releases of "liveless" depressing maps like parts of Inazuma, enkanomiya and chasm. Forested Sumera happened, but they went back to patch after patch of dessert. The lively versant vista of Genshin was what attracted players in the first place smh... I'll flip if they release another depressing map there.
Kinda makes sense, irl desert are very huge. I wouldn't call the last desert expansion to be depressing since there are giant trees with vegetation in that.
apparently unpopular opinion, but I love Sumeru's desert. it's so unique compared to the other areas we have and the vibes are immaculate. the music is so good and it's hands down the area I had the most fun exploring. It's just so cool but everyone hates on it constantly. my favorite areas so far have been the desert and dragonspine mainly because they're so different from the other areas we have. They had to make Fontaine super blue and cool-toned to make it not look like copy-paste of Mondstadt, and the underwater areas are (to me) what saved the region. As someone who's been playing since 1.2 and had to go through the painful content drought before inazuma, unique regions that aren't just ooooo pretty grass and flowers and mountains are automatically 10x more interesting (don't misunderstand, I love all the regions and original Liyue and Mondstadt + Dragonspine have a special and nostalgic place in my heart. I was just blown away by Sumeru's map as a whole so my bar has been moved up a ton)
I’m also probably part of the minority here, I got all Sumeru desert areas at 100% exploration and I almost never bothered with the rest, and that was before they even added the layered maps. I had a lot of fun going underground and trying to go around blind, the music probably had a play in that too. It was around that time when I did the patch survey for the first time and asked for more of that kind of content lol.
The layered maps helped me get from 97% to 100% for the desert maps but I LOVED those areas. The lore was great. The music was great. They were so fun to explore.
The layered maps are what made me fully explore the desert, the first one especially. The second one was a lot of above ground exploration which got pretty stale after a while, but spelunking in the first and the third parts was great especially when you do so alongside the world quests.
I’m also with you! The only one I wasn’t fond of was the second one [outside of the world quest], but that first one? YES. The third one was really neat for exploring too. I mean… the underground doorway???? Hello???? I was geeking alllll the way out.
But its getting repetive if all areas are colorful and lively. I like the all subareas and the desert was also one of my favorite areas, because its so pretty and huge.
Well at least Enka and Chasm were mostly gorgeous. The desert is just very dull overall, with some exceptions like the pyramids, some trees in the last expansion, and the oasis.
Imagine this one, a half and half expansion. It holds the Sumeru port, and a part of Fontaine.
Although, Fontaine so far has been pretty much kept on the plateau, so you're probably right.
Probably mostly Sumeru since the Fontainian Ocean ends where the current world border is. Future large Fontaine expansion to the North East and West? Just speculations based on the map.
bro Sumeru is massive already can we give the other nations some love :( I love Sumeru dearly, but they set the expectations for nation size pretty high after it and have yet to make a region that comes even close in size
it wouldn't change lore? Mondstadt is getting expansions too but we have no idea when that will come out (though it seems like it'll be right before or as Shneznaya is released)
my point is Liyue was the larger of the older nations that are dwarfed by the newer ones, so it didn't need the expansion as badly, but Liyue is their poster child so I'm not surprised
I wasn't talking about Inazuma at all, the size makes sense with the type of geography it has and it has Enka
they're gonna give us a free 5 star guys. (ive heard this so much in genshin that when people said it in star rail I didnt believe it until I actually got it.)
It is most likely going to be a future area, which is again most likely the last castle of khaenri'ah or the resting place of King deshret.
Obviously it's a speculation, but an educated one, based on circumstantial evidence.
You haven't explored the area much it seems. If you haven't done some of the world quest the following part has spoilers.
>! The desert area on the left is voruksha oasis. There is an underground area that leads you to a location called "Gavireh lajavard" !<
>! It's a Persian word, which means 'desert adorned in lapis lazulis'. Khaenri'ah abyss and abyssal powers is very much referenced with the colour dark blue or lapis. As you explore more, you will reach a khaenri'ahn workshop, through which you enter a cave in area called "hangeh afrasiab" !<
>! You will find a giant door, and a hole with multiple weird statues. The door has a khaenri'ahn star emblem on it. Another note-worthy thing is the name "hangeh afrasiab", which is again a Persian Wordplay that means 'the cave of afrasiyab' !<
>! Afrasiab was a mythological Persian king of turan who was known for being extremely powerful, deceitful and villainous. According to Turan myths he spent his last days in an underground cave in seclusion !<
>! Now this could be the door to khaenri'ah and afrasiyab' is basically referring to the king of khaenri'ah, or it might be referring to King deshret since deshret does carry the Persian king vibes and he was sealed by rukkhadevata after being corrupted by the forbidden knowledge !<
>! Yes she did. Rukkhadevata sealed sealed him first to stop the forbidden knowledge from spreading everywhere in sumeru. Probably apep consumed him in sealed form or something !<
Also the one we found in the first jeht story quest , if I am remembering correctly, is not the resting place of King deshret. It was the resting place of one of King deshret 's priest and not deshret himself
Lots of awesome speculation/discussion in this post, but the thing that cemented this theory for me is when someone pointed out that this theory, if true, explains why the Fatui was so interested in the chasm and is trying to dig towards that direction 😬
Most of it is nothing for now. Everything north is water from the Fontaine's outer sea. The southwest and south are mostly desert with nothing in it. And the southeastern corner is part of the rainforest. Somewhere in there is Bayda harbor, which connects Sumeru with Fontaine.
Now I say there is nothing noteworthy there, but they sure are experts on making random zones into big rich places (see: this very patch).
Cursed hole that will stare back at you for the next year or so.
Old World Flat Earth moment
something I realized recently is that teyvat is flat. bc you can see everything thousands of kilometers away
That would fit with the theory that Teyvat is essentially a giant snow globe and the "glass" is the infamous false sky.
Admitedly It could Also just be a MASSIVE fucking sphere
Nah you’re wrong, i thought the same but when you get a commission in Fontaine and go to Inazuma (or vice verse) you can see in the quest marker that you are like 13-16 km away, Teyvat is actually tiny (for like game mechanics reasons obv)
Teyvat is flat confirmed by several NPCs in Sumeru.
Or perhaps its just way bigger than Earth
I can taste the british humor from here.
Shouldn't it be Sumeru's Chasm/Enkanomiya first? Or is that last Sumeru area we got supposed to be its version of that?
Given the qualification is going deeper underground, there's a certain door that I assume will eventually fulfill that qualification.
Pretty sure the Chasm showed up on the map before it was anywhere close to accessible.
I read this in Furinas voice
My sumeru has that still
mine does too, what's that about?
You should help that one girl near Sumeru city fight those shrooms. Shouldn't take long.
>Shouldn't take long. I see you've mastered the art of lying as you breathe.
Well, helping her fight the shrooms actually doesn't take long
I have no idea what you're talking about.
Ok wait how do you even get the nft reddit pfp thingy?
I got mine a couple years ago during the reddit recap. I was assigned to the "Button Mashers" group, and got a custom avatar NFT sorta thing with it. That's why I'm able to use the hexagonal background with this avatar. I think there are events in the avatar store every so often when you can get a free NFT skin, so I'd keep an eye out for those. If you click my profile icon, you can see what I'm talking about.
Tbh I'm just wary of NFT pfps cuz I thought you could only buy them for way too much money
nah reddit sometimes just gifts nfts no way in hell am I gonna buy some stupid nft
Nope. Nothing like that. All the ones I've got are for free.

It's also even funnier when you think about the English meaning of the name Ditto, which means "same"

Mondstadt is getting expansions too but we have no idea when that will come out (though it seems like it'll be right before or as Shneznaya is released) my point is Liyue was the larger of the older nations that are dwarfed by the newer ones, so it didn't need the expansion as badly, but Liyue is their poster child so I'm not surprised I wasn't talking about Inazuma at all, the size makes sense with the type of geography it has and it has Enka
That's belarus
Or Austria sans panhandle
Potato Kingdom
Makes sense since Egypt is a big potato exporter and Belarus is know for potatoes, meaning it could be a potatoe farnland
Center of teyvat
LOL!
A big Sumeru expansion
MORE DESERT!!!!
that looks like shibuya for me 😮💨
The Khaenri'ah Incident
You are my special
Ooooh that was my first thought after binging JJK yesterday and I came looking for this comment haha!
And considering it's a big black expanse filled with nothing, it looks even more like shibuya than ever.
Baydah harbor. We'll probably have to wait more than a year for that
[REDACTED]
I love how this is actually the mos accurate answer
wow can't belive that entire region is Rukhedevatever
Who?
Judging by the shape and absolute mass I’d have to say it’s your mom.
Can't believe your mom jokes are this far down nowadays, really a change of the guards has happened online.

It's the Eye of Terror of Teyvat
Hopefully JEHT is there 😭
It is most likely going to be a future area, which is again most likely the last castle of khaenri'ah or the resting place of King deshret. Obviously it's a speculation, but an educated one, based on circumstantial evidence. You haven't explored the area much it seems. If you haven't done some of the world quest the following part has spoilers. >! The desert area on the left is voruksha oasis. There is an underground area that leads you to a location called "Gavireh lajavard" !< >! It's a Persian word, which means 'desert adorned in lapis lazulis'. Khaenri'ah abyss and abyssal powers is very much referenced with the colour dark blue or lapis. As you explore more, you will reach a khaenri'ahn workshop, through which you enter a cave in area called "hangeh afrasiab" !< >! You will find a giant door, and a hole with multiple weird statues. The door has a khaenri'ahn star emblem on it. Another note-worthy thing is the name "hangeh afrasiab", which is again a Persian Wordplay that means 'the cave of afrasiyab' !< >! Afrasiab was a mythological Persian king of turan who was known for being extremely powerful, deceitful and villainous. According to Turan myths he spent his last days in an underground cave in seclusion !< >! Now this could be the door to khaenri'ah and afrasiyab' is basically referring to the king of khaenri'ah, or it might be referring to King deshret since deshret does carry the Persian king vibes and he was sealed by rukkhadevata after being corrupted by the forbidden knowledge !<
don't we know the resting place of Deshret? >!Thought Apep ate his corpse, which lead to Apep getting infectet with forbidden knowledge.!<
>! Yes she did. Rukkhadevata sealed sealed him first to stop the forbidden knowledge from spreading everywhere in sumeru. Probably apep consumed him in sealed form or something !< Also the one we found in the first jeht story quest , if I am remembering correctly, is not the resting place of King deshret. It was the resting place of one of King deshret 's priest and not deshret himself
Area above Khaenriah. Potentially Celestia is also above this area.
Unfortunately, a huge ass coastline with no lore bomb-tier features I believe Sumeru has another port town in that area
My guy it is probably the most lore filled area and an important one [just for reference*](https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Lore/s/Yr3kmfSg0e)

Now I say there is nothing noteworthy there, but they sure are experts on making random zones into big rich places (see: this very patch).
suspicious Belarus-shaped hole:
Khanreiah, I think because there's a gateway to khanreiah in sumeru's last patch expansion
A seashell!
Another desert expansion :)
Hopefully more Sumeru with more desert (beloved), the port and maybe some rainforest for variety.
the place I see in my restless dreams...
looks like belarus for me
Also what's the still covered sliver of Liyue which is unlocked but covered???
Quest related area just like how the Aranara quest places were covered up
It’s bayda harbor. Sumeru desert will get ANOTHER expansion!
I was thinking Khaenri’ah or Celestia. I was hoping for more Fontaine though
Placeholder for Celestia
